I always enjoy, and benefit from, the tone and content offered up by the Hidden Brain podcast. I get glimmers of encouragement during these bleak and divisive times by episodes such as the recent “Win Hearts, Then Minds.” I felt challenged to pry loose from settled convictions about the oppositional “other” by seeing him/her/them as essentially human—even when our world views collide. Again, I highly recommend this little dose of weekly sanity.

The large majority of Black women do not suffer from the issues discussed on that episode bc we are trained and groomed to see the world and every interaction from another’s perspective to survive in our home, work and public spaces.

Favorite listen on the way to the pool. Bi am a swimmer like Shankar…

This is an intelligent, thoughtful, excellently done show. Shankar Vendantam has a great voice and cadence, and he brings the material to life. This is one of my favorites.

This podcast is number one in my book, and I listen to a lot of them. Every topic is engaging and interesting. I've learned a LOT about psychology and human behavior.

I saw Plato in the title, and had to test it. What a delight! The series is so artfully told, with compelling stories and interesting interviews. It’s become my favorite podcast. It’s accessible and answers many essential questions we all ask.

Psych nerd? Want to make sense of how ridiculous humans are? Want to be a better you? (Or happy with who you currently are?) Better society? This is a must listen! Relatable, intriguing and meaningful science-based discussion of human behavior and what that means for individuals and society. Shankar Vedantam, the host, translates his already user friendly expert guests so eloquently that for me-he is the real star of every show. He’s too humble to take this compliment. He loves science while clearly being deeply compassionate and wanting the best for humankind. He’s humble and never pedantic, but his insights will stay with you for weeks or a lifetime. If you like Alan Alda’s humanistic approach, you’ll love Shankar. I turn this on when I’m stressed about the world or just curious. This is NOT self-help unless you want it to be. It’s not business productivity or motivational hacks-unless that’s how you choose to use it. It’s not spiritual- but it can be. Overall, I think it makes us more understanding and forgiving of the nonsense of the human animal- while giving us hope that we have the power to change. Shankar- you are making the world a better place! Don’t look back on leaving engineering. I wish we could hang out and talk psych and the meaning of life!!
