#7 Q&Q — What Do You Need to Feel Safe?

Welcome to Episode 7 of Between The Ears, the first in host Arnold Beekes' new Q&Q format: a question and a quote designed to help listeners unlock and use their own uniqueness. This episode's question invites listeners to sit with what they truly need to feel safe, whether mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, or otherwise, and to take real time (a few days, or the weekend) to reflect rather than answer immediately. Arnold pairs it with his own quote: "Your life starts when you stop copying others," challenging the habit, reinforced by school and social media alike, of measuring ourselves against other people instead of discovering what's genuinely our own.

Ep7 Between the Ears Q&Q
Welcome, I'm Arnold Beukes and this is the question and quote version of the Between the Ears podcast. The goal is to enable you to unleash and use your uniqueness and in each Q&Q version as I call it, you will be triggered by a question which is very likely you can't answer immediately. So I hope you take some time, a couple of days, maybe the weekend to ponder this question because it will help you to get to know yourself and to see what you need and how you can further discover and use your uniqueness.

And the quote is also used to inspire you, to help you to think outside of the box, to get out of your comfort zone. So today's question is what do you need to feel safe? What do you need to feel safe? For some of you this might be a very simple question or something like why do I need it? My life is fine, everything is okay. Well, congratulations to you but for a lot of people it's not true.

It can be unsafe mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, environmentally, socially. So please take your time and think about this question. What do you need to feel safe? And today's quote is and these are quotes from myself and if I include quotes from other people I will mention the source but and the quote is your life starts when you stop copying others.

Your life starts when you stop copying others. We are taught actually that that is what school is about is to constantly copy and memorize what other people have said and done. And if you memorize it correctly you get a good grade and if you forgot something you get a lousy grade.

And on social media we're constantly comparing ourselves with other people. That's not helping you because you are not the same as other people. You are unique.

So think about it. Your life starts when you stop copying others. And remember we need your uniqueness.

Be a better maker for yourself, for others, the world.
