Love Island Love Lesson (EP 27): MAJOR Girl Code Violation, Amora Needs A Citation
Once again, the islanders are prompting non-stop conversations in our house, and after last night’s episode, a big topic was girl code. When Amora threw Jen under the bus, telling Gal that Jen was trash talking him in the dressing room, the girls on our couch were outraged about her major girl code violation. We can talk sh*t about each other to each other, but you do not go outside your gender, especially to sabotage a relationship for your own benefit. The question became, what is bro code and how is it different from girl code. We’ve all heard bros before hos, but what does that exactly mean? T.J. explains.

Speaker 1: Hey, that folks did it Saturday July for and last night I learned something very interesting girl code. I didn't recognize it when it happened on Love Island, but the girls on the couch with me as I was watching, damn near jumped through the TV screen and with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. A girl code violation? How high on the list was the one that Amora violated last night?
00:00:35
Speaker 2: Oh?
00:00:35
Speaker 3: She shattered, Really, she shattered girl code.
00:00:39
Speaker 2: Look she's already look and maybe she felt okay doing it because she was a bombshell coming in from Casa Amore and might not have felt any allegiance towards the Villa girls, and that could have played into it a little bit. But it was just I couldn't believe she went there. It was self serving and it was underhanded backstabbing.
00:01:04
Speaker 3: You name it.
00:01:04
Speaker 1: Let me let me state no, I'm saying, you stated, what is the particular girl code violation that we're talking about? What rule was violated?
00:01:13
Speaker 2: You do not throw another girl under the bus to a guy, especially when you benefit you.
00:01:23
Speaker 1: Oh, okay, you don't throw another Okay you said, especially when you benefit. Let's take that out of it. Even if she wasn't a it wasn't a romantic rival situation, this was still a violation.
00:01:35
Speaker 3: Still a violation.
00:01:35
Speaker 2: Look, girl code basically, let me try to sum it up as best I can.
00:01:40
Speaker 3: All Right, So.
00:01:43
Speaker 2: It's like, what did they say? And they guys have it too, They have all these crude walls. No no, no, well no, I'm saying, like they what is it? Bitches before they have like a whole rose rose before hose.
00:01:57
Speaker 3: And then there's all these these ways.
00:02:00
Speaker 2: Of splaying of saying it. So there's a guy code, there's a girl guy. I gotta come up with the phrase that girls use. Oh yeah, but so yes, Basically, you stick with each other before you throw anyone under the bus. And breaking girl code is a violation you cannot come back from for.
00:02:19
Speaker 3: The sake of a guy.
00:02:20
Speaker 2: Like that's friendship ending and that is just something you don't do.
00:02:24
Speaker 1: You don't talk.
00:02:25
Speaker 2: Shit about your girl to a guy, especially if you have your sights set on him.
00:02:30
Speaker 3: That is horrific. And also there's all this girl code about can you date a guy?
00:02:35
Speaker 2: And this is all having to be explored in love violent because everybody's swapping spit with one another. But you don't go after your girl's guy either. So that's Kenzy broke girl code plenty of times because she's kissing Jen was her best friend in the villa, and she goes and starts kissing the guy who she's coupled up with because she's exploring.
00:02:53
Speaker 3: But she broke girl code.
00:02:54
Speaker 2: And Jen called her on it and they were able, they were able to actually make amends on television. Who knows if it's actually real or not. But Amora went low. She went way low last night when she goes to Gal and tells him something that happens in that dressing room. Look what happens in the bathroom with a girl when they go and we all talk in the bathroom. What happens when you're having a girl's night out. You don't then go and tell a guy what happened on a girls' night or in the dressing room at the villa, or when girls go to the bathroom together and discuss who they like or what they want or what they feel or what they need.
00:03:31
Speaker 3: You don't go then share that with the guy.
00:03:33
Speaker 1: Okay, how high up are there anything? What else can you name? What else can you pick that is on this level of violation for girl code. I have heard about this, and what you're saying makes sense. I was I was taken. How immediately you and Sabine reacted to what Amora did. I asked everybody listened to us nuts, you're now watching the show and you're familiar with what we were talking about. I thought she was just playing the game. I thought she was trying to stay in the game. But even that you all said that, ain't that's not a good enough excuse.
00:04:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, she tries, she's trying to stay in the game, and you see where it got her kicked off the villa, which everybody was applauding for after they saw what she said to Gal. And obviously, if you're listening to this, we're assuming you saw the episode. But just to sum it up, basically, Gall had the choice to pick Jen or Amora, and Jen before she knew that the guys were gonna be able to pick and there was a recoupling was kind of trash talking Gall, but for real reasons.
00:04:37
Speaker 3: He was a jerk, he was.
00:04:39
Speaker 2: Manipulative, he was gaslighting her, and so yeah, she was annoyed by him and kind of over him. But obviously when the recoupling came up. She knew he had to pick her or she was gone. So then she tries to have a conversation with him about, you know, just where they could take the relationship because she's trying to stay on Love Island understandable. So then he goes to have amura to have a conversation with her because he knows and they both know they have to pick. He has to pick between them, and he's like, man, I don't know whether or not to take Jen for real? Is she just trying to stay on the villa? Or does she actually really have feelings for me? And then she's like, bro, I gotta be honest. She's trash talking you in the dressing room as much as she possibly can. And he's like, oh wow, and that is the reason why he picked a mora up.
00:05:24
Speaker 1: Okay, real question is that not though robes can can I be dismissed? Are you saying, even in the in the context of this competition, you won't forgive her for what she's doing.
00:05:37
Speaker 2: I just think women would look at her and say, wow, I would never want her to be around me because we know now what she's willing to do to either get with a guy or stay on top and she's willing to throw another girl under the bus. That's way worse. Just let gall pick who's gonna pick. And the fact that she told him something that happened privately in a dressing room, that is that is absolute broken girl code one on one.
00:06:02
Speaker 1: Okay, so guys, excuse me, at least I was watching this. Is there nothing to I guess taking this in a in a very practical manner. Can you not look at this in any way that she thought she was doing a service of any kind for him and being honest with him.
00:06:18
Speaker 3: He didn't deserve it?
00:06:19
Speaker 1: Is that The problem is she benefits by what she's doing, so it doesn't come off as all I think.
00:06:24
Speaker 3: She really liked Gold. Do you think she really wanted to be in a relationship?
00:06:27
Speaker 1: You wanted to stay on the island.
00:06:28
Speaker 3: Exactly, and so did Jen.
00:06:29
Speaker 2: But Jen didn't throw Amura under the bus to get him to pick her.
00:06:32
Speaker 1: She didn't have way to.
00:06:33
Speaker 3: She could have said, like, do you really think Amra likes you?
00:06:36
Speaker 2: She could have started like planting seeds of doubt that he had any shot of having any real relationship.
00:06:41
Speaker 1: That's manipulation versus violation or a girl code.
00:06:45
Speaker 3: Well, that would still be violation. It would be.
00:06:47
Speaker 1: Both because you're dalking your girl.
00:06:50
Speaker 2: You're still to get ahead, so it would be manipulation and violation.
00:06:54
Speaker 1: Wait, I thought, this is this is all girls do? What isn't this what girl do all the time? Aren't girls went behind other girls backs and talking ish.
00:07:04
Speaker 3: To other girls? Maybe, but to do it to a guy, that's the girl code break.
00:07:08
Speaker 2: Yes we've gossip, Yes, and that's not great either, And but you can get over that. You can get through that because you're talking to one another about each other. So because you're right, I shouldn't have said that, and all can be forgiven because girls gossip.
00:07:20
Speaker 3: That does happen within a girl group.
00:07:22
Speaker 2: Now you take it outside the girls and you take it to a guy who you are actually.
00:07:27
Speaker 3: Interested in, and they go tell something to a guy. Oh that's unforgiven.
00:07:32
Speaker 1: Okay, wait a second way, A second way. Second, you just I'm having a reality show moment, a real housewife type moment. We see it all the time on these shows. Women All they do is go behind he does backs, They backstab each other. Then they can hug it out and they talk trash about each other and they find some secrets out and they go tell another girl. We see this all the time. Absolutely, you're telling me that's fine.
00:07:56
Speaker 3: It's not fine, forgivable because we all do it.
00:08:00
Speaker 1: But I'm saying in this in the context that's accepted girl behavior that is not relationship or friendship ending on the same level of if you said that same information to guys, Now, it's a violation. Is that right? Yes?
00:08:18
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, you can work it out if you keep it in the girl circle.
00:08:23
Speaker 1: Okay, this is where I get. I got Okay, you're blowing my mind. But it makes sense now that you're saying I didn't understand how I'm like, I'm looking at behavior that I'm used to seeing all the time on reality TV.
00:08:34
Speaker 3: Don't take it to the other gender.
00:08:35
Speaker 1: Other gender. Ah wow, it took us nine minutes to have this breakthrough.
00:08:40
Speaker 3: You know what, Wait, this is funny.
00:08:42
Speaker 2: So I actually looked up what is the female equivalent of bros before host? There are so many funny ones that aren't really that well known, but people have tried to come up with it because truthfully, I guess that is more of the that's the phrase.
00:08:54
Speaker 3: We all know bros before hoss, right.
00:08:56
Speaker 2: But they have chicks before dis I that one okay before balls that penis shall never get between us.
00:09:03
Speaker 1: No, that's not that's let's end that one.
00:09:06
Speaker 3: Bros before bros before them.
00:09:09
Speaker 1: Obviously, it's not good.
00:09:10
Speaker 3: Holes before polls. That's kind of funny.
00:09:12
Speaker 1: That's both before tubes. That's so terrible.
00:09:15
Speaker 3: Besties over testes stop?
00:09:17
Speaker 1: Okay then misters no bros.
00:09:23
Speaker 2: Yeah damn it, y'all even got that phrase better than us Illinois.
00:09:27
Speaker 3: I guess chicks before dix is the best.
00:09:28
Speaker 1: But you can't use it in public, No, because it's no.
00:09:31
Speaker 2: It's offensive, But like bros before host should be offensive as well, it should be.
00:09:35
Speaker 1: It's awesome, but it rhymes for some reason, people think it's cute. But yes, that same concept. Guys.
00:09:41
Speaker 2: Well, can we get to the break because I actually have a question that I'm going to pose and we can tease it do men? Yes, you have bros before hose, but do you follow those rules?
00:09:51
Speaker 3: Is is bro code broken?
00:09:53
Speaker 2: What does it take for guys to feel like their code has broken so much that they can can no longer be friends?
00:10:10
Speaker 3: Welcome back everyone.
00:10:11
Speaker 2: We're having a very lively discussion, and I don't know how you're going to answer this because yes, as we said before the break Rose.
00:10:19
Speaker 3: Before Hose. We hear it all the time.
00:10:21
Speaker 2: And while we're talking about girl code, is there a guy code and what does it take to break it?
00:10:27
Speaker 1: The gut? No, there was nothing on this level because guys just don't talk this way. We don't gossip this way. We don't go behind people's we don't do that. We say stuff right to each other's face, we fight it out, we talk. It's just not on this level. We're not a gossipy type thing. Now, guys will hold on. You know. I think this was Chris Rock. I'll give him credit for this. But the way we go about it, a woman will see another guy see her woman with a guy. Let's see me a guy. I see a good friend of mine has a wonderful girlfriend, and I think, wow, I gotta get a girl like her. A woman sees her friend with a great guy and goes, I gotta get him. The different mindset is how we view romantic competition. Women will see another guy and they're after the same guy. The competition is for that guy. It's all about that guy. Men see their guy with another girl and don't feel like there's a competition. We're not after the same girl. It just it's a handoff, hands off situation.
00:11:37
Speaker 3: But what if have you ever seen?
00:11:39
Speaker 2: And I'm actually trying to go back to Love Island even because it is fascinating to see the guys handle competition for the same girl very differently than the girls handle competition for the same guy.
00:11:50
Speaker 1: You said once in one of the episodes where I was like, wow, these guys are like the best man win.
00:11:55
Speaker 3: Yes, Corbyn and Caleb exhibit a. They literally almost did they high five.
00:12:01
Speaker 2: And then when Caleb found himself in another threesome with Corbyn again with Parmida. So first it was Kenzie, then it was Parmida, and honestly Caleb lost both of those, but he actually laughed it off again. They're like here we are again and just laughed it off.
00:12:16
Speaker 1: Women would never do that.
00:12:17
Speaker 2: No, really, no, especially if you have the same women twice in a triangle competing for the same guy.
00:12:25
Speaker 3: I mean, look at what Soul and Melanie went through.
00:12:27
Speaker 2: Think about how those two handled it versus how Corbin and Caleb handled it. And Caleb was a bombshell that came in just like Soul was a bombshell. They came in at the same time, so It's not like there was a different period of time in which they had to get to know each other. Caleb and Soul came in at the exact same time. How Melanie and Soul handled it and how Corbin and Caleb handled it were night and day.
00:12:51
Speaker 3: But what is bro code?
00:12:53
Speaker 1: We see it as a loyalty to Broco can be a matter of Okay, wait a minute, we have a game to go to tonight and you want to go spend it with your girl doing something else. It's almost like you don't in any way, it's not even that deep. Sometimes you don't do anything and put this woman above the partnership and the friendship you have with your guys to where you're showing a little softness or weakness or preference to spending time with her than with your guys. You put in your bros before hose. That's one way to look at it. The other way to look at it is no woman is going to come between us. There is no way that some girl, that some woman in this group with my guys. No, even if it kind of comes up like you saw at Corbyn and Caleb. That's how we handle all right now, you said I do do you think like, we don't get hurt or offended. And maybe it's our mindset that man, there's so many women out here, knock yourself out.
00:13:52
Speaker 2: But if you're competing for the same girls, why don't you feel competition between the.
00:13:56
Speaker 1: Two of you. Because we don't compete. We generally, generally speaking, don't compete. Oh you got your eye on her.
00:14:04
Speaker 3: Cool, We may the best man win. No woman would say that to another woman made the best.
00:14:09
Speaker 1: One, And the only reason they said it is because they end up in this competition on this show. In real life, they would look at each other and go, you all right, dude, you were there first. Man, knock yourself out. We wouldn't be a competition. We just don't generally.
00:14:25
Speaker 2: No. But but I have seen, and you have seen in plenty in my personal life and just generally speaking, men getting into fist fights over a woman, like going to blows, physically attacking each other because they both like the same girl.
00:14:38
Speaker 3: Where'd you see this in my personal life?
00:14:40
Speaker 1: Okay, I've never seen that. Really, I don't know.
00:14:42
Speaker 3: Is that a white guy thing versus a black guy thing?
00:14:45
Speaker 1: But there is nothing. Now I've seen guys defend a woman. I've seen fights happen over right, just a disrespect to a woman or something like that. But there is never one woman standing here that two guys. Excuse me, I'm saying in general that we are not fighting over her. She can pick who she wants. Knock yourself out. There's one hundred other women in the club that I'm saying in general. I know there's different in different generations.
00:15:14
Speaker 3: Why is that so offensive to me?
00:15:16
Speaker 1: It's funny.
00:15:16
Speaker 2: I actually felt my chests that you would just be like, she's nothing special. There's plenty of other fish in the sea that actually feels offensive.
00:15:25
Speaker 1: Okay, but it's offensive robes. But I'm not fighting another guy over you. We have history. If there is a woman that I need to fight over, I am a grown ass man. I don't need to fight over her. She makes the decision. What are we talking about? This is adulthood, baby? What am I? I'm gonna whoop his ass. I won the fight. She still gets to pick who she wants. This is some barbarian old school meant male mentality that in some way we decide who she is going to be with. What the fuck are we talking about? Obviously not, she chooses if you have that mindset, Robes, there is no I don't need to fight anybody over you. Hey, robes, who you want to be with him? All right? That sucks. I don't need to fight him for you and decide her fate. You decide your fate. Now when I say this to you, doesn't that make sense?
00:16:22
Speaker 2: Yes? And you know I think about all girls, and you'll think about most girl fights.
00:16:26
Speaker 3: When they say cat fights, it's over a man. We will fight each other rather than the man.
00:16:31
Speaker 1: Okay, but what we're fighting interesting, What we're all fighting over really is our own ego and our own that we're just trying to win some it's just a pride, it's a but you're not winning the prize. It's not there for you to win. So maybe a guy thinks that in the mindset you got, isn't that crazy? He said, that's offensive to hear. Yeah, But then on our end, doesn't that make sense. I don't own you, I can't win you. I can win your heart. But that has nothing to do with fist fighting.
00:17:03
Speaker 3: When you explain it, it does make sense.
00:17:05
Speaker 2: Just it's so funny how we think versus how you.
00:17:09
Speaker 1: Are and why you can need a heterosexual group.
00:17:13
Speaker 2: That's another episode, But no girl code is real, and it's just been fun to understand it better and seeing it through your eyes and you seeing it through all of ours is just creating a deeper understanding of how different we are and respecting that and using that when we react to real life situations, we can maybe have a little bit more understanding, a little less reactivity if you have that.
00:17:39
Speaker 3: Oh okay, I see where he's coming from. And this show truly is it. I think it pulls back the curtains.
00:17:48
Speaker 1: This has been one of the more fun ones in terms of the dynamics and deeping and diving a little deep into relationships. This has been a very good love lesson episode.
00:17:57
Speaker 2: This last one was and there was hardly any makeout sessions, thank god, Thank.
00:18:03
Speaker 1: God, nobody wanted to make out after that one.
00:18:07
Speaker 2: All right, Well, certainly this has I mean, this series has just given so many I opening We've had so many good conversations on the Couch after the Couch and certainly on this podcast, and there will be more to come as we continue to watch these islanders look for love and see.
00:18:30
Speaker 3: If it's lasting love, right, That'll be the big question. We're always rooting for that and we always appreciate you listening to us. Everyone. I made me roboch alongside TJ. Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
Speaker 1: Hey, that folks did it Saturday July for and last night I learned something very interesting girl code.
