Good mornin' DamFam!
We swear we want to talk about developments on the trade and economic diversification file, as well as the new federal proposals to loosen up rules yet even more for project approvals, but drama and scandal as it pertains to the very exercise of democracy itself abound!
And this to the point that has us asking ourselves: "Can we trust political parties with the administration and execution of democracy anymore?"
Out in 'Berta, the Electors List Leak situation keeps getting worse as Danielle Smith casually reveals that even more "see/hear no evil" UCP staffers than first suspected were present and [start dripping sarc font] in a SHOCKER!!! nobody saw coming, a key player in the whole affair who first promised (in the moment, when the heat in the kitchen was boiling hot) would so totally cooperate with elections Alberta has decided: "Meh... Not so much!" [end dripping sarc font]
Meanwhile in Ontario...
Aspiring Leader of the Ontario Liberal Party, Nathaniel Erskine-Smith files an official complaint after having lost the nomination battle to be the OLP's candidate in the impending (yet to be declared) Scarborough-Southwest provincial by-election, by just 19 votes, in a process that is both claimed to have been nowhere near usual and inexplicably (not to mention, astoundingly) not in compliance with recommendations stemming from the national inquiry into foreign interference in Canadian politics, thus leading to instant questioning of the OLP's ability to be a serious option as an alternative to the very tired and allegedly extremely corrupt Doug Ford government.
Finally, there are municipal election results in New Brunswick (where hopefully, there were no irregularities)
And if we have time...
PM Mark Carney is proposing more changes to get projects — including that pipeline Smith keeps claiming she wants with her words, but not with her actions — approved more easily.
This is concerning, given the context that both Smith and the oil patch have been signalling they want to renege on or renegotiate (to still yet lower standards) the climate terms to which they agreed when signing the MOU.
NOTE: We unfortunately, were not able to do a show yesterday due to schedules that would not coordinate and way too much ambient noise from the work being done here at The Beaver Lodge
Our show today should start at 11:00 a.m. ET
