I have been listening to the Manuscript Academy podcast for over a year as an author/illustrator coming back to my previous career. Jennifer and Julie’s interview style is as informative as it is entertaining. With my picture book dummy now ready to query an agent, I have also just joined and am excited to see what this new journey brings! I found this podcast last month and have been inhaling it. The wisdom and authenticity of the guests and hosts make me think about the podcasts’ ideas long after the episode’s over. Super for networking and specificity.

I love listening to this podcast because I learn something new with every episode. I love the low-key interviews with agents and authors who are willing to share the scenes bhind the curtain into what makes the publishing industry tick. I listen to a LOT of writing podcasts, but the Manuscript Academy is one of my absolute favorites. Every time I see a new episode, I want to listen to it right away! Getting to hear from agents, authors, editors, and others from the publishing world is always educational and inspiring. And the Manuscript Academy community is so helpful and supportive. After working on a novel for six years, I was considering throwing it away rather than finish rewriting it during covid. But then I began listening the Manuscript Academy podcasts and not only began rewriting with a vengeance, I did so with a more informed view of what agents and editors want to find. This is a fantastic podcast for writers.

Highly recommended for any writer or aspiring writer.

I could purchase a book about writing books (ok, I already did this) and read about one author’s point of view, or I could listen to this podcast and gain insight from a variety of experts in the publishing industry. I have enjoyed Q and A from the hosts as well as updated information provided during interviews. I recommend this podcast.

Julie and Jessica are such fun hosts of this show highlighting all aspects of writing, agenting, editing, and the publishing industry. After listening to almost the entire catalogue of episodes, I feel less apprehensive about communicating with agents and industry professionals. The best writing podcast I have found—very practical information about all aspects of the industry, from querying to publicity. Highly recommend!

This platform gives listeners exposure to almost every aspect of publishing—from the original idea to the final publishing. The beginning episodes were a little too filled with personal trivia of hosts and guests; that has improved a great deal. The one thing that is annoying is The Valley Girl lilt that permeates each podcast. Sometimes it makes me stop listening. Good luck to both of you.

Sometimes I feel torn when I listen to Podcasts—like, I really should be writing instead! But not with thispodcast. In fact, I usually feel as though I should listen to this before writing ANYTHING. On the downside, Ijust found it. On the upside, I have a lot of catching up to do.

I have listened to every podcast episode and always learn so much from Jessica, Julie, and the guest. The first page podcasts are my favorite! It’s great to hear the thoughts of an agent while they read their inbox submissions.I recommend this podcast for all writers!

Jessica and Julie are true gifts to the publishing industry. They are kind, funny, insightful, and it generously giving their time on this earth to help others become better at what they do. As a writer who is still unpublished, I love binging a few of these every so often to catch up on what’s happening in publishing, to learn tips and tools of the trade, and to feel a little less alone in a job that can feel isolating. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in writing as a career.
