But we have to start this morning robes with the memorial service. A lot of folks were looking forward to just what that scene was going to be like, and it was overwhelming, it was emotional, it was powerful.

Speaker 1: Yesterday in Arizona, that's right, We begin our run on this Monday, yes in Arizona, where Charlie Kirk's widow delivered an emotional tribute to her husband yesterday, which included a very powerful moment. She said, she forgives the man who assassinated him.

Speaker 2: We couldn't help you. Just sit up. You're almost stunned when it happened. And I think the crowd took them a moment before they then applauded. It probably was a standing ovation, but it was an incredible, incredible moment she did. She spoke in front of a packed State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Estimated two hundred thousand people were there. Only sixty four thousand could get in, but they had an overflow area and then robes you were saying, I just said, other people just came to the area, so you had that many folks there to honor the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed September tenth during his appearance on a Utah College campus. How his wife gave details about seeing him after he was shot, describing seeing the wound and a slight smile on her husband's face.

Speaker 1: Now, in addition to Erica, there were a lot of speakers basically the who's who of the Trump administration cabinet members Rubio Hegseeth, RFK Junior Tulci Gabbart as well as the White House Chief of Staff, and we kept hearing the same types of things, Folks calling Charlie Kirk a martyr, talking about their faith, talking about how he was christ Like and how that was his mission, that he was not the political activist that people describe him as. He was more so someone who wanted to turn people towards faith, young man especially, and used the political realm to do so. That was really interesting, all right. Next up, President Trump was the final speaker and delivered a forty minute plus Is it exactly forty minutes?

Speaker 1: Okay, it was estimating forty plus minute speech in which he praised Kirk as one of the country's brightest stars and he called him the mess builder of people.

Speaker 2: And as the President honored Kirk, his remarks veered off into politics a plenty. He mentioned how well his tariffs have been helping the economy. He mentioned how safe DC is now and said he's also going into Memphis and Chicago. He got in digs at the governor of Illinois as well as former President Biden. There was even a moment when he said he hates his opponents. This was bizarre, I think, even objectively saying, and he was complimenting Charlie Clerk, Charlie Kirk saying, you know, this is a guy he always preached you don't hate your enemies, you wish them well. And Trump said, nah, I'm not like that. I hate and he.

Speaker 1: Did, yeah, he emphasized hate, yeah, and said I don't want the best for them. Yeah, all right. Well. The President also unexpectedly teased a major announcement today on autism. In the middle of his eulogy to Charlie Kirk, the President took the time to tell the crowd that he's going to have an Oval Office event today and in Trump's words, he said, I think we found an answer to autism.

Speaker 2: If that were only true, I mean, I guess we should be hopeful. Right now, everybody's skeptical because it's being widely reported that the administration is going to link autism to thailanol. The administration is expected to claim a link between autism and women taking thailanol during pregnancy, and will advise that women only take it for high fevers. Now. Thailand Al is the most commonly used pain reliever among pregnant women, pregnant women are not told to take advil because of the risk of miscarriage and birth defects. You were explaining this to me. This is just you understand. You can't take appleprovin you can't take advil, right.

Speaker 2: We are. It's under the proposed agreement, the Holy Grail algorithm, that TikTok uses will now be controlled by US investors, not a Chinese owner. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt said the agreement might be signed in the coming days and that Oracle CEO Larry Ellison would lead up the effort.

Reminder here, Congress passed that bill last year to ban TikTok in the US unless it's Chinese owner divested, but the January deadline kept getting kicked down the road with one extension after an other extension. There were four in total. But now it appears we may have a lasting deal that will allow us all to just breathe easier. That TikTok's not going anywhere, all right.

Speaker 2: Continuing on the run, Now, let's sad out to California, where the state is trying another tactic to combat Trump's immigration raids by telling immigration agents to show their faces. Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law over the weekend that bans most law enforcement officers from wearing masks while carrying out their duties.

Speaker 1: This is in direct response to recent ice raids in the Los Angeles areas, where agents often wear masks when they're making those arrests. The government says the masks are necessary for the safety of officers and their families because, you know what they say, They're just doing their jobs. But in the current political climate, they are concerned about officers being identified, targeted, and then potentially becoming victims of doxing, etc.

Speaker 2: That's it makes sense. That does make sense. Now other states are looking at similar measures. But get this, the California measure doesn't even go into effect until twenty twenty six. As we continue on the run now, President Trump mincing no words on true social that's maybe no surprise, kind of a surprise at who he was directing it to this time. It was at his own Attorney General, Pam Bondi, wanting her to take immediate legal action against several of his political adversaries.

Speaker 1: Trump complained, and I'm going to quote him here, that nothing is being done about former FBI Director James Comy, Democratic Senator Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James writing, we can't delay any longer. It's killing our reputation and credibility. Justice must be served now, followed by three exclamation points. All three of those folks we just named, not surprisingly, have all been very vocal critics of Trump.

Speaker 2: Now, both Schiff and James are being investigated by the DOJ for mortgage fraud. Both have denied any wrong doing, calling the investigations politically motivated. The DOJ is investigating Comy for his role in the twenty sixteen Trump Russia probe. Now, Trump also was on social media to announced he's nominating senior White House aide Lindsay Halligan to replace Eric Sebert, the attorney who was overseeing the mortgage fraud investigation into Letitia James. Yes, the guy who didn't sue the woman that sued Trump is out of a job. So now Trump has put somebody in there who's probably going to suit.

Speaker 1: I have to tell you, I had this story when I was trying to write it all was about three pages long because of all the back and forth and all the lawsuits, and I was like, wait, this is way too complicated. I just had to take it all out. My head was exploding. But Trump made it very clear that Siebert did not leave on his own accord. He wanted everyone to know this. Siebert didn't just walk away. No, he wrote this, he didn't quit. I fired him exclamation point, adding that he removed Sebert from his position because of his unusually strong support from Virginia's Democratic senators. That too sounds politically motivated. But who am I?

Speaker 2: He didn't quit, I fired him, as she didn't dump me. I dumped her exactly? Is that one of those things? Continuing on the run? Now? Some new and pretty remarkable rules are going into effect today for reporters covering the Pentagon, and rule number one only report what we say you can report. In a pretty stunning and unprecedented restriction on the press, the Pentagon issued a seventeen page MIMO that explains reporters must now sign a pledge agreeing now to gather or report on anything other than what excuse me, let me get that right. A pledge agreeing not to gather or report on anything other than what the Pentagon wants you to report on. Yes, folks, that is exactly what it sounds like. They are telling reporters. You have to agree that you won't report on anything other than what we give you the okay to.

Speaker 1: Report on, which is not free press. Unheard, that's unbelievable. That is so frightening. But let's go further. Here's what the government says. The Department of War remains committed to transparency. Okay, I'm confused now, to promote accountability and public trust. Wow, extra confused now, However, the Department of War information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified. This is this is not a free press. That is incredibly frightening. They've also restricted reporter's access and movements throughout the Pentagon. They will now need escorts in an area where they didn't before. Look, I was a Pentagon reporter for at least six months and way back when during the war with Iraq. To imagine that all those folks gathered in that press room have to sign a pledge, can't go to the bathroom, can't go to the wherever without an escort. This is stunning and scary.

Speaker 2: And they say they will revoke credentials if you do not abide by these rules. Critics are loudly screaming at there's reeks of intimidation. You could see though. They have had some ugly leaks, embarrassing for them, but maybe necessary for the public. Remember the chat, the signal chat, they were texting back and forth about war people.

Speaker 2: And then the Iran strikes where it came out that there was an assessment that said, yeah, maybe we didn't hit everything we wanted to hit, and that got out, so it was it's kind of been a headache. And if this is the way they solve it, my goodness. You cannot report even if it's if it is unclassified stuff, you can't say anything without our approval. That that's tough to take in.

Speaker 1: That's the scariest story of the day, all right. Next up on the Run, we head to Indianapolis, where it was an exceptionally violent weekend with a total of fifteen people shot, including a mass shooting early Sunday morning that left two people dead and five others injured.

Speaker 2: Yes, he was called on the phone during a preseason game on the sidelines. There's a very strict rule for usage of electronic devices on the sidelines. This is a major no no in terms of cheating. You can't be transmitting Possibly somebody could be in the stands and they see something happen on the posing sideline. You just can't have you passing information. So it's a big no no. It's happened during a preseason game. But apparently the team appealed, and that's why we're just getting worried about it now.

Speaker 1: Yeah, to say that's a major feet is an understatement. Styles finished at two fifty nine thirteen. Guess what that averages out to for runners out there. You will be stunned. A six to fifty minute mile. Look, I could run one of those, maybe two to do that and to hold that pace, and if you actually I was looking at, uh, how well he maintained a very solid pacing throughout. I mean it really was an impressive that's so impressive. He ran the race under the alias stead Surrandos.

Even though the Berlin Marathon is considered one of the flattest courses that can produce some of the fastest times, the conditions were tough. Oh. I know this because this happened to me too. With temperatures in the upper seventies and high humidity when you cross the finish and it's so rare. And this has happened a couple of times at Berlin where it just peaks and like every other day they say drop twenty degrees, but the day of the marathon seventy plus degrees.

Speaker 2: Oh. This is actually his second marathon this year. He ran Tokyo time of three twenty four oh seven. Now, that is an impressive time no matter where you are. But to see that he took twenty five minutes off of a pace, that is a big deal. Look, as runners, we respect this in a way that only marathon runers can understand. That is it's almost unhuman. I don't understand how he pulled.

He was reportedly injured during a stunt on Friday hitting his head.

They say he's sitting out as a precaution, expected to return to the set in a few days. Maybe. New record was set at the box office this weekend, but it was not a record setting weekend at the box office. Japanese anime movie Demon Slayer Infinity Castle filled seventy six percent from its opening weekend, but still managed to finish number one with seventeen point three million, bringing its total earnings to nearly one hundred and five million domestically.

Speaker 1: That makes the film the highest earning anime movie ever in this country, surpassing the original nineteen ninety nine Pokemon movie, which brought in eighty five million. Now here's some perspective for you. There have been more than one hundred anime movies released since two thousand, none of them have reached the fifty million dollar mark at the box office. Wow. Yeah, So that's just a kudos to this Demon Slayer movie. It's supposed to and the guy has really amazing reviews ninety eight percent on Rotten Tomatoes, so it was well done.

I have to tell you this one of the most scathing movie reviews I have ever seen. Robert Ebert dot Com gave it a half star out of four. I didn't even want to repeat what it said. It was mean, it was awful. Mean, I mean it just was like you couldn't say worse things about a movie than in this review.

The other big headline was the poor showing and poor reviews of the star studded Big Beautiful Journey.

Speaker 2: Okay, it was the Bold Journey with Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell's some fantasy romance. We actually have seen so many previews that I was curious, like, what is this about?

Speaker 1: It's called it's called a fantasy romance drama, and they were saying, part of the reason why they don't think it did well is because it didn't have that happy ending or that, you know, the the rom coms that so many young women love and drag their boyfriends to have like a formula, right, this one didn't and so it wasn't this happy. It was very dialogue driven. It just people just said it just the reviews are terrible. The acting was good. They did say that Margot Robbie and Colin Ferrell did an excellent job with the script they were given. But it just didn't just didn't line. They said it should've like opened it can and had some sort of independent following. There are all sorts of reasons why they thought it flopped, But yeah, Deadline wrote this I had to include because I loved their headline, big, bold, beautiful journey embarked on a road to nowhere at the box office, bringing in a meager three point five million dollars domestically. Yeah, that's a big flop.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law over the weekend that bans most law enforcement officers from wearing masks while carrying out their duties.

The government says the masks are necessary for the safety of officers and their families because, you know what they say, They're just doing their jobs. It was very dialogue driven. It just people just said it just the reviews are terrible. The acting was good. They did say that Margot Robbie and Colin Ferrell did an excellent job with the script they were given. But it just didn't just didn't line. They said it should've like opened it can and had some sort of independent following. There are all sorts of reasons why they thought it flopped, But yeah, Deadline wrote this I had to include because I loved their headline, big, bold, beautiful journey embarked on a road to nowhere at the box office, bringing in a meager three point five million dollars domestically. Yeah, that's a big flop.
