I pray this email finds you well and that you are enjoying the summer with family and friends. I recently returned from Ireland and the International World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, held at the shrine of Our Lady of Knock on July 26th. The shrine was filled with grandparents and grandchildren. It was a beautiful sight to behold. EWTN has recorded the service:

Holy Mass Celebration at Knock Shrine
The Catholic Grandparents Association (CGA) Charlotte Diocese Chapter will be celebrating the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on September 12 & 13, 2026. We would be grateful for your help in raising awareness that, in the United States, the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly is celebrated in September, rather than on the universal July observance. This has understandably caused some confusion because the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has transferred the celebration to coincide with National Grandparents Day in the United States.
As the USCCB explains:
"The U.S. bishops have approved the transfer of the celebration of World Day for Grandparents in the U.S. to the first weekend after Labor Day (September 12and 13, 2026) to coincide with National Grandparents Day in the United States as many local communities, schools, and parishes have celebrated for some time."

We would love to have grandparents join us with our CGA banner in the Eucharistic Procession. Meet at the corner of S. Tryon and 3RD Sts. Look for a CGA sign. Join the group and the procession from there.
