The two announced their split to video and also let their fans know their podcast together would be ending. While it was shocking to hear this power couple was calling it quits, it’s was remarkable to witness how they’re doing it with love, respect and kindness.

Look I understand that everyone we don't know what goes on inside everyone else's relationships, but they were two women who I think a lot of people looked up to and looked too in terms of relationship goals. And so it's always sad when you see a couple that seems like they've got it all figured out that and they shared so much of their relationship with us, we all kind of felt like we were a part of it. So yeah, to hear that they're calling it quits is just it's just really really sad.

Speaker 2: This is one I was trying to think of one that was more prominent as a couple, right we see, Yes, you know jay Z and Beyonce, but you don't see them together all the time or having projects together. These two seem like so much of their life was them being a couple. From their professional ventures. They're always on red carpete together. I could picture them sitting courtside at games. They did a lot. What was the ESPN show they did together? Even right they were doing some commentary. They're just roves that they were. If you saw one, you saw the other. So that's why I felt like this couple felt Yeah.

Speaker 3: Sue and Meghan reminded me of my other favorite podcasting sports adjacent couple, Abby Wanbach and Glennon Doyle, And like you see, those are like two female power couples who have podcasts, who share their relationships and who were all invested in So yes, Sue and Megan were. They were relationship goals. I really feel like that's the best way to put it. Like best friends. They had so many shared experiences. They were both Olympians, they were both at the top of their game in their professional lives and then joining forces together. It just it felt like the perfect I don't want to say ending, but new beginning, because so often you see people who were sports heroes once they end their careers, it's kind of like they just dwindle off and they're a little they don't know what to do. These two women had it figured out, they had their second chapter and it was together. And maybe because we podcast together and work together, maybe I'm more in tune with folks who do that same thing. So yeah, it's just it's sad that they couldn't figure it out or it wasn't working anymore. I know.

Speaker 2: It's something that people often say and remark, well, hope they're kind of amazed that just people are able to spend that much time together as a couple, and some will say that it's to the detriment, like there's no way that's gonna be okay or that's gonna work out. I think we've watched them for so long be so happy at least in our eyes and we kind of forget that it's a relationship just like anybody else's, and that's the truth of the matter.

It's difficult to find bigger icons of American women's sports than these two women. They are legends in their respective sports. Megan Rappino, in particular, robes. She that was the one that helped continue to carry that torch that the nineteen ninety nine World Cup women did.

This was a woman who was a She's a pioneer for sure, but a fighter. So these two women who fought and know how to win. So it's just I just want to say, keep fighting, there's a way through it. What brought you together can keep you together. And I understand we both obviously have gone through a relationship I hate to say cycle, but I understand what can happen and how things can unravel. But it's just sad. I think we all need and we all look to finding examples of people who figured it out through the tough times, through the hard times, through the uncomfortable times, and stuck together. And we need those those couples to I guess, to light the way or to at least inspire us through the tough times. There is you can get to the other side. You can get to the other side. So it's just it's disappointing, you know, and it's I'm sure they're doing what's best for them. And we certainly wish the best for them individuals. Oh, it's just heartbreaking. I mean they even talk about when they put out this video which we'll share with you soon, about their breakup, and they acknowledged that they had given all of their listeners their relationship like this had been a huge through line in their podcast their relationship. And so, yes, people are invested there with you. They feel like they're in the room with you there and it's great they had this I'm sure huge following and this feeling of support. But maybe there's a lot of pressure that comes with that. I mean, we know we deal with that as well, and yes, we have plenty of hiccups behind the scenes. We are I think most like every other couple. We have arguments we have disagreements, we have difficulties.

I think we've even said that about George Clooney and a Mall Clooney, Like, oh, how hard is that when you live on Lake Como and you have everyone paying doing everything for you. That's hard and difficult. Yes, it's easy to fall into that trap, especially when they purport to have no arguments and basically a perfect relationship. But I but it's Look, it's a tough line to walk when you're a public couple because how much do you share it? Because people want to weigh in, They think they know you, they think they get to comment and give you feedback, and that can feel difficult to receive. So yeah, there is a fine line for just about anybody in the public eye who is in a public relationship, and especially when you have Mike's in front of you and you connect with the people who listen to you and watch watch you. But how much do you owe them? That is a question.

After a lot of thought, we've made the decision to separate, as a couple, said, it hasn't been an easy decision, but it's one they made together with much love, respect and care for each other. They went on to, of course, think everybody for their support over the years. But then they put out a video and a lot of people are wondering what happens with this podcast that they've been doing together. I didn't realize the podcast only been around.

And this was probably a long time coming in the sense that they had reached a place where they could could share this together with their fans and be able to be calm and respectful. I'm telling you that may sound like nothing, but that's remarkable in my opinion.

She was the number one overall draft pick in the WNBA, where she played twenty plus seasons with the same team out in Seattle, where she won four championships. The lady or this is legendary stuff. I haven't seen anything out there that suggested along the way they had bumps or had problems or had none of that. Every couple has it, but that kind of stuff didn't surround them, and so in my mind, we're going to see them forever.

Speaker 3: That's why it was show. It was so shocking to hear the news and for folks who are huge podcast listeners. I mean they even talk about when they put out this video which we'll share with you soon, about their breakup, and they acknowledged that they had given all of their listeners their relationship like this had been a huge through line in their podcast their relationship. And so, yes, people are invested there with you. They feel like they're in the room with you there and it's great they had this I'm sure huge following and this feeling of support. But maybe there's a lot of pressure that comes with that. I mean, we know we deal with that as well, and yes, we have plenty of hiccups behind the scenes. We are I think most like every other couple. We have arguments we have disagreements, we have difficulties.

Yes, I mean do we is their value in going along the way? Hopping on here and say all right, Robot and I just had a big blow up and D D D. Because if you see us, for the most part roads when we're out in about, we look at happy as clamps.

And I think a lot of us do that when we look to power couples and we actually even compare their relationships to our relationships and say, wow, how come they've figured it? How come they have it so good? And sometimes you can assign it to beauty, wealth, fame, power. Oh, that's why it's easy for them. I think we've even said that about George Clooney and a Mall Clooney, Like, oh, how hard is that when you live on Lake Como and you have everyone paying doing everything for you. That's hard and difficult. Yes, it's easy to fall into that trap, especially when they purport to have no arguments and basically a perfect relationship. But I but it's Look, it's a tough line to walk when you're a public couple because how much do you share it? Because people want to weigh in, They think they know you, they think they get to comment and give you feedback, and that can feel difficult to receive. So yeah, there is a fine line for just about anybody in the public eye who is in a public relationship, and especially when you have Mike's in front of you and you connect with the people who listen to you and watch watch you. But how much do you owe them? That is a question.

Speaker 2: Oh, oh is such a word. But they did put these statements out yesterday. They did a statement on Instagram first of fall, and then they had a video that they put out. They were going to play a clip of that for you, but they started the announcements. Really no smooth or easy way to share this news. After a lot of thought, we've made the decision to separate, as a couple, said, it hasn't been an easy decision, but it's one they made together with much love, respect and care for each other. They went on to, of course, think everybody for their support over the years. But then they put out a video and a lot of people are wondering what happens with this podcast that they've been doing together. I didn't realize the podcast only been around.

Yeah, you're gonna hear both of their voices in this, but it's a short clip of the two of them. This is that social media clip they put out.

Speaker 5: I guess I just want to say, like I hope you all know, we put a lot of thought and care into this. It's a decision that we made together. We're still going to be there for all of you and for each other. It's just gonna look and feel a little bit different. Having been through breakups myself and very difficult ones break up, Yeah, that's what we'll call that. That's the term forces breakups, whatever the name you want to give it, but the idea you can sit with somebody and be calm and be kind, not have emotion, not be just devastated. And this was probably a long time coming in the sense that they had reached a place where they could could share this together with their fans and be able to be calm and respectful. I'm telling you that may sound like nothing, but that's remarkable in my opinion.

She was a part of it, and she won two national championship of the Yukon. She was the number one overall draft pick in the WNBA, where she played twenty plus seasons with the same team out in Seattle, where she won four championships. The lady or this is legendary stuff. Five Olympic gold medals.

Speaker 2: Podcast, She said, Second Bird's Eye views you very good. They're launching their second season of that, so they're gonna still have their voices and still be out there. I don't know how much they'll partner or do anything in public together robe this is look they are smiling in that video. This hurts like hell behind the scenes. Robes, ten years of a life together, all they've built, all they have on their homes, all their friends, all their family robes. We know this hurts behind the scenes. So I haven't seen a lot of comments or anything out there, but I can't imagine anything other than just pain. And folks are just sending love to these two.

Speaker 3: Yeah, this is this is a tough time, but I was so impressed with the brave face that they both put on and just it seemed as though there was still there was still love and respect there, and that I think makes it more like painful for people watching, because you start thinking, like, if there's love and respect, why can't you guys figure it out? But they know what's best and they know what's happened between them that we don't know, and we'll never know, and we shouldn't know. That's a private thing. And I just was super impressed on how they handle this as painful it is as it is to watch. They did it as as well as you can.

Yes, it's not one person. It takes two people. And so it was so wonderful to see two women who were splitting up and they just did it honestly beautifully.
