03 I've been doing checks that Oh my god, what it's our anniversary? I figured, I toast can you? Oh my god, well done, and good luck with you after you're done with that drink. Well, little side trigets water because I ran out of vodka. You have a surprise for us that I was really unaware of. What is the news? It is that today is our one year anniversary of the Don and Gary doing sixty podcasts. Oh my gosh, that's amazing. I just randomly looked at our calendar and I keep track of all of our episodes, and I look back and on the twenty ninth of July of twenty twenty four, you sent out a promo letting people know. And on the thirty first of July, which is today, a year ago today, the first episode went out.

56 Wow, so here's to you, Don oh today. Thank you. Let me have water though for a change, it's a water martini, and who doesn't like a big drink exactly? So congratulations to us. Yeah, so I thought it, you know, be fun to just kind of commemorate it. Yeah, And you had mentioned the title where did it come from? Yeah? So basically the title of our segment, our favorite segment, ain't nobody got time for that? Yes, so I thought it might be nice for you. To share that story about where you got that inspiration. That saying was made famous by a woman who is interviewed on the note news. I don't know what town was a local town where there was a fire and she happened to be, you know, stand by witness. She was a neighbor and they asked her. She's talking about different things about how all she want to do is get a pop, and then she ran arouse with a lot of shoes because there was a fire's unexpected. I mean, that's a very scary, traumatic event. But by interviewing her, she kind of took all the scariness out of it.

58 And this is something about you. It was just crazy. She goes, I ain't nobody got time for that? And then that tagline, of course, it got circulated everywhere, social media, YouTube, everywhere. And then on the. Other side of that is now that I'm sixty plus, I'm not willing to put up with certain things that I used to before. I just like, you know what, just let it go. And now I'm at a point where I. Might say something. I was on airport a few years ago. Our flag was delayed, so the room was very full. Every seat was taken standing room only, and it's crowd and it's hot, and where I'm sitting is next to a woman who is on her cell phone and talking super loudly with the boyfriend or the friend whatever. And as I'm looking around at the other passengers, they're all giving her the dirty eye, like they're rolling their eyes, like just frustrated with how she's acting and just kind of just being loud because she's there, just oblivious to the fact that she's super loud. And I literally look around and I can hear the thetisk yeah, but no one's saying or doing anything. So it's my turn to step up. So I leaned in and I said something to the fact of.

13 You need to speak louder. Yeah, I'll hear you. I don't know what I said. It was rude, it was obnoxious. It was annoying, but it felt really good. And then she got mad at me, and then I'm sure a lot of people chuckled under the breath. The other time, I was walking into a store and there was a woman who walked in behind me. She had one kid in her arms and one kid, a toddler holding by the hand walking so obviously just got her hands full. So I would do this for a lot of people's. I held the door open for her as she walked past me, and I think she was also on the phone, So like kid, kid and a phone talking, walk right past me and didn't say anything even nod or a wink or a little wave or something like that. You just acknowledging the fact that I held the door open because I thought I was just being very nice, and something came over me.

58 So she walked past me. I just yelled, you're welcome, and then she stopped and realized, oh, thank you, thank you. So that's kind of like, I don't have time for this anymore. Right, I'm the one that always acquiesces to someone else. I'm like, why do I let you take power over me on something? Right? So I'm trying to like stand on firmer ground, speak up, maybe speak up for someone else if I see some something and maybe that person's being mistreated, just whatever the situation. I don't do it all the time, but I'm trying to lean in that direction. So, like the saying goes, I. Don't have time for that she it's very topical for us and our guests too, because we give them the chance to say, what are you just not going to deal with anymore? What are you tired of people on their phones with their speakerphones on and yelling? It's just like you said, But I think it's a great topical question to ask people, especially people of our age, and see how we kind of like let go of some stuff that used to be bothering us so much.

00 I love that. I think it's great. So that's where that segment came from. So when we and we only talk about it when we bring guests on, right, because they're in this age group, and it gives them a time to reflect not only things about what do you not have time for? But what do you tell your younger self? We try and we have a couple of guests, one who is coming on soon, another one's coming on later in the month. Where at the age of sixty, when you think they're probably thinking about retirement as I am, I'm thinking I'll give myself four more years? What I'm thinking for retirement? Right, So that's part of our conversation at this age. But these are two people, two guests that are coming on separately that each one after sixty has reinvented.

44 They've started segue. To a new career or a different career or another chapter, which is fascinating to me because I'm thinking, really, I want to turn the volume down, and you're just turning. The page and moving on something. But it's something that they're passionate about, so we want to hear their stories. I love it. Thanks for explaining that again to our listeners, because I think it's something that's come up and I think we love this segment more than anything. Of course, you and I love speaking and having our different topics, but every time we get into this one, we actually learn more about the people that. We're speaking to. I'm parched. Is there an olive in there somewhere.

24 For our listeners? I have a ginormous martini glass in my hand, Yes, but sadly it only has water in it because they don't vodka in the house. Yeah, but I guess and olive would take up too much room in that little glass. Well. No, I like it good olive, like a good dirty martini. Okay, but you know, for FCC rules, I'm staying sober. So while we're at it, I thought we would shout out all of our previous guests for the last two seasons, starting with Chris Martha, who was our latest guest. Chris, thanks so much. And also Chris, thank you for leaving us a voicemail on our website, which is what we would really like everyone to do, so later on we're going to play that back so people can see how easily it's done. Special thank you to Tanya Tate who was our guest before that, Abiola Levati, Elena Calderon Cook, Aaron Chapman from the previous podcast and now this podcast, Christine Freeman who's going to be coming back to us hopefully, Cec Rebelly, and Jeff Ralston. There's Jamie Lizzie whose sister might be coming on soon which is going to be fun.

26 And finally Alan Galander, who actually kicked off the whole season for us in season one. So a big thank you to all of you who have been on the podcast with you. We'd love to have you back again. We might start knocking on your door and we can't wait for you to subscribe to our YouTube channel. I leave comments and reviews, and. Leave comments and reviews, but I'm looking at you all of you, because some of you have not done that yet, and why not. Why wouldn't check. So if you'd like to be a guest on our podcast too, feel free to reach out to us on our website on pod page. I'll make sure that we have a little ding ding there. So yeah, so if. You'd like the GEO guest, all you need to just go to the website and leave us some messages. It's super super easy. And also I thought we just maybe talked real quick, girly. We've been podcasting together since twenty twenty one in October.

11 They went back to that and I tried to find the date. So it started with three p's in. A podcast, which we did for four five seasons. I forget four seasons, I think. So if you'd like to just take a look at that, we actually have that on our one of our websites. We can actually access those podcasts too. They're mostly an audio because we weren't so advanced as we are now. Right, there's some I mean, there's three of us on there, and we all equally share in the laughs and then some of the drama to in terms some of the stories we share. So it's just a really nice mix. And I'm going to throw you a curve ball because I wanted to talk about why we actually podcast. It's like, why are we doing this besides, you know, trying to make ourselves gible, But I thought, what my goal is for us is to create engagement. And what I mean by that is we want everyone to see all that we're growing older together. The more we can share our experiences and share information and share ourselves with others, the more we can let everyone know we are not alone out there. If we can lighten the load and provide some laughs along the way or remind you we're all on this current road together. That's why I like to do this podcast. It's not just because I don't love seeing your lovely face. I do, and it keeps us in touch. But at the end of the day, we're trying to create this engagement and let everyone know, like we're all going old together. This is all the same path that we're on. We all have different trials and tribulations and also really great uptimes and reinvention times. So that's kind of what I'm doing it for. And I know this is kind of a surprise question for you, Gary, but why do you like to do the podcast.

39 Well in the beginning, when we started the previous podcast, it was out of a need. It was during the pandemic when we started talking about it. The three of us all met up in Santa Barbara and sat around talking and sharing some really funny stories, some of which you've heard before, some you hadn't, and some serious stories, and we just had a lot of rich history. And because as we all lived in different cities, we didn't have the opportunity to be together like we did in the past when we all lived here in San Francisco. So for me, it was a way of staying connected because one thing I've noticed as I've gotten older is the friend group has kind of slowly drifted away, and not always for bad reasons. Some out of necessity, humed away because of work. Another friend moved away because of family obligations, So you know, that's what happens in life.

27 Were not always going to be in the same homeroom as it were, so it was a great opportunity to keep in touch with you with and then with this podcast. Clearly, you know, because we are over sixty, it's that next stage in our life when we're thinking about what's next yep, and maybe look back and you know what we've done, maybe what we wanted to do but didn't get a chance, you know what, all those opportunities, all those conversations and bringing in acquaintances, friends who were in that same age group, because we all have different stories to share exactly. And like I said, it's talking about keeping in touch and then just sharing stories because I know that when I listen to certain podcasts, I lean towards ones where there's a lesson to be learned or something that valuable to be shared. So that's where I'm coming from.

18 Okay, well, thank you. I appreciate that that was a question. I kind of curveballed into your DMS. I was ready and willing. Okay, so let's say congratulations to us, right, thank you, Happy anniversary our first year. Here's two twenty five years more of doing it. Oh well yeah, anyways, so happy anniversary, Gary. Thank you so much. You've been an amazing podcasting partner and a wonderful friend. I truly love you. Same Ay, I love you too, and kudos you for all the behind the scenes stuff that you do with all the research, all the editing, and the finding platform and putting all the videos together.

02 I can't do those. I I don't have time for that. Now you bring the intellect and. The looks, well, that's true, and the talent. Okay, well good, so I guess we're ready to sign this one off.
