Look, he's done some great films, have gotten great critical reviews, but not necessarily have been blockbusters. But he is number one at the box office this weekend. Also back to back meeting for Trump today, cut into war and avoid a government shut down. Also Jimmy Kimmel, Well he was back last week. Now he's fully back. We'll explain. Also, they won't make landfall in the US, but two Atlantic storms will be a problem for US. And another city is getting National Guard troops robes. My favorite story of the morning, unfortunately, has to do with someone who passed away. We lost a member of the Tuskegee Airman but his story and his name is one I want everybody to take time and learn about this guy today.

Speaker 1: George Hardy cannot wait to share his legacy with everyone. But we begin our run in Michigan this morning, where police say a former marine open fire at a Mormon church and then set it on fire, killing at least four people and wounding eight others. Officials say the gunman drove his vehicle into the church where hundreds were attending service on Sunday morning, then he used an assault rifle to fire multiple rounds of parishioners.

Speaker 2: It's been identified now as forty year old Thomas Jacob sand They set the church on fire before ultimately getting into a shootout with police, where he was ultimately killed. Two victims died from gunshot wounds. Two others were found dead. Several others remained unaccounted for, but officials could not say how many saying the church was being cleared Sunday night after being destroyed by the fire. This was a and the scene. If you see the scene, it's as from warehouse fire. It looks like a huge fire. And to think that there was a tragedy before that tragedy.

Speaker 1: They found some incendiary devices that they don't know whether or not they went off, but there was gasoline and accelerant used in this. But this was very well planned out. More than one hundred FBI agents have been deployed to the scene to investigate how this happened, why this happened, And there was strong condemnation from President Trump, ag Bondi, the governor Whitmore, and of course the most prominent I would say political Mormon that we know is Mitt Romney. But all of them were just disgusted by what happened. Next up on the run, we have to head to North Carolina, where authority say another former marine opened fire on a crowd of people who were enjoying their Saturday night at a packed waterfront bar. He killed three people, injured five others, one of whom is described as clinging to life this attack.

Speaker 2: Quite frankly, we're not really heard of something quite like this here in the US. The shooter, who the police have now identified as forty year old Nigel Max Edge, used an assault rifle to fire indiscriminately, they say, at the crowd from a boat, in what they're calling a highly premeditated attack. The Coastguard quickly apprehended Edge, and he's now being held without bond, charged with three counts of first degree murder, five counts of attempted murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He's a combat veteran served in the Marines from two thousand and three to two thousand and nine, earned the rank of sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart a purple Heart among several other accolades for his service during the war. This is a highly decorated You don't get higher than a purple Heart.

Speaker 1: I know what happened. I know it's chilling. He changed his name two years ago. He was known as Sean Well. He was born as Shawn William Debivois. I'm not sure if I'm saying that name right, but he reportedly suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. Edge has his first court hearing later today, where we're hopefully going to get some more details. But there is so much to this story, his backstory. We're going to record a podcast on this later today, so look for it.

Speaker 1: He escorted singer Kelly Pickler to the Country Music Awards back in twenty twelve. So this was a young man who you mentioned was a highly decorated marine. But there was so much to his story. It's just confusing and incredibly tragic to see how it's all ended.

Speaker 2: Now, all right, we're going to turn now on the next leg of our run to Washington, where President Trump has a hell of a meeting schedule the next couple of days. Actually, depending on how those meetings go, a war could end and our government could shut down. First up, though, let's tell you about this first meeting. He is going to welcome a very familiar guest to the White House, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netan Yahoo. This is the fourth time during President Trump's second term that he has shown up at the White House.

Speaker 1: And the two plan to discuss Trump's proposed twenty one point plan for a peace deal. In the nearly two year Gaze Award Net and Yahoo will be at the White House for several hours this morning before a scheduled joint press conference this afternoon. President the President says he hopes to get an agreement on a framework of a deal at this meeting.

Speaker 2: All right, continuing on the run here now, we talked about the meetings, and just as the President is going to be seeing Net and Yahoo out of the world White House, the President will turn right around and welcome the top Democrats and Republicans from the House and Senate for a meeting to try to avoid a government's shut down without an agreement. The federal government is set to shut down at midnight tomorrow.

Speaker 1: On the Republican side, Senator Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson will be in attendance, and Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and ha Keem Jeffries they'll finally get that meeting with the President that they were so abruptly canceled.

Speaker 1: So far, and not a lot of confidence is being expressed that a deal can actually be reached because both sides have been trying to publicly put the flame on the other side for the shutdown. Shocking.

Speaker 2: Yeah, here's the issue. And you've heard this a lot. They've tried to call it the Trump shut down, all these things they're trying to label it as. Here's a deal. Republicans want a temporary spending measure that will allow more time to negotiate, keep the government running until we have a big deal. Democrats say no, they refuse a temporary spending bill that we keep the government open unless Republicans first agree to assurances that certain healthcare cuts won't be on the table. So before we negotiate, you have to agree to something, is what they're saying. And the other side say, hey, let's just keep talking. It's an impasse, but it is coming soon. And you just mentioned Hakeem Jefferies I guess President told them, hey, let's let's just get something on the books for later, and here we are. But yes, that meeting was what last Thursday.

Speaker 1: But not a lot of confidence here, all right. The other big meeting on the president's schedule this week is one that he wasn't originally invited to. Remember. Last week, Defense slash War Secretary Pete hag Seth some senior military leaders swim meeting in Virginia with no reason given for why they were all being told to come back. This was described as an unprecedented gathering, eight hundred plus one star generals and above all coming to Quantico.

Speaker 2: So we're saying eight hundred plus, but what is the actual count? How many people are going to show up? This is just it seemed like it was hastily put together. But the meeting is now tomorrow and the President now says he's coming. He had an interview with NBC News yesterday. He said a little insight into the meeting here that we didn't know much about. Said, they're simply going to talk about, quote, how we're doing militarily and quote talk about a lot of good positive things. Now we talked about before. You have every top military leader of the US Armed forces in one spot. That's a military I mean, that's a safety issue. Now throw into the President into the mix. He's there as well.

Speaker 1: They filed a lawsuit against the administration to keep the National Guard off the streets of their cities, in particular Portland, because the President said he is sending two hundred National Guard members to Portland because he claims the city is war ravaged.

At the requests sorry, at the request of Secretary of Homeland Security Christinome, I am directing Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to provide all necessary troops to protect war ravaged Portland and any of our ice facilities under siege from attack by Antifa and other domestic terrorists. I am also authorizing full force if necessary.

Speaker 2: Obviously, the folks in Oregon are pushing back on any idea that the city is war ravaged. They put out, of course, crime statistics that show it's about the same as last year. But what the President here is pointing to is that this summer they've had protests at the ice facility there, and yes, some of them did become clashes between protesters and law enforcement. So he's using that now as the justification for sending in troops, not continuing on the run. Now, next leg brings us back to New York, and it is official. New York will be getting a new mayor. Most folks say they knew that, yes already, but yes, Mayor Eric. Here comes another scandal. Adams has dropped out of the mayoral race.

Speaker 1: He's been polling in the single digits, short on cash, and unable to shake those corruption allegations. He did not endorse any of the other three candidates still in the race, but he did make it clear who he was not supporting Zorhan mom Donnie, the state assemblyman who was the surprise runaway winner of the primary and has remained the front runner. Former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa remain in the race.

Speaker 2: Everybody wants everybody else to drop out because they think they would have the best shot that getst Mom Donnie even if they all dropped. All the polling shows even in a two man race, Mom Donnie's going to beat anybody handily. But we shall see. Continuing on the run here, now, we had a couple of major storms churning in the Atlantic. They aren't expected to make landfall in the US, but could still ill cause US fits. First, there's Hurricane Umberto, who is a Category four storm as of this morning, hit category five at one point over the weekend. Tropical Storm Immelda is that that yes is also out there, expected to keep strengthening the next couple of days and become a hurricane at some point tomorrow.

Speaker 1: Now, both of these storms are expected to stay well off the east coast of the US, but their forecast creates life threatening conditions in some areas of the southeast, so meteorologist a warning about rip currents, dangerous surf, and flooding threats in the southeastern coast of the United States over the next couple of days.

Speaker 2: Next lega bar run takes us to Charlotte, where a maintenance crew found a dead stowaway in the landing year of an American Airlines flight that had just arrived from Europe on Sunday. Authorities offered few details, only that an investigation is underway.

You're exposed to temperatures as low as minus sixty degrees and because that area isn't pressurized, there is very little oxygen at thirty five thousand feet. He was a Tuskegee Airman and just passed away at the age of one hundred. He was the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen that actually flew a combat mission.

And I got upset about this story, not because we lost him, because he passed. All this shit happened with DII. To think a nineteen year old his service nineteen. You know what the world was like for him at night, as a black man at nineteen years old in nineteen forty four, and to think of what he did. And there are people now saying that his service should not be celebrated because he's black and you're just a DEI candidate that thing. They have wiped a lot of Tuskegee stuff off of websites and got rid of pictures because they're DEI scrubbing the place. And to think this guy at nineteen, to think of his service. He probably didn't even think his service would be ever celebrated, but to think it was and now it's been taken back, it really really bothered me this morning.

This is the second highest scoring tie in NFL history. They changed rules. But the clock hit zero and you don't keep going like you do in college. So they had a tie, and the guys hate it. Who wants to play to a tie?

They shared photos almost immediately from their wedding, Gomez simply writing nine to twenty five with Heart's, Blanco captioning his photos with I married a real life Disney princess. It was a star studded event, with wedding speeches reportedly given by both Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. That's just that's awesome.

But we begin our run in Michigan this morning, where police say a former marine open fire at a Mormon church and then set it on fire, killing at least four people and wounding eight others. Officials say the gunman drove his vehicle into the church where hundreds were attending service on Sunday morning, then he used an assault rifle to fire multiple rounds of parishioners.

Speaker 2: It's been identified now as forty year old Thomas Jacob sand They set the church on fire before ultimately getting into a shootout with police, where he was ultimately killed. Two victims died from gunshot wounds. Two others were found dead. Several others remained unaccounted for, but officials could not say how many saying the church was being cleared Sunday night after being destroyed by the fire. This was a and the scene. If you see the scene, it's as from warehouse fire. It looks like a huge fire. And to think that there was a tragedy before that tragedy.

More than one hundred FBI agents have been deployed to the scene to investigate how this happened, why this happened, And there was strong condemnation from President Trump, ag Bondi, the governor Whitmore, and of course the most prominent I would say political Mormon that we know is Mitt Romney. But all of them were just disgusted by what happened. Next up on the run, we have to head to North Carolina, where authority say another former marine opened fire on a crowd of people who were enjoying their Saturday night at a packed waterfront bar. He killed three people, injured five others, one of whom is described as clinging to life this attack.

Speaker 2: Quite frankly, we're not really heard of something quite like this here in the US. The shooter, who the police have now identified as forty year old Nigel Max Edge, used an assault rifle to fire indiscriminately, they say, at the crowd from a boat, in what they're calling a highly premeditated attack. The Coastguard quickly apprehended Edge, and he's now being held without bond, charged with three counts of first degree murder, five counts of attempted murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He's a combat veteran served in the Marines from two thousand and three to two thousand and nine, earned the rank of sergeant and was awarded a Purple Heart a purple Heart among several other accolades for his service during the war. This is a highly decorated You don't get higher than a purple Heart.

This is the fourth time during President Trump's second term that he has shown up at the White House.

Republicans want a temporary spending measure that will allow more time to negotiate, keep the government running until we have a big deal. Democrats say no, they refuse a temporary spending bill that we keep the government open unless Republicans first agree to assurances that certain healthcare cuts won't be on the table. So before we negotiate, you have to agree to something, is what they're saying. And the other side say, hey, let's just keep talking. It's an impasse, but it is coming soon. And you just mentioned Hakeem Jefferies I guess President told them, hey, let's let's just get something on the books for later, and here we are. But yes, that meeting was what last Thursday.

So he's using that now as the justification for sending in troops, not continuing on the run. Now, next leg brings us back to New York, and it is official. New York will be getting a new mayor. He did not endorse any of the other three candidates still in the race, but he did make it clear who he was not supporting Zorhan mom Donnie, the state assemblyman who was the surprise runaway winner of the primary and has remained the front runner. Former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa remain in the race.

They aren't expected to make landfall in the US, but could still ill cause US fits. First, there's Hurricane Umberto, who is a Category four storm as of this morning, hit category five at one point over the weekend. Tropical Storm Immelda is that that yes is also out there, expected to keep strengthening the next couple of days and become a hurricane at some point tomorrow.
