Growing Questions Surrounding Trump’s Assassination Attempt: Was There A Coverup?
Several former MAGA enthusiasts are now raising questions surrounding the investigation into President Trump’s assassination attempt in Butler, PA. Marjorie Taylor Greene reposted a Texas delegate’s tweet that suggests the attempt that took the life of firefighter Corey Comperatore in the crowd that day, was a hoax. Several other prominent conservatives have raised similar questions and, along with Corey’s wife, are asking why we don’t have more information on the shooter and his motives. They’re also questioning the actions of secret service agents that not only allowed for the shooting to take place, but also for the iconic photo op to happen immediately afterwards.

Speaker 1: Hey, folks, is Tuesday, April twenty first, and it is one of the most iconic images of President Trump's entire campaign, that moment in Pennsylvania where he survived an assassination attempt. Well, here we are, folks, and some are now saying we should re examine that moment as a possible hoax. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ. The names the people attached to this role, this weird conversation that's kind of bubbling up, are a little surprising.
00:00:37
Speaker 2: It is because this is a group of former MAGA stallwarts, just major massive trumpbackers who believed in the MAGA mission are now basically cutting ties with the president and asking serious questions.
00:00:55
Speaker 3: That is ruffling the feathers of a lot of folks in the White House.
00:00:59
Speaker 1: Should I take this? Should we all take this under consideration, Robes and consider the sourcing of this, because a lot of people who are now bringing up questions. And yes, folks, we are sitting here discussing the possibility of, at best, not having all the information of that assassination attempt, at worse, it being some kind of hoax. But Robes, do we have to take into consideration that alive. This is coming from people who've had actually pretty public falling outs with the president.
00:01:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that all has to be taken into context. But I think something that spoke loudly to me was the wife of the man who was killed during that assassination attempt, Corey Comfretre's wife, Helen, on the anniversary of his death, she asked, this, all I've wanted this entire time was to sit down with the men, meaning this secret servicemen who screwed up that day and find out why why at that rally? Why at that one in Butler, Pennsylvania.
00:01:56
Speaker 1: So there are and this is why. So, folks, we are not here. And I think a lot of people aren't necessarily peddling conspiracy theories. Some are, some have been from the very but yet absolutely and that's fine, that's not what we're talking about. There is a different type of conversation bubbling up now, and folks and rose folks like the one you just mentioned, his widow, you will listen to her. And she's not necessarily peddling a conspiracy theory. She is saying, my husband is dead and I don't have all the answers as to what happened that day, what went wrong? The motives of the shooter, Like so much of us, I don't have answers. That is legit and we should listen to that.
00:02:34
Speaker 2: I agree, and it is questionable. I went back and started looking at this twenty year old shooter and it's interesting just to find out what his motivations were, and there really aren't any significant answers. And the bigger questions that are being asked now is why aren't there more questions? Why haven't there been more investigations. Why haven't we been talking about this? Why hasn't President Trump been talking about this?
00:03:02
Speaker 1: That is interesting for the people who have put this theory or lately, at least Robes.
00:03:09
Speaker 4: They point to several things.
00:03:10
Speaker 1: We'll go through some of the things that they point to as saying why this is questionable, But that.
00:03:15
Speaker 4: Is one of them.
00:03:16
Speaker 1: Robe, just for a anecdotal standpoint. We are all used to the president not being very shy about speaking on things and people who have done him wrong. This was a moment, Robes like it or not, that turned him into the damn near hero, maybe not even damn near. I should say that picture is unbelievable.
00:03:39
Speaker 2: Some people would say that is the reason why he won the election, that that pushed him over the edge at that point.
00:03:45
Speaker 1: It certainly didn't hurt at that point. But that is an iconic image that they have put up at the White House, have they not?
00:03:50
Speaker 4: His fist in the.
00:03:51
Speaker 1: Air light coming down? Yes, secret service around him. It was just iconic. Well, a lot of people say it was too iconic and too perfect. We will get in that, so let's start robes do I don't know how much we should start with Marjorie Taylor Green at least getting more attention to this. But she put out a post in which she was pointing out somebody else's post, So it's a little it's a little comp She's not the one directly doing it or making a hoax accusation, but she lent credibility in her name to somebody else's agreed.
00:04:21
Speaker 2: So her basic thing is she believes the president, along with several others, should be leading the charge to determine all the facts surrounding the attempt on his life, and it's questionable why he hasn't why he isn't doing that, And so her repost this was her caption, extremely important post worth the read and consideration. Corey Comparatori's family deserves to know the truth about Matthew Crooks and what happened in Butler on July thirteenth, twenty twenty four. Matthew Crooks is the man who was shot and killed by Secret Service for making that attempt on President Trump's life and killing Corey in the crowd and severely injuring two others.
00:05:03
Speaker 1: Okay, so what Marjorie Taylor Green is saying, this important post that we all need to see is really long. I'm not sure how much of this one you want to share here, Robes, because it is a long one. But this is a woman who is a delegate to the Republican National Convention. She is from Texas, so she is very much engaged in Republican politics. She's very much a member of MAGA. I don't know if we can call her a former member at this point, but she is someone who was a strong Donald Trump supporter. She decides to go on and she gives a really long post explaining Robes why she thinks and points to certain things. I think when you say she goes as far as saying she does believe it's a hoax.
00:05:40
Speaker 2: Yes, yes, and look and you pointed out she was a former staunch supporter. She wrote an entire book supporting the president, just the tweets about his sweet So this is a woman who was absolutely a massive MAGA supporter. So yes, she writes that. On the night that Trump's spoke at the Republican National Convention, she was a delegate there. As you pointed out, she said he had the ear patch on, and this is where she started to say she saw a red flag. He said, so many people have asked me what happened. Tell us what happened, please, And therefore I will tell you exactly what happened, and you'll never hear it from me a second time, because it's actually too painful to tell.
00:06:22
Speaker 3: This is what she wrote.
00:06:23
Speaker 2: As I stood on the convention floor, you could have heard a pin drop as he spoke. My first thought was, how odd for him to begin this way. He was nearly assassinated just a few days before, and yet he was declaring this would be the only time he spoke of it.
00:06:39
Speaker 3: That was my first red flag.
00:06:41
Speaker 2: When people tell a lie, certainly a big one, it is tough to keep all the details straight, and doing so is an effort, in my opinion, Trump made that statement to stop any further conversation about what happened. He gave us his official story, would only do it once and that was the end of it. Now we all know no one loves Trump more than Trump, so this to me felt completely out of character.
00:07:06
Speaker 3: So that's her first point.
00:07:07
Speaker 1: Like she said, in my opinion that okay, and she's certainly welcome to have one. This does not a conspiracy make just because this guy, this is one space. I will give the president some space on rhaps he got what millimeters away from death potentially. Look, I don't know how that impacts somebody. I don't know how that makes somebody feel. I don't know if that makes you want to get up and talk about and relive that moment that often, I don't know.
00:07:34
Speaker 4: This is where I will give him some space. It doesn't.
00:07:36
Speaker 1: It maybe flies in the face of what we are used to with this president. But like she said, this is in her opinion about how he should behave after a near death experience.
00:07:45
Speaker 3: Correct, correct, And it just it doesn't.
00:07:48
Speaker 2: I hear what you're saying, and I agree with you, because we don't know how one feels in that moment, but we have seen him just aggressively go after anyone repeatedly who even says anything bad about him, let alone makes an aden tempt on his life. She goes on to say, fast forward to the questioning of Secret Service on how this was allowed to happen.
00:08:06
Speaker 3: If you look at the perfectly.
00:08:08
Speaker 2: Timed iconic photo Trump standing triumphantly screaming fight, fight fight, following the inauguration, I found it odd that Trump wasn't going to aggressively go after those who allowed this to happen. He seemed to behave like it was no big deal. His Secret Service detail failed him massively, allowed him to be shot, and then they allowed that perfectly timed photo op to take place. Instead of Secret Service detail being terminated as they should have been, Trump made the gentleman in the white shirt the head of Secret Service. Instead of losing his job, he was given a massive promotion. Now, I want you to look critically at the photo. They allowed President Trump to stand up, exposing multiple potential kill shots as the flag is gently lowered. So she's basically saying that this looked scripted, like a studio actually created the moment where this picture could be taken.
00:09:00
Speaker 1: Okay, So her second argument is that it was such a beautiful photo that it had to be staged. Again, I'm giving her room for having her opinion, but you could easily look at this as I mean, that was chaos in that moment, and she's saying that this was such a beautiful Hollywood production to time all that out just perfectly.
00:09:18
Speaker 4: That's okay, that's her opinion.
00:09:20
Speaker 1: But you're right that photo is as iconic and unbelievable that that shot was caught.
00:09:25
Speaker 4: It is amazing. Yeah, it is amazing.
00:09:28
Speaker 3: I agree with all of that now.
00:09:30
Speaker 4: The photo was amazing.
00:09:31
Speaker 2: It is and then you even said at the time, babe, that it was unbelievable that the Secret Service world would even allow that his head to pop up like that. If you remember when Reagan had his assassination attempt, they immediately threw him in that vehicle, covered him, and James Brady took a bullet for him.
00:09:48
Speaker 3: I mean, that's typically what we see proops with.
00:09:51
Speaker 1: This is only in US covering Secret Service, knowing Secret Service, interacting with Secret Service over the years. There is again, I don't we're not in training. It's hard to believe after a shot rings out, we should have never seen the president's facing correct shit to stand out. I know he's a big dude, he's a strong dude, he's a powerful guy, and there are five how many agents around him? I don't know how we got such a clear shot of his face. There was an opportunity here shoot him again. That is not something we know they're trained. It's again, it's chaos. Maybe he was fighting them, maybe it was a struggle, maybe he was pushing. Maybe it's the president who knows. But her point there is that somebody possibly either staged it, or maybe they just were bad in their jobs, or maybe it was confusing and chaotic in the moment.
00:10:39
Speaker 4: I don't know.
00:10:39
Speaker 2: There are questions that I think deserved maybe perhaps some answers. Now, this next statement she makes, I think is really interesting. She says, since the attempt on his life, Trump has shown no interest in investigating what really happened. He never mentions it. It's as if it never happened, except when he tells us he took a bullet for us. She goes on to say, as for Corey, he was used in this plot. Someone had to die. Otherwise it would have been much easier to claim it.
00:11:06
Speaker 3: Was a hoax.
00:11:07
Speaker 2: They killed Corey likely because he was truly a real life hero, one people would rally behind and defend passionately, as they should, and then to top it off, they used Corey to their benefit at the convention. To this day, his wife is begging for answers, answers she has repeatedly been denied. Sadly, they have no more use for her. She no longer matters. If you cannot look at the story and use critical thinking skills and have at least some questions, you're the problem and we need you to snap out of it. This is what this woman wrote in her post that Marjorie Taylor Green reposted, and then she did say I'm not calling the Butler assassination a hoax, but there's This is Marjorie Taylor Green. Sorry to be specific, but there are a lot of questions that deserve public answers. I am asking why won't Trump release the information about Matthew Crooks? Did he actually act alone? If not, who is behind him? Who helped him? Why the car?
00:12:00
Speaker 4: Again? That's just I think about the widow.
00:12:03
Speaker 1: Yes, she has answers that she deserves, and she doesn't have them, she has the right to ask for them. She is not calling it a hoax, but that you have someone stepping up and that's the part that gets a little painful there, Robes, And you have to question she's standing up, a woman standing up and saying your husband died because this whole thing was staged and he was just a pawn because they needed to kill a hero. And then the president of the United States went and participated and using your husband's death in a political Robes. That is a heavy, big, serious accusation that I think we need to give a little more respect to that. And I say respect, that's just not a conspiracy theory. That's just not throwing it out. We should address that in a more in a heftier way. And I guess Marjorie Taylor Green tried to come back, and she put up a couple of posts, right, she tried to clarify even her previous one. But Robes, that is to say that the president participated in a hoax in which your husband died and then he used your husband's death Robes, that's a serious accusation to be making against the president.
00:13:10
Speaker 3: It's it's beyond serious.
00:13:12
Speaker 2: And look, a lot of folks, as you've mentioned, a couple of folks have been continuing this, and it's been a growing outcry now from a lot of former MAGA members. But they do talk about the fact that if you look at the footage, how was Crooks able to position himself with a clear line of sight right towards Trump. There's just and it's true when I started thinking about it. We don't hear the president talk about it. We don't hear any talk about the gunman. I forgot who the gunman's name was. I forgot who he was, where he came from. I don't remember hearing much about him at all.
00:13:47
Speaker 1: There were investigations. They determined there was a they didn't have never came up with a motive. They came up with the You remember the and the Secret Service director at the time she lost her job, does she not? It was a woman, yes, yes, So again this woman is talking about people not losing their jobs. And when this guy was elevated, well somebody was out of there as well. And they did talk about the failures. They did talk about the communication failures, the headsets and the things weren't working. There weren't proper communication all kinds. They did do a review and determined that they screwed up so there was something. Again, it doesn't necessarily necessarily seem like it's in line with the president's personality. Okay, we should bring that up and talk about it and ask a further question. Barrells, You got the likes of some big names adding to this conspiracy by just saying we have questions. Yes, we have questions. They're not saying it's a hoax. They're not conspiracy. We have questions that haven't been answered. That's legit.
00:14:45
Speaker 2: Yes, you've got conservative podcaster Tim Dillon, who was a former staunch Trump backer, Tucker Carlson and his son Buckley speaking out about wanting answers to questions. They even had former US National counter Terrorism Center director Joe Kent on car podcast, and look, he just resigned his post in protest of the Iranian war, but he said on the podcast that the Trump administration failed to provide more information about this assassination attempt, and he claims that the investigations into it were shut down. So this is the former National counter Terrorism Center director Joe Kent. So there are some big names attached to this call for answers for asking questions, and that is I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting more information surrounding what happened, why it happened, how it happened, and just the curiosity as to why Trump doesn't talk about this more. When we come back, we are going to tell you what the White House has officially said about these growing calls.
00:15:47
Speaker 3: For more answers, and.
00:15:58
Speaker 2: Welcome back everyone to this episode of Amy and TJ where there are several former MAGA that was funny forma former MAGA stall warts now questioning the events around Trump's assassination attempt. They're questioning whether or not there is any validity to these claims of a hoax, that perhaps this was an elaborate setup to push President Trump into victory in November.
00:16:28
Speaker 3: There are a lot of folks who believe this.
00:16:29
Speaker 2: Those are conspiracy theorists, but there are a lot of genuine questions that are now being asked by folks who were big, huge supporters of President Trump now saying hey, wait a minute, this is.
00:16:42
Speaker 3: A little disturbing.
00:16:44
Speaker 2: We have questions that we haven't gotten answers to, and there are plenty of folks who are now bringing this to a much bigger level, and there's a lot of reacts, and the White House has responded, Now we are hearing from the White House. They said, on that tragic day and Butler Pennsylvania, we tragically lost an American hero, Corey Comparatory, who selflessly, self leslie laid down his life to protect those around him. President Trump will never forget Corey and his beautiful family. On that dark day, God spared President Trump's life by a miraculous millimeter. President Trump is standing stronger than ever as he continues to fight, fight, fight for the American people. Only a fool would believe otherwise. What do you think of that statement as a rebuttal to these questions?
00:17:34
Speaker 1: Any what else are they supposed to say? I mean, you just you just give an answer, You give a response and hope it goes away. I mean, on its face, yeah, it is ridiculous to think that the president and the administration set up of an assassination attempt to try to win an election.
00:17:50
Speaker 4: That's absurd.
00:17:52
Speaker 1: But we are in different times, so there you'd almost just you can't even consider that we shouldn't even talk about something like that. But Robes, we're in a different time of different voices and different conspiracies, and those folks with voices that normally wouldn't get a microphone. Now have millions of followers, and they can get that message out. And these debates happen in public, and folks like Marjorie Taylor Green add their voices to these things. But I think they are legit concerns. And his wife, the wife of the firefighter who's killed, any question she has should be answered.
00:18:30
Speaker 3: I agree.
00:18:30
Speaker 2: I think when you hear Helen and she hasn't been banging a drum, I mean she's but she has spoken when asked and has said that she doesn't feel satisfied with the investigation, that she needs more information, and I think that's a fair request by her and from her. Now we should point out if and you did say this, the Federal Task Force, they did investigate, They did put out a report that concluded that the shooting was as it appeared. But this twenty year old kid, who didn't seem to have a beef with anybody, whose former classmates spoke of him as a mild mannered, seemingly non violent individual, it puzzled a lot of folks who knew him and who loved him, and it wouldn't look It's never a bad thing to have more information It's never a bad thing to ask questions, to peddle conspiracy theories, that's dangerous. But I do think this is a moment in which there is an opportunity for there to be a little bit more transparency.
00:19:33
Speaker 1: It's always the hope that's always open. But yeah, there's a story we hadn't thought about. He thought it was done. It was put to bed. But there are people who in particular, who were impacted by this who haven't put it to bed, and while many of the rest of us have moved on. So maybe that is a good thing that Marjorie Taylor Green is putting this back on a radar. Maybe there will be some could lead to more answers for people who actually do need them and not just conspiracy theorists.
00:19:58
Speaker 2: All right, we will, of course just keep our ear to the ground on this one and keep you updated. But we always appreciate you listening to us. I'm Amy Roeboch alongside T. J.
00:20:07
Speaker 3: Holmes. We always appreciate you. Thank you, and we will be talking to you soon.
