Megan Thee Stallion Dumps NBA Boyfriend ... and NOT Quietly

The internet is going wild after Megan Thee Stallion took to Instagram stories to bash her now ex-boyfriend, NBA star Klay Thompson, writing that he cheated on her while she was hanging around his "whole family playing house." Megan posted the breakup message to her fans before going on to star in her Saturday evening Broadway performance in "Moulin Rouge, The Musical." As of this recording, Thompson has not officially responded or commented, but the Grammy award winning singer has followed up on her post by confirming that she has ended her relationship with Thompson.

Speaker 1: And folks, it is Sunday, April twenty sixth. Then we have another shocking celebrity couple breakup, but they did not follow the Megan Rappino Sue Bird model in publicly breaking up with that. Welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. The couple we're talking about half of it is Megan D.

00:00:21
Speaker 2: Stallion.

00:00:21
Speaker 1: I'll ask you first, were you aware of who Megan V. Stallion was dating.

00:00:26
Speaker 3: I knew she was dating some big NBA guy, But you know how I am about the NBAS I only know like Steph Curry, and this was about it.

00:00:33
Speaker 1: Well, you know this guy was in very close proximity to Steph Curry. Yes, we're talking about Clay Thompson. If you don't know, Klay Thompson won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors as half of the Splash Brothers duo that he made with Steph Curry. So that might help people make the connection.

00:00:48
Speaker 3: Oh, that makes sense when people who were weighing in on their split and her allegations of cheating, which we will get into that someone wrote back shooter is gonna shoot what you expect.

00:00:58
Speaker 2: He's one of the best shooters in NBA.

00:00:59
Speaker 4: History and apparently he likes to shoot with more than just his hands.

00:01:02
Speaker 1: No, that is allegedly, we need to get there. You said, you didn't say. Allegedly apparently suggests a fact.

00:01:10
Speaker 3: Okay, according to Megan d Stallions mean the Stallions, so he knows how to shoot.

00:01:15
Speaker 2: These two have been.

00:01:16
Speaker 1: In a relationship for the past year at least public, and frankly we're happy for them. Let's start at the top here, Robes, Let's start with just what she said. They got all of this going. But Megan the Stallion put this out. This is on her Instagram story yesterday.

00:01:29
Speaker 3: Yes, and actually I'm trying to think because this happened on Saturday, so yesterday, the twenty fifth from our recording date. I know from a Broadway schedule she is the showstopper in Mulin Rouge and she is in the middle of her residency on this amazing Broadway show. And I think she did this in between, because you have a matinee on Saturday and then an evening show. When she did this before the evening show, test, she's ken yeah, wow. In between her Broadway shows, she went on her Instagram story and wrote this cheating had me around your whole family plan house, got cold feet holding you down through all your horrible in all caps mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season. Now you don't know if you can be monogamous for question marks. Bitch, I need a real break after this one.

00:02:24
Speaker 1: By y'all, it's really funny to hear a white woman recite the words of a black woman from Instagram story.

00:02:32
Speaker 2: But yes, she used me.

00:02:34
Speaker 3: She's got certain freezology that I was trying to capture.

00:02:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, did a good job. Okay, so we start.

00:02:39
Speaker 1: That was what got everybody talking and going and wondering, Oh my god, is she talking about.

00:02:43
Speaker 2: Blah blah blah.

00:02:44
Speaker 1: She followed up ropes and she gave a statement to TMZ absolutely confirming what she was talking about that Instagram.

00:02:51
Speaker 4: That is correct her rep. Actually let TMZ know this.

00:02:54
Speaker 3: I've made the decision to end my relationship with Clay with a K. I just added that fidelity and respect are non negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity. Look this is sad because I you know, we have been doing a deep dive and you just don't even have to go back that far. On her Instagram, she was gushing with love this man. She wanted to marry this man, and she said it, and she made no bones about it. She said she was manifesting an engagement. She has been very public with her love and admiration. She said he was the nicest guy she's ever known.

00:03:40
Speaker 1: Yes, So where we are now, Robes, is we start with that at the top. If you just heard the news that these two had broken up, this would have been a headline maker.

00:03:50
Speaker 2: Look, she is.

00:03:51
Speaker 1: What she is is an international superstar and she's been on the rise for years and years. She's on Broadway now, as you just mentioned. But she is a Grammy winning fun She's awesome. He is as high as you can get in the NBA ranks, Robes, No, he's not Steph Curry, but he is a four time champion on a very hope, high profile team at the Golden State Warriors. He got a multi time All Star. The guy can ball, even if it ain't Lebron. Just putting in perspective here. This guy is a big time player. So them together robes formed a really cool to some unexpected but in a lot of ways made sense kind of a couple.

00:04:29
Speaker 2: I was rooting for these two.

00:04:31
Speaker 4: I was too. First of all, you know Megan d. Stallion and we've met her in person.

00:04:34
Speaker 3: She is she earned her name because she's tall, and they just, I have to say, just physically.

00:04:39
Speaker 4: They just looked so great.

00:04:41
Speaker 3: Together and it was so cool to see, as you point out, people who are at the top of their fields in the midst of the heyday of their careers finding time to love and respect one another and be a couple together and be public and celebrate their love and enjoy together. Yeah, they brought us along on the ride. We were feeling it and we were rooting for them one hundred percent.

00:05:04
Speaker 1: Okay, So there were rumors last year about their dating and their signs were popping up, you know internet sluice, they're piecing it all together. It looked like they were dating, and they were seen in like the background of some of their own Instagram posts and whatnot. But then eventually they officially came out made a red carpet debut. I think it was the last June or July, so we've known about this couple robes for quite some time now as of this recording, I have not seen and you tell me if you've seen anything otherwise. Klay Thompson have an actual response to what's being said about him, because this isn't just a matter of reaction to a breakup. He is now flat out being accused of being the calls of that breakup by not being faithful to Megan v Stallion, which some would call absolutely blasphemous.

00:05:50
Speaker 3: People are saying that there is a lot of opinions online right now and the only thing that people are pointing to, and by the way, there is so much clickbait warning out there for people who are claiming that Clay has said something clapped back accused her of cheating.

00:06:05
Speaker 4: There's all sorts of stuff swirling around.

00:06:07
Speaker 3: Haven't been able to see anything that he has actually officially put out that says.

00:06:12
Speaker 4: Any of that.

00:06:13
Speaker 3: He did put a few things up on x correct where he was he looked like he was living his best life singing songs and people have looked at the lyrics of the song he was singing and trying to say if he was sending a message to folks about his reaction to her very public accusation and acknowledgment that they've broken up.

00:06:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, so nothing official again as of this recording right from him, Robes, these are difficult. We did see Sue Bird and Megan Raupino last week. Now they are different in that they are a little more, not a little more. These are iconic folks when it comes to their professions and what they've done, and when they got together. This was as iconic of a couple. And they've been together for ten years and they've worked together. So they broke up, Robes and we talked about it. It might be one of the most excellent public breakups a celebrity couple I've ever seen.

00:07:01
Speaker 3: To the point where I felt like, the only way you could break up like this, and maybe people can say I'm wrong, is if the emotion's gone, If you might have respect for one another, but that passion that love just has been gone for a while. And to me, if you've reached a position or a point of a relationship like that, which I have, and I think many people listening have also been in a relationship like that, We're actually it as painful as it is to break up and to separate and to go on your own and how scary that is. It's not as sad because it's been gone for a while. I think a lot of people can recognize. And I'm not trying to take away from their extraordinary ability to remain friends and be very amicable in their public breakup. That's to be admired, and perhaps we should, actually anyone should take notes about how they did it.

00:07:52
Speaker 4: But I do think it speaks.

00:07:53
Speaker 3: To perhaps the ability to do that comes from a lack of passion. And they always say the opposite of love or the opposite of passion is basically being ambivalent, and so you don't feel angry. What we're seeing right now with Megandee Stallion, she is hurt, she is upset. She loved that man, and I'm not saying he doesn't love her, but I actually I know it's kind of a here's what to do and here's what not to do.

00:08:17
Speaker 4: But man, I also just I see her.

00:08:19
Speaker 3: Pain, and I think a lot of people understand where she's coming from and why she maybe flew off. Maybe she doesn't regret it, Maybe she stands by the post and says, I'd do it again tomorrow if I found out again.

00:08:30
Speaker 4: But to me, that just spoke to.

00:08:32
Speaker 1: Her hurt and robes if he again, he hasn't responded, and we don't know. Let's make sure that's said out loud. We've heard what she said, we haven't heard what he's said or going to say. If anything, but Robes, if this did happen the way she said it happened, If in fact, she believes that her boyfriend of a year plus, the man she wanted to marry, stepped out on her and was with some other woman, that I think. I think her first post was mild compared to what she could have done, compared to what we do know of her being outspoken, what we know of her even through her lyrics, she could have gone ham on this dude, and she did not.

00:09:16
Speaker 4: Well wait for the next album.

00:09:19
Speaker 1: Because Cardi B was done wrong and she made a whole album about that.

00:09:24
Speaker 4: I mean, look, this should be a cautionary tale.

00:09:26
Speaker 3: You date a singer songwriter, and especially someone who isn't afraid to say what they're feeling and why they're feeling it and who they're feeling it about, you probably should be careful before you enter into a relationship with Taylor Swift Cardi B. Maybe Meganie Stallion, because look, the part of their music and their talent comes from authenticity and putting real meaning behind their lyrics. So I can't even imagine the music that's going to come out of Megandie Stallion after this. Just seeing this little Instagram post, this could be mild compared to what may be coming and what happened.

00:10:00
Speaker 2: I started thinking about her.

00:10:03
Speaker 1: It wasn't it was weeks right that she was taken to the hospital right exhaustion. They said she had to go to the left the show. In the middle of the show, you start thinking, what has she been going through? What is happening? What has been happening? He is just finishing up ropes. He just finished his NBA season, Like what was that? Like the strains on that relationship. He's having to bounce all over the country playing basketball. She has to be in one spot six nights a week performing.

00:10:29
Speaker 3: Uh yes, eight shows a week's and to the point where she was so exhausted after her first week and a half she had to go to the hospital and said she wasn't taking care of herself. You know what, You make such a good point. Doesn't everyone relate to this in a relationship? You've got all this stress. You guys are.

00:10:44
Speaker 4: Pulled apart for incredible work reasons.

00:10:47
Speaker 3: Right, you're busting your butts, and you can't wait when it all when that pressure is gone and you can actually just be together. But the expectations sometimes are so high. When it doesn't actually match what you or meet your expectations, all hell can break loose.

00:11:01
Speaker 1: And again we don't know, but I was rooting for these two. I was rooting for this relationship. But stay here and we'll explain a little more so from some personal experience, why we were so excited for Clay to be in a relationship with Megan. Stay here, all right, continuing here on Amy and TJ. Megan and Clay didn't get the Megan into memo about how to break up publicly, and nor should and make sure heroes not suggesting making the stallion can handle this however she wants to, however she's feeling. She's a very public person. She has not been shy about saying a lot of stuff. Why should we be surprised that she's not shy about talking about a breakup either.

00:11:57
Speaker 3: Look, and again we don't We haven't heard from Clay, so we don't know what his side of the story is. But I do think women, and I think her fans appreciate her authenticity. She has always been somebody who shoots straight from the hip. She does not mince words, and she didn't this time either. And look, I think you.

00:12:13
Speaker 4: Can feel and understand her pain.

00:12:15
Speaker 3: And I'm not saying it's the right thing to do or what women should do or what men should do when they're angry and upset at their ex, especially when they have a public platform like she does. But I do think there is just some real authenticity there that I get and I respect.

00:12:31
Speaker 1: There's also robes when you want. I don't know who was around her in that moment. Sure she could have called the girlfriend. She could have, but what's an outlet. You want to scream, you want to yell, you want to get back at somebody who's not in front of you. Pick up that phone and start typing and hit sind. And when you hit that sind, it feels good. You're like a got you mom? It does It really is a may Again, we may be in speculating, but Dike, you said, did you not say it was between shows?

00:13:02
Speaker 4: I believe it was before her Saturday.

00:13:04
Speaker 3: Man if we you know, last Saturday we went to go see Chess, and we do and we need to get our stuff together because we do want to see her in Mulan Rouge and she has a limited showing here. But I had actually thought about getting tickets for funny enough last night except for Annalise, my our oldest came back for our youngest excuse me, came back from college.

00:13:22
Speaker 4: Get them confused? Yeah, I mean so, okay, she's.

00:13:25
Speaker 3: The middle child, I guess between us, all right, Anna's in the middle. But she was coming up from college this weekend, so I was like, okay, maybe maybe in another week or so, but how funny would it have been? Because I bet you, like I bet you she probably had the best performance of her life after she got that off, or she was barely holding it together. But there was emotion in between shows on Broadway list.

00:13:45
Speaker 1: I can't tell rope because there are those pictures of people who are at the show who are trying to re eat her face correct, and I don't know if you can at all what to say about that. But this is where we are again. We don't know, So we have a tendency robe to take sides and apart and she's right or he's right, or eating that back and forth. And these are two people who, like anybody else, are in a relationship and dealing with something. They just have to deal with it publicly. We don't know what that something is. Wa Clay Thompson is the guy I spent five years with every June for five straight years, because they were in the NBA Finals for five straight years. And I covered every single one of those NBA finals, And I spent countless amounts of time with Steph and Draymond and Clay and coach Kerr and.

00:14:35
Speaker 2: That whole group.

00:14:35
Speaker 1: Now I got I'm not saying I know Clay well, but Clay and I over years got better and.

00:14:41
Speaker 2: Better because he was the shy, quiet, reserved kid.

00:14:46
Speaker 1: He was while everybody else is doing their thing and they're going out and parting, got families, He had a dog at the house.

00:14:52
Speaker 2: He likes to go voting by himself.

00:14:53
Speaker 1: He's just a to himself kind of loner, different dude, and so he rarely rogues until I swear it might have been the last year I covered, but Roes. We even joked and talked about how much he had come out of his shell, even in having a conversation with me over years. Right, twenty fifteen, he's one way. By twenty twenty, he's a whole different guy. So when he got into a relationship with Megan D. Stallion, it was like a whole new world opened up for Klay.

00:15:24
Speaker 2: Thompson and I was happy to see it.

00:15:27
Speaker 1: Like, of all people I could think of him with Megan, like, hell yeah, I like that.

00:15:32
Speaker 2: I like that a lot for him.

00:15:34
Speaker 4: Yeah, like Yin and Yang. Like he's shy, she's not. It works out.

00:15:37
Speaker 3: They both know what the spotlight feels like and to be at the top of their game.

00:15:41
Speaker 4: And by the way, he's thirty six years old.

00:15:43
Speaker 3: He's not some young baller who's out there and I don't know what he does on his off time. But obviously NBA players have reputations, and obviously anyone who dates an NBA player is very aware of those reputations.

00:15:55
Speaker 4: What do you mean, I think you know exactly what.

00:15:57
Speaker 3: I don't know what NBA and then on and off the field, I let's just say that you're.

00:16:03
Speaker 2: Gonna put all of them in the same.

00:16:05
Speaker 4: You know, there is a reputation.

00:16:08
Speaker 1: Among who and you know what I was about to throw out Lebron. I was a proud to throw out Steph Curry. I was about to throw out people who we know as being big time stars and big time family man.

00:16:19
Speaker 4: Yep, there are there are those outliers.

00:16:22
Speaker 1: But ayes, I'm giving you shit here because it's a bunch of single dudes in the NBA, and it's a bunch of dudes who aren't saying a lot of money still bounce around city the city, the city. And okay, fine, understood, but this was at least robes. Up to this point, I hadn't heard anything about that at least when it comes to these two, and thought they were doing well.

00:16:41
Speaker 3: Look, you know, you know, I went back because I'm look, I think we all are rooting for love and even began.

00:16:48
Speaker 4: They's telling you.

00:16:48
Speaker 3: One of her quotes about Clay was that I love love, and I love being in love, and I love this man.

00:16:54
Speaker 4: But she like, just a month ago he came to watch her.

00:16:57
Speaker 3: Make her debut Lan Rouge and showed this adorable photo of them. It's from March twenty fifth, so literally one month ago here in New York City, his arms around her. They're back in her hotel room after the show and just said New York City.

00:17:12
Speaker 4: And had a She was just they were seemingly doing really well four weeks ago, so it's just sad.

00:17:18
Speaker 3: It's so sad to think that they had made it through almost a full I guess a year good. They weren't official until July, but they had been seeing each other behind the scenes before they went official.

00:17:27
Speaker 4: So yeah, and she hoped, she had she had dreams, she had hopes.

00:17:30
Speaker 3: I know that a lot of it is in these moments we regret or we are nostalgic about what we thought our relationship could be or should be.

00:17:39
Speaker 4: And I guess we even do that with celebrities too, Yeah.

00:17:43
Speaker 2: Because sometimes you genuinely root for these people. These are folks.

00:17:46
Speaker 1: No we're not close to, but we have been in close proximity too and spent time with and not just hi, how you're doing. These are folks that we actually got to know to the point that you're rooting for them personally, not just professionally by what we see their talents being. And this sucks and to you know me, crazy to hell, I'm still rooting for Ben and Jin. So if there's any chance that Megan and Clay or Rappino and Sue Berg can get back together.

00:18:11
Speaker 2: I'm all at that for it.

00:18:12
Speaker 3: Funny now, Clay, So, what's so the NBA Finals are going on right now. He's playoffs, no unplian So he's done. She's probably got what two more weeks or so left to go, But she Megandie Sallion has to go on tonight, like with all this drama and all this stuff. One show today, two shows on Saturday, one show today, they're dark on Mondays, but back at it on Tuesday. And so she's in the thick of it, and she has really a history making role. She's playing Zidler, who is basically the narrator and the basically the ring leader of Mula Rouge. So she's in almost everything. She is a tremendous role and big.

00:18:49
Speaker 4: Shoes that she's filling.

00:18:50
Speaker 3: She's the first female to ever play this role on Broadway. Pretty cool, and she is killing it by all accounts, she's selling out the show.

00:18:58
Speaker 1: So I keep killing it, keep selling it out, keep doing wonderfully and right roads we see so much success. I know it's wonderful, that professional success, but man, those personal dealings and maybe even she might feel as failings the personal side of it. It's just you say it sometimes jokingly. They're just like us. Well yeah, they actually are in a lot of ways. She's hurting just like you did and I did and all of us did and whatever relationship that didn't work out the way we thought it would. So love Toamegan the Stallion, Clay waiting to hear from your brother and see what's going on there.

00:19:32
Speaker 2: But just it sucks.

00:19:33
Speaker 3: It does, it does, and just wanted to keep you updated on that and if anything develops, certainly of places anything we'll hop back on. But we always appreciate you listening to us. I'm Mami Robot alongside TJ.

00:19:43
Speaker 4: Holmes. We will talk to you, said
