You’re Telling Us What You Want to Read
Over the past several weeks, I’ve been hearing from more and more of you about the issues that matter most to you, your families, your Catholic faith, and the future of our country.
Some of these conversations have come through emails responding to the newsletter. Others have come through personal conversations and messages after our articles and programs.
I want to take those conversations seriously.
One of the things that has always made Carolina Catholic different is that we don't believe we need to fill your inbox every day with another stream of breaking news. We want to help you understand the stories and issues that actually matter—and to look at them through a Catholic lens.
So we are asking you a simple question:
What do you want Carolina Catholic to be talking about?
Tell us the issues you want us to investigate. Tell us the questions you have. Tell us what you think Catholic media is missing.
And tell us even when you disagree with us. Those conversations are valuable too.
One subject that has been generating particularly strong interest is Islam, Muslims, and the impact of Islam on Christian America.
This is a complicated subject, and it deserves more than slogans, political talking points, or fear on one side and denial on the other.
As Catholics, we should be willing to examine Islam honestly—including its religious beliefs and history, the diversity of Muslim communities, the experience of Christians living alongside Muslims, immigration and assimilation, religious liberty, and the growing influence of Islamic ideas and institutions in American public life.
Most importantly, we should ask what all of this means for Christians and for the future of Christianity in America.
That conversation needs to be grounded in truth, charity, reason, and the Catholic faith.
