Luke Skywalker Has Gone to the Dark Side; Actor Posts Fake Image Of Trump DEAD

Actor Mark Hamill has shared an AI image of President Trump in a grave, pushing up daisies, with a headstone reading 1947-2024 with the caption “If Only.” The White House has responded on X, calling Hamill “one sick individual” and points out that rhetoric like this is what inspired three assassination attempts against Trump. Hamill is getting ripped by many on X, but on his blue sky account, he’s inspired multiple more memes with users also wishing for the president’s demise.

Speaker 1: Hey, that folks. It is Thursday, May seventh, and Luke Skywalker has finally gone over to the dark side. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ, an episode we didn't anticipate doing, but just a short time ago, the White House has responded to actor Mark Hamill's posts depicting the President in a grave with a headstone. So, Robes, I want to start first with just your reaction. I left the room, you came into our studio. I said, hey, take a look at what Mark Hamill posted and the White House response just seeing the image, what was your reaction.

00:00:39
Speaker 2: That, Yes, that Mark Hamill, who we've met and interviewed and liked and appreciate his work. Then and now, why why did he have to go to the dark side. I don't like it when people meet others where they are and in criticizing one side, go just as low, if not lower. I don't appreciate it. I don't like it. I don't think it's funny. I don't think we should be celebrating or wishing for anyone's death.

00:01:07
Speaker 1: This thing was shocking, Robes. Shocking's certainly given the events of the past two weeks. We just had the White House Correspondents Dinner. This is a president who has had three like legit people have been charged, right, he has had three attempts on his life, one very recently. And I said this Robe, and we discussed this when Jimmy Kimmel made that joke, right even before the White House Correspondents Dinner, he made a joke talking about she looks like an expectant widow, right Milania. Even then we said, man, why dip back into this well, even make a suggestion about the death of the president. This image, which is AI generated, I guess robes. I just don't know how this helps our conversation.

00:01:52
Speaker 3: It doesn't. It lowers our conversation.

00:01:55
Speaker 2: It provides ammunition for both sides to keep saying all awful, terrible, violent rhetoric and hurling at one another, pointing the finger at the other side, and nobody wins. I don't know what this post that Mark Hamill put up accomplishes other than to really upset the other side. Potentially emboldens someone who's on the other side of things, who agrees with this image, who would like to see President Trump no longer living at worst case scenario, there is an argument that this type of thing from someone like Mark Hamill, who portrayed one of the greatest fighters that people have grown up loving, respecting, admiring, wanted to be like when he puts out rhetoric like this, it does matter and it could inspire someone a whack job to do something that maybe they were just thinking about roops.

00:02:57
Speaker 1: They charged Camy and it just said eighty six. It was just some shells with some numbers, and they went after him. And of charging this guy for a tack or inciting violence against the president, Why are they gonna do with this? You think they're gonna sue? Excuse me, how to bring charges against Luke Skywalker?

00:03:18
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:03:19
Speaker 2: I don't know the law well enough to know where the line is what is inciting violence against the president of the United States and what is just free speech.

00:03:31
Speaker 3: I don't know where the line is.

00:03:33
Speaker 2: The Department of Justice obviously has chosen to pursue former FBI director James Comy.

00:03:38
Speaker 3: They say it's more than just the seashell picture.

00:03:40
Speaker 2: They say they have other evidence that points to a pattern of behavior that has potentially or that could potentially insite violence against the president.

00:03:49
Speaker 3: I don't know if this is a one off.

00:03:50
Speaker 2: I mean, clearly, Mark Hamill, the actor, has not been shy about his feelings towards President Trump, but this takes it to a whole other level.

00:03:57
Speaker 1: I don't know anyway where this is okay. Any explanation I can hear for why this is okay, even if you say, take a joke, it's just a I generated oh the other side. Does it? Is any of that stuff a good enough reason? We do not know. But let's tell you what this thing says and was its show and what it shows. And we're talking about actor Mark Hamill. He put this out late yesterday afternoon, not on X but on Blue Sky. That's another social media platform very similar to Twitter. But when Elon Musk, a lot of folks will remember, took over X, a lot of people got upset and say, well, I'm not gonna post on here anymore. And they that was when he was in the middle of He's the doge guy, right, he was very aligned with the president. So we're gonna go over to this new thing, Blue Sky. So it is viewed robes as a place is a safe place for liberals to say anything they want to say. So that's where we are. Mark Hamill made a big deal about leaving Twitter X excuse me a couple of years ago. So now he's on Blue Sky and he put this up yesterday afternoon, which is now getting attention, including from the White House.

00:04:59
Speaker 2: Yes, so it's and look, I don't like looking at this, no matter how you feel about President Trump. It shows President Trump in his suit with a red tie, literally half been half out of a grave, with dirt on him and daisies all around.

00:05:13
Speaker 3: He's pushing up daisies.

00:05:16
Speaker 2: Is it looks like his dead body with his hands folded in front of him and his headstone. A headstone is above him, saying Donald J. Trump nineteen forty six to twenty twenty four, and then the words over this image, this AI generated image of a dead Trump pushing up daisies. It just reads, if only that is disturbing. Now there was and is a caption that goes along with it. We'll read that to you as well. So then it says, if only he should live long enough to witness his inevitable, devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted, and humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he'll be disgraced in the history books forevermore hashtag don the Khan?

00:06:08
Speaker 1: What is that supposed to? What is he trying to I mean, he's trying to be cute in some way. What is he trying to say? Because the date right, twenty twenty four could be a reference to if only he had been shot and killed, yes, because that's the year of the assassination.

00:06:25
Speaker 2: A lot of folks believe that he is referencing the first assassination attempt where he was actually hit in the ear there in Butler correct in Butler, Pennsylvania and saying if only now. Maybe he adds this caption to say, if only he should live long enough to witness, to try and counter any claims that he's saying he wishes he were dead.

00:06:47
Speaker 3: I don't know if that's even.

00:06:48
Speaker 2: Right, because I saw some liberals saying he's saying that he wants the president to live, to live long enough to see the damage that he's created. But he's showing an image of the president dead in twenty twenty four with the words if only so.

00:07:05
Speaker 3: I think that's a tough argument to make.

00:07:07
Speaker 1: But why is anybody trying to Why is there nothing more to say about this than you know what, even if you support Mark Hamill, even if you hate this president, is do we not realize that is decent folks, and go, you know what, that probably shouldn't go up, probably should come down. Even if you don't push for an apology. How could anybody go along with this and excuse and say, given where we are with our rhetoric, that this is okay. But he's given permission Robes right, The president has, Kevin Newsom has every other politician excuse me, not every other, but many others have given permission to speak this way. If Mark Hamill can do it, if the president can do it, then me sitting over here in my little community in the Midwest or in the South, in the West, I can say whatever I want to say. It's no big deal. They can do it, and little o me I certainly can do it. This is our rhetoric. Now, that's how we discuss things. That's how we talk about it. You're right, it's a disturbing image. Look, this is our president. Sorry, folks, you don't agree with it, but this is the United States of America. That's our president. Making a light joke of some kind about his death, and an image like that robes his family has to see that.

00:08:19
Speaker 2: No, it's not funny or cute in any way, and it wouldn't be funny or cute. I don't think about making a meme or an AI generated photo of anybody, but certainly not a sitting president, and certainly not a sitting president who's already had three attempts on his life.

00:08:36
Speaker 1: And one very days ago. Days ago. I don't know. Look, Mark Hamill is seventy four this year crazy and he's seventy four. He's still active, he's still acting. He robes, Like you said, he has been a long time critic, and again, Robes is hard to put in the context, but he played one of the most culturally significant roles in the history of cinema history. He was in all of those the first three and the second three they did. He reprised this role. He is as iconic as it gets when it comes to movies. Robes. So to what you were saying, when somebody like this elevates bottom feeder rhetoric, this is awful stuff.

00:09:24
Speaker 2: It's a damn shame because he does have a platform, because people have grown up like us, looking up to him and love.

00:09:33
Speaker 3: I loved him.

00:09:34
Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, Star Wars is a kid, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leah.

00:09:40
Speaker 3: I was obsessed, as were.

00:09:41
Speaker 2: So many people, and people of other generations have grown up loving him watching those movies.

00:09:47
Speaker 3: His iconic role is Luke Skywalker.

00:09:49
Speaker 2: So he does have a platform, he does have a following, he has avid fans. Think about the good he could do with that, and he could still have a political agenda. He can have a political var he can have a viewpoint, but he could do good with his words and his power and his platform. Instead of wishing the president dead, What good does that do? What is the point of that? Yes, you get attention, Yes you get a lot of people talking about you, But is that what he wants? As a seventy four year old person who has achieved so much in his life, does he really want this to be what people remember him for.

00:10:23
Speaker 3: I just I don't understand the logica behind it.

00:10:26
Speaker 2: I don't understand who wins in this, What good comes out of this With the benefit for putting anything out there in.

00:10:31
Speaker 3: The world like this is.

00:10:33
Speaker 2: I wish people would stop and think about the impact of what they're doing and saying versus how funny it might be, or how many likes they might get, or what attention they might receive. That's not making a point. That's going low and it's a cheap, unnecessary, disturbing, and potentially dangerous shot to make it.

00:10:51
Speaker 1: Somebody, he just made me think of something, Robes that it has gotten to the point with that we we get so used to some of the rhetoric that it does have to get this awful to even get attention. Are they having to try to outdo each other to get attention now, because we've almost become desensitive to them calling each other's liars and bombs and scum and so now this is the thing that gets attention.

00:11:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, because President Trump recently celebrated the death of Robert Muller. So you have these awful, terrible, just posts that seem almost inhuman and certainly not decent and certainly not becoming of anyone who's achieved as much as President Trump has or Mark.

00:11:39
Speaker 1: Hamill has to some degree. For a Mark Hamill defender, can you just say, you know, to seventy four, seventy five years old this year, he's been there, done that. Soon enough he can say what he wants to do and post what he wants to post. He has an agenda, and he has an opinion, and he has his right to speak, and can we I don't know. No cooler head seemed to be prevailing in any of this, Like this was two weeks ago that somebody ran through a magnetometer trying sprinting towards the president armed. How can you even cross your mind to put this out? I don't know, I do not know. But he is getting ripped obviously on Twitter. However, he is getting a lot of support and it is scary as hell. Stay here, all right, folks. We continue here on Amy and TJ. We did get, as we mentioned, a response from the White House robes about this post that Mark Hamill has put up depicting the president in a grave as dead in a grave. The White House has several accounts, one of them the regular White House on X, but they have one literally called Rapid Risks Sponds forty seven, and its job is to do just that when stuff happens, just put it out. And they were on top of this one.

00:13:07
Speaker 2: Yes, this is as of this recording. This was just a few hours ago. Rapid Response forty seven put this out on X Mark Hamill is one sick individual. These radical left lunatics just can't help themselves. This kind of rhetoric is exactly what has inspired three assassination attempts in two years against our president. And they had Mark Hamill's post underneath it where you see the picture of President Trump pushing up daisies with the words if only with his nineteen forty six to twenty twenty four, even if you can let.

00:13:43
Speaker 1: Him, if you can never prove that this or something like this leads to tragedy, leads to somebody, even if you can't, it's just not decent. It's just a weird It's just bizarre that someone of his accoun just bizarre that anybody would do this. Robes he is getting on x on Twitter where the White House put that out Robes. I don't know if you read through much of that stuff, but Mark Amill is getting his Jedi ass handed to him right now online. However, Robes on Blue Sky, I could not find a response that was negative. Okay, I'm sure there's one in there. I didn't go all the way down, but I'm saying I just started reading the responses and there was nobody taking him to task. We just said. Obviously people who follow him may be more so leaning to the liberal side given his views, and so I guess many of these people responding would just be people that like him.

00:14:38
Speaker 3: Well, isn't Blue Sky a lot?

00:14:40
Speaker 2: I know obviously it was created in response to Elon Musk taking over Twitter and calling it x But isn't it like, in a way truth social and that true social is pretty much all Republicans, Maga, etc.

00:14:55
Speaker 3: And Blue Sky is kind of pretty much all liberals.

00:14:58
Speaker 1: That is certainly what the impression, what we'd already always heard about it. Today was the first time I'm seeing the evidence of it. We don't spend much time on Blue Sky at all, but rodes all the response is Someone responds with a meme that says I live in the United States of is he dead? Yet? Another showing the White House with the grim Reaper hold on I'm coming, Another with a headstone Trump please wash wash hands after urinating, another a fake post depicting from Trump saying I'm dead, thank you for your attention to this matter. Another the gulf of is he dead yet? Yeah?

00:15:41
Speaker 2: And that's the problem, because that's scary when you start to see that many people.

00:15:46
Speaker 3: Woh wow.

00:15:48
Speaker 2: Okay, that's someone wrote people are pissed off that Trump keeps falling asleep, and it shows Trump falling asleep at a meeting, which we've certainly seen. Underneath it, I'm pissed off that Trump keeps waking up. And see, this is concerning when you start to now legitimize making a statement like I wish the president is dead. There's another meme underneath saying if Trump is gone before I wake, I pray to God the news ain't fake.

00:16:12
Speaker 3: That is so scary.

00:16:14
Speaker 2: Because look, this all can seem funny, this all can seem clever and haha, chuckle, chuckle, except for you've got people who look at someone like Mark Hamill admire him and say, you know what, I got this, Luke Skywalker.

00:16:31
Speaker 3: I just worry about that, I truly do.

00:16:34
Speaker 2: And just even seeing how many people are now responding to what we believe, and I think most decent humans believe, regardless of your politics, think it's a disgusting, deplorable thing to do. Now coming up with their own memes showing Trump and a coffin saying make America great again.

00:16:49
Speaker 1: It says in the captain, this is beautiful. I love that for him Robes. This is we I just went down. I just went down the list so I didn't have to go searching for these. This is happening. Can't wait for that day, what Robes. So this is what I mean to where we think these are just outliers and a random person here and there. This is a collection of Americans in rapid secession, here almost making light. I wish him dead. We just got to do better. That's all ropes. I guess that's it. We gotta do better. And I guess it's up to us individually. We can't turn to anybody, no matter how much we like them in a movie, no matter how much we like them in the White House. We somebody's got to do better.

00:17:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I just it's so strange to me that this is not just accepted or.

00:17:45
Speaker 3: Tolerated. It's celebrated.

00:17:48
Speaker 2: And it's almost who can come up with a funnier, more clever way of saying something really awful obscene and we'll find out if it's illegal or not.

00:17:56
Speaker 3: I don't know where the line is. I don't know.

00:18:00
Speaker 2: I don't know what the DOJ looks at, what the White House looks at, and what determines whether or not something is inciting violence or something is just free speech.

00:18:09
Speaker 1: Don't they take the queue from the president if he wants this guy many believe take the queue from the president. Many believe Van Bonnie doesn't have a job right now because she didn't take a good enough queue and charge enough folks that he wanted charge. So I guess we'll follow the President's guidance on this. How upset is he going to be? I've been staring at his true social since we've been recording this, just waiting for his response.

00:18:32
Speaker 2: Well if we get one, and I can't imagine we won't hear something more from the White House given all of the attention this is now getting. So we will of course keep our eye on this developing story.

00:18:43
Speaker 3: But we always appreciate you listening to us. Everyone. I'm Amy Roebuck alongside TJ. Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
