What it will take to keep local Catholic Radio ON-AIR for 2024

Important Update on the future of
AM1270 CATHOLIC RADIO-CHARLOTTE

Our commitment to keep Charlotte’s first Catholic Radio Station on the air these past 5 years has been relentless.
In late 2021 we sold our tower site land to finance operations in 2022-2023.  Keeping the radio station on the air and Catholic are our top priorities.  If we had to sell we would look for Catholic ownership.  What we did not expect was the inability to work out a long-term land lease with the new owner at the tower site.  Without that long-term land lease we cannot sell the radio station.  So now it's up to you, our Carolina Catholic Community, to help keep us on the air.

As noted earlier, we have an opportunity to expand our radio signal coverage along the I-85 East corridor including both Cabarrus and Rowan counties.  This would dramatically increase the reach of Catholic Radio in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area from approximately 600,000 to 1,100,000!  The investment required to nearly double our coverage is $6000 per month.
This represents 6 parishes tithing at $1000 per month.

This year’s fundraising totals were dramatically under operating expenses of which 80% are attributable to the radio station.  That being said, it is our hope that after much expense cutting, your year-end donations and monthly pledges will allow us to pay our creditors and continue operating the radio station on a bare bone budget.  The success of this pledge drive between now and December 31 will determine whether we stay on the air or shut down the radio station prior to our fifth anniversary on January 31.  Please pray for the success of this campaign to keep our Digital and Radio Evangelization efforts going and growing in the year ahead.

Regardless of what happens with the radio station, we are prepared and committed to move forward with our 6 other media platforms to deliver strong 3-Diocese (3-D) coverage across the Carolinas. These platforms include:

For the 3rd time in 60 years, St. Rita's immaculate body was pulled out of her glass enclosure. The fragrance of roses, characteristic of Saint Rita, filled the entire sanctuary. St. Rita died in the 15th century, her body was preserved intact and it spreads the fragrance of rose. Every time a miracle is performed in the world, this fragrance spreads throughout the sanctuary.

PARISH AND SCHOOL NEWS

St. Mark Catholic School

We had a special visitor at our school this morning! St. Nicholas took time out of his feast day to visit our kindergarten through 4th grade. He read a special book to them by Jeanne Pieper titled, "A Special Place for Santa." The students left their shoes outside of their classrooms during the assembly and, much to their delight, found that St. Nicholas had left each of them a treat! What a fun day! #stnicholas #stmarklions #20yearsofcatholiceducation πŸŽ…

Why Religion Can't Satisfy Itself in God
What happens when we impose extra Biblical ideas onto ourselves or others in an effort to be "spiritual"? Forcing ourselves into fabricated holiness robs us of abundant life and joy-filled purpose. Let;s talk about the difference between true holiness and a self imposed infliction of religious ideas in an effort to be holy.
