The Thinking Rider’s Podcast
Lots of podcasts, videos and books attempt to provide a step by step guide to success to with your horse. The problem is that horses (and people) are unique individuals. The step by step guides often result in tension, refusal and failure. Karen’s new podcast and her books and videos are different. She helps you build a trusting, confident relationship with your horse. She encourages experimentation to find the right answer for you and your horse. Most important, Karen gives you the knowledge to be aware of what your horse is offering you so that you can reward it and build upon it. If you’re looking for a five-step guide, this podcast may not be for you. If you’re willing to embark on a journey to build a relationship with your horse, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve in harmony with your partner.
Fostering Partnership
The longer I’ve had horses the more I keep coming back to that childhood dream of having a horse that will run up to me when I call, let me leap on their back anytime and will go wherever I need them to. As an adult I thought I had to give that dream up for a more “realistic” relationship that involved “taking charge”. Since I signed for Karen’s online programs I can now see that the childhood dream is possible. Karen’s focus on building partnership, even in the demanding and precise riding style of dressage, gives me the tools and the psychology that I need to work on myself and become a wiser and kinder partner for my horses. Her podcast gives the listener a picture of what they can achieve while giving the knowledge of how to make it happen. Not a step by step, more like an understanding of what to look for. 5 stars!
Super good podcast!
I love that Karen is doing these great podcasts. Perfect for listening to while driving. I get a new bit ingrained in my brain each time I listen!
Yes! This is needed!
If you have been following Karen for years like myself or new to horses in general, this pod cast is a must! She is amazing and her words of wisdom and training tips! Make your horsemanship complete by listening, expanding into her classroom, and learning more from her books and teachings (maybe with a different perspective). You will not be disappointed!
A Humble Genius
Karen is both a deep thinker and a practical adviser. She has developed a methodology based on small do-able pieces which come together to create big improvements. All while being kind and encouraging to both horse and human.
Awesome Listen
I really enjoy this podcast. Each episode stems from fact-based, horse-first knowledge and offers practical applications. After listening to Karen I am always motivated to go out and try new things and to have fun with my horse. Grateful that she has decided to share her knowledge in this way!
Clear and simple, as always
I love this topic because I struggle with letting go of the images in my head, of what I think things should look like. I find that listening to it broken down into bite size pieces is a very good approach, and helps me not be so OCD with my horses. I tend to micromanage. This was a great reminder and instruction on how to avoid the trap of perfectionism that I, often, fall into. Ride the moment, and love it!
Horse training in Harmony
I’ve had the great privilege to clinic with Karen in person, and have been following her work for many years. She is always kind and in tune to the needs of both horse and handler and gives clear, understandable guidance that yields harmonious results. When I picture the partnership and postures I would like in my horse journey, Karen and her horses always come first to my mind. Her online offerings are excellent, and there is feedback and support from her team, and other like minded students. Five stars aren’t enough!
Motivational and inspirational!
Karen has such a validating and unique way of helping us connect and partner with our horses. It makes so much sense and it amazes me why this process is not the norm in today’s horsemanship. When I apply her principles, I feel calm, yet focused and purposeful...My horses respond willingly and playfully. I wish I had found her 20 years ago! Thank you,Karen, for these Podcasts!!

I’m so very excited to have you in my ears weekly. Inspiring and important
Karen discusses our relationship with the horse in such a beautiful yet accessible way. As an equine professional constantly trying to find a balance between sustainable business and empathetic horsemanship, I found these conversations to be a breath of fresh air... the first episode in particular should be recommended listening for students and coaches at all levels. <3
My new favorite podcast
Though this podcast is about horse training, it is also about how to become a kind, open, responsive and sensitive person with a generous heart. She always brings it back to us, who we are and who we want to be. The result is a happy, enthusiastic horse. It’s almost as if Karen uses her incredible expertise with horses to offer healing for our own rough edges. This podcast is interesting, informative and inspiring to listen to.
Compassionate & Wise View of Horse Training
If you love horses and horseback riding, you’ll benefit from this podcast even if dressage is not your discipline of choice. Karen’s perspective is thoughtful, well articulated, and grounded in compassion for horses and her positive outlook on life as well as years of training and study. She is the voice I want in my head as I head out to train my horses!
We need more voices like this in the horse world!
Karen always has such a lovelyWay of talking about horses and riders her approach always seems to come from a place of love and kindness and even though my training method is slightly different and I always find wisdom in what she says!
Thank you!
What a wonderful resource to help us continue to improve ourselves and our relationships with our equine partners.
Speaking to me!
Somewhere along the line, my horse and I got off track and what Karen was talking about spoke to my soul. I am looking forward to listening to more podcasts from her!
Love the positive mindset in training our horses!
Having a positive mindset and being "our best self" is so critical to achieving what we want to in partnership with our horses. I absolutely love this podcase series! Thank you, Karen.
Inspirational!
I’ve been following Karen Rohlf for a while and was very excited to hear of her new podcast as I’m a podcast junkie! She combines dressage with natural horsemanship to get that ultimate goal of partnership enjoyed by both horse and rider I’ve found this podcast to be very inspirational. Karen mentions in the podcast that she took some courses from Tony Robbins and has a photo of herself with him on her desk. That’s one very inspirational man and certainly portends great things from a protege of his. I am looking forward to listening to future episodes of Horse Training in Harmony and working towards my own perfect partnership with my OTTB mare!
Love it
I really enjoy following Karen and listening to her podcasts. As a life-long dressage rider, I particularly love her “natural horsemanship” approach and be challenged in my views. Looking forward to more of her podcasts!
