Stumbled across and glad I did
Great content, great information. Very informative and unique. Really enjoying this very much.
Great information for everyone!
I listened to this as I was running errands and went back to it later. Great information! So many times, women, peoples of color, and folks who are from “the wrong side of the tracks” often exhibit imposter syndrome. There are so many amazing people from so many backgrounds, who feel like imposters. We can all find something to help here. This amazing show was for everyone who struggled with this issue.
Sometimes Informative, Sometimes Overstates Obvious
Usually I find the show interesting, but some topics are long examinations belaboring the obvious. The “Crying Wolf” episode on “virtuous victims” could’ve been summed up in one common sense sentence: conmen come in all shapes and sizes.
Clearly not for people of my persuasion.
I listened to the imposter phenomenon and it was very clear that it’s specifically geared toward BIPOC. Fantastic information, I felt a bit like I had no business listening. I’m sorry I intruded into an area where I’m not supposed to be.
Nice show
I learn a lot!
Outstanding
I subscribe to quite a few podcasts, so many that I don’t have time to listen to all of them. But this one is always at or near the top in my selections. I agree with others that it’s great bedtime listening, but not just for the host’s soothing voice (which I originally found irritating, but have come to like). The content is often uplifting, such as recent guidance on how to achieve happiness or persuade others. Shankar Vedantam picks great topics and interviews people who are doing interesting research on those topics, asking questions that make their work intelligible to anyone, not just other academics.
The very best!
I frequently share these podcasts with my staff and my colleagues on our leadership team. Phenomenal!
Great Podcast to Fall Asleep
Shankar Vedantam has a soothing voice and I enjoy this podcast quite a bit when trying to free my mind at night. The stories are interesting and helpful. A+ content
Best Podcast!
I never leave a podcast without feeling I’ve gained a deeper insight into the human condition and feeling like I’ve gained a couple of extra IQ points. Shankar is exceptional!!!
Informative and delightful
Shankar is a national treasure
Learning
Definitely I have been learning way more about our American History, our society, beliefs. I also love your last name, very fitting for your podcast indeed:)
Jam
Love this show. Keep it going.
Great Stuff!!
In a world full of advice-telling and “do this” podcasts, Hidden Brain does an awesome job of breaking down our wacky selves in a way that allows us to think for ourselves via easy to relate to situations and stories. THANK YOU!!
Great Podcast!
Big fan of this Podcast. Great topics and content.
Crying Wolf?
This was an interesting topic, as usual, but I was unable to listen because of the voice of the person interviewed- the woman doing the experiment. Her uneven delivery - reasonable but loud tones tones alternating with loud shrieks - made the listening quite unpleasant.
Good podcast, great content!
Recently discovered the Hidden Brain podcast and am really enjoying it! Appreciated the candid conversation with Niro Sivanathan about how Less is More, how to gain buy-in and how to make better arguments. Learned so much. Many helpful takeaways and can't wait to listen to more episodes! Thank you!
Cry Wolf - opposite No Compassion
What about when you’re not lying but nobody believes you, they have no compassion for you and in fact they want you to be punished for lying. Great show
Hidden Exploit
I keep trying to play this podcast but every time I can’t continue very soon after as it is often telling the tale of how a person “who was good at all the other subjects in high school but not good at French “ was able to overcome “life’s obstacles “ and become successful after all. I don’t know for certain because I’m just a laborer but it seems to serve some sort of bias that is directed at its perceived audience’s demographics - in a manner identical to that of FOX News! … You know I nailed it! contemporary Media caters to its audience as it depends on revenue otherwise it would not be able to exist or continue to exist.
Hidden Brain
Hidden Brain combines fascinating science with humane values. These podcasts inform and increase empathy. Some of the best listening now available. Thank you, Shankar.
Love this podcast immensely, but…
The bicycle thief meets Les miserables. Am I the only one who was not duped by the steal a $400 bike to afford a $100k house episode? Far too easy to invent a sob story with pure 20/20 hindsight. Donovan, come forward and admit you were in it just for the thrill, and would have done it again if not caught, or just too lazy to flip burgers for 1 week, to afford “the house” and I will be the first to forgive you. Because Jean Valjean you are not.
Best Podcast Ever
I listen to several podcasts, and this one always goes first in line when it’s released. I find it to be the most interesting. Shankar is a master at interviewing, I love his voice, and I enjoy the way the stories unfold. I agree with folks who say there should be a pay option to get rid of ads. The ads are terrible— I hate all ads, honestly. I’d definitely pay a few bucks to get rid of them. I’m a liberal, so I don’t even notice the politics that some of the conservatives are complaining about with this podcast. In my opinion, it’s just intelligent to be anti-racist, have awareness of class discrimination, be trauma aware, etc. So when I hear opinions that echo the left, it just increases my confidence in the intelligence of the show. Thanks for making quality content again and again! You all at Hidden Brain are MY unsung heroes!
Thoughtful and thought provoking
Shankar Vedanta’s ability to go deep in issues in less than an hour makes Hidden Brain a truly valuable experience in my life. If the topic seems to be of little interest to me at the beginning, by the end I find myself moved and enfiched.
Faithful, Gentle, informative Companion on My daily Walk
I love everything about this show from the interesting topics to the well spoken and well chosen guests. Most of all I appreciate Shankar’s gentle and inquisitive way of drawing out information and making a point. This podcast hits all the high notes for me. Good and reliable content presented in a way that is respectful of the presenters and the listener. When I need a break from the overly hyped and too loud constant noise of most media, I turn here. It’s like a cup of hot tea on a cold day- restorative and comforting. Thank you for producing such a reliably excellent podcast.
Fascinated with human behavior
This is the most interesting show! I love learning about the research into human behavior. Why do people do what they do and what is motivating them. This show gives me the science in a way that I can understand it.
