BREAKING: U.S. Planes Shot Down, Urgent Search Underway For F-15 Crew Member In Iran
(This is a developing story) First, an F-15 fighter jet was shot down over Iran, and while one of the crew members was rescued, an urgent search for the second is underway. Meantime, a second rescue plane was also struck, but the pilot was able to fly out of Iranian territory and eject safely in Kuwait. Also, several news outlets are reporting two black hawk helicopters were able to safely land after taking fire in search and rescue operations with several crew members injured. All of this as Iran mocks American rhetoric on “regime change” as the desperate search continues for our U.S. service member missing in Iran.

Speaker 1: Hey there, folks.
00:00:10
Speaker 2: It is Friday, April third, and we're hopping on because there was a breaking news and urgent situation going on in Iran right now. US airplanes warplanes have been struck by Iranian fire. At least two have gone down, and as we speak, an urgent search is underway for a missing member of the crew of one of those aircraft in Iran. And with that, welcome to this episode of Amy and TJ, a breaking news episode.
00:00:37
Speaker 1: I need to preface this, Robes.
00:00:38
Speaker 2: We should that we are recording this late afternoon, early evening on Friday Eastern time, so things are developing and things could change. But if you're listening to us at this point, this is a developing story. But we do want you to know, Robes, this is a the situation. The headline details we can get into about the planes, but first and foremost, there is a number American service member somewhere in Iran as we speak, and they are trying to find them.
00:01:06
Speaker 3: Yes, and that is the urgent matter going on right now. We actually waited a bit to come on because we were waiting to see if perhaps that service member could be found, and so far, unfortunately, the search continues The good news is at least one has been rescued. It was pilot, two fighter excuse me, two crew members on that fighter jet. It was an F fifteen fighter jet that was taken down by incoming Iranian fire and one was rescued. The search going on now for that second person aboard that plane.
00:01:41
Speaker 2: And we want to look different stories, different details are coming in from so many different news organizations. We will give attribution whereas proper, but what is being certainly reported right now, widely broadly is understood robes that yes, this plane did go down. Now, the second plane we're going to talk about is one that was there in support of the search and rescue. It was hit, that pilot was able to fly out of Iranian airspace at least eject, and then that plane crash. We understand that pilot is okay, So that is obviously significant in a headline, but at least robes that person seems to be that pilot at least seems to have been recovery.
00:02:22
Speaker 3: Yes, from what we understand, it was a one seater, a ten wart hog attack aircraft. So yes, it was looking for the downplane or at least the crew from that downplane. When it crashed in Kuwait. That is at least the word we're getting right now. So the pilot was able to eject safely, thankfully. And then the remains of that aircraft are in Kuwait, not in Iran.
00:02:46
Speaker 2: And again that again just to let you know, we're not adept at military aircraft, but it's described as an A ten war Hog, which is an aircraft specifically to designed to give ground support or air support to ground troops who are doing precisely what some of them are doing, which are doing search and rescue right now. So that is the second plane that went down. Again, that pilot seems to be okay. The crew member that was I'll go ahead, ropes.
00:03:10
Speaker 4: Qui oh I was gonna say?
00:03:11
Speaker 3: And then ABC News is reporting the two black Hawk helicopters also involved in the search and rescue efforts for that F fifteen fighter jet and the crew were also struck by incoming fire over Iran.
00:03:26
Speaker 4: They say.
00:03:26
Speaker 3: According to ABC News, there were injuries to some of the crew who were aboard those black Hawk helicopters, but the good news is they were able to make it back to the base, so that aircraft and those crew members are safe and they're on the base.
00:03:40
Speaker 2: Okay, very good point to make, and to lump that together and all we're talking about now, of course the black Hall helicopters who were doing the rescue mission. That could have been small arms fire from people on the ground. Maybe we do not know. But in a war that's going on with five weeks, please help me with my math, herobes six weeks now, six weeks and I know, oh, from the messaging we've have been getting for quite some time, the United States owns the airspace. The United States is in control of Iranian airspace. We have severely almost robes to the point we understood that had obliterated their ability to do anti aircraft missiles. They almost eliminated their ability to do what now robes. In a short period of time, we are talking about three different four different military aircraft, two going down, another two being hit.
00:04:36
Speaker 1: So questions are coming up.
00:04:38
Speaker 2: Now, wait a minute, what are they still capable of if we are blowing them back to the stone ages?
00:04:45
Speaker 1: As the President described.
00:04:46
Speaker 3: Babe, if you look and see the events of just the past several hours, the realities of what is going on in the air and on the ground in Iran, fly in the face directly from what the president has said. Just a few days ago, President Trump said and I quote that Tehran had no anti aircraft equipment. If that is the case, how do you explain what has happened in Iran over the past few hours to four separate US military aircraft.
00:05:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't have those answers. Again, we are not We don't understand all the military jargon sometimes and what the capabilities are of Iran. But robes that we should say, at least this is in the western part of the country. I do believe it's kind of a remote area where this has all taken place. So it's pretty remarkable. I will give them gridded Look, I am in awe forget everything, anybody, any political anything. I am in awe of what our military is able to do. Rosees, this is incredibly impressive. Yes, the capability of yes, blowing things up with accuracy, but also robes to be able to get in there and to get these pilots and to this was The capabilities are impressive, period, point blank. Now we are hoping robes, of course they're able to identify to where this other crew member is.
00:06:16
Speaker 1: But robes, this is.
00:06:17
Speaker 2: A big, big, concern. Yes, if Iran gets its hands on a living American serviceman.
00:06:27
Speaker 3: You and I were having this conversation off Mike, just saying, my god, this is worst case scenario. Can you imagine what they would do, how they would use this to their advantage? And I say this, it's a human being. And obviously, given what's at stake and what's happened over the last six weeks to their country, certainly this would be an opportunity for the Iranians and certainly a nightmare for the Americans if for some in some way, shape or form, this crew member was cap should buy Iranian forces or Iranian people, And there is a reward out right now we should talk about that. Iran has taken advantage already. Obviously this makes a lot of sense of the situation, and has already put out a notice to citizens, civilians, to anyone to be on the lookout for this American.
00:07:21
Speaker 2: So you had one regional governor who put out his literally put a dollar amount on it that, according to rewards, is an equivalent of about sixty thousand dollars a bounty to turn over one of these folks. Now, Iranian State TV as well just toll citizens. You need to find these folks. If you find them, you need to hand them over to police. If you have information, you need to let police know. They are all sides right now, Robes, one side search and rescue, other side hunting. It sounds like, but right now, this is everything in this war. Now, what does this mean for moving forward? What does this mean for negotiation? As the President said, nothing at least. He talked to NBC News a little while Robes and I mean, I don't We're in the middle of I would assume we're pretty sensitive and delicate negotiations. And the President says, it's changes nothing at this point.
00:08:10
Speaker 3: He said, it's war. This is war. It changes nothing. This is what happens in war. He didn't seem to have look, and all of this may be very strategic. I'm imagining it is. They don't want to play into the drama or the narrative that we're desperate to get this American crew member back, but.
00:08:30
Speaker 4: Obviously we are.
00:08:31
Speaker 3: But the President is certainly publicly right now playing it cool, and maybe that is a strategy.
00:08:38
Speaker 4: That is a tactic.
00:08:40
Speaker 3: He knows that the Iranians are listening, and certainly the social media aspect of this war has been fascinating to watch, at least the Iranians. You've pointed out several times how a depth they are at, jumping on x when things happen and using it to their advantage.
00:08:55
Speaker 4: Whatever is happening on the ground, they take it on. They take pictures some times.
00:09:00
Speaker 3: That fly in the face of what some of our administration is saying, and.
00:09:03
Speaker 4: They're like, hey, what do you say about these pictures? How about this? How about mem apples?
00:09:08
Speaker 2: You know, Robes is good to mention that because for a little while before we got more confirmation and solid information about the planes actually going down, Iran was putting up video, putting up images of it, and Robes it turns out those images were accurate. Yeah, right, all the back of what we talk about propaganda and this and that. You look at these images, No, what's that? I ran, but I ran, I'm putting this out at the state media. But turns out, yes, they have several images of what looks like all the seat, the ejection seat YEP from the fighter.
00:09:35
Speaker 4: Jet was undeniable.
00:09:37
Speaker 3: It was undeniable, and look I'm looking at look. Everyone is now scrambling to cover this in every way we talked about what we've been hearing from our administration versus what's happening on the ground. We've talked about this in plenty of podcasts, how it has been difficult to discern what's true and what's not.
00:09:55
Speaker 4: Do you want to hear the verbatim of.
00:09:56
Speaker 3: What the President said during his prime time address to the nation on Iran and its capabilities?
00:10:03
Speaker 4: Just when was this? It's Friday now. His address to the nation was Thursday night night. This is what he said.
00:10:12
Speaker 3: I'm going to quote the President and just remember this in the context of what is happening right now.
00:10:18
Speaker 4: We've done all of it.
00:10:20
Speaker 3: Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, Their missiles are just about used up or beaten. They have no anti aircraft equipment, their radar is one hundred percent annihilated. We are unstoppable as a military force.
00:10:37
Speaker 2: That's a problem Robes because he's giving us an impression. He's giving us an impression of what we have done where we are, and it's something like this is impossible. But right now all of us have As an American service member, don't know them, but I love them and I want them to come home. Now we're all on the same team, are we not? So we are rooting at some part of us as the country can come together and be where is our guy? We can come together even against Iran? Right now, give us our guy. We want our guy wanted to be okay, and anything happens to him, we'd be even more pissed at Ran. The problem is, Robes. We stop for a second, say, wait a minute, mister president.
00:11:14
Speaker 3: You told us this couldn't happen, This wasn't possible, This wasn't a concern anymore, because we have obliterated their capabilities to fight back.
00:11:24
Speaker 2: So then the next part of that, then, Robes is Yes, the country, the energy, the mood, the tolerance, the stock market, the gas prices, the oil prices. Wait a minute, you tell us this thing is wrapping up. They don't have capabilities of fighting back. Oh wait a second, they can still shoot down in a matter of hours. You're telling us we got planes going down, we got missing service members, we.
00:11:51
Speaker 4: Got HeLa helicopter romes.
00:11:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, that flies in the face of this thing wrapping up in two or three weeks. That is going to be a problem. This is a developing story, folks, But we need to let you hear what the sides are saying. President Trump has commented on truth Social since all of this has been going on. It is a four word response that you might not believe.
00:12:21
Speaker 1: Will have that for you.
00:12:22
Speaker 2: Also, the speaker of the Iran Parliament spoke as well, and you know what he mocked.
00:12:29
Speaker 1: What's happening right now? Stay here? All right?
00:12:41
Speaker 2: We continue here on Amy and TJ. Want to let you know what the President has said in response. At least we haven't. He hasn't come out and made comments. He gave a short interview to NBC News. We told you about that quote just a second ago in which he said, this doesn't change anything.
00:12:55
Speaker 1: It's war.
00:12:55
Speaker 2: But row he did put something out on truth Social and this happened. I want to get the timing of it right. You'll bear with me. I'm looking at it here as we speak. This came out at three twenty pm Eastern time today.
00:13:12
Speaker 1: What is he talking about?
00:13:13
Speaker 4: So this is disturbing.
00:13:14
Speaker 3: So we've got obviously a missing crew member in Iran, a downed very expensive fighter jet in Iran, Another very expensive military plane downed in Kuwait. Thankfully those two crew members are safe, and we don't know how many injured crew members of.
00:13:31
Speaker 4: Two Blackhawk helicopters. All of this is.
00:13:34
Speaker 3: Going on the president does put this out on true social.
00:13:38
Speaker 2: Now say before you did, well, is there any context I'm missing?
00:13:41
Speaker 1: Like did he.
00:13:43
Speaker 2: Is this in relation to what's currently going on? Or is he is a continuation of some other issue independent of this?
00:13:50
Speaker 4: I really care his head is.
00:13:52
Speaker 3: I can only know what time it is, and I can only put into context what he put out in a true social post in the time where the events that were taking place were taking place, and what we just said happened was happening. When he put out in all caps, keep the oil anyone question.
00:14:11
Speaker 2: Mark, I don't know. I don't know if it's I don't know. I don't know.
00:14:19
Speaker 1: Is he is this now? Goddamn?
00:14:22
Speaker 2: Is he actually using this moment and taking advantage of us and pulling at our heartstrings now because he knows everybody's on his side. I am right now one hundred percent on the side of anything they want to do to go get that guy. That is just how we feel as Americans. You got our guy, Like, forget the politics of anything. I would hate to think in this moment he's tapping into that emotion we might be feeling to push forward an agenda.
00:14:53
Speaker 1: You get what I'm saying.
00:14:55
Speaker 3: I don't even know what I want. Look, I don't know about anyone else who's listening to this. And again, this isn't about Republicans, Democrats, This isn't about politics. This is about a human experience of yes, as a country.
00:15:09
Speaker 4: Yes, like rooting and hoping and praying.
00:15:12
Speaker 3: That whoever is out there who's ejected, hopefully safely from this aircraft is safe and okay and will be found by American search and rescue teams.
00:15:22
Speaker 4: So you're literally on the.
00:15:24
Speaker 3: Edge of your seat praying for this person's survival and safekeeping.
00:15:29
Speaker 4: And the president is talking about oil. I don't know.
00:15:33
Speaker 3: I don't know what his agenda is. I don't know what his strategy is. I don't know if this is about deflection or I don't know. But what I would like to hear from our president is to acknowledge what's happening on the ground and to say, pray for our I don't know if it's our brother or our sister, but acknowledge that the country is waiting and hoping and praying and on the edges of their seats, waiting and hoping that this person who has risked their life for America, who has fulfilled their duty as an American member of the military, who is doing the President's bidding, like.
00:16:13
Speaker 4: To hear yes following orders.
00:16:15
Speaker 3: I would like to hear the President acknowledge the concern that's going on right now, that's happening collectively. I think for a lot of folks who are aware of the situation, it is a Friday.
00:16:27
Speaker 4: I understand, it's a holiday weekend.
00:16:29
Speaker 3: I understand that maybe not everybody is paying attention to this, But for those of us who are, I would like our president to be a leader in that regard and acknowledge where we are right now, how we're feeling right now, and his role in all of this as the leader and personally, like.
00:16:47
Speaker 4: I would like to say, as the person who chose to enter this country into this conflict.
00:16:56
Speaker 1: Oh, this is just a moment.
00:16:58
Speaker 2: Like I said, it's I know Artemis isn't a part of this, but I'm saying there are a few things that bring us together. We were together in that Artemis launch, watching our astronauts. No matter where you are on this war, there's not a single American that's not concerned right now for that person. I want that person to come home, and so right now all that should be put aside for a moment. I get what you're saying about the president. He is not known to be a what a unifier, a united in chief, a consoler in chief. He's not necessarily known to be that. So maybe his tone is continuous and he's consistent, right on brand as we say, and he continues to be on brand. But right now, wherever you are on your weekend, in the middle of your plans, it's a long weekend for a lot of people. This was something that was worth we thought we'd hop on and this is a breaking situation that there will be updates on.
00:17:50
Speaker 4: Well, did you want to say what the parliament speak?
00:17:54
Speaker 1: Really?
00:17:54
Speaker 3: That's so important in the context of what give?
00:17:58
Speaker 2: Please forgive? That is all most one of the most significant and chilling parts of all of this robes. This is an Iranian leader at this point, the head of their parliament. I guess this is just how leaders talk.
00:18:13
Speaker 3: Now ropes look, and I do think this is a way to have some insight into where the Iranians are. We don't know a lot obviously about what's happening within that regime. We hear from our leadership that they're on their third regime change. But what we're hearing from the Trump administration flies in the face of I keep using that phrase, but that has been maybe the theme of this podcast. What we're hearing from the Iranians and after everything that's been going on, we hear from our president keep the oil anyone.
00:18:40
Speaker 4: We hear from Iran from their parliament speaker.
00:18:43
Speaker 3: This this brilliant no strategy war they started has now been downgraded from regime change to hey, can anyone find our pilots please? They're actually making fun of using snarky about this desperate search that is going on, but also taking the opportunity to basically say, uh yeah, mister president, you're telling your people one thing, here's the reality, and you all are looking at it right now.
00:19:15
Speaker 2: Do you remember the times folks would look at some of the things coming out of the Iran and some of the language coming out.
00:19:21
Speaker 1: Of the folks from Iran.
00:19:24
Speaker 2: Some of the language are right mocking the fact that we have somebody down, mocking the fact that we might have an American injured or even killed we don't know, mocking what's happening, and we would look at that and say that's just disgusting, and then robes we put out things left and right and treat bombings and killings like video video games. So I look at this now and I throw my hands up to like we were just it's a.
00:19:49
Speaker 1: Tit for tat.
00:19:50
Speaker 4: You reap what you saw. That's what they say if it's.
00:19:54
Speaker 2: A tit for tat on social media, even the battle field and social media.
00:20:01
Speaker 1: But folks, keep this in mind right now.
00:20:04
Speaker 2: There could be some updates and we'll hop on as they warrant, But this is a really, really serious, significant situation right now to have an American as we speak early evening here on the East Coast, an urgent search is going on right now in Iran for an American, an American service member who was the crew member of an F fifteen that was shot down, and at this point we do not know the fate of that service member. We'll keep an eye on this, folks. We always appreciate you spending time with us. As always, top right corner of your Apple podcast app, where you see our show page, little button says follow click that you can make sure you always get our updates. And as we say, there are a plenty these days. We appreciate you listening to us on TJ on behalf of Amy Robot Talk soon
