Love Island (EP 29): Karaoke Night Ends With Shocking Elimination
It was all going so well. Perhaps the most entertaining, heart warming and fun episode culminated with a stunner of an ending. We thought we knew who was going home after America voted for their most compatible couple… but the karaoke challenge created an unexpected outcome. Once Kenzie and Dylan were voted king and queen, they were granted immunity, and escaped elimination. That left a difficult choice for the islanders who ultimately sent home the couple who was quickly becoming our absolute favorite…. Corbin and Parmida.

Speaker 1: Hey, there are folks. It is Monday, July sixth, and Love Island Season eight, episode twenty nine is now in the books, and it was one of the most joyous episodes we have ever seen, and we were absolutely loving until there was a shocking dumping from the island. But the most shocking part for us is just how much we were upset by it. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. I almost wanted to here's some boys to men. It's so hard to say goodbye playing in the background this. I can not believe how upset we were ultimately about his dude leaving.
00:00:42
Speaker 2: I even surprised myself. I had to admit it. I had tears in my eyes. They weren't rolling down my face like Dylan's were when he found out that Kenzie had kissed another man. It's too early to mention, sorry, but no, I genuinely had tears in my eyes because I had really started to fall in love with Corbin and Barmida. I'm not I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it on one hand, but on the other, you know what, they were just unabashedly themselves and they were ridiculously into one another and compatible as hell. I would go so far as to say I think they might be the most compatible couple in the entire villa. And they were kicked off for incompatibility.
00:01:27
Speaker 1: Okay, so they were So how this went down Robes is uh, well, yeah, the Islanders ultimately decided. But the question last night was for America that got to vote on which couple they thought was most compatible, and then after that the Islanders picked the couple based on who was in the bottom three.
00:01:47
Speaker 2: Wasn't well, it was the They picked on the bottom two because there was a bottom three. But Dylan for there, I have to admit, wonderful performance. It was karaoke. They were good. It was great, It was awful. They were the best. That was the correct king and queen of karaoke. We can get into karaoke later because that was certainly the highlight of this episode, but we have to just continue to talk about the shock and awe of how America voted. Were you surprised at who the top I guess what are their six couples? Seven couples? Now, okay, so the top four couples and the bottom three couples. Were you surprised by any of that.
00:02:28
Speaker 1: I think so, because the question is supposed to be compatibility, and I don't know, I don't know how you don't see, you know what, This is what we thought about a lot of these couples, and we thought the same thing. Sometimes we held it against the couple because we didn't like one of the people in the couple. And he might have fallen victim of some of that. I think he came in or Parmita came in so hot that a lot of people just weren't weren't feeling her.
00:02:54
Speaker 2: And I think initially Corbin was labeled a misogynist. So I look, he grew on me in the sense that he just spoke his mind and he wasn't mean spirited, and he wasn't calculating or manipulative in any way, shape or form. He just said what he.
00:03:08
Speaker 1: Thought and he was never like he just said Robes that even when he did dumb stuff, even when he does something that was wrong or hurtful, you never did think he did it because he was being malicious. Now, he never did think he was being mean in anything he was doing, even though he might have been doing harm at times. But Robes, he just spoke there wasn't there's something about I'm not looking for hidden meaning, I'm not looking for an ulterior motive. He just is what he is. And I cannot believe we ended up loving this guy over the past week. Maybe yes, we went from not liking to being kind of indifferent, to thinking he was kind of funny, to now thinking he was a very important player that I was sorry to see go well.
00:03:53
Speaker 2: I saw him completely become the best version of himself when he was with Permida, and I think it's so interesting again, we all always look at these shows as what they represent to us in real life and in our own relationships, and it's one of those things where, yes, obviously any therapist will tell you it's good to come into any relationship as a whole person who meets another whole person, and then together you're better. Sometimes people take away from you, sometimes people tear you down. Sometimes they're energy vampires. And you can see all the different iterations of folks when they're coupled up with different people. But when the dynamic works, when you see that other person shine and become the best version of themselves. To me, that's when it all sinks. And I saw that happen with Corbyn when he finally got linked up with Parmita.
00:04:37
Speaker 1: I don't know if it was. It was obvious he had a new looseness to him, a confidence, and it was completely different. And I don't if you want to judge the depth of the relationship the potential for long term all right, you can try to pick it apart. The one thing you cannot deny is those two worked.
00:04:59
Speaker 2: Yes, and we're incredibly compatible. They actually matched each other on every point. I feel like intellect, physical beauty, sense of humor, Like they giggle together. I think when you can see a couple giggling together, that to me is a sign of compatibility. And those two were constantly laughing, even at themselves, which I appreciated.
00:05:20
Speaker 1: And I didn't. Right, we already liked him and we liked them together. Even Parmita was growing on us. But Robes what stung even more their performance last night at karaoke.
00:05:31
Speaker 2: Was hilarious, but it was endearing. It was they came in last place, but that was part of why it was so endearing because guess what, they still gave it. They're all even though it put Corbyn's like, I can't sing and I cannot dance.
00:05:44
Speaker 1: What was the song?
00:05:46
Speaker 2: There? I have it in here. Their song was Dilemma by Nelly Nellie.
00:05:52
Speaker 1: Okay, yes I need you. But Robes, these two people who have been bragging about how hot they are, who are the Barbie and the Ken of the They were the goofiest silly and to see people be a little self deprecating or at least not be afraid to just go for it, well that was something sweet because she was terrible and going for it.
00:06:18
Speaker 2: Oh when she walked, I couldn't stand her. And for me to have now this massive like return, but I've done a one eighty now and I'm I'm here for her. I love her sassiness, I love her unvarnished truth in terms of whatever she thinks.
00:06:32
Speaker 1: Oh. No performance last night, Oh her performance terrible? Oh yes, but it was awesome. Her being terrible made it awesome.
00:06:39
Speaker 2: Correct, because they're so gorgeous, Like there were even jokes at the end about them being AI or at least about Corbin. Oh wow, the AI computer actually can cry. But yes they are tears in there physically perfect and so yes, to see them not be great and something was actually.
00:06:54
Speaker 1: Welcome, but they owned it. It was cute, it was fun, and that it made it even hard. I'm like, oh, and I'm really looking forward to see these two develop a little more. And there they are, and they're gone. So I didn't like the setup. I know it's supposed to be about the drama and the show we wants to create, but I'm over that at this point.
00:07:11
Speaker 2: Now.
00:07:11
Speaker 1: I am just wanting to see relationships form. I'm just wanting to see how they wrap up the last week and that's do some voting. All we got left are some dates. I don't want to see any more competitions. I don't want to see any more right conflict.
00:07:25
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, but this is now going to be a big deal about who is the most I guess I don't know what is it when we're voting for our favorite couple. Is it compatibility? Is it likability? Is it viability?
00:07:38
Speaker 1: Why aren't they using the word compatibility? Haven't they been putting it before them and putting it before us with that word most compatible.
00:07:45
Speaker 2: They have in this particular vote, Yes, but who do you like? Who's the most likely to succeed outside of the villa. All of those things come into play when you end up picking your favorite vote on I did vote on the app. I voted for Trinity and Bryce, but I told you in last episode I actually wished I had voted for Corbin and Parmita, and now I really do because actually, upon reflection, I do think they are the most compatible in terms of if you look at their their hotness for each other. I mean they are into each other physically, and I think they're into each other intellectually and socially. They're just like two little peas in a pod.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: And it worked.
00:08:21
Speaker 2: They're adorable.
00:08:23
Speaker 1: I know we didn't get to see a whole lot of it, but from what we saw, we were looking forward to seeing more. I don't know, but compatible ropes. If I had to vote, I'm not sure what I would have done. It might have been Ksey and tt. I haven't seen a lot of them, But maybe it wouldn't have been Zach and Kata. No, it wouldn't have been No Whoever, I a Carl.
00:08:43
Speaker 2: That was the one that I took issue with. So in terms of what America voted, they voted the most compatible couples were Carl And and Nyah, Trinity and Bryce, Sincere and Melanie and Casey and Tt. I actually agree with all of them except for any on Carl and I think Corbyn and Parmida should have and there and I am Carl. We individually like each of them, but together I do not believe that they are hot for each other or that they actually want to be in a relationship together. I think they're good buddies and they're forcing something romantic that does not exist.
00:09:14
Speaker 1: They look America wanted to do a Naya a solid and the the it was his name, the moderator, the narrator, Ian Ian. He certainly made Carl a star, right and to think of this guy, that's the nicest guy. Carl came in at a time where Anaya was at her worst. We were looking for any hero to come in and save her. Okay, you got what you.
00:09:37
Speaker 2: Got now, yes, and Carl is some comedic relief. You and I agree with the coupling of Ian the narrator to play off of him. It works, It does work now. I think the reason why we say last night's voting off was so shocking was because everyone, including me, what I mean, I was certain if you asked, I almost maybe would have been willing to put money on this wager that Kenzie and Dylan were going to leave last night that they were the least compatible and that one hundred percent, if it came down to a vote for the Islanders, it would have been them, And that would have been true had they not won the karaoke challenge.
00:10:12
Speaker 1: And that is just unfortunate. Is that what I see this is I don't I wish they'd have dangled that in front of them before, like, whoever wins this challenge is going to be safe safe right then? Will they really would have come up with some stuff.
00:10:27
Speaker 2: I do think that people would have absolutely and I will say all of the Islanders did give it their all. I was impressed with the fact that they did try, and that was what made it so fun.
00:10:36
Speaker 1: They would have tried harder, babe if they knew they were true, but day was on the line. I don't like that they found out after the fact that I don't like some of the games and the manipulation this year. I know it's for the drama. I'm not here for well.
00:10:49
Speaker 2: Last night though, in terms of drama, for the audience, we really were at the highest device. I was laughing, almost tears of joy. I felt so my heart was warmed. I'm so invested. These producers are brilliant in knowing how to get people rooting for folks and also flipping things on their head, Like you think you don't like Casey, you think you don't like T T. And then you watch them up there making adorable fools of themselves, giving they're all in karaoke, seeing their obvious chemistry together and saying, you know what, damn it, I was wrong, I was wrong. They're actually great together. And look at how wonderful they the two of them are together, and so they What did you make of How surprised? I thought that was an adorable moment? How surprised Casey and TT? But mostly Casey was at being in the top four of compatibility with America.
00:11:37
Speaker 1: He just thought everybody hated him, given what's been going on and what he's been feeling in the villa. He felt hated and villified, So why not assume that America was going to hold that against him as well? Andy, Look, that is one where America compatibility. They had to put all feelings aside. Don't even know he has made a bit of a turnaround, but obviously they're compatible. We have seen him be a different persons.
00:12:01
Speaker 2: He and corbun have changed the most when paired with the woman who is most just suitable to them. I think it's so interesting to see how people absolutely shift their energy shifts, their behavior shifts, their mindset shifts when they're with the right person. Ain't that true in life?
00:12:20
Speaker 1: But they brought I'm thinking about Casey and Nia and now they brought different things.
00:12:23
Speaker 2: They brought the worst down in each other, but.
00:12:25
Speaker 1: They both needed something that the other one couldn't provide. Tt is a different type of woman, with a different type of confidence who can put her arm around a guy like him who needs that reassurance and that confidence that he's not allowed to show any vulnerability because he's this young black man with not really the skills yet to deal with his emotions. She is from Inglewood. She is It's almost like she knows that man and knows what to do with that man. That's not a knock against the Naia. But she also needed reassurance.
00:13:00
Speaker 2: That she needed a Carl.
00:13:01
Speaker 1: She needed that thing that a guy who's also wounded was struggling to give her. It's so these are decent people, both of them. But he is getting something now, She is getting something now. The romantic part of each I don't know. I really don't know, but I'm with you on the night. From the moment, look, Carl seems like a nice guy. But that first episode, I'm like, all right, ladies, calm down, and that just some things I said, and you don't give it a bit swear I've been saying from the moment, Carl, this is not a knock against Carl. But I'm saying you all are going to calm down about Carl in a second, and sure enough the reasons why.
00:13:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, I was never going crazy of her car. H I don't know that that ever came out of my mom but I do think that it was what Anaya was asking for. It's what she needed maybe, but it doesn't seem to me it's what she wants.
00:13:51
Speaker 1: But it can grow into that thing true, that different type of compatibil I remember she mounted him on the couch.
00:13:57
Speaker 2: That felt forced telling everybody how sexy it was that. I just don't know that you need to say that if it actually just was. Yes, all right, when we come back, Melanie, and sincere, how did they get in the top four of compatibility? We'll talk about that and tonight, poor Zach. He is blaming himself for he and Kada being in the bottom two, but do we kind of agree? Well, welcome back everyone to our Love Island. Episode of Amy and TJ episode twenty nine. Oh my goodness, we only have seven more episodes. Make it in thirty six episodes is all we get here in the United States. The UK version is longer. I think they've got like forty seven forty something episodes, So we're getting short changed here.
00:14:52
Speaker 1: Bye, we can get more Kinsey and Dylan.
00:14:54
Speaker 2: Oh well, maybe they'll be next. One can only hope because that is what America wanted. Let's just be We know that's true, but we are partly to blame for the situation that incurred. Because how the hell did Melanie and Sincere get in the top four? I think they could have been in the bottom and then Corbyn. I would not have shed a tear if the two of them had left versus Corbyn and Parmita.
00:15:18
Speaker 1: Wait, Melanie Sincere.
00:15:19
Speaker 2: Yeah, why is it? Why does America? Why are we rooting for them when they clearly bring out the worst to each other.
00:15:26
Speaker 1: Because they've been through a lot and they keep finding each other. There's something about that we are trying to see through, Like we invested, so now we don't like, we don't want to cut our losses, we want to actually see this thing through. We should have all cut our losses, including Melanie, probably a while ago. But look, couples that go through all kinds of hells survive through the end. We're still here together. And that maybe there's something about that. Maybe a lot of people see themselves in the struggle of a relationship like that.
00:15:51
Speaker 2: And that's what a lot of folks are saying that there are a lot of Melanies out there who are watching Melanie and they want to support her because she wants to be with Sincere, and they want to believe that Sincere wants to be with Melanie. I think he wants to be with her. Can he be with her? Is he up for what it will take to be with her? I don't know that that's true.
00:16:09
Speaker 1: Classic stuff, ladies. He is showing you this. If any guy shows you this, yes, he wants to be with you. And that's the part that is pulling at her heart. Problem here you have to recognize if he only wants to be with you the way he wants to be with you, and that is what sincere keeps showing I think genuinely Yes wants to be with Melanie this way or that way, and I can still do this, and I can still only give this. He's not offering to be with her the way she requires, that she deserves and that she needs, but Robes The part that keeps her coming back is that he does. He wants to be with.
00:16:46
Speaker 2: Her, I know. And so maybe that is why America is rooting for them, because it's that classic rom com where there's things that are getting in their way, but can they overcome them? It is that classic false ending. But we want the fairy tale ending into We're hoping that if we keep them there on Love Island in the villa, then maybe they'll get that day one.
00:17:06
Speaker 1: Issue I'll take with it with the rom com situation, what did you just say? They said they overcome the obstacles all the time. He's the op. He is the problem. That is the problem. You wouldn't be rooting for a woman in a rom com because a dude did her wrong four times?
00:17:22
Speaker 2: True.
00:17:22
Speaker 1: Now he's running through the air for it has to be outside forces, right, that are affecting them.
00:17:27
Speaker 2: Oh no, but we're trying to apply it to them. I think in a way without even realizing we're doing and we.
00:17:32
Speaker 1: Gotta be careful ropes. I know people are supporting and rooting for them. What we're really doing is rooting for her.
00:17:38
Speaker 2: That's true, we are We're really for her to be happy. And that's the same with an Aya and Carl. It's not that I don't believe that anyone believes that they're actually going to be a romantic people outside of the villa and make it and get married. Maybe maybe maybe not everyone wants lightning bolts. Maybe not everybody wants that electricity because there ain't none between them.
00:18:00
Speaker 1: Can't overtime attraction over time.
00:18:03
Speaker 2: I see her face, though, and I see what she's trying to project, and I see it in her body language. She just pulls a little bit back from Karl when he leans in and he seems like he's forcing it and says the cheesiest things to her. I'm telling you, no, girl, girls want to be supported, they want to be loved, they want to be told they look hot. But the moment it comes off as cheesy, it just doesn't land.
00:18:24
Speaker 1: It's some people like that. She No, you say cheesy? Can some people just say it's sweet, like it's a sweetness. Oh, he's so sweet, not to be.
00:18:31
Speaker 2: Cheesy, but it's forced sweetness. It doesn't feel genuine. It doesn't feel like it's just coming from a from a genuine place. It feels like he's thought up of things he can say, and he has them in his head and he's doling them out like a candy dispenser with some people like that.
00:18:46
Speaker 1: Don't they want to hear it, aren't they?
00:18:48
Speaker 2: I do, but only if it comes from a real place, in an authentic moment.
00:18:51
Speaker 1: And I'm asking you about you. But generally speaking of other women, you think a general consensus would be that you don't like the sappy, over the top sweetness. Yes, you're saying, generally speaking, Carl wouldn't be what most women want.
00:19:08
Speaker 2: I think that on paper he would be. He would check every box, but in reality, kind, thoughtful, consider it all. If there's an over the top, like just cheesiness that I can't maybe I'm alone. I don't know, it's just visceral reaction. I mean, people more like to talk about who they can't stand. He actually is just not an issue. It's like, you know, honestly, people are there for the cheesiness. It's he's fun to watch. He is absolutely fun to watch. There's no question him practicing his dance moves in the mirror. I was laughing my ass off. I want to know what you think about Zach and Kaita because they were surprised. You're still laughing about Carl.
00:19:54
Speaker 1: Now thinking about the butterfly, like or the bug and then the hug and then the whole thing's like a card character.
00:20:01
Speaker 2: So what do you think about Zach and Caiden? They were so shocked.
00:20:05
Speaker 1: I can't believe how close I am to being over them.
00:20:07
Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people are. Why and he was? He projected, So when we got a tease for tonight's episode, he was trying to They were both trying to figure out why are we in the bottom? We were there from the beginning, We've we've never not been together. Why are people not thinking we're compatible? And Zach's like, I think it's me. I think it was me. I think it was my behavior in Cosamore. I don't know why people don't like Zax so much, but they don't. I just don't think people feel that passionately about them, so they just get kind of lost in the in the in the in the show, We're not I'm not rooting for them, I'm not rooting against them. I honestly just don't really care what happens.
00:20:44
Speaker 1: Is it. That's the worst place to be. You gotta be polarizing in some way. But we don't even care. If you tell me both of them got kicked off.
00:20:51
Speaker 2: I'd be like, okay, look, I'd be like, all right, that'll be a little sad. But they don't add a lot of flavor.
00:20:58
Speaker 1: Why is that we like them so much? They were the hot couple early they got to go into the highway and all this stuff, and they had there is she was crying.
00:21:08
Speaker 2: But somehow I'm just like, I don't know why. I can't explain it. But that must explain why they weren't voted for as the most compatible. But because people forgot to vote for them.
00:21:19
Speaker 1: You know what, they don't really have a cuteness, a sweetness, a passion.
00:21:24
Speaker 2: There's nothing hotness hearing about the met there's.
00:21:27
Speaker 1: Nothing magnetic that makes me react like a Bryce and a Trinity. But you go, oh something about even Corbyn and Parmita, you have something Melanie and Sincere like fight like cats and dogs or something's going on.
00:21:39
Speaker 2: Hey, and Kenzie and Dylan. You have a strong reaction to them too.
00:21:42
Speaker 1: Dylan, Dylan, if you wanted to keep Kenzy on as a character, I was like, Okay, she's great comic relief and she's a at this point, she's a starring character. Robes just from the moment him the fake crying stuff, it just it lost me.
00:21:57
Speaker 2: Yes, and that's fair, but he recovered he Elicits a strong reaction, and that is something in these types of situations you want so that people remember to vote for you. So, yes, I just think Kaita and like everyone else, has made me laugh, made me cry, made me angry, made me feel something. I don't feel anything strongly towards them.
00:22:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess that they have had the same kind of me mess.
00:22:23
Speaker 2: Storyline mess storyline.
00:22:24
Speaker 1: There hasn't been that. We never really thought they were going to break up, even though she gets a little annoyed, right, it was never exactly.
00:22:33
Speaker 2: So we've got six couples left, We've got seven episodes. We're not watching tonight, right, have we made that absolutely abundantly clear. We're gonna watch tomorrow morning. We'll still have an episode a recap. But we'll just because we're watching USA tonight, and I think that we'll just get up earlier or get up in the middle of like in the morning when most people are sleeping. We'll watch Love Island and then we'll have our thoughts. But tonight is really the only thing we got to he's for is that Zach is just spiraling about why he's responsible for them being in the bottom. And look, it's family Day one day this week. That's the day I'm looking forward to most. It's when you actually, this feels real now where you actually are introducing your partner, the person you're coupled up with, to your family. Yeah.
00:23:18
Speaker 1: I can't wait for Karl and an eye on this one. This is what I'm actually looking forward to.
00:23:23
Speaker 2: I love family Day.
00:23:24
Speaker 1: Good to meet you. Yeah, just met your son a day ago.
00:23:27
Speaker 2: Well, and the bond is just so real. Yeah.
00:23:31
Speaker 1: Everyone, Okay, look, everybody, please understand this is just a show. We do not personally have anything against any of these people. We're just participating and watching like everybody else. Dylan Carl. Sure, they're the nicest guys in the world, but they're characters in a TV show right now.
00:23:45
Speaker 2: Right, absolutely, and we can't wait to keep watching and rooting for them. Do we still think it's Trinity and Bryce's to lose?
00:23:56
Speaker 1: They will not. They would have to do something overwhelming. I agree for them to lose, they would just have to.
00:24:02
Speaker 2: Any chance Casey and TT end up in the final four.
00:24:05
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Ok, how we got six? Yeah?
00:24:07
Speaker 2: Oh? I would say for sure, that's that is such an unbelievable one eight For.
00:24:12
Speaker 1: That, I would take Carl and Anaya out of the final four, sure right now.
00:24:16
Speaker 2: And I'd take Kaida and Zach out too.
00:24:18
Speaker 1: And then what you're gonna do with Dylan and Kinsey?
00:24:20
Speaker 2: They're out? Obviously?
00:24:21
Speaker 1: What's so it's going to be four? Who's gonna make the cut?
00:24:24
Speaker 2: Melaniere would be the only other people who I think maybe America for all the reasons we just listed, could be could be.
00:24:30
Speaker 1: In the final Kada, Zach, case T, T and who we just say.
00:24:36
Speaker 2: Well, Trinity and Brice Brice.
00:24:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, those should be the four.
00:24:41
Speaker 2: Yeah I thought you just named six. No, four couples, oh, four couples the final I was saying the final two couples, the final four, folks, Yes, you basically just want Kenzie and Dylan out.
00:24:50
Speaker 1: On kens in, Dylan out and who was the other couple. We just said that should.
00:24:53
Speaker 2: Go any and Carl. Oh yeah, all right, let's see if that can happen tonight the next night time soon. I know, if we want.
00:25:01
Speaker 1: What's best for we want what's good for her. Do we want to give her what she wants?
00:25:04
Speaker 2: She says she wants, Carl, okay, and she says we love her enough.
00:25:09
Speaker 1: We will listen, that's what she wants. Okay, here you go.
00:25:14
Speaker 2: All right, well, we will certainly stay up to date on all the happenings in Fiji. We always appreciate you listening to us. Everyone. I made roboch alongside DJ Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
00:24:38
