We look at recent statements Canada's Trade Representative in Washington DC, Janice Charette, Canada's former Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Canada, Chrystia Freeland, to get a full sense of what happened at the trade table, and the importance of the current moment.
Between the opposition leaders from the Conservative Party and the NDP, there's enough populism and overreach to go 'round, but relative to each other, one is behaving much more as one would expect an honourable and loyal opposition to.
Is support for countermeasures against the United States a mile wide and an inch deep? New public opinion polling appears to indicate so, but there may be issues about reliability as the firm in question is new on the scene, and the publication bringing the results to us has a vested interest in us believing that.
