Speaker 1: iHeart Podcasts bring you the ultimate Summer of love Tree. This is famously available. Welcome back to Famously Available. I'm your host, Ben Higgins, And recently we told you about Mercedes and her mystery Boston man that she'd met. They went on a date in Nashville when he was in town. They had a great time, so he offered to fly her out to Boston for a weekend. Mercedes, who I would say is the most eligible bachelorette. We'll see if she still is maybe in the US right now. I'm a big proponent somebody dating Mercedes, somebody good. So we'll see if this Boston man is a good man. Is back from her trip. Now it's time for us all to get the details on what happened, good or bad.
00:00:44
Speaker 2: Mercedes, welcome back.
00:00:46
Speaker 3: Thanks.
00:00:47
Speaker 2: We're gonna call him Boston Man. Is that cool?
00:00:49
Speaker 3: Boston Man? Yep?
00:00:51
Speaker 4: I like that.
00:00:52
Speaker 2: Does that seem respectful?
00:00:54
Speaker 3: Yeah?
00:00:54
Speaker 4: I think so, Boston Man. I feel like Alex Cooper when she had like all her like little like do you remember she had all the little like side names for herman.
00:01:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what we're gonna do. This is this is fun that worked for her. It's gonna work for us. Yes, I'm not gonna start with.
00:01:10
Speaker 2: How it went. Let's dive into the details and we'll kind of close and go from there on kind of how it went.
00:01:17
Speaker 4: Uh.
00:01:17
Speaker 1: Obviously we talked when you're here last about your Salem trip. That seemed like a big trip. It was something that we were both curious about. Tell us about Salem. How is it visiting Salem?
00:01:30
Speaker 4: Honestly, it was fun because I was with him, but I would never go back. It was so touristy. I felt like in like a pack of sardines. It was like shoulder to shoulder. And also, like all the museums and stuff, they sell out really quick, so we couldn't do anything like that.
00:01:50
Speaker 3: We did go to one museum.
00:01:52
Speaker 4: And it was actually like the worst thing I've ever done. It was just so like not but the other The mannequins were like from like store mannequins and like the people. It was actually funny though, Like I kind of loved that we did it because the people just like.
00:02:08
Speaker 3: Genuinely did not like their job. They were just like.
00:02:12
Speaker 4: So here like so monotone and everyone that was like on the tour, we were like looking at each other like what the heck is going on? But no, it was still so much fun, Like obviously I was with him, but yeah, I'm glad we went.
00:02:24
Speaker 3: And I can say that I've been to Salem, but I don't think I would go back.
00:02:28
Speaker 2: Had he been before when he was younger.
00:02:31
Speaker 3: He hadn't been since he was like.
00:02:32
Speaker 1: Ten, So this was like a obviously, we know what Salem is, this seems like a fun day date.
00:02:39
Speaker 2: Let's go and explore it together. Good or bad.
00:02:42
Speaker 1: Those are some of the best times, is when it's bad, because you laugh and it's ridiculous.
00:02:48
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:02:49
Speaker 2: Then we mentioned the other big event was dinner with his cousin.
00:02:53
Speaker 3: Mm hmm uh, I'm so good. His cousin's hilarious.
00:02:58
Speaker 2: Were you nervous, honestly know.
00:03:01
Speaker 4: Which is so unlike me because usually I'm like, what are we going to talk about? Are they going to think I'm normal?
00:03:06
Speaker 3: Like I'm always like in my head.
00:03:08
Speaker 4: But no, I honestly wasn't nervous at all. Even like walking in, I was just like, all right, we're gonna do this. I don't know, we'll see how it goes. And the cousin and his girlfriend, they were so so cool. We just talked the whole time. I Mean they're like, they're all yappers and I'm a yapper.
00:03:24
Speaker 3: So it was great.
00:03:25
Speaker 2: There's a lot of yapping. Yeah they did they see you on TV at all? Did they know who you were?
00:03:32
Speaker 3: Yes?
00:03:33
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's always interesting.
00:03:36
Speaker 4: M hmm.
00:03:37
Speaker 1: My wife's family, her mom had watched me, and so that was like our first like first time we went over there. Very nice about it. It was really not brought up, just kind of in passing and then over time, obviously questions were asked just out of curiosity. There was really no judgment ever that I felt from them. What were their questions?
00:03:56
Speaker 3: Like, they were just like how, like how was it? What was your experience? Like?
00:04:01
Speaker 4: So his cousin was actually on a Bravo show called Below Deck Ah, so he like kind of understands the whatever, but he was just asking me, like how it was, how filming was just like the normal questions that people ask, you know.
00:04:16
Speaker 3: But yeah, it wasn't like because you know how sometimes people.
00:04:19
Speaker 4: Talk about it and then they don't stop talking about it and it's like all right, let's go to the next thing, like you know, but it was very brief and very like chill. There's maybe like a five minute conversation, and then we moved on and talked and then never talked about it again.
00:04:32
Speaker 1: It is interesting. I think there's it's hard to not know someone who's been on reality television. I think there's been so many and so many shows and so many seasons of shows that it. But I do think it's helpful when somebody can relate Blow Deck. Definitely, you could relate with the cameras in your face. Yeah, I think blow Deck is a lot crazier. I actually like that show. I think it's very intriguing.
00:04:57
Speaker 3: I've never watched it, but I want to watch it.
00:04:59
Speaker 1: Oh you have to. It's great, it's super fun. I mostly watch it and dream of being on a yacht one day. That's kind of what I think. Yeah, I think that's why everybody watches it.
00:05:09
Speaker 2: Literally, did you meet any other family members that weekend?
00:05:13
Speaker 4: We did go to so after dinner on Friday, we went to a little bar and his cousin was bartending.
00:05:20
Speaker 3: So I met him too, different cousin.
00:05:23
Speaker 4: He has like so much family, Like he was like, I hope you know, like in this city, I can't escape my family, like no matter where we go. Because both of his parents have a ton of siblings and they like all the cousins and everything still live in Boston and around Boston. So he's like, yeah, we can't really escape them. I'm like, I don't care. I'm like, let's come in him.
00:05:43
Speaker 3: I don't care.
00:05:45
Speaker 2: We're gonna start getting in the meat of the weekend. Here.
00:05:48
Speaker 1: One of the best things about first date or dating in general. So my wife and I have a question that we ask each other every night at dinner, and I'm going to ask you the same question. The question is what it was your highlight and what was your low light? We asked it for the day, but I'm going to ask you for the weekend. What was the highlight and what was the low light from the weekend?
00:06:10
Speaker 4: Okay, highlight is we randomly went to like this improv show and it was in the basement of a CVS and it was just like the funniest thing ever and we were just laughing the whole time and it was just a really cool show and it was super random. It was like the show was at like nine thirteen, I think at nine fifteen. We bought the tickets and got an ubern and went there. So it's very like spontaneous and like, I don't know, it's just fun seeing like what he laughed at while I laughed at, like are different like humor, and then like what we laughed at together, So that was really really fun. I would say that was definitely a highlight or a yeah, and then helloe. I felt well, I don't know if there's like one specific thing, but like I feel like something that I like wish was different about the trip was I wish I was there like one more day.
00:07:03
Speaker 3: I feel like it was really quick. I know, I know.
00:07:17
Speaker 1: You're kind of hinting at where we're going with this. Will you be seeing this guy again?
00:07:23
Speaker 4: Yes?
00:07:26
Speaker 3: Which is so crazy. I'm like, what's happening?
00:07:29
Speaker 2: This is so good. Did he listen to the show before you went on the date with him?
00:07:34
Speaker 3: Oh?
00:07:35
Speaker 1: Okay, we got to get him to do that. This is going to be good. I still want to bring him on. Did you talk ever about past relationships? Like I guess instead of that question kind of what topics stood out to you on this date you've obviously dated. You had mentioned that a lot of dates don't click for you. I think one of the consensus there was that it felt like the men you were dating, maybe weren't as intentional about getting to know you. They were maybe flaky whatever this I mean, if you want to see this guy again, it seems like things are going on the right path.
00:08:10
Speaker 2: So what did he do differently?
00:08:12
Speaker 1: What conversations did you guys have together that felt that made you feel like, Hey, I want to see you again.
00:08:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. We just taught like the way that we Yeah, I don't know.
00:08:23
Speaker 4: There's just like chemistry and I feel like I can talk to him about anything, and I'm not like.
00:08:29
Speaker 3: This is another thing that I said.
00:08:31
Speaker 4: I feel like when I've dated people in the past, I'm very like not try to be the woman that I think that they would want, But I always am like, oh are they gonna like I don't know, But with him, I'm like actually like truly myself and like it's been the most like comforting thing ever so far.
00:08:50
Speaker 3: And I feel like.
00:08:51
Speaker 4: Our conversations, I mean, we've talked about faith, we've talked about our families, we've talked about our past relationships. So we're both just like very open and I feel like we're both being open books with each other and I've never like really had that before.
00:09:08
Speaker 3: I feel like I'm always like egg like walking on eggshells a.
00:09:11
Speaker 4: Little bit, just because I'm nervous and don't want to like come off like I'm like being too much or whatever.
00:09:17
Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
00:09:18
Speaker 4: The conversations have been really really great, and we've really talked about a lot.
00:09:22
Speaker 1: So I mean, obviously, if you talked about a lot, there were things uncovered that he learned about you and that you learned about him. Is there anything you learned about him that you're willing to share with us that maybe it was just new information, maybe excited you or maybe made you take a step back.
00:09:38
Speaker 4: I don't know if they're I don't know if I want to like share. Let's see. I feel like his faith. I didn't realize that he grew up Catholic and I knew that, but I feel like this past weekend, I really like saw that he genuinely like loves faith and wants to pursue that, and I like obviously love that.
00:10:02
Speaker 3: So that was something that I was like, oh, okay, green check.
00:10:07
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:10:07
Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, after year's marriage, it is so important, I think to see the world in a similar lane, not the necessarily always the same lane. But to have that that rock that you fall back on, that you can make decisions together on that you can even have discussions and arguments and say, no, this is why I'm feeling the way I am. If you are like on two opposite ends there, I think it could be really difficult in a relationship. And I think Jessicin and I, coming from a place of faith, has like really guided us in so many great places, even through arguments. Yeah, and it's always it's always a fun conversation to discuss. Maybe not for everybody, but I like it.
00:10:53
Speaker 3: I love it.
00:10:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, we we had had this conversation last time. It was a big deal for him to fly you out there. He's obviously interested in you. I want to talk about I shared like one nugget of information about how jessic and I did long distance, and then we never left each other without another trip planned.
00:11:16
Speaker 2: So do you have another trip planned?
00:11:18
Speaker 4: There's not like a flight bot or anything, but yes, there is another trip planned.
00:11:23
Speaker 3: I think he's gonna come to Nashville next.
00:11:26
Speaker 2: Because he like Nashville.
00:11:28
Speaker 1: Seems like Boston is is like where his roots are, like deep roots.
00:11:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, No, he definitely loves Boston, but he likes Nashville too, and he has like friends here, so I feel like, and he comes here for work a lot, so he's he's gonna come here to see me in November and then he has to come back in December two.
00:11:44
Speaker 1: So Mercedes, we're gonna get to a weird place here, and I'm already sensing it. So you're gonna start getting protective of this guy, and you're gonna stop start sharing less and less about him because you're gonna care about it more and more.
00:11:57
Speaker 2: What are we gonna do about that?
00:11:58
Speaker 4: No, honest, I feel like because he knows, Like I told him on the first date that I'm doing this podcast, and I told him but it's a dating podcast, and I told him all the things, but like, he doesn't know I'm talking about him on this podcast right now. So I feel like that's why I feel what I just need to tell him and he'll be I'm sure he'll be fine with it, unless he's like, that's so weird, but he'll be.
00:12:19
Speaker 2: Fine at some point.
00:12:20
Speaker 1: I think it's fun for us, good for the audience to hear about what it's like to go on a first date, a second date, the first travel date. You know, the third date, and then all of a sudden it becomes like, hey, you're dating this guy, what else are we going to ask? You know, We're gonna start having to jump to huge questions. I do think it's important for us to get him on at some point. Yeah, I promise I won't scare him away.
00:12:45
Speaker 3: No, I don't think you will.
00:12:47
Speaker 1: I'll be your hype person. I'll tell him how great you are. But I do think we need to hear kind of from his perspective, what it's been like dating you, what he's excited about, and ask him a lot of the same questions because for the listeners out there who have tuned in, I mean goodness. Like I said, I got so many messages saying, how are you still single? And I was a great question to ask. But as you enter into this new season, I think the listeners would love to know. I would love to know who this guy is that you're so intrigued by.
00:13:21
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:13:21
Speaker 4: No, I definitely will have a conversation with him, and I think he would come on.
00:13:26
Speaker 3: I feel like he would for sure.
00:13:27
Speaker 4: So that's definitely a possibility. I seed to break the ice and ask him.
00:13:33
Speaker 2: You do it whenever it feels good for you.
00:13:35
Speaker 3: Yeah, I just don't want.
00:13:36
Speaker 4: To like scare him away, which it would never scare him away, I don't think, But I don't know. I definitely I'll definitely ask him, maybe just not today.
00:13:44
Speaker 2: No, that's fine.
00:13:45
Speaker 1: You take your time, you do it when you feel as right, but it will be something that we're very excited for. A few final questions for you. You sit in a place right now that's so exciting, is so fun. How are you feeling, like elaborate a little bit for the listeners on two dates in or two times together in you're wanting to see him again, Like what are you processing in your head? How are you feeling?
00:14:23
Speaker 3: I'm feeling like so good again.
00:14:26
Speaker 4: Like I even think back to like my exes and stuff. I've just never been I've never dated a man before, you know, like this this guy is literally like planning dates, making it so known that he's interested in me, and he tells me that I'm beautiful every.
00:14:48
Speaker 2: Day, Like I don't.
00:14:50
Speaker 4: I'm just really really excited to see where things go. I feel like it's like a long time coming to like start dating again, and I got really I don't know, I feel like I'm just really lucky to have him like as my first guy that i'd like to dive back into things, and so far it's been really really good and all.
00:15:10
Speaker 3: I'm just really excited to see where it goes.
00:15:13
Speaker 1: I told you that my first date with my wife in person, I left that date saying, this is either going to be the greatest thing to ever happen to me or the hardest heartbreak. Mm hmm, Mercedes, can you relate with that at all right now?
00:15:33
Speaker 3: Yes?
00:15:34
Speaker 4: I actually told my friends I was like, he wakes up and doesn't like me one day, I will crash out.
00:15:39
Speaker 3: It's like it'll be a full on.
00:15:41
Speaker 4: Crash out like so I definitely can relate.
00:15:47
Speaker 1: Yes, that's a good feeling. It's an exciting feeling. I can't promise where things will go, nobody can, but it's a good place to be in, especially as you're jumping back in here. Are you at a place do you feel where you? I mean, are you done dating other people?
00:16:05
Speaker 4: I mean, we haven't had that conversation, because again I've only known this man for a month. But sure, I'm definitely not like out looking really, but again we haven't had that conversation, so it's not like I'm like, just him.
00:16:25
Speaker 1: You know, yeah, not to put terrible thoughts in your head. But if he called and was like, hey, I'm going on a date tonight. I want to tell you because we haven't had the conversation yet, how would that make you feel?
00:16:35
Speaker 3: I mean I would definitely be like, damn, okay, fun Like, I'm not gonna be mad because we haven't had that conversation. But I'd be like, okay, like call me after. I guess, don't forget about me. But no, I mean I would definitely feel the type of way, but I wouldn't be like mad or anything.
00:16:57
Speaker 1: That's a very cool girl answer that. I don't think you have to give him. I think you'd be like, I don't like this idea.
00:17:04
Speaker 2: I don't want you doing this. We let's have the conversation now.
00:17:07
Speaker 3: Then, yeah, don't don't have my days.
00:17:11
Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it's very fair. You don't have to hold that back at this point.
00:17:16
Speaker 1: I mean, maybe I don't know your relationship, but it feels like it would make you feel a certain way to probably make him feel a certain way. So you're getting to the stage where that conversation might happen soon, which is so crazy.
00:17:30
Speaker 3: I literally never expected this.
00:17:33
Speaker 4: This was literally, you guys. I'm not kidding when I said it was my practice day. I actually met that because I was like, this is just this man lives in Boston, like never gonna happen.
00:17:42
Speaker 3: And now I'm like, can't stop thinking about him. It's crazy crazy like that. I know, I know, it's crazy.
00:17:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, final question for you. Obviously he is in Boston. You were just in Boston. Could you ever see yourself leaving Nashville for Boston.
00:18:00
Speaker 4: I don't know. It's really far from home. Like my brother texted me and he's like, what are you doing in Boston. I was like, Oh, I'm just here to see a friend. And he's like, well, you're really far away from home. I'm like, I know, but I think, like honestly, I would maybe not like forever obviously, but I'm would try it out. Boston's really cool. I actually like fell in love with it.
00:18:24
Speaker 1: It's a great city. Yeah, And here's the cool part of relationships. It does feel like the woman in the relationship long term kind of gets to decide where roots are planted. It feels like it like Leans more than like seventy thirty. There's some unique scenarios. But it does seem like you could at some point say, hey, I really want to get back to family.
00:18:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just how life works.
00:18:49
Speaker 1: It's great, Mercedes, we're entering into an exciting stage for you, one that all of us here are pumped for. I mean, I would love to take credit for all of this, any of this, the second of this.
00:19:05
Speaker 3: We can't.
00:19:06
Speaker 1: You did this on your own. You took the practice date, and goodness gracious, I would feel weird setting you up with anybody else. And so we're gonna follow along with this as long as you let us, and as long as you agree. I think we have a couple a couple more good segments here with you. I really, like I said, I really want to get to know him. I want to get to know where your relationship blossoms too. And then at some point, you know, we have to say goodbye.
00:19:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's that's what I mean.
00:19:34
Speaker 1: That's great, Like, yeah, and you know what I'm going to do, I'm want to take credit for I'm gonna say that our first success story. We pushed her at least back into dating.
00:19:42
Speaker 2: We pushed her, you.
00:19:43
Speaker 4: Know, no, truly you did, though, because I was like okay, almost famous about to send me on dates like, I haven't been on a date in two years. I gotta I gotta do a practice one and then yeah, so you can take credit for sure.
00:19:57
Speaker 2: Thank you. Did you end this weekend in a kiss?
00:20:00
Speaker 3: Yes? The best.
00:20:07
Speaker 2: That's a good thing too.
00:20:09
Speaker 1: Be bad if you're like, we did not a great kisser, but we'll look past that.
00:20:14
Speaker 2: But you're saying it's the best.
00:20:15
Speaker 3: It's good you are.
00:20:20
Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us today, thank you for giving us the recap. Is there anything we missed about your weekend in Boston with Boston Man that we didn't talk about that you want him to hear when he listens to this tonight.
00:20:34
Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, No, no, I think we hit everything. I'm just I'm just excited, happy to be in the spot that I'm in.
00:20:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, you deserve it. I'm glad you're excited. Well, hey, get home, rest up, have all the giggles.
00:20:51
Speaker 2: I don't know what you do too.
00:20:54
Speaker 1: I remember I remember dating and Jess and I would be like facetiming for hours a night, and I can't I can't even.
00:21:03
Speaker 2: Imagine that season anymore. I'm like, goodness, gracious, I love my wife. So much.
00:21:06
Speaker 1: I could never FaceTime her for hours any longer. So enjoy that like little season where it's like not even hard to do.
00:21:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fun.
00:21:17
Speaker 1: But I think one day you look back and be like that was wild we talked about yeah again, Mercedes, Thanks for joining us today. This has been famously available and Mercedes and Boston Man are still staying strong. We're gonna keep up to date with their dates when they're gonna see each other next Austin. Also the conversations they start to have when they start to have these conversations, exclusivity being one of those that I think probably will happen soon. And then also stay tuned. We can potentially get him on at some point when Mercedes feels like it's the right conversation to have. We won't scare him away. We're gonna hype her up. He's gonna leave that conversation probably. I mean, I'm guessing he's already young Cloud nine, but he's going to be skipping out of that room being like, I've got the best girl in the world. That's my goal, That's what I want to do.
00:22:08
Speaker 3: Amazing.
00:22:08
Speaker 2: I love it. Mercedes. Thanks for joining us, of course, thank you
Speaker 1: iHeart Podcasts bring you the ultimate Summer of love Tree. This is famously available. Welcome back to Famously Available.
