Understanding confirmed vs. unconfirmed email addresses

If you don't have an email list provider yet (Kit, Beehiiv, MailerLite — there are many), Podpage can collect email addresses for you until you choose one. Every address on your mailing list is either confirmed or unconfirmed.

How confirmation works

  1. Sign-up (unconfirmed): A listener fills out the signup form on your website. Their address appears on the Unconfirmed tab of your mailing list — they've shown interest, but haven't verified they want your emails yet.
  2. Confirmation email: Podpage sends them an email asking them to confirm they want to join your list.
  3. Confirmed: Once they click the confirmation button, their address moves to the Confirmed tab of your mailing list.

Why the extra step matters

This double opt-in process is required by anti-spam laws, and it works in your favor: everyone on your confirmed list has actively chosen to hear from you, so you can email them with confidence.

Tip: You'll find both tabs in your dashboard under Engage Listeners → Build a Mailing List.
