With that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. Robes. A lot of developing news out of Minneapolis helped me here. Was there any of it that was positive that came out that made us feel like the temperature was coming down?

We're hearing a narrative from his family and his friends and his coworkers, and then we're hearing from the Department of Homeland Security using very incendiary language.

First of all, yes, there are more videos, more angles that have come out, but the interpretation of that video continues to be split for the most part. Along you could argue party lines between the administration and between some of the Minnesota leaders, but your eyes are not lying to your folks, So we'll get into the back and forth. That's a big headline today. There is a judge's order that is now playing a role in what's happening in Minneapolis. Also, we are getting more details about the man who has killed Alex. Pretty also in the mix today, the possibility of a government shut down being in the mix now because of yes, what we're seeing in Minneapolis. Also as we speak, as we are coming on right now as of this recording, there's a pretty significant gathering a protest forming in Minneapolis right now. I guess we should start. We're starting to get more details about Alex Pretdi, the thirty seven year old, and hearing from his family as well, but just getting more details about him in his life.

Speaker 2: We know that he was a thirty seven year old ICU nurse. He was born in Illinois, but he was raised in Green Bay. He's a University of Minnesota graduate, and he had no criminal record. We mentioned this before we knew that he did have a license to carry. His family did confirm that he did own a gun. But yeah, we're hearing his father talk about how much he cared about people deeply he cared about what was happening in Minneapolis, and he wanted to do his part by protesting. But he and I feel this from his parents' perspective. They said that politicians were telling sickening lies about their son, and they begged members of the media to please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. That's heartbreaking to hear.

Speaker 1: And yes, the world is very similar to George Fla, who died a mile away from where this man has dying, where the whole world watched someone be executed, and we're trying to understand why and trying to understand that moment. So as we're learning more and more about Alex Pretty, we are hearing the Department of Homeland Security characterize Alex Pretty as a domestic terrorist, as someone who was there to do harm to officers. Speaker 1: So Christynome continued as well, again, the head of the Border patrol was his name again, Rose the guy you've seen. You've seen his face a lot out there, folks, but he's been kind of the spokesperson on the ground. But Christy Nome continued as well. She continues, we've heard her from her several times since then, several times since a bunch of video came out, but she actually said, this looks like and took this one got me here. This looks like a situation where an individual arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and kill law enforcement. She went on to say that Governor Walls and Mayor Fry need to take a long, hard look in the mirror, and they need to evaluate their rhetoric, their conversations, their encouragement of such violence against our citizens and against our law and officers. They also went as far as Robes I think it was officially from Homeland Security. They talked about it, but they posted a video of what they say as a protester bid off the finger of one of the agents. They're trying to show how the protesters have been violent and what the ICE agents and Border patrol agents have been dealing with.

Speaker 2: They're sticking to this story, yes, and they are using words like massacre, domestic as you mentioned, domestic terrorists just wanting to inflict maximum damage. I know any of you listening, I'm sure you've seen the original video, the other angles that have come out, and now there are even more angles today, and it's hard to reconcile what the official statements are from Department of Homeland Security, from this Gregory Bavino guy whose Border Patrol operations head for the Trump administration, Christy Nome, even President Trump. And then you take those narratives and then you watch the videos.

And some will flat out say, of course they're lying. Of course this is intentional. Of course they're trying to weave a narrative. Okay, fine, What all I'm saying is I'm not talking about their intentions. What they're saying is wrong. To say that this man approached with a gun in any type of threatening manner is wrong. We have all seen it. He approached with his camera, period, point blank. They have seen that. So to say something otherwise, I don't know why they're saying it. So it's not about motivation. But everybody listening, Americans, it's okay to believe your eyes and to say these people are lying to me. It's okay.

Look, even the New York Times had this, the videos analyzed, and they flat out say that an agent had already removed Alex Pretdi's gun when the two other agents opened fire. They said they shot him in the back. At least ten shots were fired. And so that is damn it, And that flies in the face of what our federal government is wanting us to believe.

Speaker 1: Look, I've seen that video they're talking about, and you do see one agent clearly walk away from the scrum caring what appears to be that weapon that we talked about. There is no point that I see and I didn't dig in and get the experts to tell me and show and zoom in. There's no point you see him brandishit weapon. You just do not. There's even one point rogue where you don't even see him have the phone in his hand and both of his arms are.

It's okay to believe your own eyes, and we're being told to believe something else. That's just it's not okay. And I don't know how what we do now, Rose, because cash Bettel has done this at least twice now in very high profile cases. Sending out information is wrong, and now you have the Homeland Security on more than one occasion now giving information that my eyes, I'm not challenging in their narrative with my own. I am looking at something and you're telling me it's something else, and it's okay, I know better.

It's almost like he's following the narrative versus everybody's following his narrative. Because he picked up right where Christine Home and Border Patrol left off about what this story is.

Where are the local police? Why weren't they allowed to protect ICE officers? The mayor and the governor called them off. It is stated that many of these police were not allowed to do their job, that ICE had to protect themselves, not an easy thing to do. Why does ilhan Omar have thirty four million dollars in her account? And where are the tens of billions of dollars that have been stolen from the once great state of Minnesota. We are there because of massive monetary fraud, with billions of dollars missing and illegal criminals that were allowed to infiltrate the state through the Democrats open border policy. We want the money back, We want it back now. Those fraudsters who stole the money are going to jail. Where they belong. This is no different than a really big bank robbery. Much of what you're witnessing is a cover up for this theft and fraud. I mean, this just goes on and on and on. He then says the mayor and the governor are inciting insurrection with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric.

I guess the folks that we need or in those positions that will listen to are right now have different interests and they're they're angry as well. But there's been a lot of back and forth between Waltz and Trump and Fry and Trump and Christinauman and everybody. I haven't where's the voice that's kind of calming things, that's reasonable right now, that is breaking through. I just don't hear it because the picture is the news. Jesus Christ. Yes, we've been a part of this industry, but they love showing, and that's not the majority of how folks are behaving in Minneapolis, but that's you really do think there is an insurrection going on. So I'm trying to think right now, is any voice coming through? And I haven't necessarily heard one yet in this case. But Trump wasn't done talking that long tweet. That's not the only message he put out on social media having to do with Minnesota. And we'll tell you what the other one was, and also we'll let you know why we need to be concerned about another government shut down. Stay here, all right, folks, We continue here late late afternoon, this early evening. I'm not sure yet, but right now we are coming on because there have been several updates, significant updates out of Minneapolis, and as we speak right now, I saw a few pictures ropes. It looks like it was growing, but it looked like it was still decent order. The live picture I saw out of Minneapolis as we are speaking now near the Federal building, I think downtown is where the protests have been happening, and they're gathering. Looks like another significant one as of this recording, is gathering there.

Speaker 2: They said that there were potentially as many as a thousand people. And again, we know what the weather's like here in New York City. It is bitter, it is cold, it is tough. But they said there were at least a thousand people who have come to protest the killing now of Alex pretty in addition to obviously this is now the third killing that has happened in what has it been a little over three weeks since ice agents descended upon Minneapolis Saint Paul, Maybe a little over three weeks, But to have three deaths in three weeks is.

Speaker 2: I mean, we were talking about how bad it could get, how tough it might be, but to have almost obviously slightly different versions, but the same incident repeated and then caught on camera.

How do you have that conversation, the conversation you would have with your child going out to protest, who has a license to carry? What would you tell your child? You tell them levy gun at home, don't go out there messing around with ice agents. Don't provoke, That's what you would tell them. And so the idea you would never and you should never say out loud got himself killed. Obviously you shouldn't say that this man should not be dead. This is a very very difficult case. Herobes of we have how many videos, five plus and different angles. We have seen them, we have slowed them down, we have analyzed them, and everybody still disagrees about what they're seeing. So how the hell were six agents supposed to make the right call in a split second. That's just difficult on all sides, and it might be good people on all sides, but there is a scenario there was something they had no control over that brought them all to that place together, and maybe that's where we need to back up and get that worked out.

Chuck Schumer is already saying he's got a plan because remember all of that hubbub this fall about the government shutting down and then how long the longest shutdown in history.

Speaker 2: They said that there were potentially as many as a thousand people. And again, we know what the weather's like here in New York City. It is bitter, it is cold, it is tough. But they said there were at least a thousand people who have come to protest the killing now of Alex pretty in addition to obviously this is now the third killing that has happened in what has it been a little over three weeks since ice agents descended upon Minneapolis Saint Paul, Maybe a little over three weeks, But to have three deaths in three weeks is.

Speaker 2: I mean, we were talking about how bad it could get, how tough it might be, but to have almost obviously slightly different versions, but the same incident repeated and then caught on camera.

Speaker 1: It's gonna happen again. This is this is gonna happen again. I don't know, well, no, obviously, nobody knows what the right thing to do. How do you have that conversation, the conversation you would have with your child going out to protest, who has a license to carry? What would you tell your child? You tell them levy gun at home, don't go out there messing around with ice agents. Don't provoke, That's what you would tell them. And so the idea you would never and you should never say out loud got himself killed. Obviously you shouldn't say that this man should not be dead. This is a very very difficult case. Herobes of we have how many videos, five plus and different angles. We have seen them, we have slowed them down, we have analyzed them, and everybody still disagrees about what they're seeing. So how the hell were six agents supposed to make the right call in a split second. That's just difficult on all sides, and it might be good people on all sides, but there is a scenario there was something they had no control over that brought them all to that place together, and maybe that's where we need to back up and get that worked out.

Speaker 2: It's it's because it's it feels so defeating to see what's happened and how we've gotten even worse than we were. Like, things haven't gotten better, they've gotten worse. People have gotten angrier, they've become more divided, they feel more justified in their actions on both sides. So I don't know how this ends. It's just it's awful, and look, now it's potentially going to lead to this government shutdown. Chuck Schumer is already saying he's got a plan because remember all of that hubbub this fall about the government shutting down and then how long the longest shutdown in history.

Speaker 2: To fly, We had all I mean this, everyone was affected, some worse than others. But yeah, we're looking at that again. January thirtieth, five days from now. In five days, we have another potential government shutdown.

Speaker 1: So a deal hasn't necessarily been struck, but we didn't think we were going to have a shutdown necessarily, but now the chances of that has have gone up because Chuck Schumer is saying that Democrats will not give the votes for any Department of Homeland Security funding and they are willing to shut the government down over it.

Speaker 1: That they believe they have people on their sides, based on what folks have been seeing in Minnesota.

Speaker 2: Correct, there has been enough anger and enough outrage and enough you know, what can we do? This feeling of powerlessness? This is a moment where if Democrats can get the support that they need, they can actually find a way to push back. However, it will once again be federal workers and their families who pay the price.

Speaker 1: They do have things now. They made some things shut down proof since the last one, So there are some essential workers who I think military, I think in my air traffic control lists. They made some exceptions here to where we won't have at least certain critical folks out. But yeah, we're looking at another government shut down in a few days, folks. We're going to try to find something a little more upbeat to put on the feed the night. No, I just hate brogue. We I don't know. It's look, it's relevant, it's happening. We need to and we have to talk about it. But it was another rough day today in Minneapolis for a lot of reasons. So we always appreciate you spending some time with us.
