Listener Reviews

Really interesting!
The host, and creator of the show always introduces you to a topic that will make you a more well-rounded person. Really good!
Hidden Brain
I love this podcast. It’s pure heaven for me. I can’t wait til Monday when the newest episode is released. So many interesting topics. I have yet to listen to an episode that I didn’t find very interesting. He’s an amazing podcaster. Hidden Brain genuinely makes my life better !
Great contents - thank you
I have started listening to Hidden Brain recently and so impressed with Shankar and the guests on his show.I am now a subscriber! Quality program needs our support. To the listeners who want everything for FREE…
Practical Wisdom and Shocking Common Sense
I always enjoy, and benefit from, the tone and content offered up by the Hidden Brain podcast. I get glimmers of encouragement during these bleak and divisive times by episodes such as the recent “Win Hearts, Then Minds.” I felt challenged to pry loose from settled convictions about the oppositional “other” by seeing him/her/them as essentially human—even when our world views collide. Again, I highly recommend this little dose of weekly sanity.
Win Hearts Win Minds
The large majority of Black women do not suffer from the issues discussed on that episode bc we are trained and groomed to see the world and every interaction from another’s perspective to survive in our home, work and public spaces.
Great Show
Favorite listen on the way to the pool. Bi am a swimmer like Shankar…
Great insights with opportunities to learn
One of the best podcasts which I willingly play with anyone in the car. Everyone gets something for themselves!
ai art title cards
please don’t use ai generated art for your title cards!! just leaving it a plain solid color would be better, it really degrades your brand image and reputation as creators.
Great Show and Excellent Host
This is an intelligent, thoughtful, excellently done show. Shankar Vendantam has a great voice and cadence, and he brings the material to life. This is one of my favorites.
EXCELLENT, INFORMATIVE, WELL STRUCTURED PODCAST
I have learned so much from every episode. The host is great, knowledgeable, and pleasant to hear. Amazing guests. Academics talking about their research in an informative way. Congratulations for creating this truly AMAZING podcast.

I used to listen to HB in my car back few years ago while listening to Colorado public radio. Such a wonderful show. Thank you again for sharing your wisdom.
My absolute favorite podcast
This podcast is number one in my book, and I listen to a lot of them. Every topic is engaging and interesting. I've learned a LOT about psychology and human behavior.
Delightfully good!
I saw Plato in the title, and had to test it. What a delight! The series is so artfully told, with compelling stories and interesting interviews. It’s become my favorite podcast. It’s accessible and answers many essential questions we all ask.
Should be required in school! Amazing Host!
Psych nerd? Want to make sense of how ridiculous humans are? Want to be a better you? (Or happy with who you currently are?) Better society? This is a must listen! Relatable, intriguing and meaningful science-based discussion of human behavior and what that means for individuals and society. Shankar Vedantam, the host, translates his already user friendly expert guests so eloquently that for me-he is the real star of every show. He’s too humble to take this compliment. He loves science while clearly being deeply compassionate and wanting the best for humankind. He’s humble and never pedantic, but his insights will stay with you for weeks or a lifetime. If you like Alan Alda’s humanistic approach, you’ll love Shankar. I turn this on when I’m stressed about the world or just curious. This is NOT self-help unless you want it to be. It’s not business productivity or motivational hacks-unless that’s how you choose to use it. It’s not spiritual- but it can be. Overall, I think it makes us more understanding and forgiving of the nonsense of the human animal- while giving us hope that we have the power to change. Shankar- you are making the world a better place! Don’t look back on leaving engineering. I wish we could hang out and talk psych and the meaning of life!!
Imperative
Make this free! this information is needed. This information is power. informative and paradigm shifting.
WOW
I just finished listening to the episode about Justin and his mom Melody. I connected with that on so many levels. First, I am a mom of a son. He always writes in his cards to me “You and I against the world “!! His dad, my late husband passed when my son was 32. Yes, he was a full grown man, but my husband’s death changed both of us. We were always close. I didn’t believe that mother/son bond could get much stronger. But it did. I would jump at the chance to connect with my husband AND my own mother who passed in 2020. To Justin: how proud your mother is of you. I use the present tense because, you feel her with you. And really, that’s all that matters! Sending hugs! On a side note: you’re right Justin. Grief never makes you feel better. It’s just a spiraling 🌀 circle that hits at unexpected times. God speed!
My favorite podcast right now
You can tell how that the host is very very smart and puts a lot of efforts in his questions, the flow of the episode is smooth and very organized, the topics are very interesting and I actually walk away learning something
Thought provoking
Hidden Brain episodes are always fascinating and thought provoking. I come away reflecting on why I think about a topic the way I do and how much I believe to be true is in actually factual. Beautifully presented! I’m a subscriber to Hidden Brain+ and enjoy it enormously.
Outstanding podcast in every way
I have never bothered to leave a review for ANY podcast in my 10 years of listening to them, not even podcasts I listen to daily. But the latest episode of Hidden Brain “What Would Socrates Do?” has cracked me open (in the best way).Hidden Brain is the rare podcast that provides so much value to its listeners and at no cost! It’s almost impossible to find a podcast where every episode is thought-provoking, delightful, surprising, and educational. I don’t put Hidden Brain on to learn things, but I never come away not learning something fundamental that I can apply in my life directly.I applaud the whole team at Hidden Brain for their amazing spirit of inquiry, Shankar’s carefully considered questions, and the gift you’re all providing for the rest of us. Please never stop making Hidden Brain. I’m a fan for life.
Absolutely fascinating
This show is so fascinating. This show reveals so much about the unconscious stuff we all do as humans. It is not just something that perks my curiosity but also helps me be more aware of my own thoughts and behaviors that should be paid attention to that often go unnoticed.
Long time listener & forever listener!
Each episode is interesting and well thought-out. The episodes are diverse - I’m amazed how Shankar continues to come up with fresh topics. I appreciate the paradigm shift and thoughts provoked by listening to this excellent podcast!
Listen to many of these shows twice
Kudos to Shankar Vendantam and his team for the consistency of interesting topics and timely research. Just about every show is thought-provoking, and the ones I may not initially be interested in still deliver value. I have loved this show for awhile, and now subscribe.
Every Episode helps me!
This is such a valuable podcast! The topics are relevant, the learnings immediately applicable and guide growth through intelligent well researched guests.
Always helpful
Love this podcast. The disrupting death episode was bizarre/creepy. I grew up in an enmeshed and codependent home and have spent 3 decades overcoming the damage it did. Listening to the episode was triggering and I couldn’t help but think how completely unhealthy and enmeshed the relationship was between Justin and his mother was.
