Verifying your Podpage with Google Search Console

Google Search Console shows you how Google sees your website — which pages are indexed, what searches you appear for, and any crawl problems. Verifying your Podpage with it is quick and worth doing for every site.

How to add your site to Search Console

  1. Sign in to Google Search Console with your Google account.
  2. Click Add property in the upper left.
  3. In the URL prefix column, enter your domain as https://www.yourdomain.com (replacing it with your own domain). If your site is on a subdomain, enter that instead — for example https://podcast.yourdomain.com.
  4. Choose a verification method. The two easiest are Google Analytics and HTML tag — both are covered below.
Google Search Console verification method options

Option 1: Verify with Google Analytics

If you've already connected Google Analytics to your Podpage, choose the Google Analytics method and click Verify. Your site verifies immediately.

Option 2: Verify with the HTML tag

  1. In Search Console, choose HTML tag. You'll see a tag — copy only the value inside the content attribute (the long string of letters and numbers).
  2. In your dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations and choose Google Search Console.
  3. Paste the value into the Google Search Console Verify ID field and click Save.
  4. Back in Search Console, click Verify.

Tip: Once verified, submit your sitemap (yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml) under Sitemaps in Search Console. For more on getting your pages into Google, see How to get your site indexed by Google.
