The Ransicks have been together for the past twenty years, from a reality show, to multiple shared businesses, to raising a sun together, and now the two have a brand new podcast. But let's go back to where it all began for the Ransicks and what it's like having a relationship in front of the world. We would you say, I know, I'm sure you get this all the time, but to be a celebrity couple, to be in this spotlight, to have had a reality show and now a podcast twenty years together, how would you describe your marriage and how did you how was it from the beginning to where it is now? And I just want to know what it's been like to be in the spot like for two decades.

Speaker 2: We literally met on camera, right, I interviewed Bill. Bill had won the first season at the Apprentice, not the celebrity one like the Apprentice, right, and he was and I watched it every week like a lot of people. Do you guys remember this was back it was the early two thousand two. For all the kids out there. The two huge reality shows that were new on the scene with The Apprentice and Survivor yeap so one was NBC and then CBS was Survivor, and you know, people were just like locked into these shows. It was back in the day when we didn't have a million different things to watch. And I remember like twenty million people a week.

Speaker 3: That was crazy numbers.

Speaker 2: And so I was a new you know, I had just gotten the anchoring job at E News and I was watching it and I remember like it was yesterday. The second Bill came on the screen and he goes, Hi, my name is Bill and I'm from Chicago, and they had like the Chicago Skyland in the back was like this for inter you know, the little interview thing to introduce them. And I was like, oh, my gosh, he's so cute. And I was with my best friend colletteho's still my best friend today, and she goes, oh, he's so your type. And I go, that is so my type. And she goes yeah, she goes, you have to marry him. I go, I do have to marry him. Like this is literally, you know, We're like eating Chinese food watching The Apprentice, and I'm thinking like, yeah, that guy, and so we watched every week. I watched every week, and then when he won, I went up to the assignment desk at you and I was like, hey, you know, I've been studying this show.

Speaker 4: And I think I'd be the perfect person to do the interview.

Speaker 2: Thank you, And I said, I know everything about this show. I know everything about that Bill Ransick guy, I should go do the interview. Cut to uh, did the interview, and then the rest was history and yeah. And meanwhile, the funny thing is people asked like, oh, Bill, were you so like into E News too? He's like, no clue, Like he had never watched it. Could you not have watched you?

Speaker 3: Know, post fifty. I you know now that I have a little more disposable income, but I was poor back in the day Instagram.

Speaker 2: But that was twenty years ago. And so I think that just from day one, we've always had fun. And honestly, I think the biggest thing with us is like, yes, is Bill my husband is the father of our son. But he's my best friend and there is no one I'd rather hang out with than Bill. So I think that to me is probably in terms of our relationship. I think that's what keeps us going, is like we're best friend.

Speaker 2: You know, it's when when you know, you know? I mean, I'm telling you. I just like it was something about him, and then when I met him, he was everything I had expected from watching him every week and so much more.

Speaker 2: The crazy thing is, you guys, the interview is online, like he went years later and dug it up. I'll never forget a few years. But it was my birthday and he did like a little birthday clip and I was like, wait, they and they strung the whole unedited, like they cut a couple of things out, but it was like the unedited version and I'd never even seen it like that, and it was really fun to watch. But we're flirting the whole time.

Speaker 4: So has your son seen it at all? That's so cute.

Speaker 3: I don't know if he's seen that yet. We let him watch the first season of the Apprentice because it's on Amazon now. So he just watched that and his friends are getting into that as he watched the reality show bits and pieces. Yes, he's not.

Speaker 2: He's not into Hollywood into it like it doesn't like impress him, know the reality show, like he's not dying to see it. No, he's not at all.

Speaker 3: Met some pretty cool people. Doesn't even could care less what did he do?

Speaker 3: He's into anything that's expensive. So you name it that if it's if it airplane, you know, you name it. It's it's I get texts say, Dad, we should look at this. I'm like, that's a private jet. Dude. You know that's not happening. We don't happen, Like we're not buying a private jet. Like he no.

Speaker 2: But ill to answer your question. I mean he is very interesting. He's definitely very entrepreneurial. He you know, he always has a business idea. Is always these like glever business ideas.

Speaker 3: He had to use golf ball. We had a house up in Idaho on a golf course once and he we were on the seventeenth green of this golf course and he opened up a used golf ball shop in our backyard and Michael Jordan happened to be playing the golf course that day, and he gave him a hundred dollars bill. And I'm like, I mean, he had like and everyone is a little bit tipsy by the time they get to the seventeenth and so they're just slapping him with twenties and fifties, and I'm like, this isn't this is defeating the purpose. He walks with like five hundred dollars the first day.

Speaker 5: Okay, you had to be proud a little bit.

Speaker 3: Okay, that never happened to me.

Speaker 2: But I got to tell you what was interesting was he would go around early in the morning, like literally the sun would come up, and he would go around the golf course and find used balls and then he would clean them up, you know, himself, and he made a sign and he would just sit all day wait and try to sell two dollars golf and then if they were like a fancy color they were floor us, he would charge more. So he always very entrepreneurial, loves business ideas, but really more than anything, Like Yeah, I think like he came up with a plan for like a new theme park, like he likes to I don't know, architect in him, I don't know. Yeah, he's got a lot of different better because he started playing the piano recently, that's like a new thing for him.

Speaker 1: I'm curious when it comes to we found and look doing a podcast, it evolves, right, but what is it like how much time do you all spend together and how do you all work together as a team when it comes to you entertainment, Like, I know, you guys have business operations, you know how to do some things together. But when you do something editorial together, you're doing something where you're deciding.

Speaker 4: How is that working and has it affected your relationship at all?

Speaker 3: I mean I kind of defer a lot of that to her, you know, I think we I know, when you get out of the way, you know, I think that's I learned that in business early on. You know, I think people who let their ego get in the way, they stunt their growth, you know. So I think that's something that we do well together. We kind of, you know, what I'm good at, she gets out of my way usually, and what she's good at I get out of her way usually. Got to occasionally could be a micro manager, honey, I do though.

Speaker 2: I get out of the way. Like any sort of Bill, We kind of we know each other's strength and so Bill's absolutely right. Anything very business related it's Bill. You know, anything with finances, any of that is Bill.

Speaker 3: Well. I try to bring her in the meetings and she's on Instagram, you know. I'm like better team of you know.

Speaker 2: We'll have these like financial like meetings every once and so on. I'm like just to kind of catch up. And Bill will literally say to me before we go, and he's like, I need you to just stay awake. I'm like, what do you mean, Bill, and.

Speaker 3: Not God's something happens to me. You need to know what's what and who's who, Like you know, it's like you have to.

Speaker 2: I'm like, Bill, but I know you've got it all handled and he goes, yeah, I know, but like just look interested. Keep your eyes open like literally because I'll close and like I'll brew some glasses because I'm like sleeping behind the glasses. But it's funny. Some things just put me to sleep, and that's one I'm not like, you know, I leave that all up to Bill and then all like but then I'm the one like all excited about some new pillow design I've come up with and I want to show Bill and he's like, oh my god, you know so we definitely have like are you guys like that too? Hell?

Even one of our first episodes when we were talking about well, we had our colonoscopy doctor ron to talk about kind of how the podcast came to be, and then that led to all sorts of things. But one thing while I was talking to him and tell me, I know this, tell me if this has ever happened to you guys, or you don't have to tell me, it could be too embarrassing. But all of a sudden, I had this pop up in mind. I'm like, I'm gonna ask him because this has happened to me, and I was just thinking about it. Have you heard about this where like you'll go into like a TJ Max or have you guys ever gone to a TJ.

Speaker 2: So that's why we ended up making a whole episode podcast. I love it always the promoter because people on Instagram had all these theories about it, Like one person was like, is it the smell of the coffee and books at Barnes and Noble, Like, what is No, it's like a real thing. Well guess what he told me? He goes, Yeah, he goes. It's because it's your happy place, you're relaxed. Okay, it's my happy place, you understand me.

That is a thing.

Speaker 3: We did a syndicated talk show for NBC more was before we were married, for NBC and it was out of Chicago. It was called in the Lupadi Village and Angela was one of our producers. She was like my best friend on the show. I loved her and you Coles. We had a lot of fun together.

Speaker 2: Honestly, to be honest, we assumed it was going to be called Juliana and Bill just because that's what everyone refers to us as. And we had our reality show called that, and then it was iHeart. It was Amy and the Gang and iHeart. And they said, you know what, though, it's it's not it's like an evolution of the show. You guys are different now. And I think they were right on. They knew we were going to be different on this show before we knew we were going to be different on the show. And I think it's funny. Everyone who's been on the show or listen to the show tells us they're like, you guys are very different than we expected, like more than more raw than they expected.

We had a house up in Idaho on a golf course once and he we were on the seventeenth green of this golf course and he opened up a used golf ball shop in our backyard and Michael Jordan happened to be playing the golf course that day, and he gave him a hundred dollars bill. And I'm like, I mean, he had like and everyone is a little bit tipsy by the time they get to the seventeenth and so they're just slapping him with twenties and fifties, and I'm like, this isn't this is defeating the purpose. He walks with like five hundred dollars the first day.

So he always very entrepreneurial, loves business ideas, but really more than anything, Like Yeah, I think like he came up with a plan for like a new theme park, like he likes to I don't know, architect in him, I don't know. Yeah, he's got a lot of different better because he started playing the piano recently, that's like a new thing for him.

Everyone who's been on the show or listen to the show tells us they're like, you guys are very different than we expected, like more than more raw than they expected.
