Love Island (EP 30):“Why Does America Hate Me?” Islanders Spiral After America’s Vote
The villa was an emotional wreck after the bottom two couples tried to unpack how and why they ended up being voted least compatible. While Zach and Kenzie looked internally as to what they may have done to irk America, their partners started pointing the finger at others. Kayda was outraged that K.C. and Titi, and Carl and Aniya were in the top 4, given their history and the fact that she and Zach have been together since “day 3.” Dylan started questioning and questioning Kenzie, assuming her exploration in the villa was the cause of their low ranking. And then there was Melanie and Sincere. Melanie now feels like she has permission to love Sincere again after America’s vote, while Sincere took things to a whole new level of love bombing, telling Melanie he wants to marry her and have children with her one day. WTF Sincere.

Speaker 1: Hey, they're folks.
00:00:02
Speaker 2: It is Tuesday, July the seventh, and Love Island season eight, episode thirty is in the books. Hey, no, Love Island doesn't give a title to each episode. They just name it episode one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, whatever. This one's episode thirty. But if they had a title Robes, it could have been titled We're spiraling and with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. They are, they have they're all almost all of them are spiraling Robes.
00:00:30
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:00:30
Speaker 4: The other title could have been aka, why does America Hate Me?
00:00:35
Speaker 1: That's another one. Everybody wants to.
00:00:37
Speaker 3: Be liked, and they're very upset.
00:00:40
Speaker 4: Those who were in the bottom three were at least I guess there's two left who were in the bottom three, and they are one hundred percent spiraling.
00:00:49
Speaker 3: I'm trying to think of the four people spiraling. I actually like Kenzie the.
00:00:53
Speaker 1: Best Kensey spiral.
00:00:54
Speaker 3: She did.
00:00:55
Speaker 4: She she did say I feel like America hates me, but she's actually just owning it, saying trying to understand. I thought I was supposed to explore in here, and a lot of people online are saying, yeah, Kenzy actually is doing what the game is supposed to be, and for some reason it's frowned upon and everyone's coming on to her because she did and she was upfront about it, but she has explored and now she's just getting I mean, Dylan will get into this. But Dylan's spiraling massively and blaming their bottom three status solely on Kenzie. And then you have Kada Guess spiraling saying why does America hate me? But more importantly, why do they like case and TT over me and my guy?
00:01:38
Speaker 3: That's where she lost me.
00:01:40
Speaker 4: And then Zach is spiraling thinking that he's getting punished for what he did in Casa Amore or what he didn't do or say to kDa correctly. So yes, they're all literally losing their mind. Let's start with Kada and Zach, because.
00:02:01
Speaker 2: I swear I have not I don't think i've seen someone's stock fall this sharply on the show because she was way way up ropes.
00:02:10
Speaker 1: She lost some people and she doesn't realize she did.
00:02:13
Speaker 3: Oh the irony because as she's trying to figure out why she and Zach were in the bottom too, and frankly, you and I discussed it, we're pretty sure it's just because they didn't move the needle strongly in one way or the other.
00:02:27
Speaker 4: It's not because anyone doesn't like them. Some people think Zach's creepy. But now she's sitting there trying to figure it out, and went really negative and on the offense, like started throwing shade at Casey and Tit, saying, why did they get in the top four. They've been together for a hot second. We've been together since the beginning. So it was almost like the sense of entitlement that because she's been there the longest with Zach and they've only had a few arguments, how could America possibly be rejecting them? And so she was so upset about it. She started getting nasty about Casey and Tit. Yeah that's not okay, So now I don't like her.
00:03:06
Speaker 2: Well, it came off as pretty girl arrogant and she was throwing a fit. And we don't know this young lady. They're in this folk, so we're extending that grace to them. I get that, but I'm saying what it came across as because it.
00:03:20
Speaker 1: Was an entitlement.
00:03:22
Speaker 2: It wasn't just that, oh my god, I'm upset, like you're talking about Kinsey. She was upset, she lashed.
00:03:28
Speaker 3: Out, that's such a good way to put it.
00:03:31
Speaker 2: She projected and almost called us idiots as Americans and pointed out, this is what I hate, when you have to put somebody else down to make yourself look better.
00:03:42
Speaker 1: And she went after.
00:03:43
Speaker 2: Casey, who's got good chemistry and it's doing this thing and happy to be.
00:03:47
Speaker 4: There right and surprised that America seemingly has forgiven him.
00:03:51
Speaker 2: See, and I thought all along, look, Kita, I wasn't surprised by that last night, kind of been waiting on it.
00:04:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, And I was just disappointed by it because and I also just thought, Kata, Kata kid. Aren't we all always our own worst enemies. I mean, I'm not trying to single her out. We've all been there. And if we just recognized our reaction to something actually makes it so much worse than actually what just happened, Like we our egos are overthinking ends up being the thing that does us in. And that's exactly what we saw displayed by Kada last night, just trying to figure out why she isn't liked and then just started making herself wildly unlikable in the process.
00:04:34
Speaker 2: That is so true, poor thing, and she doesn't know now how she has been received and the conversation has been around her for the past several weeks, which has been wholly positive. Ropes, she doesn't know that she doesn't have that reassurance. This is the first time Robes here she is being judged, and.
00:04:53
Speaker 3: It was her worst moment, and it.
00:04:55
Speaker 1: Was do you like me or you don't like me?
00:04:58
Speaker 2: And she is used to being in the liked column, and America didn't like to the point of wanting to kick her off. And she doesn't know how far down in the bottom they could have been dead last, so Ropes to see her start like her wheels were spinning.
00:05:16
Speaker 4: Yes, and so Zach's kiels were spinning as well. But he was actually looking at himself and wondering what he did wrong and the what ifs and I should have And I appreciate that, But then I told.
00:05:32
Speaker 3: You I was a little suspect.
00:05:34
Speaker 4: Look, I do believe that Zach likes Kada and that Kata liked Zach one hundred percent, but I did think that he kind of it seemed a little calculated that he decided and he was talking with the boys about wanting to take their relationship to the next level, but he wanted to stop short of the boyfriend girlfriend thing. But it almost made me feel like, what are you doing? What is the point? I want to say we're closed off, but obviously all the couple are closed off at this point. It's the final week. No bombshells are coming in, so that's nothing. That doesn't mean anything. So then he's like, okay, Well he landed on telling Cada that he wants to leave the villa exclusively dating but not yet boyfriend girlfriend, and that was where he landed. But it almost felt like he was trying to prove to the audience as we vote on our favorite couples, that he is serious about her, but he still wasn't willing to actually ask her to be his girlfriend. I was like, that felt a little manipulative.
00:06:35
Speaker 2: I think this is incredible how people can watch things and see them two different ways. Even after you mentioned this, I was like, I never even thought about that.
00:06:42
Speaker 3: Really, what did you see That.
00:06:43
Speaker 1: Even crossed my mind?
00:06:45
Speaker 2: I saw them having these weird conversations that their time is winding down. They have now been able to or with a vote, they need to reflect on what the relationship really is and what people really do see and right, that was the first bit of outside information, right, that they got about their relations.
00:07:02
Speaker 4: And that's when he decides to try to like close them off and make them an actual couple.
00:07:07
Speaker 2: No, he is reflecting, So these conversations, I'm saying, it's about the right time to talk to you. But what are you gonna do when you get out of here? Well, I want to do this next and then I want to take this next step.
00:07:18
Speaker 1: Now.
00:07:18
Speaker 2: I thought it was weird you broke this down for me recently that the steps in the villa goes from you closed off, you go closed off, and then your boyfriend girlfriend.
00:07:27
Speaker 4: But he found one in between those two. But no, he's exclusively dating.
00:07:31
Speaker 1: But he made it.
00:07:32
Speaker 2: He made this point, which is true, saying at this point we're closed off means.
00:07:37
Speaker 3: Nothing, right, Yeah, because there's no one else coming in.
00:07:40
Speaker 2: Okay, so we can throw that out. Okay, that's not an option for him. So what's his next.
00:07:44
Speaker 3: Option short of saying you're my girlfriend?
00:07:47
Speaker 1: Yes?
00:07:48
Speaker 3: How can I ask you this?
00:07:50
Speaker 4: How is exclusively dating any different than saying you're my girlfriend?
00:07:56
Speaker 1: Um?
00:07:57
Speaker 2: Okay, I'm thinking no, no, no, I'm trying to think of that name. I'm thinking Goldie Han. All right, it's a matter of a label. Do you want to put a label on it or not? Now, it's a big deal to some people to announce to the world we are boy and girlfriend. That is more of a public thing. The exclusivity can happen between the two of you privately that nobody has to know.
00:08:22
Speaker 1: Does that make sense?
00:08:23
Speaker 4: No, because if nobody has to know, then that means that you're keeping your options open by not telling people you're exclusive.
00:08:29
Speaker 1: No, no, no no.
00:08:30
Speaker 2: But I don't have to introduce you to the family, introduce you to a group of people.
00:08:33
Speaker 1: There, it comes with a different way.
00:08:35
Speaker 3: Here's my friend Kada.
00:08:37
Speaker 2: Okay, everybody knows who the hell Kita.
00:08:39
Speaker 4: Is exclusive partner, but not my girlfriend or as I'm told, some women appreciate you introduce them by their name.
00:08:48
Speaker 1: You could just say this is Kada. A big deal.
00:08:52
Speaker 4: You moments where you have to get like and we've struggled like stru fiance is a lot of I always felt weird calling you my boyfriend.
00:09:02
Speaker 1: You didn't have to.
00:09:03
Speaker 4: This is TJ I answer to it anyway. This also made me laugh because we had a quick conversation about this. Kaita was elated and made it very clear that she too did not want to be boyfriend girlfriend and was very cool with this intermediate step. Yes, I call bs on that if he had said to her, I want you to be my girlfriend, she would.
00:09:23
Speaker 3: Have leapt up and squealed and said yes.
00:09:27
Speaker 2: She might have just said that's too much right now, Why don't we just for now say we exclusive and then when we get on the outside.
00:09:36
Speaker 4: Of course, I would say that sounds awesome, But deep down if he had said this is if he had said I want to have I want to be your boyfriend, I want you my girlfriend, she would have absolutely said yes and been elated.
00:09:50
Speaker 1: Never crossed my mind.
00:09:51
Speaker 4: Also, my favorite line, Zach, it's always been you.
00:09:57
Speaker 1: These two need to get away from each other.
00:10:00
Speaker 3: Well, so far, so good.
00:10:01
Speaker 4: They're not fighting, which would bring me to Dylan and Kenzie. Can we I know this is your least favorite topic, but look, I mentioned that. Kenzie also said I feel like America hates me, but she was taking it on the chin, and she was. She has been saying I'm sorry, She has been apologizing. She has offered the defense that yes, she was exploring, as she said she was exploring, and what was so wrong about exploring, but my god, Dylan, even Trinity was getting frustrated, going move the f on like she said, she's into you. She sincerely said she's into you. She's telling you that it's different with you.
00:10:38
Speaker 3: And he just won't accept it.
00:10:40
Speaker 4: And he came back twice with the same conversation, wiping tears from his eyes, saying, I just can't trust you. This is really hard for me. How can I believe you? It's exhausting.
00:10:54
Speaker 3: I felt for Kenzie.
00:10:55
Speaker 2: Actually, okay, So why do you think this is happening? Is this just okay? First, let me ask you. You've been looking online? What is the conversation around Dylan not good?
00:11:04
Speaker 4: And they felt from what I've been able to read what I've seen, I felt the same way.
00:11:11
Speaker 3: He's so upset that they're in the bottom.
00:11:13
Speaker 4: Too, right, And all he did was immediately blame Kenzie. America sees something that I don't. America sees that Kenzie is not to be trusted, and she's had four guys in a row and she's done the same thing to all of them.
00:11:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what you're supposed to do on Love Island. So he starts blaming her.
00:11:33
Speaker 4: He didn't even take into consideration for one second that maybe America doesn't like him, And I thought that was so narcissistic. I was like, dude, you've not even thought for one second that maybe.
00:11:45
Speaker 3: You're annoying, You're obnoxious.
00:11:47
Speaker 4: You're way too emotional, you're too clingy, maybe people don't like you.
00:11:51
Speaker 3: He never considered it.
00:11:53
Speaker 4: He's solely and completely blamed Kenzie for their status.
00:11:58
Speaker 2: Okay, so this is where I need help. Is what we're seeing? Are these just personality flaws or are we watching something that is malicious right, intentional and manipulative in what he's doing. He could just be a guy who doesn't know how to handle his feelings, who gets who just gets wrapped up in is behaving poorly or is he up to something Robes.
00:12:24
Speaker 3: Well, so I think it might be.
00:12:26
Speaker 4: I don't think he's deliberately malicious, but I think he is overly trying to protect his own ego and overly trying to protect his image on TV at the expense of the girl he claims to really like, and that makes me not like him.
00:12:43
Speaker 2: All right, Well, you know where I've stood since the moment they said this is Dylan. I have not because again I encourage you all to go back to that initial episode when he tried to fake cry and robes that when someone's doing that, they are trying to manipulate you. And I don't know what he was doing and why he was doing and he caught up in the moment. We don't know him, so I'm never ever trying to just put down we don't know him. A decent dude, I'm sure, But if you're trying, he's pressing against his eye in a ridiculous manner, acting as if he's wiping tears. If you're doing that, you are absolutely looking at me and lying to me and trying to manipulate me.
00:13:25
Speaker 1: And I didn't. I hadn't been riding with him from that moment.
00:13:29
Speaker 2: Well, in that moment and what he's doing to Kinsey, it's very hard to get me on kinsey side, and a lot of things on Love Island. I am firmly in her camp. It's ridicus the behavior. Now, she has every right to just look sternly and say I am sorry. But if that's where you are, there's nothing nowhere else. Ropes you can't he keeps, she keeps apologizing. She does this is I think I wrote this down as a love lesson. She keeps apologizing and he is not not just not accepting it, he keeps moving the goalpost, or keeps repeating what she did wrong, or repeating repeating like there is nothing she can say that he won't just keep repeating like he is trying to beat her up. Yes, and it's just and so that is in line with the tears for me, it's in line with the personality of absolutely beating folks that he is emotionally gaslighting all of us.
00:14:33
Speaker 4: Yes, and I think there was a point in which you cheered and I did too, when Kenzie said everything I say to you is not good enough. I'm telling you how I'm different with you. I don't know what more I can say to you, Dylan. I also can't build on this. I appreciated when she said this. I can't build on this. I can't work with that.
00:14:50
Speaker 3: If you are not believing what I'm saying to you, then this is not going to work. Good for you, kids, she landed her plane.
00:14:59
Speaker 1: Good for you kins.
00:15:00
Speaker 2: And again, we always said Rose didn't like some of the stuff she did and had feelings about it, but she is a star of the show.
00:15:06
Speaker 1: She just is she's been a big player.
00:15:08
Speaker 4: It's not mean spirited. She's just Kenzie. And honestly, she was playing, she was doing she was playing the game, and this is a game, this is a and she was looking for love. And I actually do believe that she likes him. But what he is doing, he is self sabotaging. He is sealing his fate. She is going to tire of this. She is going to be irritated by this. She already is, and she is going to resent him for this. And at a certain point, you can't make somebody believe you. If they don't believe you, you just have to let.
00:15:35
Speaker 3: That be what it is and move on.
00:15:37
Speaker 1: He's been exhausting for a while.
00:15:38
Speaker 3: He is exhausting.
00:15:39
Speaker 4: And Carl didn't help when he told Dylan his Chinese proverb it's easier to move a mountain than it is to change a person.
00:15:48
Speaker 3: That was the last thing Dylan needed to hear. Thanks Carl, Carl.
00:15:54
Speaker 2: It seemed this episode in particular, seems like it was amazing. And what lesson folks are so caught up in what other people think of them.
00:16:03
Speaker 4: Isn't that what we all battle with in terms of us and other people.
00:16:09
Speaker 3: It's what do you think of me? I want you to like me.
00:16:11
Speaker 1: That's it's happened to the point of sabotage.
00:16:14
Speaker 2: It's happened to the point they're sabotaging and want to alter their behavior, and it's gotten a little disturbing.
00:16:19
Speaker 1: I didn't like it.
00:16:20
Speaker 2: Maybe you can remind me that this happens in every season, but Robes they are questioning their relationship based on a vote.
00:16:27
Speaker 4: No, they do it a little bit. This is the most I've ever seen it. It's the most spiraling I've.
00:16:32
Speaker 2: Seen acting as if, well, if they don't think we're a favorite couple, then something then I must be seeing something wrong or something isn't right here, so I need to go re examining question. And it seems like Robes they're fighting to get into the top four, three, two or whatever and win this thing instead of the priority being love relationship.
00:16:52
Speaker 4: Look, I also think it's interesting to see when you are faced with that, and you're faced with that knowledge that somehow you were in the bottom three. There are people who look at themselves about what have I done and how can I do better? And then there are people who look at the other person and say, what have you done?
00:17:05
Speaker 3: What could you do better?
00:17:07
Speaker 4: And everyone else looked inside except for Dylan and Kaita. And the end, so Zach and Kenzie actually looked eternally. The other two started pointing the fingers.
00:17:16
Speaker 3: All right, when we.
00:17:16
Speaker 4: Come back, we're gonna talk about Melanie and Sincere, because boy did they have a conversation that threw us for a loop. And welcome back everyone to our Love Island edition. If Amy and TJ we're talking about episode thirty, we could also just call this Spiral Island. After the Islanders heard from America and what they think about their compatibility, you had Casey and TT going whoop whoop.
00:17:53
Speaker 3: And I actually was loving it.
00:17:55
Speaker 4: They were so excited and so surprised because they assumed America hated them, and it was kind of cool to see that actually they had some support. That moment, I think, actually I relate to them because we know what it feels like to suddenly feel like maybe the world's against you, or the people aren't rooting for you, or they are against your love or against your relationship, but you know what it is.
00:18:16
Speaker 3: And then suddenly that.
00:18:17
Speaker 4: Moment when you think, holy hell, people might actually support us, people might actually get us, and like us and see what we have and respect it. And I loved seeing that epiphany from them. I thought that was fun to watch. Brinnandy already knew that they were everybody's favorite.
00:18:35
Speaker 1: Just need to wait everybody else exactly. Oh yeah.
00:18:38
Speaker 4: Kata also threw shade at Carl and Anaya too, and she kept saying, I like an eye and I like Carl, but come on, like she dumped him and left him.
00:18:44
Speaker 3: Like she was really just she threw them up the bus two.
00:18:47
Speaker 4: I forgot about that. Now let's talk about Melanie and Sincere. Because Melanie, now basically because she was in the top four, was Sincere.
00:18:56
Speaker 3: I feel like she feels like she's been.
00:18:58
Speaker 4: Given permission by America love him again, to let him back in. She kissed him again, and then from that moment on, she has now completely and totally just given herself back over to him. And now Sincere is taking that and running with it. I couldn't believe what he said to her.
00:19:20
Speaker 1: Pip squeak five down. Come on, man, where did that come from? Where did that come from?
00:19:25
Speaker 4: He started talking about after the villa, which is what we're hearing a lot of couples talk about. But man, fine, this is what he how he gets himself into trouble. He over promises he loved bombs. You want to know what love bombing is. You always ask me what love bombing is.
00:19:40
Speaker 3: Exhibit A.
00:19:41
Speaker 4: Sincere is saying, yes, I want when we leave this villa, see I see myself being your boyfriend. I see us being boyfriend and girlfriend. Cool, dude, stop there, he doesn't good. In fact, I can see you. I want you to be my wife. I want you to have kids with you. He he went from when we leave the villa, I could see us being boyfriend and girlfriend too.
00:20:04
Speaker 3: I want to marry you. I want to have children with you. I want to grow old with you.
00:20:09
Speaker 4: And she just ate it up, the smile from ear to ear, and Yes, I wanted to look at that as a beautiful moment where Melanie finally got to hear everything she's been waiting.
00:20:19
Speaker 3: For, except for we all know there's no truth to it, and he's doing it exactly.
00:20:24
Speaker 1: He maybe he meant it.
00:20:27
Speaker 4: He wants the option for all of that to happen, and he thinks it could happen, and he thinks it might be nice if it did, but he can't actually with any real sense, of truth in the reality of the world, mean what he says. He can't have enough. He doesn't have enough experience with her to mean what he says.
00:20:44
Speaker 2: It might be in his heart. Maybe guy caught up in a moment. I want to err on the side of it being sincere.
00:20:52
Speaker 4: I don't, lol, that is love bombing, because it's too soon for him to be able to say that, and to tell her that gives her a false impression and a false expectation.
00:21:02
Speaker 3: And I don't think it was kind given everything. But can he just be caught and went through how many moments is he going to get caught up in? How many different women?
00:21:11
Speaker 1: But that was a big one, caught up in the moment. But broad we couldn't believe.
00:21:15
Speaker 2: I don't Maybe we did rewind we couldn't believe with her. We looked at each other. Did he just two weeks ago?
00:21:21
Speaker 4: He's telling Amura, if I just had a little more time with you, I would.
00:21:24
Speaker 3: Have picked you. Why you're always in the past, because it's a predictor of the future.
00:21:30
Speaker 4: Oftentimes, at least it can be and should be taken into consideration.
00:21:34
Speaker 2: I don't know what that was about, But to your we were just talking about how Dylan and Caita right, they're spiraling because of the vote and they're questioning their relationship.
00:21:45
Speaker 1: The exact opposite.
00:21:46
Speaker 4: For Melanie, it was a confirmation because she was put in the top they were put in the top four. So she's thinking, Okay, America must see something that I don't. America must believe in US. America must believe in Sincere, and if they are giving us their vote, then I should also let my guard back down and bring him back into my heart.
00:22:07
Speaker 1: Woof wish we could slat a note to her.
00:22:10
Speaker 4: I know I feel bad, no Sincere and can you imagine? Look, just this is just a little indication these folks spiraled that much about a vote. They don't know the context, They don't even know exactly where they were ranked.
00:22:25
Speaker 3: These poor people. I really this.
00:22:27
Speaker 4: Is not be me being patronizing at all. We know what it's like to have a bunch of shit said about you online that's either not true or unfair or just mean.
00:22:37
