Homan spoke with a voice of reason, acknowledging improvements in immigration enforcement will be made, allowing for a draw down in agents. Amy and T.J. also discuss the new video of Alex Pretti in the days leading up to his death, the substance thrown on Congresswoman Ilhan Omar this week and a big announcement from Senator Amy Kobuchar.

I say that Robes because we just listened to he's wrapping up. But Tom Holman, the new person in charge that the President has sent there, he has said some things now that makes you actually think. You know what I thought about? What was the guy they put on the ground after Hurricane Katrina, Honore. Yes, it makes it seem like there's chaos and we have an adult who's come to clean this mess up. I liked what I heard from this guy.

Speaker 2: Look, you have been asking for and questioning, where is the voice of reason? Where is the person who we can say he's in charge. He is going to unite us, He's gonna make this thing better. And we hadn't had that until now. We had folks fanning the flames, fueling the fire. The tensions weren't getting tamped down. But you know what hearing Tom Homan the borders are speak today. It was like a father figure, grandfather figure or whatever. But this person who are like you get it. You've been there, done that, you know how to lead and you know how to bring people together.

Speaker 1: Even his demeanor. Yeah, people have seen him. There is no emotion to this guy as he does his job. And maybe that's what's needed right now, because everybody who's stepped in front of a microphone has had some emotion in that voice.

Speaker 1: So the mess. We have several updates on the mess, including from Tom Homan will tell you exactly what he said, which includes a draw down plan. Yes, also out of Minneapolis. Another video and more arguing. There's another video of pretty maybe you have seen it, but this was from an interaction he had with Ice agents eleven days prior to his death. Also an update on the attack on ilhan Omar. We know what was in that syringe now that that person sprayed on her during her town hall apple cider vinegar. They say, also, we have an update on the agents who were involved in that shooting. And also a judge seems really pissed with Ice there in Minneapolis. We'll get to all that, but first I start with Holman ropes. That's a big deal. This man came out, stepped on stage. Didn't take him loong. He said there is a draw down plan in the works.

Speaker 2: That was huge, and I love that he said, I'm staying until the problem's gone. There was something reassuring about that, saying he wasn't here for photo ops and for headlines, but he was here for solutions. And part of that solution, yes, is that there is a draw down plan in minute Apolis, and it involves coordination and cooperation with the Attorney General, which he says he has and with the sheriff's departments who are running some of these jails. There's a big part of going after the targeted undocumented immigrants who are in prison or in jail right now, who have committed criminal acts.

They're getting cooperation now, and they have the right, according to the Attorney General they're in Minnesota to go into and yes, get those folks that are there who are legally have been arrested. He also said they have agreed that when the justice system at least releases them out to the public, you give ICE a heads up so we can pick them up if we believe those folks are going to be some kind of threat to the community as they go out ro This is cooperation, This is.

Speaker 2: He said, if if we know someone's being released and they are a criminal, going and sending in one officer to pick up one person in a jail, that's very efficient and without any issue. But if you release them into the community, now we have to send fifteen sixteen officers into that community, and we don't know if that person has weapons, if that person has people around him to defend him. He said, it's and that's unnerving to the community. So this makes things quicker, easier, and more importantly safer.

Speaker 1: And safer because you're dunt one Bacon argue, you don't have more criminals on the street. Two, you don't have more ICE agents on the street if they don't have to go to the neighborhood and just go to the jail robes. That is a huge matter. He said, we will be taking ice agents off the streets and putting them in jails. This is what we're trying to do. This was this was a moment today rose but a to the point, you're almost he's talking without urgency or emotion, to the point if you didn't know what he was talking about, you would think he's talking about nothing of.

Speaker 2: Import Yes, yes, that's how little emotion was there. I like how he phrased it that he called it common sense cooperation and he said more agents in the jail mean less agents in the streets, and that is what everyone wants in Minneapolis.

Speaker 1: No, he I will give him credit as well as being the best to toe the Donald Trump and the Trump administration line. He still acknowledged the Previo administration's problems with immigration. This president still has the same mission. Make no mistake. He's not changing or saying this is a failure or just operational change. This is no. He still towed the line ropes without sounding like Christinolan, without signing like Bavino, who just were blindly some accused of blindly just doing what the president want or what he said, or making sure you you don't admit that you did anything wrong. This guy had a different tone. He was able to toe that line to where, Okay, we understand he works for the president, he has a responsibility to his boss, but he didn't just blindly say what we're doing is right and everything we've done is right. This is a totally different tone. We should have heard this boys weeks ago.

Speaker 2: Yes, and to your point, one of his big headlines was and this I'm sure brings some level of comfort to folks who are concerned about how federal agents have operated in the field. When it comes to protesters, he said, if federal agents don't act with professionalism, they will be dealt with. So he's saying there is accountability for how federal officers, Border patrol officers conduct themselves on the streets of Minneapolis. But he also had a message to protesters. Please, you are allowed to protest, you are allowed to show your discontent with the situation, but you never ever have a right to impede what law enforcement is doing, assaulting, threatening law enforcement. He said there will be zero tolerance for that on the other side as well, which I think everybody can understand.

Speaker 1: He said very reasonable things. Both sides have a right to do what they're doing. Both sides can screw up at times. Wow, but he is there. He got on the ground on Monday. He said, you know, I think it was even cool. One of the first things he said. Yeah, you ain't seen me because I ain't come here for headlines. I didn't come here for photo ops. Like wow. He talked about meeting after meeting after meeting he's been having so Holman's on the ground. But he's on the ground. Robes at a time, where here we go again, we're fighting over another video of Alex Preddy. This is a different one. This one was taken eleven days before he was killed, Robes, and this one shows him in a much different light than we saw in the first one, and also a different light than he has been described since his death.

Speaker 2: Yes, and we I hope this goes without saying, but we'll say it just to be on record with it. Nothing justifies the killing of Preddy. Nothing that he did eleven days prior justifies him being shot in the street the way he was on that but the way he has been described and he can still be a peaceful, wonderful human being who saves lives as an icy U nurse for the Veterans Affairs Hospital. That can all be true, but at the same time it can also be true, and this video clearly shows that he was being aggressive and violent towards Border patrol officers who were leaving this scene. You see him in the video spitting at those officers who were in their vehicle. They did not react, they were actually taking off, But then he goes up and violently kicks their tail light, shattering the taillight cover. And that is when you see those agents get out of their vehicle and take him to the ground.

Speaker 1: We'll say, first, we don't know what happened prior. That's true, completely prior to what when this video was shot, but we see a significant chunk of time beforehand, and you see the interaction. For the most part, don't know what set him off, but these officers were walking away. They were eating from a guy who was spitting at them and yelling all kinds of profanities and aggressive ropes. He was angry. Okay, yes, fine. The vehicle was driving away from him when he went after it and kicked it twice. It was the second kick that did a significant amount of damage to a Vetereral government vehicle. You said at first, this doesn't justify anything, but it has to be taken in the full picture and in the context of what we're talking about. And sometimes what the ICE agents are up against doesn't justify pulling out your weapon and shooting somebody. But this was beyond peaceful protesting.

Speaker 2: Yes, And of note, do you see this scuffle and you see the officers take him to the ground. They eventually let him go and get back in their vehicle and take off. But you see Alex pretty get up and stand up, and from the just the scuffle that happened, his shirt was kind of pulled up, and you see that handgun that we have talked so much about tucked into the back of his waistband. It's very visible in this video, and so he had it with him at that point as well eleven days prior. I don't know if the officers didn't see it. I don't know if it even came into the question at all in that moment, but it was of note and interesting.

Speaker 1: It's interesting, and that has to be a lesson and we have to It doesn't matter how angry you get. You can get as angry as you want, yell and scream from the side of the road, he engaged Robes, and it's fair to say that a man with a gun on him attacked ice agents that based on this video is what you see soul Robes in that context, this was a much scarier scene to where if they had acted more violently there would have been more of a justification.

I was thinking about the difference between how we saw Alex pretty act and react in this video eleven days prior to what we saw in the video where he actually was shot and killed, where he very seemingly was videoing with his cell phone and then reacting and protecting. You could argue a woman who got pepper sprayed and thrown to the ground, this is a much different scenario. And look, this is exactly what we just heard from Homan saying you don't have a right as a protester to aggressively impede an officer's duty and certainly not destroy your damaged property and spitting at an officer in and of itself, that obviously is not okay.

Speaker 1: So yes, that is being debated about and talked about and used by both quot excuse me, I should say, really right now, one side to go see told you not a peaceful protester is what's coming. But stay with us here. Not the only developments out of Minneapolis. The other major one having to do with the major headline a couple of nights ago, when Ilhan Omar, Democratic congresswoman in the middle of a town hall making a speech and someone walked up and sprayed an unknown liquid on her. Immediately, the word staged started trending on social media. The President has chimed in on that, and we now know what that substance was, apple cider, vinegar. Stay here, we continue here on Amy and TJ on this Thursday, January twenty ninth, ropes. No one's ever going to be convinced that what happened to ilhan Omar was not a staged event. Is there ever? Is anyone ever? I mean, if you're on one side of the aisle, you're just going to say, no matter what she does, she gets hit by a bus, they'll say her family member was driving the bus.

Speaker 2: I mean, right, look if you and there are plenty of people who have very strong opinions about Congresswoman il Han Omar, and a lot of it has been fueled by President Trump's constant daily rhetoric about her daily. But I do believe when you start to look at the man who has been arrested and charged and is now facing potential federal charges, he does have a history of being pro Trump anti Omar, and people who know him have talked about this, people his ex wife, his neighbors. So I do think if you look into the story beyond the headlines or beyond what you're reading on x, you will see that this man verifiably has a history of being political and anti Omar.

Speaker 1: But still it continues. Folks continue to break down that video and slow it down. And she blinked at one point, and they consider that to be a signal. For the most part, I'm being a little extreme, but it was barely more than a blink, and they think that was the signal for him to get up. Anyway, the President timed in about her spraying herself. We knew that was probably come. I'm surprised he didn't say more.

Speaker 2: Yeah, he just said she probably had herself sprayed, knowing her. But then, look, Ilhan Omar did make a point, and this is a fair point to make. She said, every single time the President talks about her, says something negative about her, which I said, is seemingly daily. She says, the death threats against her skyrocket, and the fact that she has to have personal security, the fact that she's asking actually now the government to pay for said security, she said, this is simply and solely because of who is in the White House.

Speaker 1: I do believe Speaker Johnson did put in requests for additional security that for her, and it was and it has been granted. So keep an eye on that. Out of Minnesota. A couple of other things out of Minnesota. First of all, those two agents have been placed on administrative leave, the two agents involved in the shooting of alex pretty last weekend administrative leave. This is standard stuff, so shouldn't take it as they've been punished or demoted or anything. However, rolled it's people trying to make sense of why then why did Bavino say they were reassigned to other cities. But Bavino, the former commander in charge there, he's been reassigned as well.

Speaker 2: Yes, because that The reason why people were so upset about that is that is against standard operating procedure. If you ever hear of a police shooting, forget it being even ice agents, they are put on administrative ly pending an investigation.

So that has been clarified that, yes, those two agents, we don't know when they were put on administrative leave, but they are now officially on administrative leave. No.

Speaker 1: In the last note out of Minnesota is there could be a change. We know that Governor Waltz is not. He said he wasn't going to seek re election. He's tied up in the whole fraud scandal and whatnot, and he just got out. So that means somebody else is getting in. Already a dozen or so folks, I think mostly Republicans are running. But Amy klopachar a name that a lot of people have become familiar with. Over the past several years. She has really increased her profile. She now wants to be the governor of her great state of Minnesota. So she's in the race. Officially made the announcement. I believe it was delayed several days because of what's been happening on the ground. But she put out a video this morning says she's running.

Speaker 2: That's absolutely true. And look, she obviously has become or became a household name when she made a run for president as well. So we've seen her plenty of times on the national stage, and clearly there was an opportunity in her home state to take a meteor role. She's what is she a four time US senator? I believe four term US senator. And so she is now going to be running for governor, and by all accounts, because of her name and her stature and her status, is unlikely any other Democrat, like actual serious Democrat, is going to throw their name in the hat as well. So she looks like she will be the candidate, the Democratic candidate for governor of Minnesota.

So I do think if you look into the story beyond the headlines or beyond what you're reading on x, you will see that this man verifiably has a history of being political and anti Omar.

For the most part, I'm being a little extreme, but it was barely more than a blink, and they think that was the signal for him to get up. Anyway, the President timed in about her spraying herself. We knew that was probably come. I'm surprised he didn't say more.

Speaker 2: Yeah, he just said she probably had herself sprayed, knowing her. But then, look, Ilhan Omar did make a point, and this is a fair point to make. She said, every single time the President talks about her, says something negative about her, which I said, is seemingly daily. She says, the death threats against her skyrocket, and the fact that she has to have personal security, the fact that she's asking actually now the government to pay for said security, she said, this is simply and solely because of who is in the White House.

Speaker 1: I do believe Speaker Johnson did put in requests for additional security that for her, and it was and it has been granted. So keep an eye on that. Out of Minnesota. A couple of other things out of Minnesota. First of all, those two agents have been placed on administrative leave, the two agents involved in the shooting of alex pretty last weekend administrative leave. This is standard stuff, so shouldn't take it as they've been punished or demoted or anything. However, rolled it's people trying to make sense of why then why did Bavino say they were reassigned to other cities. But Bavino, the former commander in charge there, he's been reassigned as well.

Speaker 2: Yes, because that The reason why people were so upset about that is that is against standard operating procedure. If you ever hear of a police shooting, forget it being even ice agents, they are put on administrative ly pending an investigation.

Speaker 2: So to hear Bavino say initially that they were still on duty, just in different parts of Minneapolis, that created some outrage. So that has been clarified that, yes, those two agents, we don't know when they were put on administrative leave, but they are now officially on administrative leave. No.

Speaker 1: In the last note out of Minnesota is there could be a change. We know that Governor Waltz is not. He said he wasn't going to seek re election. He's tied up in the whole fraud scandal and whatnot, and he just got out. So that means somebody else is getting in. Already a dozen or so folks, I think mostly Republicans are running. But Amy klopachar a name that a lot of people have become familiar with. Over the past several years. She has really increased her profile. She now wants to be the governor of her great state of Minnesota. So she's in the race. Officially made the announcement. I believe it was delayed several days because of what's been happening on the ground. But she put out a video this morning says she's running.

Speaker 2: That's absolutely true. And look, she obviously has become or became a household name when she made a run for president as well. So we've seen her plenty of times on the national stage, and clearly there was an opportunity in her home state to take a meteor role. She's what is she a four time US senator? I believe four term US senator. And so she is now going to be running for governor, and by all accounts, because of her name and her stature and her status, is unlikely any other Democrat, like actual serious Democrat, is going to throw their name in the hat as well. So she looks like she will be the candidate, the Democratic candidate for governor of Minnesota.
