Love Island Finale: Sabine Offers Fresh Perspective

Love Island Finale: Sabine Offers Fresh Perspective

No surprise, but Trinity and Bryce are the Season 8 winners of 'Love Island.' The season finale didn't offer a lot of drama or mystery, but it did offer a satisfying conclusion to an eventful season of the hit Peacock show. Though, our guest host today took issue with a couple things, especially Aniya and Carl's fairytale book!

Speaker 1: Hey that folks. It is Monday, July thirteenth, and Love Island Season eight is in the books. We just saw one of the sweetest and predictable finales, maybe ever for this franchise. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ with a guest host today. Somebody is filling in for Roebock. Somebody maybe even a better expert in such things, better expert in Love Island that even I am or Robock. Please, my guest host, will you please introduce yourself to the audience.

00:00:41
Speaker 2: Hi, Sabine here?

00:00:46
Speaker 1: Yes, folks, thirteen year old Sabine Holmes, who has watched every single episode of Love Island with us on this whole journey, is here now being given me your first impression of the episode last night, I said it was sweet but predictable. What just give me your general impressions of the finale.

00:01:07
Speaker 2: I think I actually also agree with that. I think that it was the best possible outcome. I think that Training and Bryce, in my opinion, had the best chemistry among all the couples that were in the final four. And I thought the dates were all pretty cute. A bit long, but they're.

00:01:29
Speaker 1: Cute, Okay, let's go with that. The whole the whole episode was what an hour and twenty hour and thirty? No hour? Fifty? Oh damn okay, so damn here two hours is what it was. And yes, at this point there's no drama. Everybody's boomed up just having the beautiful nights. And it was kind of a swan song. Everybody say goodbye. It was a look back at the season. Blah blah blah blah blah. Is it fair?

00:01:49
Speaker 2: Though?

00:01:50
Speaker 1: The thing that got us talking most last night we had a group of what ten people? Maybe I don't know, not quite Okay, we had a group. We'll talk about the group in a second. What was the thing we were most worked up about? It might have been Karl and Andya's date. Is that not the thing all of us were going at it most about last night?

00:02:11
Speaker 2: Yeahstely, it was so I feel like, what boring that the group just collectively just started talking to each.

00:02:19
Speaker 1: Other like oh like wow, okay, Now I didn't think about it in that way, but yes, our group sitting around that was the one point where everybody got into their own conversations and wasn't paying attention. Were you paying attention?

00:02:35
Speaker 2: No?

00:02:35
Speaker 1: Why?

00:02:36
Speaker 2: Because I feel like everyone around us was also not paying attention. But also I feel like it was just it was just boring at a lot of points, and it just it was it went on long.

00:02:47
Speaker 1: How did you like the fairy Tale book? Somebody in the art department put some time into that, and we need to give them credit. It was well done. I thought it had good pictures, it was well animated and all that. But the idea, generally, what do you think?

00:02:59
Speaker 2: I think it was a cute idea. I just feel like, to me it was a bit cringey like but I'm good illustrations. But the rhyming and how long it went on just a lot.

00:03:14
Speaker 1: This was the part that surprised me last night, And the more I was talking with you all about it, I got nervous that Anaya and Karl were gonna win. Now, I say that nervous because I don't nobody thought they were the most compatible couple. We just loved her because of what else of everything she went through right during the season, and we liked him because it just seemed like a nice guy. But together, I got nervous that they were gonna win. Now, what would you have done? What would that have done? If Karl and Anya had won this thing.

00:03:46
Speaker 2: I mean, I like them individually, like I think they're very like I think they're very down earthed, like nice people. But I just feel like they weren't very like compatible and they were kind of like boring at some points, like they didn't really know what to talk about.

00:04:05
Speaker 1: Maybe it was editing, maybe they they left out the good conversations, maybe that they had. How much do you what was I missing about Carl? I'm not sure what to do with Carl. Carl is a really nice guy, but he came in at a time when people were in love with Anaya and we know she needed help and this was a nice guy. How much of it was compatibility or I mean, how much of this was just a lot of folks And how much was it for you being that you're like, Okay, he's a nice guy, she needs a nice guy. Let's make this work.

00:04:36
Speaker 2: I think I think that she does like him, and I think that she did need like a new like something new from.

00:04:45
Speaker 1: Like casey Oh that was very different.

00:04:49
Speaker 2: And I think they do go good together. I just don't know how much like they like each other.

00:04:59
Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like chemistry. There's no way to get around that, and I think a lot of people saw it. I was surprised. Ropes, there's everybody else's date, Melanie and Sincere had something interactive, right, massages, that's sexy, that's right, that's intimate. It is where were Kaid and Zach Where they go on a boat and they remember the boat in a mountain? I don't know, okay, typical, they're just there. I can't remember what they did. This is what that couple was. What what did they do? I honestly cannot remember what they did.

00:05:30
Speaker 2: I think they took a boat.

00:05:32
Speaker 1: I remember it because the kid said Kate and Zach on it and a guy it was red and the guy was doing the tricks. That's all I remember.

00:05:38
Speaker 2: And then I do they went on like a lunch or something. But it was in like this area with a bunch of mountains.

00:05:46
Speaker 1: Okay, I don't remember at all. So they ended up fourth. You can see why maybe, but their date Melanian, Sincere's date, and certainly Bryce and Trinity's date that there was there was intimacy and interaction. And I know some folks who are watching here with us made the comment that they had to give them a book. They had to give them something to go through together, because it would be a boring date otherwise. I don't know if I subscribed to that theory, but it was interesting Roes, I mean being Ropes. They gave them a book to go and it wasn't a short story.

00:06:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like a whole novel.

00:06:22
Speaker 1: They went through the whole thing Once upon a Time, and the first page had a picture of a Nyan Kinsey. When I saw that, I'm like, oh God, let's get settled in what's about to happen here now? There was no There was no drama right at all to the finale, but something you and I talked about ahead of time being he said, who is most likely in this group to say I love you tonight? We thought somebody would. Do you remember what your guest was and what my guest was. I don't think i'd guessed Bryce and Journey. I said, yeah, you.

00:06:55
Speaker 2: Said individuals like he was going to say it. I can't remember what you said.

00:07:00
Speaker 1: I might have said sincere it seems like something he would say like and not mean it. You know what I'm saying. He's just been saying stuff, Hey, I want to have kids with you, and you're gonna be my fiance and we're gonna get married. Really, but yes, that was the highlight? Was it of the season? Maybe Bryce and Trinity have been They have been a fairy tale story for real in a lot of ways because it's two people. I mean, God, I'm gonna try to stop calling you Robes. Actually, how often do I call you Robes in a day?

00:07:31
Speaker 2: Maybe like every time you talk?

00:07:36
Speaker 1: And she'll tell you I call her bean half at the time, because you all of the two people that I talk to most, and I usually have some kind of emotional reaction, so I just go bean ropes, and so both of y'll bring it out of me. So that's why it ends up happening Bryce on. These two were not compatible, didn't seem to like each other. Bryce wanted to to explore Cada. You remember that for a while, and now look at them, here they are. How did he look to you last night?

00:08:03
Speaker 2: He seemed so genuine at the at the date, like he was like it was very heartfelt and he really like you could tell he was also nervous, which was really.

00:08:14
Speaker 1: Cute, the nervous Hellen. He was nervous. It made you think something big was coming, didn't think he was going to Nobody's ever gonna propose on this show, I don't think. But the best we could hope for is ask somebody to be your girlfriend and then tell somebody you love him. Six weeks they've been out there? Is that is that fast? Is that about right? What did you? You're thirteen years old? What do you think about that part of this story? You're thirteen?

00:08:38
Speaker 2: I think that they are moving at a better pace than everyone else's, at least because I feel like everyone else like like after three days, like people are already getting together. Like I feel like even Casey and t t were like pretty fast because that was like a week later ish. But I feel like they're moving at a good pace, especially for Love Island.

00:09:04
Speaker 1: Is there any during the season and people might so go, what the hell you get? Thirteen year old girls? Watch? Plenty of thirteen year old kids are watching the show? But what's your draw? Why do you? Why is it you thirteen? You're not dating, You're not gonna be dating for a long, long, long long time, in fact, But what is the draw for a thirteen year old girl? I'm forty eight, I'm forty eight year old man. You're a thirteen year old girl and we have this show in common. What is it you love about this show?

00:09:34
Speaker 2: I like the drama, of course, I feel like, but I think it's also just entertaining when it comes to the relationship, like not only the connections and stuff, but also the relationships with like in terms of friendship. Like, I think that's also like cool to watch and I think, yeah, it's very entertaining. Challenges and the like.

00:10:01
Speaker 1: Do you take these? Do you look at these and find them to be serious? I say serious? Do you look at this and think this is how people behave and this is how relationships go? Or do you more so? Are you seeing this it's just entertainment. This isn't real life. I ask that as a dad, wondering if you all, if younger folks are getting the impression that this is how relationships go, this is how people behave, this is how it's okay to behave, This is how you talk to that idea? Do you is it more so? Yes, it's reality. But are these just characters to you? Or do you and a lot of your friends look at this stuff and take notes?

00:10:38
Speaker 2: If you will, I feel like that's why we love Brightest and Trinity so much because I feel like they're really like they're just real and like authentic, and I feel like everyone else is definitely not, Like that's not I don't see that and go, Okay, that's normal because I feel like it's also just like reality and they're put in like an environment that isn't normal. So I don't think, well, I don't see it as normal, but I see Bryson Turney as like real.

00:11:09
Speaker 1: If you had to swap out, let me ask you this way. If you had to swap out one couple that was in the final four, who would you take out and who would you put in?

00:11:18
Speaker 2: Mmm, I'd take out. Maybe I thought that was I don't love. I don't. I didn't. I started not really liking them after the whole like exclusive thing, and like I just I think they Yeah, I don't know.

00:11:41
Speaker 1: Okay, do you all do this at school? Do you all the steps? What's the process at seventh and eighth grade for dating? It starts with what do you remember they did the whole thing situationship, we're closed off, we're exclusive, now we're boyfriend girlfriend, da da da? What are the steps when you're in seven and eighth grade?

00:12:01
Speaker 2: I think it starts with okay, like you both like each other, okay, and then it's a talking.

00:12:06
Speaker 1: Stage, talking stage, which.

00:12:08
Speaker 2: Is like you're texting okay, and then I feel like after that then it's like just straight.

00:12:14
Speaker 1: To like boyfriend okay.

00:12:16
Speaker 2: Like there's no exclusive lea dating or anything like that.

00:12:20
Speaker 1: Wait, so when your boyfriend girlfriend in eighth grade, you can date other people?

00:12:24
Speaker 2: No, No, it just jumps from it jumps from talking stage to boyfriend girl friend.

00:12:29
Speaker 1: There's no like when you're seventh and eighth grade. There's no reason to have an exclusive conversation. Okay, that kind of makes sense. But stay here, folks. I have one other thing to ask the thirteen year old, and I'll give you my opinion as well. Out of all these couples that are leaving the island together, who do you think has the best shot of sticking together past the weekend? All right, folks, welcome back to this episode of Amy and TJ, which is I guess Sabine and TJ today. Yes, I'm a thirteen year old out of school, been hanging during the day, not doing a whole lot. I will in the interest of full disclosure, I don't nobody please panic or worry about anything at all. But Rose, we did have a bit of an emergency at the house this morning, and one of our family members is we're dealing with something at the hospital right now. Had a little bit of an accident. Everybody and everything is okay, let me just say that, but we had a bit of an issue, bit of a scare, and we had to divide and conquer with the kids kind of today. So Being and I are holding it down at the house Robot and she's certainly okay, but she's dealing with something on the other end. So please just want you all to know she's okay. Everybody's going to be okay, but that is why she's out right now. Also, we didn't break up. I should probably mention that as well. If we don't do an episode, if one of us here and the others not, people might think, hmm, must be trouble in paradise. No, no troubling a just not paradise to begin with. So I'm kidding, I'm kidding, but yes, my little one Being is here helping me through. We've been doing one of these episodes of course, Being after every after every episode of Love Island, so we certainly didn't want to skip on the finale, and I got someone here who is just as good of an expert as Robes is on Love Island. So here we are. Let me go through them, and I'm gonna include Corbin and Parmita in this. Is there one couple that you would say, being absolutely automatically you think has the best chance of surviving outside the villa?

00:14:49
Speaker 2: I would say Bryce and Trinity. Why because I feel like they I mean, they're already together, They're already they already have said I love you to each other, and I feel like when they talk about the outside world and talk about, oh, I'm like meeting your family and moving together, like I feel like they sound very serious about it, and I feel like they really see a future with each other.

00:15:14
Speaker 1: Okay, so they are taking uh to that point? He said I love you, They said I love you to each other. They're talking, Yes, they are. They sound like people who are making plans for a future. Yeah, alright, what do you think the chances are? Million?

00:15:25
Speaker 2: And sincere uh, I just feel like it's too toxic, Like I think there is a chance, but I think that there'd be there's gonna be some problem with like some other girl or him mine, Like there's a there's a lot of like trust issues there.

00:15:43
Speaker 1: Hm. So you think it'll be sincere's fault, probably yeah, No know why you would come to that conclusion. All right, Corbin and Parmida, what chance in hell do they have?

00:15:54
Speaker 2: I mean, they seem very compatible for each other.

00:16:00
Speaker 1: He's twenty two, I think, and she might be twenty five. He's a really young cat. And lot's going to be coming at him when he comes out. Yeah, A lot's going to be coming his way, all right.

00:16:09
Speaker 2: Casey and t T I think, yeah, I think they I think they had a lot of compatibility. Like I really liked their connection, and I like they're now dating too, and I think they're very like serious about each other.

00:16:23
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that says their girlfriend boyfriend? Now, yeah, okay, that's right. Uh, Dylan and Kinsey, I hate to even ask you about those two.

00:16:30
Speaker 2: I mean, I an Aftersun. I don't know, did you watch yeh? Did I feel like they were? I mean I think they're exclusive now really.

00:16:40
Speaker 1: Said, Oh did she only does splits for him? Is that what that means? He's the only one that gets the splits?

00:16:48
Speaker 2: But I mean I think they I think they can make it.

00:16:55
Speaker 1: Last one and I and Carl No, No.

00:16:59
Speaker 2: I don't think they are nice people. Yeah, they're nice people, but I don't think that they like each other. They like each other, they like each other, but I just don't see them as like a being like yeah, and like being committed to each other.

00:17:17
Speaker 1: I don't know I would I for some reason, it's either gonna they're either gonna get married or end up in court. Melanie is sincere like they are. Is there nothing to be said for these two having gone through and been battle tested in a major way. Anything to that.

00:17:33
Speaker 2: I think there is. I think it says something that they've like overcome their challenges. But I also think that there's always like Melanie is always gonna have like in the back of her mind, like she's always gonna not really trust him fully because of everything that's happened.

00:17:54
Speaker 1: I don't have faith in him overcoming and making her feel better about where she is, even if he doesn't mess up again. I don't think he hasn't shown I should say that he gets it enough to make her feel good about that relationship. Yeah, everything was fine and honky dory last night. When you put just two people out in the middle of nowhere, in this beautiful place. Nothing's around, nobody's around, it's just us. Let me give you a massage, babe. Yes, everything worked out, Everything was beautiful. I'm not give him one more chance kind of a guy, but I just she really likes him, he seems to like her. But he just doesn't know how to treat this girl. And is she patient enough to let him work it out? I wonder should she pro.

00:18:46
Speaker 2: I mean I think that he genuinely is sorry and sees like how he looks, and he like especially with his family, like all saying like, oh you're like you messed up. But I feel like there's all they might just like fall apart just because she just in the back of her mind, like, well, won't trust him. And then it might be good, like everything might be fine. He might not have even done anything, but still she just is not going to trust him.

00:19:16
Speaker 1: You know, it doesn't it doesn't help. She's out now, gonna be out. A lot's gonna be coming her way, and the majority of the population is not shy about saying Melanie, don't be with him. Like people are coming out strongly and not just giving advice, they are giving direction dump him. What was it? Who did it was no stub Hub and there was an airline stub Hub send her a note. We will give you ticket to anything you want to go to. Just leave that man. Wow, that's a little much. That's a little I think it was an airline will fly you anywhere you want to go if you leave that, man, that's a little much. That's a little much. Highlight of the season for you, last last thing. If it was a moment, it was an episode, If it was a ca character, what was the highlight of the season for you. Yeah, they were just so unexpected. Yeah, they were totally unexpected and it happened right before our eyes.

00:20:12
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:20:12
Speaker 1: Look, it was cute, it was fun. I struggled getting through the kissing games in the beginning, but at the end they saved the show for me if we didn't have Bryce in Trinity. So congrats to them, and thank you. You've been great. You've been with us the whole time. Yes, Bean has been every night, six nights a week for the past six weeks. We are on the couch from nine o'clock until whenever the episode is over. So this has been fun and it is communal. It's not just a matter of the show. When you have something that everybody is into, it's nice to be a part of a community. Yeah, Like, even though your friends though explain this, it's okay. Other people your age, do they watch this show?

00:20:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think girl, like almost every girl I know watches it. And I mean, I don't know about the boys.

00:21:06
Speaker 1: But but thirteen does it seem a little much for thirteen year olds?

00:21:09
Speaker 2: I mean, I think besides the kissing games, it's not that bad.

00:21:13
Speaker 1: Besides, but the kissing games can come with dry humping and simulated accents. No, not that much.

00:21:20
Speaker 2: I think it's fine, Like I think it will it's not fine, but it's just like, I don't think it's too like, I don't think it's awful.

00:21:28
Speaker 1: We think about parents that let their kids watch stuff like this.

00:21:31
Speaker 2: You don't me watch it?

00:21:32
Speaker 1: That was the question, Okay, being thank you, I think it was the second time you had to sit in for robes for something, so we do appreciate you being available and being a partner on this. My co host for the day, everybody, miss Beine Holmes, but miss Robot will be back sooner than later. Again, didn't want anybody to worry. Everybody's fine. Everything's gonna be fine. But we just had a little bit of an accident this morning and had to go take care of some stuff, so she will be back. We we appreciate you as always spending a little time with us on behalf of my dear Sabine Holmes. I'm TJ. Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
