00:00:01
Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Kristin Davis, and I want to know, are you a Charlotte?

00:00:10
Speaker 2: Okay, you got This is so exciting. I have my producer, Hanna Winkleman is joining me. Lo Love finally got her in camera.

00:00:21
Speaker 3: I know it's the first time. I'm a little camera shy, so I try to stay off.

00:00:24
Speaker 1: You're going to do great. You're gonna do great. We are going to recap. Plus one is the Loneliest Number. It's a very, very fascinating episode. It aired August eighteenth, two thousand and two. It's directed by Michael Patrick King and written by Cindy Shuepack and the incredible Robert John Burke is in it, who we also have a catching up with friends with, so we're gonna hear from him also this week.

00:00:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, he's fantastic.

00:00:50
Speaker 2: It's super interesting.

00:00:52
Speaker 1: But he hadn't rewatched the episodes, So since you and I rewatched the episode for today, we're just going to go through it. Because so much happens, and so many people are in this.

00:01:01
Speaker 3: Episode, so many and such a fun, incredible episode. I love this one.

00:01:05
Speaker 2: I mean, did you think it was fun? I did? I had a sadness underneath it.

00:01:11
Speaker 3: I would agree it does have a sadness, but I just really loved that it's like Carrie's book launch party, like that is so exciting and all the friends are like supporting her. But I did, I mean, we'll get into it. I really love the like plus one of this whole episode, I mean different.

00:01:26
Speaker 1: It did remind me when we talked to Julian and Elisa about how in season five they the writers had all really wanted carry to be alone for a while and that I hadn't really in my mind remembered that that was what was going on. Because season five, to me is the pregnancy you know vision, where we're about to go on hiatus unexpectedly so that Sarah Jessica can can be pregnant in peace and not trying to pretend she's not pregnant and not working eighteen hours a day.

00:01:55
Speaker 2: So it was a weird. It was a very weird season for me.

00:01:57
Speaker 1: In my mind and watching this episode, I have zero memories, which is really weird. I mean I remember outfits right, like the what I wear to the book party is like a vintage dress and that Dior is a Dior necklace, the little bow. But I also was really panicked that my nipples were going to show, literally because it's like very low gut that dropless thing. I was like, is someone watching? Because if I move, it's gonna show. Like I was really stressed watching it. But I also love like I had not remembered that she had a book party. I remember literally nothing. But it's also meta, right, because at this point the show is super successful.

00:02:38
Speaker 2: We're having these premiere parties every year. They're the huge things, and so it was kind.

00:02:43
Speaker 1: Of like a version of that within the show of Carrie's book.

00:02:47
Speaker 3: Right. Honestly, it was so good because it feels very current to today of how popular chemical peels are, the millions of different peels you can get now. Yeah, but I'm sure it was like at the time it's time then, right, Well.

00:03:01
Speaker 1: When they when she goes to the dermatologist and he's got the botox needle and he's holding it like like a crazy doctor, and then the nurse comes up and tells her like, you may not be able to register emotions. But then later on, did you notice that Enid kennis Bergen's character says, I am so angry.

00:03:21
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I think she has a judge botox that is hilarious. I did not put that together and thought that I thought the nurse in that moment was so funny. Her like straight expression looks like.

00:03:32
Speaker 1: Her so funny and odd, so funny and odd, really funny. But I think that that, you know, for us, I remember there being a lot of conversation about botox. I at this point, I am getting botox for sure, because sometimes I'm like, oh, that's that's not good botox.

00:03:49
Speaker 2: But I don't think I.

00:03:51
Speaker 1: Know this at the time, right, the things to look out for, like there's sometimes where like my eyebrows like dipping in the other the end is going up, like it's a little bit scary botox.

00:04:00
Speaker 2: But I don't think I know.

00:04:02
Speaker 1: I'm just so excited I can get my my you know, forehead wrinkles to go away.

00:04:06
Speaker 2: I'm like, yes, do it. You know, I'm not even thinking about it.

00:04:10
Speaker 1: But I think Sarah Jessica at the time was like absolutely not so that. When Carrie, you know, makes her joke or whatever, at one point she's like, no, you know, she is very Sara Jusica at the time.

00:04:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, very Sara Jessica.

00:04:23
Speaker 1: But I also think it was really so on the you know, forefront of the times that these things were becoming common, and they now are incredibly common where there's no thought whatsoever, you like, twenty two year olds are getting botox whatever, right are because they're.

00:04:38
Speaker 3: Being told it's preventative. And so I mean, and I don't know what if that's actually accurate, but it is. Yeah, it is crazy how common it is. And it's just like an it's in now it's like a regular Tuesday, like my botox appointment, I have my therapy, like it's just a normal, like add to the tally.

00:04:54
Speaker 1: I know, I know, but I do remember the excitement that I felt, so I'm not totally surprised, but it is also like a little odd, a little odd, how incredibly prevalent. And I mean for us, I feel like because you know, there was a point where, like I remember, so the storyline is like you may not be able to register emotion on your face, right. The writers wrote that in they must have been having some feelings. I guess about it, but I didn't even pause for a second.

00:05:28
Speaker 2: I was like, shoot me up, shoot up that forehead, and shoot that forehead up because I've got a million wrinkles.

00:05:33
Speaker 1: My forehead never holds still, right, but then there became a time where I was like, oh, yeah, no, it.

00:05:38
Speaker 2: Is weird that you can't move your face Like that is strange. I need to lay off this.

00:05:43
Speaker 1: And my current dermatologist believes in like less is more. So definitely, there came a time in my own you know, understanding of it or awareness of it, I guess, where I was like, oh, no, I do need to move my face. But at this point in time, I'm like, no, no, no, I don't want to move the face.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:05:59
Speaker 3: I mean I've only done botox one time, and it was before my wedding, and I was like kind of getting closer and closer, and I was like if I don't do it now, like what if I don't like it? Sort of thing. And I did it. And I had a friend's wedding that I was a bridesmaid in, and I remember looking at photos of myself that day because I had just gotten it like the week before, and I was like, why does my smile look like that? Why do is I Why do I look crazy? In a sense, no way you could tell. I could tell. And luckily, by my wedding, I felt like it had worn down enough and settled.

00:06:30
Speaker 2: But ask you.

00:06:31
Speaker 1: Was it the thing because there was this thing that happens where your upper face doesn't move when you smile.

00:06:37
Speaker 2: Was it that well? Had they done your your cross?

00:06:40
Speaker 3: They did my crows feet, and so I almost think it was like my eyebrows in a way, like they didn't move or whatsoever. And it was the first time I had done it. So I just even I still can't look at myself and my friend's wedding photostand and so it made me panic for my own wedding that I was like, am I going to hook like this in those photos? Because my wedding was a month later. But luckily it did settle, and I did end up loving it. Once it's settled, I was like, this is kind of really nice.

00:07:03
Speaker 2: To be that you don't need a baby.

00:07:05
Speaker 3: I know, I do aw some crows feet, but it's you know, it's.

00:07:08
Speaker 2: Crossfer also laughlines. You know what I'm saying.

00:07:10
Speaker 3: It's true, right true, Like it's it's you know, I'm at the point of my life too right now that I'm I'm fine.

00:07:15
Speaker 2: Definitely, definitely, definitely no.

00:07:17
Speaker 1: I quit with the crows feet right away because it did affect my smile as well, Like it just didn't like sometimes I just think it messages with the architecture of your face in a way that's like wacky, Right, So you have to figure out for yourself, like what's good, what's bad? Whatever?

00:07:30
Speaker 3: Right?

00:07:38
Speaker 1: Oh, right, So we're going to do our Hyundai hot take for episode five oh five. Plus one is the loneliest number, and this is a challenge, but I'm gonna go with Miranda at the end of the episode with baby Brady, when it's really the first time that we see her kind of bonding with the baby and being.

00:08:01
Speaker 2: Happy with it, like the baby is.

00:08:03
Speaker 1: Her plus one is basically what it's saying, and it's so beautifully shod and Cynthia looks so beautiful and the baby's so incredibly cute, and it is the first time that we kind of feel the joy of Miranda becoming a mother. I mean, I think I felt it a little when she had the baby, but it's her really embracing it and being present with him and being together with him, and it's just such an interesting way to see her in a different light. So I really love that moment, and it's celebrating iconic moments, bold moves and unforgettable style just like Hyundai. So let's talk about Carrie because the other really fun thing in this episode is that we meet Berger. I know, and I had fully, fully forgotten about how they meet, and it's so adorable.

00:08:56
Speaker 2: They meet in Amy.

00:08:57
Speaker 1: Sedaris's office, her character's office, which is book editor.

00:09:01
Speaker 2: And he's adorable.

00:09:03
Speaker 3: He is adorable. I did find it interesting. He just like barges right into like someone's office. I was like, Oh, he's comfortable there.

00:09:10
Speaker 2: Very comfortable. I mean.

00:09:11
Speaker 4: Also he's very quick with the quips, you know what I'm saying, Like you can see the writer attraction, right, and he is so different, like he seems so normal.

00:09:22
Speaker 2: Yes, it's almost shockingly normal.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.

00:09:26
Speaker 2: Which is really.

00:09:27
Speaker 1: Interesting because at the time Ron is in Bandon Brothers and band of Brothers. I feel like Brandon Brothers had been on because that's what I did after nine to eleven when I was stuck and I couldn't couldn't get out of New York, I sat and watched band of Brothers. So Bandit Brothers was kind of like a big deal, you know, for all those guys, right, And so Damian Lewis is also in Bandon Brothers with Ron, and it was between Damian Lewis and Ron.

00:09:58
Speaker 3: For the part of Burgers.

00:09:59
Speaker 2: Yes.

00:09:59
Speaker 1: Oh, I know this because I knew them, and because they came to the set and I, you know, went to find them and you know, we were on location somewhere strange and they had to find their way whatever.

00:10:10
Speaker 2: And I no offense Ron.

00:10:13
Speaker 1: I really wanted Damien personally, and I could not understand why Michael Patrick did not cast Damien. Yeah, when I watch it, I'm like, of course he didn't cast Damien.

00:10:26
Speaker 2: Like Ron is perfect. He's so normal. He's not like the other guys that Carrie's been with at.

00:10:34
Speaker 3: All, not at all. He's so normal. It's very refreshing to see. It's just like cool dude kind of Yeah, it's just so casual. Carry is not with anyone who's been casual. Like, no, it's fully, fully different. And I didn't really understand that at the time.

00:10:51
Speaker 1: Michael Patrick said that he didn't want the character to be British and that he thought that Damien was weird when he did his American accent. But whatever, it was strange for Michael to hear Damien do American at the time accent and that's what hung him up or whatever, and At the time, I was super frustrated with Michael Patrick about this, But now.

00:11:10
Speaker 2: I see it, I'm like, well, this makes perfect sense.

00:11:12
Speaker 3: He knows what he's doing.

00:11:15
Speaker 2: He knows what he's doing, and it's so adorable.

00:11:17
Speaker 1: But also I've forgotten everything about the storyline that they share Amy Sideris's book editor character, right, and that he has a book that came out last year.

00:11:27
Speaker 2: But it was a comic book for men. What.

00:11:30
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like a comic book about relationships for men.

00:11:36
Speaker 1: But then he's like, well, the only problem is men don't buy you know, graphic novels or whatever.

00:11:42
Speaker 2: I was like, what on earth? So then they go.

00:11:44
Speaker 1: They're having this like incredibly flirtatious date that's not a date. That they leave Amy's office and her name is not Amy, but whatever, I'm just gonna call her yes, And they go and they sit on the bench and they're just flirting NonStop. I mean, it's like flirty, flirty, flirty, but she's not the one driving the flirty.

00:12:03
Speaker 2: That's what also was interesting.

00:12:05
Speaker 3: Agreed that it makes so much sense why she's confused as soon as he says right, and then.

00:12:10
Speaker 1: All of a sudden, yeah, she finally like gets up the nerve to say, like, would you be my plus one? Because that is the theme of the episode, that she doesn't have a plus one. Not a lot of us don't have plus ones at the time, and he's like, oh no, I can't because my girlfriend's parents are here. It's the worst shock. Oh my god. And for me because I didn't remember any of this, that would have basically been like.

00:12:33
Speaker 2: Like he's out, like he would not I would in life.

00:12:38
Speaker 1: I would just be like, no, that person is there's something wrong with that person.

00:12:42
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:12:42
Speaker 3: There's moments too that I agree with Carrie that I was just like there were many opportunities. And then the conversation to like bring up that he has.

00:12:51
Speaker 1: A social so many so many and he seems fully single. Yes, and he does what I mean, reads the message central, but also then the way he casually like he doesn't go, oh, I'm sorry, I should have mentioned I have a girlfriend, Like he's just like, oh no, I can't because it's just very he's like out of sync a little bit that he's that flirtatious and yet he lives with a girl. But they are soon to break up, as we know because he does stay around. But now I'm like, wait, what happens? Like now, I don't remember what happens, I.

00:13:24
Speaker 3: Know, and I just, yes, I agree with you the way he like brings it up and so casually. But she and then even you know, carries like but we're breaking up soon, and like the next thing, when she's talking with the girls about it, like no mention of that, and I was like, yeah, like I feel like the way he was acting was kind of like maybe that is the case. I don't blame her for thinking that way, because.

00:13:47
Speaker 2: Obviously I'm pretty sure.

00:13:50
Speaker 1: But then obviously this is the guy who breaks up with her on a post it like my signs were there, I think, right right?

00:13:56
Speaker 3: It is kind of almost a red flag to them, right, he try and date this person and after that's how they're so acting casually with you another single woman that he just met who's very red flag.

00:14:10
Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's so like like when he comes to the book party, because then he comes even though he tells her that he can't come, and he's like, you look amazing, and I'm just like, oh, dude.

00:14:19
Speaker 2: What's happening. I know, I don't remember any of this at.

00:14:23
Speaker 1: All, but yet he's so normal seeming yes, it's not like he's a player, right.

00:14:30
Speaker 3: I know, I know I don't get the player vibes from him at all, but it yeah, like now look being an outsider looking back and what I know.

00:14:37
Speaker 2: No, exactly, yes it is.

00:14:39
Speaker 3: It's like, oh, that is a red flag, and that's a red flag. But this is happens every day with women dating. You miss these you miss these red flags or these moments, and you don't think further into them.

00:14:49
Speaker 1: Right, Because also I feel for Carrie because Carrie's like, I never spark with people, and you're like, wait, she never sparks with people, because like, I don't know that that's actually true, right, because if you think about like the beginning of the show, like remember the guy who throws the cigarette at her on the street and they end up dating, just.

00:15:07
Speaker 2: She literally sparks with everyone, Like I don't know if that's wrong.

00:15:11
Speaker 1: Like I don't mean to say that in a bad way, but like she's very sparkly, she's very sparky. She sparks with like a lot of people. But I think because of the big and Aiden, there's been so she's just been stuck in that for so long. So then when she's like, oh, I never spark with anyone. I think the reality is it's amazing to spark with someone new, right, Like, that's the amazing part.

00:15:32
Speaker 2: It feels like a miracle.

00:15:34
Speaker 1: So then you don't want to discount it by going like, well, wait, these are red flags, right, because it does feel so good to spark, like surprise, like you're in your editor's off it the guy walks in the editor's office and you spark.

00:15:47
Speaker 2: Like it's an amazing thing.

00:15:48
Speaker 3: Absolutely absolutely. I think it's just so easy to get lost as soon as you do have those feelings. You know, she's even like with the girls, like, I don't even remember what he looks like because I just remember the.

00:15:57
Speaker 1: Feelings like interesting, she's in this, Like yeah, that was really interesting that I don't remember what he looks like.

00:16:04
Speaker 2: I'm like, what is happening? Carrie? Who are you?

00:16:08
Speaker 1: Well?

00:16:08
Speaker 3: On that note, can I say? I thought it was so out of character for her to be eating McDonald's.

00:16:13
Speaker 2: What on earth?

00:16:14
Speaker 3: I was just like, what, this is not the Carrie?

00:16:19
Speaker 2: I agree totally. It was weird.

00:16:21
Speaker 1: I was like, is this a product placement? I had weird thoughts. I didn't wonder that didn't really have product placements. So I don't understand how that would be true.

00:16:32
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.

00:16:33
Speaker 3: We did.

00:16:34
Speaker 1: There was a McDonald's downtown near where we were often in the in the wee hours shooting and near Perry Street, basically near a Carrie's apartment, and we we would at like three am or whatever because it stayed open really late. We would be like, is it time, and it would be time to get the fries, and it was very exciting.

00:16:57
Speaker 2: But that was all we got that I remember, That was all I got.

00:17:00
Speaker 1: I think that was all anybody got, but I don't know because she also.

00:17:05
Speaker 2: Wait, is it the other episode that she eats the.

00:17:10
Speaker 1: Which is very Sarah Jessica, Like one of my first memories of her, separate from her inviting me to her trailer and eating the Krispy creame, because I'd been on Melrose where no one.

00:17:19
Speaker 5: Ate, right, so like it was just so incredible to be around someone who ate, you know, and literally everyone everyone there ate, which was amazing, probably with the exception of me, right, but it was just so great.

00:17:31
Speaker 2: Like she and Cynthia are very foody, like where are we going, what are we getting? Blah blah blah.

00:17:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, and one of My first memories is that she was in the makeup trailer and the PA said, you know, what would you like for lunch because they would go out and round things up for us, and she said Gray's papaya, which is hot dogs, but we were not close to Grey's Papaya.

00:17:52
Speaker 2: And the PA laughed because they thought she's this tiny, skinny little thing. She can't mean that.

00:17:57
Speaker 1: But she was like, no, no, I'm serious and they were like, oh, oh okay. And I think she ordered like two or three. So it's really funny thing was that in because that's that's Sarah right there.

00:18:07
Speaker 3: Oh sure, the McDonald's.

00:18:08
Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know what happened there.

00:18:11
Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's all very like. It's an interesting episode.

00:18:16
Speaker 3: I know. I do sometimes think Carrie is a bit of a chameleon two with who she's dating, and so I feel like this is almost just a sign of that coming.

00:18:25
Speaker 2: She likes him and he's normal, I agree.

00:18:28
Speaker 1: In all my time in New York, I can't remember anyone that I was ever with being like let's go to McDonald's. Like strange, you know, yeah, other than the middle of the night working right, but like that's you're just like out of your mind when you're in the middle of the night working you're just like anything fun, you know what I mean?

00:18:45
Speaker 2: But yeah, no, I can't remember, but.

00:18:47
Speaker 3: I think it also says something about burger and like how we're saying he's just such a like casual guy. He's like, hey, let's just grab McDonald's.

00:18:54
Speaker 1: Totally totally, but he is really charming, which is very It's also really interesting because I only remember kind of towards the end, you know, when he's it's not that he's not charming, but he's we know him better and he's a little less charming, I guess, like as time goes on.

00:19:11
Speaker 2: But man, when we get him in here, I mean, it is like, wow, yeah it is.

00:19:16
Speaker 5: I was.

00:19:16
Speaker 1: I was like, wow, this is a very charming, normal guy but also smart, like the word play and everything and Michael Patrick. This is so Michael Patrick to me, Like they love the words, you know what I'm saying.

00:19:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, Like they.

00:19:28
Speaker 1: Talk about the words and what word is funnier? And you know, he tells a story and what does he say, like crouch. She's like, I can't believe you're saying croutch to me, And then he says it with the different words. She's like, yeah, no, it's funny, like they have a little writer, you know, repartee.

00:19:45
Speaker 2: Yes, it's cute. It's really really cute. But I do feel a little bit bad for.

00:19:50
Speaker 1: Her that she has no plus one to her own book party. And I mean, this is someone who often does not have a plus one too, so maybe that's why I relate. But I'm like, yeah, that is it is a little sad, but also it is amazing that you have this amazing thing. And I love when she questions, like, you know, when you have all these amazing things but you don't have a plus one, why does that matter more, right than all the amazing things you have?

00:20:14
Speaker 3: Right? I also, I guess I don't really know. I think it's different for everybody. But I also think this is such a big moment in her life that I wouldn't want just a random to like move back, Like I want my friends right arrive with my girlfriends.

00:20:28
Speaker 1: The people who I will like, remember is betwe me how we don't arrive together. It's really interesting. It's really interesting, And I don't know if it was like because back then the idea of like the girl group was not as prevalent, you know, which is partly why we focus on it so much, right, But I also think that when you're doing one of these type events, they send the car for you, like it's it's isolating a little bit, you know what I mean, And we're all coming from our other places, like you would have had to say, hey, everyone come to my house for which seems a little bit like college or something. Yeah, I understand that, Like it's it's a bit like not like us. But also Samantha's gone and like tortured her face, So there's that Well, Samantha.

00:21:11
Speaker 3: Being the publisher should be there waiting for her.

00:21:13
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I know that part was killing me. That part was killing me. I was like, wait, she put this whole party on, and then she got the chemical file and then she just comes as her guest kind of which is weird. And then when they're talking to the guy from the New Yorker, why does Samantha know who that guy is? Like we took a turn there, we take a turn that I think was not possibly super informed. Yeah, do you know what I mean? Yes, Because if Samantha was a good publicist, she would know who that guy.

00:21:43
Speaker 3: Was, right, absolutely, She's like, what on earth? She probably should have been the one that invited him.

00:21:48
Speaker 1: Yes, he invited him and should have been there like tending to him and making sure that Carrie's talking to him and not like it was weird.

00:21:56
Speaker 2: That was a weird scene.

00:21:57
Speaker 3: I thought so too, though I thought it. Yes, I agree, it was a weird scene.

00:22:01
Speaker 2: It was a weird scene.

00:22:02
Speaker 1: And I also feel like, why didn't we help the writers somehow? Do you what? I mean, yeah, understand how that should go. I don't know what happened. I don't know what happened. Drop the ball a little bit there. I would say that that's okay, it's rare. It's rare, but yeah, the whole Samantha thing incredibly but all funny.

00:22:23
Speaker 3: I guess maybe because this is a newer thing. I'm like, wouldn't this doctor have told her and like given her like a full picture of what to expect, and like, hey, your face is gonna look very red for a few days, so don't do this if you have told it coming.

00:22:36
Speaker 2: I will say though that I have had. I have had.

00:22:44
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm so worried now about everything that I ever do. But I do feel in the beginning that people would just be like, oh, yeah, I do this, It'll be fine. Yeah, what I mean like it was kind of the beginning of all of it, right, and it wasn't because everyone reacts so differently.

00:22:58
Speaker 2: But I feel like they didn't seemed to really realize that, do you know what I mean? Yeah, thats me, Like it's fine.

00:23:04
Speaker 1: So and so did it. It was fine, you know, my assistant did it. I remember I went to this one dermatologist in New York who like the whole office here, this is a good story. So this is when cool sculpting is that what it was called, cat had just come out and he was like, you've got.

00:23:20
Speaker 2: To get this cool sculpting. It's amazing.

00:23:23
Speaker 1: Everyone in the office has done it. I did my love handles. Everyone's doing it. It's so great. And I'm like, well, I don't know what part I would do, Like will it work on my thighs?

00:23:32
Speaker 2: And he was like not so much, you know, And I said, well, I feel like my arms are kind of big, goud I do.

00:23:36
Speaker 3: It on my arms.

00:23:37
Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, definitely, definitely could do it on your arms. So I'm like, okay, great, let's do it.

00:23:42
Speaker 1: And So and I mean this is one of those things like I didn't really do my research or anything, right, you know what I mean.

00:23:46
Speaker 2: But he was like everyone's doing it in the office. Everyone's done it.

00:23:49
Speaker 1: So I go and he had this doctor in his practice who was in charge of doing the cool sculpting. Cool sculpting it's called, and it was great because he was an actual MD. He's still my doctor. This guy's name is doctor Adams. I love him very much. I love doctor Adams.

00:24:05
Speaker 2: So I go and he's like, wait, I don't understand what are we doing? And I'm like, my arms, see my arms. I really don't like my arms.

00:24:11
Speaker 1: And he's like, I don't think that the cup is even going to fit on there. I don't think there's enough fat to fit the cup on. This is like ten fifteen years ago, and I'm like.

00:24:20
Speaker 2: Well, just try.

00:24:21
Speaker 1: So he puts this like plastic kind of like gripping cup.

00:24:26
Speaker 2: He's trying to like push.

00:24:28
Speaker 1: It on my arm, and then the machine starts up and it's like and it's kind of like sucking on your arm, and he's he's like taking my pulse and checking on it and my arm turns blue and he's like, I'm sorry, we're stopping right now, and.

00:24:40
Speaker 2: I'm like, thanks, my god, I know.

00:24:43
Speaker 1: And later on this is the one that Linda Evangelista had all the horrible.

00:24:47
Speaker 2: Fide effects from. Wow, I know, which is a rare case.

00:24:50
Speaker 1: I don't need to scare everyone, but like it was just the kind of thing where like I was in the office and he's like, everyone's doing it, it's amazing, and I'm like, okay, let's do my arm. Fat what I'm saying like casual like that. So it didn't that part didn't ring totally false to me for the time.

00:25:07
Speaker 3: Well, who also knows if like Samantha even would have cared or heard that, right, Like Samantha just does what she wants to do, and it's like, oh, something new and exciting that people like, oh no.

00:25:15
Speaker 1: Would have done would have done it before the event. That's the real point, right, But I do feel like too they were just like, oh, this will be great. You look great, Like there are people who go the day of my Dermatile was just telling me in New York that someone had called her on the weekend saying, I have an event Monday night. Can I come see you Monday? And she was like, well, first of all, I'm booked. Second of all, Like, are you sure? I mean, I think there are like little baby things you could do, but like, I don't, I don't know like that, you know what I'm saying.

00:25:42
Speaker 2: I'm super careful obviously. Okay.

00:25:45
Speaker 1: So Miranda has had the baby and she's at work one day, very excited to be at work, which I really loved that little little note. And Walker Lewis, who's Robert John Burke's character, calls her back up.

00:25:59
Speaker 2: He's been traveling.

00:26:00
Speaker 1: He was the great sex she'd had when she was pregnant, but she didn't tell him she was pregnant, so he doesn't know if she'd had a baby. He calls her and he says.

00:26:07
Speaker 2: What's new, and she's like nothing.

00:26:09
Speaker 3: Can I just say?

00:26:10
Speaker 5: Though?

00:26:10
Speaker 3: As soon as he like his voice is so sexy that when he like she's talking to him on the phone, I was like, oh, I kind of get Oh I totally get it. No, I totally get it.

00:26:21
Speaker 2: It's just hysterical. I mean, listen, I'm a single mom. I get it. I get it. I think you're never gonna date again.

00:26:28
Speaker 1: You think it's over, you think you're never gonna have sex again. You think a lot of things, especially with the first one. I mean, someone pursued me after Jemma came to my life, like maybe five months in, and I was just so shocked that someone pursued me that I was like okay, and then I was like, no, this not gonna work.

00:26:47
Speaker 2: This person needs way too much attention. I have a little baby. Oh yeah.

00:26:52
Speaker 1: You know, it's a lot, because it's weird when you're not with the person who you know, you're a single parent. It is strange. So I told get it. I totally get it.

00:27:01
Speaker 2: But it is pretty funny that she somehow thinks she can go.

00:27:04
Speaker 1: Out sex with this guy and Rady, he's not gonna wake up. Like it's so crazy but funny. But you totally can see why she thinks this.

00:27:14
Speaker 3: I know, but I just I love the lunch with the girls when she's telling the girls like she didn't tell him, and she's like, well, if he would have specifically.

00:27:20
Speaker 2: Said have you had a child?

00:27:23
Speaker 3: I would have said define recently, Like I loved that. I know, it's so very funny.

00:27:28
Speaker 2: She's very funny.

00:27:28
Speaker 1: And this is the very kind of like you know, meme worthy Mommy's coming, Mommy's coming.

00:27:36
Speaker 2: And then Walker says, I don't think I can do this. I told you I'm not a baby guy, which is pretty funny.

00:27:42
Speaker 1: But when she goes, Mommy's coming, Mommy's coming, it's pretty funny and weird.

00:27:45
Speaker 3: So good.

00:27:46
Speaker 1: Yeah, But then when she goes and picks them up, it's dreamy.

00:27:50
Speaker 3: It really is. I love this Miranda moment. It's just like the connection and her just like being like it's us now, that's the first time.

00:28:00
Speaker 2: We've seen it.

00:28:01
Speaker 3: Yeah, because the rest of the time.

00:28:03
Speaker 1: She's like I don't know how to carry this thing, this car seat and like a handbag and feeling.

00:28:08
Speaker 3: Left out and like her old life has gone that it was like, I loved this moment.

00:28:13
Speaker 2: It was really good, and.

00:28:14
Speaker 1: It was like a beautifully film, right, and she looks so gorgeous and the baby's so cute, so cute. It's really really good, so good. I mean, there are times when I watch the show and I'm like, everyone's so good. Yes, that was one of those moments.

00:28:43
Speaker 2: Back to the rest of it all.

00:28:44
Speaker 1: So Samantha doing the crazy thing to her face and then acting really funny in that hat, that was pretty funny. I do vaguely remember this, but I hadn't remembered where or when it happened. It's so funny to see Mario running around without me. Yes, wait, what's Mario doing?

00:29:00
Speaker 3: I know, I love that he planned the party, but it was very funny. I was like, is he trying to like he's like everything white, everything.

00:29:08
Speaker 1: What we were supposed to think. I think it was like a misdirect right, But then it's also funny because Willy comes Stanford comes with the boyfriend who we're gonna have on soon.

00:29:18
Speaker 3: Yes, it's gonna be very exciting.

00:29:20
Speaker 2: I talked to Sean, It's gonna be great.

00:29:21
Speaker 1: Sean park Palmer, Sean Palmer, and clearly Willy really wants Mario to be jealous. This is when I think the seed is planted. They end up later on together, you know what I mean, because it's not gonna be okay for Willie if Mario wasn't jealous, right, but sorry, Mario slash Anthony, Anthony.

00:29:41
Speaker 2: Thank you.

00:29:42
Speaker 1: Sometimes I can't remember these big names. He he doesn't care, he's hitting on some waiter.

00:29:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's so funny, he's so him.

00:29:50
Speaker 3: I know, so him.

00:29:52
Speaker 1: And then my storyline, as I told you, guys, I was like, who's that blonde.

00:29:56
Speaker 2: Guy, no idea, I don remember him. I'm sorry, I don't remember that Charlotte.

00:30:03
Speaker 1: Sleeps with him what on earth in her apartment that was Tray's and then Bunny shows up.

00:30:10
Speaker 2: I didn't remember any of this.

00:30:13
Speaker 3: I just the fact that, I mean, it is like crazy mother in law. I guess it's technically her apartment still, but her just waltzing in and horrible, Yeah, horrible, that is that is horrifying, horrifying.

00:30:26
Speaker 2: I felt like I should have reacted bigger.

00:30:31
Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know, it's it's like a tough yeah, I guess in a sense, like you'd be shocked. But at the same time, it's like your mother in law, that your ex mother in law. I guess it's awkward. It's really really hardward. Yeah, I did a good job, and now she just like was like, get like this is you know, kicking her out.

00:30:49
Speaker 1: Yes, it's also funny that we have a little thing across that table. That table's seen a lot of action. It had table in my hallway, you know what I mean, which we still had and just like that, and I was really I was like, thank god, this table here very important. It does get bigger somehow we used to be little and then it got bigger, but we always had it and we always have our white flowers on it. So I was happy to see that. But also I was like, who's that dude?

00:31:11
Speaker 2: I have no idea? And why do I show my side boob? Like oh yeah, I mean what came over me?

00:31:18
Speaker 1: I think it was because Michael Patrick was directing, and he has a way of making you feel comfortable that you can show things or whatever.

00:31:27
Speaker 3: It's such an artistic style too, that it wasn't like, oh, here's a boob shot, like I felt like it was a very artistic shot scanning totally pass and yeah, yeah, I was like, what is happening?

00:31:39
Speaker 1: I don't remember one little bit of this? And who's that guy?

00:31:43
Speaker 2: Who's no idea? No idea? How does Charlotte meet him? We don't know.

00:31:47
Speaker 1: But then it doesn't work out because he's not down with the fact that she's not not divorced.

00:31:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like he was really jarred by Bunny being in there. I guess, so maybe.

00:31:58
Speaker 2: Right right right divorcing thing.

00:32:00
Speaker 1: But then also I like when I'm at the book party with Carrie kind of towards the end and we're talking about how people don't want to admit things, and I say, like, you know, I don't want to say I'm getting divorced. You know, it's a good little moment. It's a good little moment with the two of us. I liked that a lot, and I love the Candace is there. I had fully forgotten this. I know sometimes I see a picture of Candace, Sarah and myself in these outfits, but I didn't know where, when, and where it happened. Yeah, so it places it all better for me. It was super, super fascinating, and I love when we can bring everyone together. And I love that Isaac Msrahi was here. We love Isaac.

00:32:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, we knew Isaac. We love Isaac. Do you remember his documentary?

00:32:40
Speaker 3: I know, Okay there, we're.

00:32:42
Speaker 2: Releasing it and you should definitely watch it. It is so good.

00:32:45
Speaker 1: And it was kind of in the early days where people didn't really know that much about fashion. I feel like with social media, people know a lot more about fashion and what goes into fashion week and what goes you know, from the designer perspective, all the work and all the creativity, and Isaac is super creative and fascinating.

00:33:01
Speaker 3: I love that little cameo that he I know, it's really really.

00:33:04
Speaker 1: Good and I can't remember if we knew him before. I feel like we knew him before this and then just asked him to come be himself. Yeah, because basically she's in a winter basically, and he's himself, you know what I mean. Yeah, which you know obviously I guess. But it was just really fun to see so many people in and around our world, right, Like it was kind of like our world like expanded, you know, like yeah, expanded version, and that's really fun. And I think such a great great Michael Patrick directing, you know, because he pulls it all together so well.

00:33:40
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:33:40
Speaker 3: I actually I know, like you feel like I had a sat under trumpe. I actually really liked this episode. I think there was like a good a lot that there were like really good moments in it.

00:33:48
Speaker 2: I agree, I agree totally.

00:33:49
Speaker 1: I think for me it's like an in between, right, I think it's an in between kind of a thing. And I think it's in between partly because of the pregnancy of it all, right, yeah, because like that was all on all of our minds, right, But I think also just for Carrie, Carrie's single, so it doesn't it's hard.

00:34:06
Speaker 2: Like when I place Carrie.

00:34:07
Speaker 1: If I think about Carrie storylines, it's big aiden Burger Petrovsky.

00:34:13
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.

00:34:13
Speaker 1: I have That's how I so this is like a nomad's land. But that's what they wanted to.

00:34:17
Speaker 2: Do, and we needed that.

00:34:19
Speaker 1: We needed Carrie to not be drawn up in you know, some romance drama, right, just to start to be by herself. But it is interesting that she that it, that it's not enough, you know.

00:34:31
Speaker 2: I like that. I like that she's struggling with that.

00:34:34
Speaker 3: Yeah it is I I like that it's like a big moment in her life and her career and she's like at the top of her career and that she doesn't And it is interesting talking you know, that scene of her at lunch with Inad being like you have it all and she's like.

00:34:49
Speaker 1: That was so that might be so sad, And I think that's why I'm sad. I think that's why I'm sad. I think that's partly why I'm sad, because, like, the the realities of being successful and being alone, it can be hard, right, because like you want to share those big moments, right, but then you don't necessarily know who you're supposed to share it with or you know what I mean.

00:35:14
Speaker 2: It's weird.

00:35:14
Speaker 3: It's weird, yes, but then then it's also as long as like I just love that she wasn't like newly dating somebody that could have been a dramatic moment and taken away from that big I mean, this is true, This is true.

00:35:25
Speaker 1: Do you remember when Mary Beth Brone came on and was like, I want a boyfriend and everyone keep telling me I should want a boyfriend, And I was like, why do you want a boyfriend? Like you're doing, everything's going great. She's like, I just want to go to a party and kiss someone afterwards. And I was like, I totally understand, but also you should just be going to the party and enjoying all of.

00:35:41
Speaker 2: Your the fruits of your labor. You know. But it is I get it both, I guess.

00:35:47
Speaker 1: But it's hard to find the right person to be bringing in those situations. Yes, that's what you're saying, Like you don't want just Joe Schmoe whatever to.

00:35:55
Speaker 3: Come such a big moment and like all your photos and all that, you know, years down the line, you're like, who's that guy or like or something really goes wrong in the relationship and you have a bad taste in your mouths. And then they were like in all your big moments and very smart, very smart. I do like that she was. I get why she's struggling, but I do like the growths growth for carry for sure.

00:36:18
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, she's really important, you know.

00:36:21
Speaker 3: Okay, thank you, of course, this was fun.

00:36:24
Speaker 2: This was fun, really fun.
