Paradigm Busting: How We Can Break Away From Our Limited Beliefs

How do we identify our limiting beliefs? How do we interrupt them?   

How do we fight nasty little devils whispering in our ears that tell us we aren’t worthy?   

In this episode, Dawn Matthis discusses paradigms. Briefly stated, paradigms are set beliefs, ideas, and values about how we view the real world.

For our purposes, we think of paradigms as synonymous with limiting beliefs.  For most people, paradigms show up in three ways:   

(1) Distraction: For example, we might think, “I need to do laundry before I make my business calls.”   

(2) Dissuasion: For example, our self-talk might be:  “I really don’t think I have what it takes to go after my dreams.”  

(3) DEFCON: Where fear is so great it shows up as a physical symptom.   

We need to be aware that we have limiting beliefs before we can address them.   We can access the intersection of spiritual/human expression via our breath. If we change our breathing, we can take ourselves out of the condition-driven, sympathetic nervous system, which is “fight, flight, or freeze.” And we can go into the parasympathetic nervous system, which is “rest, digest, and create.”   

Breathe into your power. And ask yourself, “what would I love?” Follow your dreams because your dreams know the way.
