Fresh episode: FOMO;you really don't want to miss this one!

Gender: What if your kid comes makes an announcement you're not prepared for or don't understand?

The issue of gender and personal identification has become very prominent worldwide over the past decade.

Workplaces, schools, and laws are being changed to provide accommodations for people who don't fit a norm.

For some, this seems like an obvious progression, and rooted in kindness and care. For others this can feel very challenging, even offensive; particularly if your child comes home making declarations you don't understand.

Even if our own children aren't affected, they are living in a world where things have changed dramatically from when we were teenagers, so I decided we'd all benefit from listening to someone with extensive experience, and refreshing perspectives on gender.

Stella O'Malley's a psychotherapist, writer, public speaker and parent, with many years’ experience working as a mental health professional.

She's also the founder of Genspect, an international alliance of professionals, trans people, de-transitioners, parent groups and others who seek high-quality care for gender-related distress.

Her latest, co-authored, book is called When Kids Say They're Trans.

The full interview will be out next Wednesday. Follow the podcast to make sure you don't miss it, but here's some advice for parents who might be caught on the back foot by their child.

In fact it's brilliant advice, regardless of the issue. 👏
