Love Island Love Lessons: Why Won’t You Believe In Love #brinity #toogoodtobetrue
So many people are skeptical of the love story that brought us to tears last night: watching Bryce and Trinity reuniting after pining away for one another in Casa Amor. Come on, how could they each fake those tearful confessionals apart? How could they know what the other was feeling or thinking, and when would they have had a private space to come up with a plan? Nah, we believe in their slow burn friendship turned romance and we are rooting for them to the very end.

Speaker 1: Hey, folks, it is Saturday, June twenty seventh, and we are watching a love story unfold right before our eyes. It is the story of the season of Love Island. They already even have their own nickname, Grinity. So why is it some people, plenty, some loud voices are calling bs on their love story with that welcome to this Love Island love lesson edition of Amy and TJ. I did not know there were this many voices and this many loud ones saying that the story of the season for me ain't real.
00:00:41
Speaker 2: I'm shocked.
00:00:42
Speaker 3: To be honest, I get it. Reality TV isn't reality. I understand the healthy skepticism we should all perhaps view these types of shows through it's a healthy lens. But I am Call me a sucker, call me naive, call me somebody.
00:01:00
Speaker 2: Who just loves love.
00:01:02
Speaker 3: But I believe in the real feelings being shared between Bryce and Trinity.
00:01:08
Speaker 1: Okay, how can we not? What signs? What signs do we have that it's not true? And the only one I'm seeing robes is that it's too good to be true.
00:01:18
Speaker 3: That's exactly what folks are saying, that they don't believe that they each could be crying separate from one another, pining away from one another.
00:01:27
Speaker 2: No one's ever seen.
00:01:28
Speaker 3: They claim a man, a male contestant on Love Island literally pout and be depressed and.
00:01:35
Speaker 2: Cry during Casa amore.
00:01:37
Speaker 3: That is the opposite of what has happened typically with almost every other man, regardless of the relationship they're in.
00:01:44
Speaker 1: Okay, so it's just unbelievable, is what some are saying. Now you can add to that a little bit, and that the suggestion we see him cry, but it was the fact that both of them were crying separately, robes. That's not just a suggestion. This is unlikely or performative but planned.
00:02:00
Speaker 3: Yes, there is a suggestion by a whole group of people online who believe this is all they're playing us, that Bryce is pretending to win, that there's no way that they have this deep of a feeling for one another, and that this is all put on to win the one hundred thousand dollars. So people are very skeptical that Brinity is for real because they just won't believe that true love can happen on television that quickly.
00:02:28
Speaker 1: Okay, so can I ask, though this isn't the biggest point of us talking here, but what if they are playing us, if they are playing a game so they can win that money and get out of there and get the biggest endorsements in all this, Is there anything wrong with that?
00:02:42
Speaker 3: It is a game, Yes, But I do think to fake how you feel and to misrepresent how you feel to win money is not something that is admirable or likable or in any way encouraged in the show. Now, we love the show because we like its authenticity, even when it's ugly, even when it's messy, even when it's a dramatic. And some people would say especially when it's all of those things, but I would say especially when it's when you find love, when someone finds a connection. Look, people are comparing them to last season's Nick and Landria, and their people doubt their love.
00:03:16
Speaker 2: You want to know why.
00:03:17
Speaker 3: A Maybe because it's inter racial and a lot of people have talked about how that could be. There's a level of skepticism that uh that two people from different races black white could actually fall in love with one another, which is sad that that is still a conversation.
00:03:30
Speaker 2: And number two, that they were.
00:03:33
Speaker 3: Such good friends first, both Nick and Orlandria and Bryce and Trinity it.
00:03:40
Speaker 2: Was a slow burn. It wasn't some immediate fireworks. It wasn't lust at first.
00:03:45
Speaker 3: Sight, it was hmm, this is interesting, and then they built it. And I think that's why they actually have such deep feelings for one another that seem very genuine.
00:03:54
Speaker 1: Okay, so what we are what they're teaching us at this point is are they teaching us something? Are we learning something here about ourselves as the audience? It's I think both are people reacting in this way and we're not saying it's the overwhelming attitude out there, but it is. There's more of a drumbead than I thought robes. Are they showing us just how what unhappy we are? How are they showing us how disappointed we are in our own lives, our own relationships, how our own relationships have gone. That we see something happening in front of us, and we refuse to believe it. We just don't think it's possible.
00:04:40
Speaker 3: Sadly, I think there is a large portion of this country and I have been there. I know I believe you've been there too, where yes, you're unhappy, it's not that you're rooting for anyone else to be unhappy or as miserable as you might be, but you need to believe that this kind of display isn't real, that it's fake and it's a put on, because no one could actually feel that way.
00:05:02
Speaker 2: Number one.
00:05:03
Speaker 3: Number two, you also just want to believe Okay, fine, that's now, but wait till they get outside the villa. People love to say they won't last more than one week, you know that, because we need to believe that. I think sometimes to justify or at least to not feel as bad about our own situations or our own relationships. So I think there are those people who just choose to not believe it because to believe it would be too painful to recognize where our own relationships are.
00:05:30
Speaker 1: That is something that in recent years, this wasn't us, but this is People talk about this all the time. But doctor Jeff Gardier is somebody that helped us through some of the difficulties we had to pass several years as roads. But he talked about and I stopped and thought about it, and it makes you have a more sympathetic ear and kinder when you do hear people. Last out, when you do hear people, they're not bad folks who have these attitudes, who are doubting this relationship, not at all, But it does say something about where we are, where we sit, and the lens through which we view other relationships. Love the possibilities. It's that's fascinating to me. Bro, didn't you? I asked you to grab them for me? Here? You you were reading all the comments, you were We were in the kitchen a little while ago, having breakfast, and I was cooking per usual, and you were looking at the computer. I kept hearing you just laugh out loud.
00:06:29
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I mean, I actually am just so surprised at how.
00:06:34
Speaker 2: Skeptical people are.
00:06:36
Speaker 3: But this is where we are. Yes, So it's this whole question. Do y'all think Bryce and Trinity are playing it safe? Or do they genuinely miss each other? Do they genuinely like each other? People are like it's giving they plan this. Someone actually said this, damn can two people not really like each other? Have y'all been so damaged to where you can tell if someone is genuine or not? People have said that this is hilarious. They actually think that they've gone and done a deep dive on Bryce's social media and its that he hasn't followed one black woman.
00:07:12
Speaker 2: This is all an act.
00:07:13
Speaker 3: He doesn't really like her, and so they're really more than questioning Trinity, They're really questioning Bryce. They're questioning his They're questioning if he likes men or women. They're questioning if he likes black women. It's like anything they can do to poke holes in this relationship that, I'm sorry brought me to absolute tears.
00:07:36
Speaker 1: And I guess some of that should be said as well and understandable. Some of this is folks trying to protect her, like she is the fan favorite on the show. Here, she is the star of the show, and I think she's building her her audience in her little army, and I think some of that might be just they're looking out for her.
00:07:56
Speaker 3: Maybe. So Bryce is a trickster. He's not tricking me though he's tricking y'all. Someone said they both was crying and the confessionals you can't fake that.
00:08:06
Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I go with that too.
00:08:09
Speaker 3: They had no way of knowing what the other person was doing. And look, they have not had No one has a private moment to have words, to have a discussion, to make a plan that I'm aware of the way I understand this program to exist, you don't even when they go away and they whisper, and they hide and they kiss.
00:08:29
Speaker 2: We can all still see them in America. We can all hear their mics.
00:08:33
Speaker 1: I didn't think of it. Is there any way to get a private conversation in with your partner?
00:08:40
Speaker 2: I don't think so.
00:08:41
Speaker 1: They do at night, don't. They take their microphones off and they hang them to sleep at night.
00:08:45
Speaker 2: I believe I still hear them kissing, do we Yes?
00:08:50
Speaker 1: Unfortunately, I think that's the only way to whisper in somebody's ear and late at night. But to your point, Bro, it's highly unlikely they could have a long conversation to coordinate this plan to fool America. It's hard to believe.
00:09:05
Speaker 3: It's impossible for me to believe. And look, some people are saying, y'all are haters. This is exactly why hay, y'all lonely in these comments, Bro, y'all be miserable. Y'all was on the same shit with Nicolandria and they're still together.
00:09:18
Speaker 2: So but everyone's entitled to their opinions.
00:09:20
Speaker 1: I guess, okay, that was what I was trying to say earlier, and that's a different way. But yes, bro, but it's okay, you do if you if you're sitting there right now in a miserable relationship that you think you can't get out of, and you've been in, and to see someone else fullnd love and to be happy and to make different choices and to choose each other, that's the Yeah, it can sting.
00:09:44
Speaker 3: Just ask yourself if you ever said, y'all give them two months just because they're madly in love.
00:09:49
Speaker 1: That's mean and me and it's really not.
00:09:53
Speaker 2: And we've been given so many timelines.
00:09:55
Speaker 3: Oh how many people said, I'll give them six months or give them one year, This will be funny when they break. It's like to root for someone to break up because you don't believe their love is real, or you don't like how their love makes you feel.
00:10:09
Speaker 2: And that's really what this is. Isn't this all about projection?
00:10:12
Speaker 3: You don't like how their love makes you feel, whether it's because they're interracial, whether it's because you don't believe that can exist, whether you don't believe a man can actually cry and miss a girl on public television without being performative.
00:10:25
Speaker 1: I have to say his reactions, we've almost seen him. We've seen him spiral rope since he got to CASA Amore. He looked like he wanted to get out of Casa Amore. It just he was uncomfortable there. It wasn't hiss thing. He clearly wasn't immediately attracted to anybody in a major way. And Rood, do you remember they sent those postcards and those pictures from the other camp. Everybody was looking all around and gathered around. They was showing him kind of shy and kind of down, and Robes, this was he was impacted.
00:10:54
Speaker 3: He won me over in that moment because instead of getting mad and wanting to get even, which is that's what the typical response has been from most folks.
00:11:03
Speaker 1: And we saw that.
00:11:04
Speaker 2: He instead just said, wow, that really hurts. That's amazing.
00:11:10
Speaker 3: I don't know many men, no matter how old they are, whether they're twenty nine, nineteen or fifty nine, who are able and confident enough to react that way when they see their woman with another man.
00:11:22
Speaker 2: That's remarkable. That actually is love.
00:11:26
Speaker 1: But Robes, it's also human nature. And he just Robes he handled his emotions probably better than anybody in the show because he was just honest about them.
00:11:41
Speaker 2: And sat with it and it was so refreshing.
00:11:43
Speaker 1: And I'm not going to push back against it. I'm not going to try to explain it. I'm not going to try to retaliate. I'm not going to try to make myself feel like damn.
00:11:51
Speaker 3: This this sucks and Babe, that's why people think it's an act because people aren't used to seeing a man, especially react that way, and so it can't be real to being hurt, not to being hurt, to express that hurt in real ways instead of reacting, he actually expressed it instead of reacting to it and behaving badly, which is what we're.
00:12:13
Speaker 2: Used to seeing.
00:12:14
Speaker 3: So it's almost it's offensive to men that people don't believe Bryce because he actually is reacting in an emotionally mature.
00:12:22
Speaker 1: Way, but it's not the way that we're accustomed to men reacting, and therefore we're now questioning how he's reacting. You're not questioning Casey's reaction because he reacted.
00:12:34
Speaker 4: The way we would expect a lot of men to react. He's just as hurt as Bryce is. These two men are reacting and expressing that hurt in two different ways, and one of them is doing it terribly. Bryce is doing it correctly, but it's it's causing him to be.
00:12:51
Speaker 3: Getting backlash, get him backlash saying he must be gay. They're saying he must not really be that into her, because if he really were, there's no way he could.
00:12:59
Speaker 2: Just be sad and be a lost puppy dog.
00:13:02
Speaker 3: No, he's going to be a man. He's gonna get all angry, he's gonna get even. So it's interesting to know that I saw his reaction is so sweet and genuine and beautiful and pure, and it's interesting to see some people view it very differently.
00:13:15
Speaker 1: I just said it was authentic. That's an authentic reaction. He's hurt. And the thing is, Robes, everybody else felt their hurt. They just expressed it differently. I applaud and I appreciate. But he showed what vulnerability. Some others would say it was weakness, but.
00:13:31
Speaker 2: That is I think that's strength.
00:13:33
Speaker 1: Strength to sit and recognize what you're feeling.
00:13:36
Speaker 2: And that's hot by the way.
00:13:37
Speaker 1: I'm recognizing it.
00:13:39
Speaker 2: That's attractive.
00:13:40
Speaker 1: And then what does he decide to do do about it? Sprint to his woman? So that's okay. Yes, see that little noise, you male, that's where some of us sit, and some of us are optimistic and some of us are hopeful. Robes. It's I can understand if someone has had different relationship experiences to sit there and go no way, to be jaded, to say this is inauthentic, and then to explain it away and that helps you understand and feel better. Okay, that's why I don't have that because it doesn't exist. Yep, that's not real either. My experience is the reality. This is just some bs so that kind of thing, and that's you. You get it, Robes, and you got to leave some space for people feeling those things I just right now, and it could swing. That would be really hard if it did. But right now they're the darlings and one of the best at this moment. Robes one of the best stories I've seen on Love Island any of the seasons I've seen.
00:14:40
Speaker 2: I agree.
00:14:41
Speaker 3: And when we come back, we're going to talk about the other lesson we learned from watching Brinity, because it was the opposite of what we've seen from so many other couples on Love Island and in real life, the anti love bombers.
00:15:06
Speaker 2: Well, welcome back everyone here on Amy and TJ.
00:15:09
Speaker 3: We're talking about the love lessons we've learned from one of the most dramatic Love Island USA episodes ever last night. But yeah, we're talking about Brinity, Bryce and Trinity. We are obsessed with them, and for the record, most of America is. But wow, there is a loud group of folks online who are questioning the validity of it, even suggesting that these two colluded and planned this that they could win. And maybe if they don't throw shade at Trinity, they're definitely throwing it at Bryce, saying he is manipulating, he's performative.
00:15:44
Speaker 2: There's no way a man would be crying like that in.
00:15:47
Speaker 3: Costs More unless he's gay, or unless he is pretending to like black women. I mean really, it's like, I feel like so unwarranted. Some of the criticism that's being leveled without any sort of proof, just based on people's unwillingness to accept that he actually might really be into this girl and have fallen in love with her.
00:16:09
Speaker 1: Well, what is the criticism of Sincere and case.
00:16:13
Speaker 2: C Oh, they just think they're dogs?
00:16:14
Speaker 1: And Zach from cosa amore?
00:16:16
Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, but that's expected behavior.
00:16:20
Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, so this guy, isn't he doing the thing that everybody complained that k C and Sincere didn't do staying considerate. Yeah, he was missing.
00:16:32
Speaker 2: I thought it was so sweet.
00:16:33
Speaker 1: Isn't he doing the things that everybody said they wish k C had done and sincere had done, But now he's doing it, he's still being questioned.
00:16:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't win, right, But I thought this was interesting.
00:16:43
Speaker 3: Someone there's a lot of comments, and someone pointed this out, and this was there in the in the camp of Loving Brennandy.
00:16:49
Speaker 2: They said, I don't care basically what all y'all are saying. I love them two together.
00:16:55
Speaker 3: Bryce might be fancy, but I think they're slowly building their relationship that allowed them to like each other for real, instead of love bombing like everyone else did.
00:17:06
Speaker 2: I feel like that's why everyone else's.
00:17:07
Speaker 3: Relationship started falling or failing, because they came in too hot. And I actually think there's a really good point to that. It's interesting they did slowly build a friendship. Trinity even complained early on that she didn't know that he was that into her, that she felt like maybe he was friend zoning her.
00:17:24
Speaker 1: What qualifies as love bombing that you saw in this show, And actually, when you go back, this is something I never fully understood the definition of love bombing is what exactly.
00:17:33
Speaker 2: When you basically over.
00:17:37
Speaker 3: Compliment, over gush on somebody in order to get them to like you.
00:17:42
Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so who would you say, I mean, even if you can't remember specific examples or anything, would you say this happens? Why I have been on this show, this is what some of the guys, well.
00:17:51
Speaker 3: It does, I actually think, not just the guys, the girls. I think Kenzie love bombed a lot of folks. I think Corbyn loved bombed a lot of folks. The two of them are two peas in a pod. So they're sitting there and honestly, Sincere is maybe the poster child of love bombing, like he basically just puts all these compliments, loves up all these girls, tells them how great they are, how awesome they make him feel.
00:18:12
Speaker 2: But he's doing it to everybody to.
00:18:14
Speaker 3: See where he gets the most feedback from.
00:18:16
Speaker 2: He wants to get it returned.
00:18:18
Speaker 3: So you bomb someone with love so that they make you feel good too in return.
00:18:22
Speaker 1: Okay, and that's not what these two did at all.
00:18:25
Speaker 3: No, So the only purpose it's manipulative to love bomb somebody, you're manipulating them to fall in love with you. And that is the opposite of what happened between Bryce and Trinity.
00:18:34
Speaker 2: And I actually thought Bryce took his.
00:18:36
Speaker 3: Time and then it was only I feel like I didn't really fall in love with their couple and their maybe budding romance until they were apart. And to see Bryce genuinely begutted and missing her, yes, I thought that was so genuine because I felt like he was being genuine. He wasn't putting on, he wasn't being overly physical with her, and that was making me think maybe he wasn't that into her. And after you saw his emotional it seemed true emotional reaction to being away from.
00:19:07
Speaker 2: Her, it clicked for him.
00:19:09
Speaker 1: Okay, well he's got to stop dry humping Zack.
00:19:11
Speaker 3: That's a little weird, and that is why a lot of the comments have certainly bubbled up, as you might imagine, questioning his his heterosexuality.
00:19:21
Speaker 1: Okay, but I mean nothing wrong with that. It's a lot, but sweetheart, I have please correct me if I'm wrong here. I'm trying to remember. But I have seen him do more intimate things I swear with Zach than I see him do on a regular voluntary basis with Trinity.
00:19:42
Speaker 3: Yet they have a bromance going, a real full fledged bromance, and Zach participates just as much as Bryce.
00:19:50
Speaker 1: I'm sure somewhere there was somebody who could have said I was in a bromance of some kind or appeared to be with somebody else. Tight with you maybe, but it never included.
00:20:02
Speaker 3: You're not really into physical touch with another man. I do think that they're this, these these Zoomers, these young folks, they are like even think about some of Anna Lisa's friends like they the boys are way more touchy feely with each other than I have ever seen heterosexual men touchy.
00:20:21
Speaker 2: Feely with each other.
00:20:22
Speaker 1: Babe, these two are under the covers together on a regular basis. There was a weird image of Bryce was standing and Zach was sitting and he was gesturing with his head show him his junk, yes, and then they yet the episode yesterday literally like simulated sex on top of each other. So fun boys being I don't know, I don't know, fine, but that doesn't take away from how he could be feeling about correct.
00:20:52
Speaker 3: I think, look, he feels really comfortable with Zach. I don't know any of that, but I that aside, I understand why some people are saying some of that stuff that there is a reason for it. We have seen things that I have not used to seeing, but I did believe.
00:21:08
Speaker 2: I don't know.
00:21:10
Speaker 3: I do believe Bryce's emotions when he's talking about Trinity and Trinity talking about him are real.
00:21:16
Speaker 1: So he was sitting in this little confessional booth by himself. If you want to say he was performative or putting on good job, he is going to get calls when he leaves the eye on them because that's a good performance. And it just seemed Robes one of the things we say we liked about him from the beginning. He's just his authentic goofy self.
00:21:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
00:21:36
Speaker 1: And that comes across in that booth and talking about her. Robes his body language, he was slumped over kind of his Oh there's.
00:21:44
Speaker 3: Memes of him everywhere online of the love Sick Puppy.
00:21:48
Speaker 2: It's hilarious.
00:21:49
Speaker 3: Honestly, they have both of them, so they'll show him like looking all dejected and sad Withterei eyes and her doing the same.
00:21:56
Speaker 2: They have memes of these two everywhere. But I love it.
00:21:59
Speaker 3: I think it is adorable, I think it's genuine. I am absolutely one hundred percent all in for Brinity.
00:22:09
Speaker 1: Okay, last thing I wanted to ask her I had a note here, meant to ask it earlier. But the question about the slow burn, people don't necessarily believe it because at the beginning it wasn't hot and it wasn't lustful. What would your suggestion, your recommendation, your advice to women be in looking out for this particular thing, because there's a complaint you've heard on this show. Even he's not all hot and bothered off the top, he must not be attracted to me. He is not touching me, he's whor you hear that. And then on the other hand, I'm being friend zoned. What is preferable or just give some kind of counsel there. Look, but the lustful we just met thing versus taking it slow and we're seeing it pay off.
00:22:51
Speaker 3: I can just tell you that lustful almost never works if it's just immediately lust let it play out, have your fun, but don't get invested.
00:22:59
Speaker 2: I just I don't know. That's been my experience.
00:23:01
Speaker 3: And then I do think that you can have and there's a place in space for that in your life. But if you are looking for a lasting relationship, I personally believe having that friendship, that friendship foundation has proven to be everything. And when you have those tough moments, and you have those moments of distrust, and you have those moments of Holy hell, who is this person? If you can fall back on that friendship, it will carry you through the tough times.
00:23:27
Speaker 2: And yes, obviously you have.
00:23:28
Speaker 3: To be attracted to one another, but I do believe there can be one of the most amazing, passionate romantic relationships can be built on a foundation of friendship.
00:23:38
Speaker 1: We will see what happens to Brennandy. No, we're going to leave it there. I have other issues with the show from the last episode, but we're going to keep it positive here. I always appreciate Jell spending some time with us as we go through these Love Island love lessons. I am TJ. Holmes on behalf of my dear Amy Robot. What's help? Then the kitchen pass, the
Speaker 1: Hey, folks, it is Saturday, June twenty seventh, and we are watching a love story unfold right before our eyes.
