Recent events in both Alberta, Ontario, and Québec have Mr. Beaver wondering whether or not political parties can be trusted anymore to run democratic exercises such as petition drives, party leadership races, and electoral division nomination races.
He is also baffled as to why any political party, in 2026, would not arrange their affairs so that their democratic exercises would comply with recommendations from the recent public inquiry into foreign interference in Canadian politics, and suggests that parties proactively choosing not to do so should be disqualified or delisted.
