FBI Warning To Parents: A Sadistic Group You’ve Never Heard of is After Your Kids Online

Have you ever heard of Nihilistic Violent Extremist groups, or NVEs? Well, the FBI wants to make sure you are up to speed on several online groups in this country actively targeting and recruiting your young kids to commit acts of violence towards others and themselves. The warning issued to parents this week reads like a horror movie, with the conviction of a 19-year-old who is just one of dozens of mostly young men who are obsessed with violence and mass killings. The feds say their targets are often underage females, and kids who are struggling with depression, and encourage them through grooming tactics and coercion to harm themselves, even kill themselves on livestreams and videos.

Speaker 1: Hey, folks, it is Saturday, July eleventh. Quick question for your parents? Do you know what an n v E is? Doesn't sound familiar? What about a group called eighty eight eighty four? No, what about another group called seven sixty four? Well, if you don't know what they are, you should, because federal authorities say they are after your kids. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ that what is a parent supposed to do? There's entirely too much out there online? This is another one they've been warning about for years. But Robes, this is once again something else parents are overwhelmed with. How do you keep kids safe online?

00:00:44
Speaker 2: This is one of the more frightening stories I have read as a parent in modern times, because this is a warning that has come out from the FBI, from federal authorities, and they've actually put out a public service announcement because they want parents to be aware of these groups that you just described. And you asked what are nbes? Does it help if we ask what are nihilistic violent extremist groups?

00:01:11
Speaker 1: Still doesn't make anything, I have to tell you.

00:01:13
Speaker 2: And we are we are more aware than most because we are online. We are looking at stories, we are reading about talking about investigating crimes, and we've been doing so for decades, and this still stood out to me as a what in the hell am I reading? And the details of what these groups have done are currently doing and a recent conviction that just was announced in terms of specific acts of violence and aggression. I mean, these are some of the more concerning accounts of what is happening to kids online that I have ever seen in my life.

00:01:52
Speaker 1: So let's get into what we're actually talking about. What the hell are we talking about? In v EASE authorities, there has been a sharp increase in activity of the so call in the EASE. He keeps saying it, what the hell are we talking about? It stands for nihilistic violent extremists. What there's groups out there online and robes. It's hard to say like it's one organization or where it's over here, or you can go arrest this group, or there there have members or you joined. No, it's just kind of this nebulous. It's just this, It just exists out there that's not centralized in any way. Robes. But the definition they give, I don't even know if this it's hard to nail down. Even once they give you the definition of what it is.

00:02:39
Speaker 2: Yes, so they the government describes enves as this. They engage in criminal conduct within the United States and abroad in furtherance of political, social, or religious goals that derive primarily from a hatred of society at large and a desire to bring about its collapse by sowing in discriminate chaos, destruction, and social instability. Nbs, they say, demand covererse and extort victims to engage in a variety of violent conduct, including self mutilation online and in person, sexual acts, harm to animals, sexual exploitation of siblings and others, acts of violence, threats of violence, suicide, and even murder. They say, these are people who are obsessed with violence and mass killings in an effort to break apart society.

00:03:34
Speaker 1: That is, well, I've seen movies in which there's a group that just wants the downfall of society. But this is hard to put your hand on. Robes and they say, like, why would anybody want to do this? Just sounds like a bunch of sick individuals. But sometimes they want to be a part of this group, but their motivation is individualized. Robes. Sometimes they might get off on it sexual gratification. They might just think it's fun that we talk about trying to bring down society. How can you bring down society by having one kid in a room harm himself or herself. But that's the thing rope. You don't know the motivation. They don't know who they're after, why they're after Excuse me, They know a little bit of the who, but what their real goal is, what the aim is of these nv e's robes. This is This is terrifying for parents.

00:04:21
Speaker 2: It is terrifying because when you don't understand the motivation other than this bizarre collective desire to bring down society, but then to think that there is actually.

00:04:34
Speaker 3: Status among the group.

00:04:35
Speaker 2: Whereas the more you do or the more you get someone else to do, and you have either a live stream to prove it or a video to prove it, your status within that group is elevated. So you're actually looking it's a hierarchy. It's like any other group. Even if they're all fairly anonymous and joined only through online groups, they still have a desire to compete, to be the best among the worst, basically almost like gang mentality.

00:05:04
Speaker 1: It's wild, like look what I got this girl to do to herself, and they're posting that and showing it to other members of this group, and you get clout, what can't like.

00:05:15
Speaker 2: This is so shocking to me, and yet it shouldn't be. I guess, but and you said, girl. The main target here, according to federal authorities, is underage females. So if you have a young girl in your home, and we certainly do, we're talking about they actually gave ages between ten and seventeen, but they also say that they've gone as young as nine, going after like seeking out young, vulnerable, impressionable girls. It makes me sick because you see these I can already see these girls, these young girls who are trying to belong, trying to fit in, trying to be cool some guy who's nineteen twenty, because that's about the age of the men who they say it's men under the age of twenty five typically.

00:05:57
Speaker 3: Who are the perpetrators of this.

00:06:00
Speaker 2: You've got this older guy who's paying attention to you, and he grooms them. They go through a process of befriending them, grooming them, making them feel special. And now this young impressionable girl who doesn't really know who she is, but knows that it feels good to be desired. It feels good to have somebody pay attention to you. Will do anything then for this older man who's telling or older guy who's telling her what to do, even if it's the unthinkable.

00:06:28
Speaker 1: It's these folks are master manipulators, and it's just amazing to think, why wouldn't you use this power for good? Like to be able to convince people to harm themselves, to cut themselves in some cases, they say, even try to get folks to in their own lives robes to be violent against a sibling, to be to kill animals like the family pet. Like they are able to just via robes, just this device, the phone, convince people to do this. You mentioned how it feels good right robes for a young woman to a little girl who maybe doesn't have her all of her confidence, an older guy showing attention. That is also part of the problem here in getting them to do stuff robes, because those young impressionable girls get threatened or cohursed because we're gonna post this about you. Yes, we're going to embarrass you in some way. Robes That is an effective tool for a young girl who's worried about her online reputation.

00:07:22
Speaker 2: Yes, someone who was convinced because they thought this guy liked them to do a sexual act, to get naked in front of the camera, to do some things that they're doing only because they want to impress this young man.

00:07:35
Speaker 3: Now they've got video of it. Now that video is.

00:07:38
Speaker 2: Being threatened to be used against them, and now they can get them to do other things like kill the family pet, like you said, urinate on themselves. Doing all of these things, you know, go well beyond what a young woman wants to do to impress a guy.

00:07:51
Speaker 3: Now she's being blackmailed, she's being doxed.

00:07:54
Speaker 2: They know where she lives, they'll say, they know her family, they know there are all these threats that are now hanging over her head.

00:08:00
Speaker 3: And now she's.

00:08:02
Speaker 2: Willing to do almost anything to protect her reputation, to make sure her parents don't find out, to make sure her other friends don't find out. And you can see how this becomes this vicious cycle where she literally feels trapped and has no one to turn to. And this is why the FBA wants parents to know, you have to be paying attention to your children, who they're talking to, what they're doing in their rooms with the door closed with the computer on, we have to pay attention.

00:08:29
Speaker 1: And this is another one. It seems impossible. Where there's so many apps, there's so many locks on them. There's an age for this one. There's a parent safety on this one. To keep up with all this kids got the Fenstas right, how do you dive in and keep up with her? It seems so overwhelming robes and now here is one more thing. And this one is scary and it's dangerous and it could be deadly that these folks are after and praying on kids for like the sickest of reasons.

00:08:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, and they go into games where there's interaction. I remember being really nervous about that, and this was a decade ago. But when these kids enter games like a roeblock or whatever, these communal games, when you think you're playing alongside another kid, or you're playing along someone who maybe is the same gender as you, suddenly they could be anyone.

00:09:16
Speaker 3: They could be.

00:09:16
Speaker 2: And that certainly is how they get into target kids, young kids, because they're on these gaming apps and they DM them and then they move over to a group chat. But they also they target kids who struggle with depression eating disorder. Suicidal ideation statement. Bates actually pick out kids who are the most vulnerable.

00:09:33
Speaker 1: And it's a lot of them online looking for community belong You mentioned the man, the instant, or the interaction with the chats. We were just talking about this with Sabine the other day and she recalled the most upset her dad has ever been with her. One when she cut her hair on her own, but the other was when I found out she had the chats open in roadblocks. I lost my ISHU And she could recall even that moment in that incident, because it is terrifying because you don't know, obviously, you and I have covered countless stories about this stuff. You don't know who's on the other end, but that's their end to these kids in those chat rooms.

00:10:22
Speaker 2: And when we come back, we're going to tell you about who was on the other end in at least one of these cases. A nineteen year old man sentence, and when you hear what he was convicted of, what he pleaded guilty to, you're going to pick up your child's phone and their computer right now. Welcome back everyone to this episode of Amy and TJ. With an urgent warning issued this week by the FBI, to all parents.

00:10:58
Speaker 3: You need to know.

00:10:59
Speaker 2: What's happened happening online with several groups out there who are targeting your children for the unthinkable and case endpoint, they showed the sentencing for a nineteen year old. His name is Alexis Aldare Chavez. He was just sentenced to forty years behind bars for racketeering, distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography. But when you hear what he pleaded guilty to, what he I normally would say, is accused of doing, but no admitted to doing this, your jaw is going to drop.

00:11:35
Speaker 1: And this goes into as we talked about at the top, these groups, there are a couple other groups to have this eighty eight eighty four name and the seven sixty four name. This is where this comes into play. But I was blown away world when you first brought this story to my attention and the guy had been convicted. This guy's nineteen years eighteen old, who's now been sentenced to forty years in prison. But in this case, at least federal authorities say these are some of the examples of what he did. Trying to have a girl kill herself in a video chat by having her overdose on pills, and another instance coursed a woman to strip naked and cut herself. In another case, talk to woman into cutting his name into her skin, And in another situation coursed a woman to cut her tongue and to kill a cat on live video. Jesus roll.

00:12:24
Speaker 2: Why unbelievable, I mean, And then another one I think there was getting the girl to urinate on herself.

00:12:30
Speaker 3: I mean, there was just all of these awful, disgusting videos that they then.

00:12:34
Speaker 2: Use against your child to continue these acts of violence.

00:12:39
Speaker 1: So this guy was in he was with a group called eighty eight eighty four. I don't know if you track down Robes where they come up with these names and what they I'm sure they stand for something. But eighty eight eighty four is the name of this one. They say, this guy's Chavez was the leader of this one. Now what is this group that? This is the government definition. Members of eighty eight eighty four work in comer with one another towards a common purpose of destroying civilized society through the corruption and exploitation of vulnerable populations, including miners. That's kind of what we've been talking about. But Robes, this group is affiliated with another group, and this other group is the larger group, which authorities say ROBES is the bigger problem.

00:13:17
Speaker 2: Yes, they say, members of seven six' four use known online social media platforms to support the, possession, production and sharing of extreme gore media and child sex abuse material with vulnerable juvenile. Populations these individuals often conduct coordinated extortions of, teenagers blackmailing the victims to comply with the group's. Demands that, is and these are kids who don't have the experience or the ability to reason with what they're experiencing and to know to even go get help from their. Parents they're, embarrassed they're, ashamed they don't want to, admit so they just keep getting suck deeper and deeper into these horrific.

00:14:05
Speaker 3: Groups but a lot.

00:14:05
Speaker 1: Of them are ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen FIFTEEN. Tv these are, Babies these are. Children these are. Children SO i didn't, know but they have warned they've been doing this since last. Year but they what they called a substantial increase in activity of these GROUPS. Robes this is. Now these are, Warned like you, said a public service, Announcement what do you suppose to do about? It how do you track them. Down how do you? Write Can't you won't be able to tell if your kid is having in some, conversation if that person is a member of this. Group you can't really tell immediately what their affiliation might, be what their intentions might. Be this IS i, guess this is just talking to the.

00:14:43
Speaker 3: Kids it's very.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Scary and, yes they do give advice to parents in this public service. Announcement they did announce to parents that, yes you need to talk to your, parents to your kids about what they, post and explain to them that you could be giving someone an abundant supply of content to, exploit, manipulate or. ALTER i, MEAN i had these conversations with my, daughters even just about what they put out on social, media knowing that it can come back to haunt them in ten years and twenty, years all of. That but also at the same TIME i used TO i REMEMBER i described this because they were in all of those gaming, roadblocks all those. Things AND i also freaked out WHEN i found out that they were chatting with people who they assumed were their, age who the other people were claiming that they were their. AGE i, said just imagine anyone who you were in a gaming room with is a.

00:15:32
Speaker 3: Monster is a.

00:15:34
Speaker 2: Sixty year old man living in the basement of his mother's, home and he is a. Monster and that you have to assume every person you're chatting with online is because they envisioned some cute girl or some cute, guy or someone who's like in their.

00:15:52
Speaker 3: Class they don't even.

00:15:53
Speaker 2: Imagine that they could be talking with someone as manipulative and as, evil and, frankly this is evil as we're seeing The feds describe who these folks.

00:16:03
Speaker 1: ARE i, mean you have to make that's too, bad but we have to make that. Assumption, uh you just Do you have to make that assumption online what you're supposed to or if you talk about The it's not just what you post about your like a a sexy photo is not. Enough sometimes ropes a sexy photo in front of a location that could identify where you, are, right we don't think about all these. Things kids don't think about, it AND i, understand but you. Are they say every post your kid puts out, there you're giving little. Clues you're giving a bad actor and opportunity to piece something together and to come after your. Kid you just got to be careful about what they. Post the warning. Signs they do give a long list, here just a, few AND i guess a lot of them make. Sense sudden behavioral changes that could be a lot of. Things changes in, appearance changes in sleeping and eating, habits drop dropping out of normal. Activities your kid has been into soccer for seven years and all of a sudden they show no interest in. It that kind of thing they're talking, about a new online friend in quotes that takes up a lot of their. Time now here's. One the family pet all of a sudden is scared of the. Kid oh my, god weird to think about. It that's.

00:17:16
Speaker 2: CRAZY i would never even that's a warning. Sign and then this is another big. One wearing long sleeves or long clothing and hot. Weather and that would be because, yes they would be covering up the cuts that some man is insisting or instructing that they create on their own. Bodies to think there's so many threats to parents and to like just to the. Kids, now this is such an overwhelming thing to read, about but it's such an important thing.

00:17:47
Speaker 3: For parents to be aware. Of it just needs to be on your. Radar you need to know what to look out.

00:17:51
Speaker 2: For AND i just think more, importantly we just need to have these conversations with our kids and remind them that it's okay if you mess, up it's okay if you do something you're embarrassed. ABOUT i am the first, person and you should come to you were having this conversation With. Sabine if you were in, trouble you shouldn't be afraid of your. Parent you should Be that should be the safest place to go. To that should be the first person you can, say, HEY i did something stupid AND i need. Help and that's the relationship you want to be able to have with your, kids not just because of this, threat but because of all the threats that are out there in the world with our kids. Today so just wanted to let you all know that this is a, thing as hard as it is to, believe really, truly the federal government was, like there are evil people out there who are actively trying to harm your, children and you need to know for.

00:18:35
Speaker 1: Sport it's not even they say this is to bring down, Society but how does it bring down society to have a fourteen year old kid harming herself in a? Room this is some twisted.

00:18:44
Speaker 3: Things it's sadistic this way it is. There it is, sadistic all.

00:18:48
Speaker 2: Right well with, that, everyone we certainly always appreciate you listening to.

00:18:52
Speaker 3: Us I'm Amy roboch ALONGSIDE. Tj. Holmes we'll talk to you.

00:18:55
Speaker 1: Soon
