The most thought-provoking and interesting podcast
For someone with a B.A. in psychology, but not working in the psychology field, this is so great a resource to keep learning and thinking about interesting topics. Been listening for years. Thank you Shankar and team!!!
Informative and Engaging
If you’re interested in the the answer for “why does that happen?” then you’ll like this podcast.
During a 3 hour drive , I introduced my husband to a deeper way of thinking
My husband is not a therapy kind of guy. He has had a 15 year career in public works. These jobs contain “ Lifers”. People who hate their jobs or sometimes love their jobs , but the point is - they are all in it for LIFE . The job defines them as a person. The amount of paranoia, and un expected political drama , was something my husband did not understand, or sign up for. I tried to explain how complicated situations can be with people and political issues in the work place, from my time working in Hollywood The episode explaining schadenfreude and how the lack of professional challenges and lack of work metric accountability had bread a perfect disaster in employee morale. He was experiencing a number of unprovoked confrontations and bullying by ostracizing. My husband was excited about the work he was tasked to do: To transfer the water treatment plant into a predictive maintenance model , rather than reactive to failure. That concept sounds amazing! But to those guys who came in and saved the day on triple over time and stopped the disaster, and kept the plant going time after time? They would have none of predictive maintenance.
My favorite podcast
I listen to this podcast every day. I listen to some episodes more than once! Very interesting and very well-oriented talks. No bias and I like the neutral opinion on so many debatable topics. I most appreciated the scientific and well-studied core for all talks. engages my mind and makes me think about the topic so many times! Thank you!!!!
Mind Altering
Every time I listen I become aware of some other facet of being Human, of how knowing more shifts my perceptions of others… And of myself. There is almost always a small epiphany that jolts me into acknowledging something within me, some way of dealing with the people around me in, sometimes substantially, different ways by having a clearer understanding of motivation - Theirs and mine.
Interesting and Informative
Relatable, thought provoking podcast. Look forward to it every week.
Great
Very thoughtful podcast with an excellent production team. I really enjoy listening, but unfortunately it repeats a lot. I'd rather have nothing posted at all than turn on what I believe is something new only to find it's a repeat.
Informative and fun
I’ve been working my way thru the podcasts starting with the earliest. Lots of good information and always leaves me thinking.
All
I always look forward to the new episodes, so much good information, thank you.
Thank you! ❤️
Your podcast is hard to listen to as I have been a heath care worker during this pandemic. Don’t get me wrong. If Roy Kent were here he would give a great fu$&ck! I remember when you started this podcast and haven’t listened since those 15 minute sound bytes. What you are doing is gaming changing. Thank you!! ❤️
My favorite podcast!
I love listening to this. Never have I been able to stop midway without continuing to think about what’s being said in the podcast.
My favorite podcast
Hidden Brain is my favorite podcast! I find myself relating to each podcast no matter the subject. I enjoy Shankar’s interview style and his voice. Hidden Brain is the podcast I go to sleep to almost every night, and then re-listen to in the morning.
So many nuggets
An episode doesn’t go by without me taking away golden nuggets to reflect on. The episodes are very good quality and interesting!
Hidden Brain is one of my favorite podcasts!
This podcast never fails to deliver engaging, innovative and relevant insights that help broaden my perspectives, empathy and self-improvement. I highly recommend it to curious listeners.
Unbelievable How Complex and Simple It Is
I really enjoy this show. I think the host and his team try hard to find fresh topics and also implement what they learn, and, in that way, inspire.
Riveting Topics Presented Beautifully
I am thrilled that I can listen to these presentations whenever I want to. I loved hearing them on NPR Sunday mornings. So many interesting topics explained in colorful and touching ways! Now I have them all at my fingertips. Excellent research and relatable subjects!
I can’t get enough!
I LOVE hidden brain. It’s an educational podcast that doesn’t get boring at any point in time. The host is just great at his job. Episodes are so greatly laid out. And each has different topics. I listen to this for hours and learn so much. Will be recommending to family members and friends. 😊
Sets the bar
This show features engaging conversations with great guests. Together with guests, host Shankar explores everyday and unique aspects of our amazing brains. He truly sets the bar for excellent interviews. He is likable, efficient and intelligent with a good amount of humor.
It’s hard to overstate how excellent this podcast is!
Shankar delves into fascinating topics with exquisite journalistic skill. I am so appreciative of the insights I always receive from listening to this podcast.
Well researched and presented!
An excellent show. Thank you for this podcast! Wish they could all be this fantastic. And I don't hand out superlatives unless earned.
I learn so much!!
Your latest show “change behavior not belief”comes at a great time for me. I am reading 1619 and while I don’t completely agree with some of the conclusions drawn by the authors, the history (some of which is new to me) is truly disturbing. It is refreshing to consider that the impossible tasks of changing the heart is not absolutely required for peaceful coexistence. I have to confess my glass is almost always half full, and my hope is that changing behavior can lead to peaceful coexistence, and ultimately a change (may “growth” sort of like the Grinch 🥰) in heart/belief.
Love Hidden Brain!
Great show.
Favorite podcast of all time
This is the best segment of my local NPR station. I find myself waiting in my car to finish hearing an episode. All episodes are eye-opening and uplifting. I look forward to hearing “This is Hidden Brain, I’m Shankar Vedantam” like I look forward to the jazz intro by Jean Batiste in the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Shankar and Stephen actually share many traits; they’re tactful while sharp, graceful and witty. You’ll be hooked.
Amazing
These episodes are so interesting! I feel like I learn so much about myself and the people around me and how to be a better human. Also the host seems so genuine which is always a plus!
