But yes, along the way, we'll be making stops today at New York and Texas and Massachusetts at Cambridge University as well. Also be making a stop in California's fourteenth District, also in the waters of the Middle East, and we'll make a special stop at Sandford Stadium on the campus of the University of Georgia. Good happens. So we will hit all those spots. But let's start robes of all places. We talk about ISIS and we're talking about New York but not right right. If you hear that initially, you might think Manhattan, New York City, what's going on? But that's not the case here.

Speaker 1: The FBI says it has stopped an ISIS inspired attack on New York State Capitol building, and a thirty five year old woman has been arrested and charged with trying to carry out the attack. None of the story is what it seems initially from the headlines. We're talking about Jessica Bowie. She is accused of providing material support to a terrorist organization.

Speaker 2: Authority say she converted to Islam five years ago, as kept up a presence on social media in which she has expressed support for ISIS, and she was caught when she communicated with several people in hopes of learning how to make an explosive device. She didn't realize though, in all of her communication and all of her planning, she was talking to somebody who was only posing as an ISIS facilitator. Robes, it was actually an FBI informant.

Speaker 1: Next up on the run, a progressive Democrat has been declared the winner in California's fourteenth district and will replace Eric Swallwell in Congress. The race had been too close to call for two days since Tuesday's election, but Aisho Wahab, a state senator, has now won the seat that Swallwell gave up when he resigned amid sexual assault allegation.

Speaker 2: So in winning Robe, she wins the right to serve out the rest of his term, which is the rest of this year. Of course, then she has to go back and run again. They have to do this. They're literally going to run it back in November to see who is going to now get their own full two year seat. Speaker 1: Next up on the run, A judge will continue to hear arguments today from Carmelo Anthony's attorneys, who say the Texas team should get a new trial. You'll remember Anthony was convicted back in June for stabbing Austin Metcalf. It all happened during an altercation in the bleachers at a high school track.

Speaker 3: Meet last year. Anthony was sentenced to thirty five years in prison.

Speaker 2: So his argument in court is that he didn't get a fair trial. They're pointing out all kinds of things that happened in that first wi. This hearing is underway. Now. I was under the impression it was going to be a one day thing, but it actually continues into today, so we'll see how far they get. The attorneys for Cameralo Anthony have already had one victory ropes. They got the trial judge removed from hearing this motion for a new trial because of bias it.

Wow, So stuff is coming out about Carl Anthony had like some violent writings, his girlfriend had reported that he was stalking her. Austin Metcalf had gotten in trouble for some racist graff he had. Speaker 1: It was another shortened but eventful day at the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial that they began with a delay because hundreds of women dressed in all pink held a silent rally outside the courthouse to support Clancy and women suffering from mental health disorder. So basically, anyone who was walking into the courthouse yesterday morning had to walk past this very large display of support for Lindsay Clancy.

Speaker 1: Wanted it so they had a sidebar. They literally brought the jurors in one by one. It delayed the beginning of the of the day of testimony by about thirty minutes because they had to. They said, one by one they'd see the jurors get sworn in and answer questions from the judge.

Just one witness on the day, in hospital chaplain who visited Lindsay Clancy more than two hundred times after the killings. This was Sheila Kavanaugh. She testified. Clancy spoke of hearing a voice that said if she did not follow the command, neither she nor her children would be safe. She gave some This was more even her tone, obviously, but there was something. There was a She makes you sit up with a sweetness, and you take her very seriously. She's very solemn, but has a smile on her face, she spent a lot of time with She's a very credible witness robes. I think she comes off as someone that I believe in describing what she saw in this woman, and she's spent a lot of time.

After jurors were dismissed just before eleven am, so this was such a short day. Attorneys on both sides then hashed out some potential juror instructions, and that got interesting because the defense put up this argument saying they want to introduce an involuntary intoxication defense, which the prosecution pushed back against.

You just mentioned Robe Hayden Penantier giving an update here that we are hearing from her boyfriend for the first time since her death. Of course, she died on Sunday at the age of thirty six on responsible and yes, it was her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson who placed that nine to one one call.

Speaker 1: Through his attorney, he broke his silence saying this Hayden's death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed. As has been publicly reported, Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Now Nathan Confas once worked at Cambridge, but as currently a researcher at Ghent University in Belgium. That university has now suspended him. Robes. This story keeps going.

Speaker 1: Yes, the university said in a statement it is going to review public comments by Confass, adding that academic freedom and debate also come with responsibility. Confass was part of the onslaught of criticism and attacks against our Day, who at thirty seven, became the youngest black professor in Cambridge history.
