Listener Reviews

Grateful for your podcast
Thank you for offering so many insights and perspectives on so many interesting topics. I’ve learned a great deal from listening to you for years and look forward each week to another eye and mind-opening episode.
Best show ever
I’ve been listening to hidden brain for years and I’ll never stop! It’s my all time favorite show.
Marshmallow episode
This really made me think about weight loss and internal voices. If you think that you will clamp down and beat yourself up for eating the thing then you might be more likely to overeat…. Super fascinating about scarcity impacts on delayed gratification. I would love to hear more about this.
Used to listen every day
I used to listen every day on my 4-mile morning walk but I’m retired now and cannot afford to pay for podcasts.
Amazing
My favorite podcast .. I love the choice of topics that everyone can relate it.. the approach to the subjects which is quite deep and relevant .. so unique from many other podcast that are positivity inspiring .. Shankar you are amazing and your voice is quite comforting and calm
Exceptional!
I listen to and share many of the Hidden Brain podcasts. They are so insightful and interesting. I just have one complaint and it isn’t about the program, but rather about a subject I’ve been listening to on the podcast: the Harvard Implicit Bias Tests. I’ve only taken one. I’ve not had the desire to take another because the one I took forced me to be biased one way or the other. I found myself simply skipping questions because there were no answers I agreed with. The choices were “men” or “women” when I felt there should be “both” and “neither” options as well. I came away with a no bias result but felt the test (at least the one I took) was fundamentally flawed. Thank you for all you give to us. Shankar has such a brilliant way of bringing the ideas into focus making them easier to understand and relate to our own life’s experiences.
Interesting listen
The topics discussed in this podcast are interesting
Truly the best!
I am a big fan of all that you guys do. Love how you have the special shout out at the end. Incredibly creative work and I thought your interviews with Ali Crum were exceptional.
Great interesting ideas - love it!
I never miss this show, so I got a subscription; now there is Hidden Brain Plus - how do it switch my subscription to Plus??
Can we get the ads out of the middle?
This show is too important to have ads crammed into the middle of the story.
Great show
Very enjoyable!
Fantastic
Excellent, well-researched, helpful, engaging information on a variety of topics. My favorite podcast.
$43??
I love this podcast and look forward to new episodes every week, but $5 a month/$43 a year is pretty steep for a weekly podcast. So much for public radio.
Interesting but…
The topics and specialists are very interesting, but your speakers are overwhelmingly male. I know there are female specialists, researchers, scholars, and scientists out there and you are missing those stories and perspectives. Please make an effort for an equal number of those voices on your show.
You will enjoy these
Amazing content ! I love listening to you
Stumbled across and glad I did
Great content, great information. Very informative and unique. Really enjoying this very much.
Great information for everyone!
I listened to this as I was running errands and went back to it later. Great information! So many times, women, peoples of color, and folks who are from “the wrong side of the tracks” often exhibit imposter syndrome. There are so many amazing people from so many backgrounds, who feel like imposters. We can all find something to help here. This amazing show was for everyone who struggled with this issue.
Sometimes Informative, Sometimes Overstates Obvious
Usually I find the show interesting, but some topics are long examinations belaboring the obvious. The “Crying Wolf” episode on “virtuous victims” could’ve been summed up in one common sense sentence: conmen come in all shapes and sizes.
Clearly not for people of my persuasion.
I listened to the imposter phenomenon and it was very clear that it’s specifically geared toward BIPOC. Fantastic information, I felt a bit like I had no business listening. I’m sorry I intruded into an area where I’m not supposed to be.
Nice show
I learn a lot!
Outstanding
I subscribe to quite a few podcasts, so many that I don’t have time to listen to all of them. But this one is always at or near the top in my selections. I agree with others that it’s great bedtime listening, but not just for the host’s soothing voice (which I originally found irritating, but have come to like). The content is often uplifting, such as recent guidance on how to achieve happiness or persuade others. Shankar Vedantam picks great topics and interviews people who are doing interesting research on those topics, asking questions that make their work intelligible to anyone, not just other academics.
The very best!
I frequently share these podcasts with my staff and my colleagues on our leadership team. Phenomenal!
Great Podcast to Fall Asleep
Shankar Vedantam has a soothing voice and I enjoy this podcast quite a bit when trying to free my mind at night. The stories are interesting and helpful. A+ content
Best Podcast!
I never leave a podcast without feeling I’ve gained a deeper insight into the human condition and feeling like I’ve gained a couple of extra IQ points. Shankar is exceptional!!!
