Speaker 1: You know his face. If you don't know his name, google him. But he's known for a host of television and movie roles. He was stabbed to death and police say it was his girlfriend's son who was responsible.

Speaker 3: Yeah, this happened. Apparently Robes was just getting out that it's actually him. So this happened on Wednesday. Authorities were alerted to an la area at home where they found again this longtime actor. Again. This is one of the you don't recognize the name immediately, James Handy. It is James Handy, but oh sorry, no, no, no, that's on me. I've miss wrote it in there for you. But James Handy, this is one of the guys Robes. It's one of these guys you don't immediately know the name, then you see the face and go oh oh oh. He had a long, long career, eighty one years old. But they found him unconscious in the front yard. Police say they went to the house because the suspect alerted them that they needed to come there. It called nine one one Robes and what he said to nine one one is just bizarre, and no one at least at this point is able to explain this.

Speaker 1: It's eerie and it sounds like something a serial killer would say. So when he called nine one one, he reportedly said, I am the son of man. I just killed the man of sin Ooh. His name is forty four year old Michael Gledhill. He was arrested on one count of murder. But yeah, you just try to get your head around the fact that he stabbed to death a beloved actor who was eighty one years old.

Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense. And apparently they all live there at the house together, but this doesn't It doesn't make any sense. But again, you don't know the name necessarily when you first hear it. When you google it now and you see James Handy's face, you're gonna go all in robes. He was in Jumanji. He was I didn't realize he had a small role in Top Gun. Maverick is a Barton, but just a I looked up the m and I said, oh, yeah, that guy in the movie, and he was in Jumanji and he was on everything on TV and.

Speaker 3: Well, I'll continue on the run here on this Friday morning. Day one of testimony in the Carmelo Anthony tri began yesterday and as expected, Robes and threw out. We're going to hear some emotional testimony.

Speaker 1: Yes, several coaches, and most of them did not have a dry eye on the stand. They were all at the scene of that track meet where prosecutors say seventeen year old Anthony stabbed seventeen year old Austin Metcalf. And among the coaches we heard, we heard from Metcalf's head track coach Robert Starr, and he described the scene as he came upon it moments after the stabbing, saying Austin was on the ground with a hole in his chest, and Anthony was emotional, saying he put his hands on me.

Speaker 3: Another coach testified through tears as well about comforting Anthony after the stabbing, saying he believed his emotions were genuine and did not try to run from him. Testimony began with a video expert. Durer saw several grainy videos from a surveillance camera of the moments leading up to the stabbing and robes a lot of people waiting to see this video and thought it was going to make the incident clearer in people's mind, And it doesn't really show, So we're still going to end up having to go with witness accounts versus actually having a clear understanding and video of what happened.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the only thing that came out of it was that the whole incident from start to finish when they approached each other was like four minutes, less than four minutes. That's how quickly things escalated. But the other big headline coming out of this trial is that, Yes, we know that Carmelo Anthony is black and the victim, Austin Metcalf was white, and there were no black jurors seated in this jury, which has drawn a lot of outrage from several groups and certainly will be grounds for an appeal.

Speaker 3: All right, continuing on the run here on this Friday morning, California, still counting ballots. The closely watched racists were governor and for LA Mayor. Still at this point have not beneficially called and robes to youth day.

Speaker 1: Right, Yes, here we are all these Yeah, the top two candidates in each race earned the right to face one another come November. So in the LA Mayor's race, income at Karen Bass has secured her place on the November ballot, but we still need to find out who she will face, Reality stars Spencer Pratt or city council member.

Both of these races, there's somewhere between sixteen and sixty five percent of the votes, and the precincts have reported their voting, so roads it's a significant mount still out there. The governor's race. The top three right now former Fox News contributor Steve Hilton, followed closely by Democrat Xavier Bresera, and then Democrat Tom Steier is in a little distant third. But none of this has been called. We don't know the top two, not even the top one.

Speaker 1: There are just the rules that California has in place mail in ballots you can actually receive them up to a week after the election took place, so couriously slow, but this seems exceptionally so, all right. Next up on the run, Senate hopeful Graham Platner is denying new scathing allegations against him detailed in a New York Times article. Several ex girlfriends do Scott described the Democrat from Maine as volatile, unfaithful, and, at least by one account, physically violence.

Speaker 3: And other girlfriends were interviewed as well. They had positive things to say about the former combat veteran turned oyster farmer. Platner denied being violent. He said, quote, Throughout this campaign, I've been open about what was a very dark period of my life when I struggled with undiagnosed PTSD, too often self medicated with alcohol, and was far from a perfect boyfriend. Any characterization beyond that is false. And I believe politically motivated.

So they're going to make some kind of walkway to connect the Lincoln Memorial to the Potonac. That's the project.
