Moving your Podpage from one domain to another

Switching your website from an old domain to a new one? Follow these steps in order to avoid downtime and make sure visitors (and Google) end up at your new address.

Step 1: Add the Podpage DNS records to the new domain

  1. Log in to your domain registrar.
  2. Add the Podpage DNS records to the new domain — the exact values are in What are the Podpage DNS settings for my domain?
  3. Wait 2–3 hours for the records to propagate.

Step 2: Update the domain in your Podpage dashboard

  1. In your dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Domain.
  2. Click Edit on the domain you previously entered.
  3. Replace it with the new domain and save.

Step 3: Forward the old domain to the new one

At your registrar, open the old domain's Forwarding settings and forward it to the new domain with these options:

  • Permanent (301 redirect): on — this tells Google to index the new domain.
  • Forward path: on — so olddomain.net/episodes redirects to newdomain.com/episodes.
  • SSL: on — so both http and https addresses redirect.
  • Masking: off.

Note: If your registrar doesn't offer these options (GoDaddy, for example), consider moving the old domain to a registrar that supports path forwarding, such as Squarespace.

Then give it an hour or so. Once the changes take effect, visitors to your old domain land on your new one automatically.
