Interesting take
I listen to A LOT of true crime podcasts and I liked this one because it is from a different point of view. I’ve never had jury duty and I know nothing really about sequestration. Learning about that while walking through the trial day by day was very interesting. I appreciated all of the clips that were woven in from the actual trial too. She does speak slowly but I listen to this at 1.25 - 1.5 speed and it’s perfect.
Well done
Podcast done very well. Weaving of the firsthand account from the sequestered juror (which is incredibly rare these days) and audio recordings from the actual trial testimony and arguments, and news reports made it interesting to listen to, and not boring even when the outcome appeared obvious from the beginning.
Love
Personally love this podcast and so happy to come across it. I love how you hold respect for the victim and her family - so many true crime podcasts these days are focused on the shock factor - taking the humanity out of it. Your voice is perfectly calming and holds my attention. Will be sharing!
Well done!
The information about this case was well laid out and explained. It was gripping, even though we know of his guilt before the trial. The narrator spoke clearly and concisely. Altogether, it was a great podcast.
Interesting listen
This is not a knock on the podcast but it’s weird that there was no motive mentioned at all in the trial. It seems like this murder was VERY pre meditated (why else would he have shackles in his apartment) but why?! He jsut wanted to kill someone for fun? Were they fighting? Did any of her friends know this man? So many questions!
Wonderful podcast
Loved it! Great coverage!
Just a little correction…
Sarah, you did a great job, but I wanted to tell you that in Episode 8, you referred to being part of a grand jury. That’s not correct; you were part of a petit jury. Otherwise, wonderful work, and I loved the way you considered Jasmine Pace’s life.
Good try but very repetitive
I am giving this 5 stars because the rating system is binary. This podcast is empathetic and focused on some of the more positive aspects of criminal trial law. The perspective is unique and insightful. It also feels very scripted due to how it is structured and narrated. I am an avid podcast listener and this was well produced but it absolutely could have been edited better. The way people are described is very repetitive (for example the way people “carry” themselves could be a drinking game) I quickly learned by the description of certain parts of episodes what I could skip through. For heavily scripted podcasts I really recommend a more abridged version. This podcast could have been 3 episodes shorter with a good editor and would be better for it.
Excellent Podcast
I had not heard of this horrific case before listening. Your voice, presentation, format, music, storyline and ending. One question I have…Were all jurors as eager and dedicated as you by thoroughly reviewing the case docs in order to make an informative decision?
Tribute
Coming from someone that does not live in Chatt, I myself being a Chatt transplant for 10 years this was a phenomenal podcast on one of the biggest cases in this area for quite some time. You took the time to shine a light on the city and the case which I was delighted to see. Highly recommended
Excellent
Thank you for brilliantly sharing this tragic story.
Well Done
It was wise of you to omit the more salacious details of Jasmine’s brutal murder to spare both the listener, her friends and family and others who may be victims of severe abuse at the hands of those they love and those who they think love them. Your comments in the last episode about being a juror and especially about if you were called to do so again were honestly admitted and profound for those of us who have yet to serve in this important role. The comments by both Attorneys General were a thoughtful and importantly informative addition to your podcast. I’m so glad you included them. The amount of data on the website is admittedly overwhelming yet lends to the significant task you and your fellow jurors had ahead of you. Based on all of it, you made the right call. Well done.
CEEEEquestered
That’s all
Great podcast
I listen to a lot of true crime and legal podcasts and this one was excellent. I had never heard of this case before and I feel it was approached with empathy and compassion. It was interesting to hear the juror perspective and how it impacted her. She did a great job presenting the case and keeping the victim the center of the story.
Voice
Sorry- I can’t listen to Juror 11’s voice past the third episode!
A great listen
One of the most solid podcasts I have listened to in awhile. The closing arguments had me in tears. Thank you for this one
An Eye Opening Journey
I originally just started listening because I live about an hour south from Chattanooga but didn’t know about this case. I ended up binging every episode until the end. As a law junkie, I don’t think I will ever forget the definition of premeditation. The jury being able to ask questions was an interesting bonus. It was new to me and I think it’s a great idea. And it’s true, the victims of crime & their names get lost in the fascination of the monsters who commit the crimes. I won’t make that mistake anymore.
Interesting but wanted more insight
Given the description i thought I’d hear more about the behind the scenes of being a juror and who the other jurors are. Maybe that’s coming in later episodes
Obsessed
I cannot stop listening to this podcast. It is delivered incredibly!!!
Increadily interesting
Overall this is really interesting and keeps the victim the focus. A juror perspective is important to understand. My only feedback would be to remove the background music from live court audio as it’s hard to hear to begin with and the music makes it more difficult.
Just Binged!!
Excellent Podcast. Just want to say, I’d be curious how long he had the handcuffs and shackles. Do people just have those sitting around their house in case of an emergency?
Such a heartbreaking story
This was a solid podcast, but I felt like the narration was redundant and sort of silly at times. That said, I am so sorry for this girl and her family.
Amazing!!!
I binged this entire series in two days. Couldn’t get enough. Excellent story telling.
Five stars & Highly recommend
This is definitely one of the best podcasts I have yet to hear. Truly is phenomenal and to hear it in such detail and from your own perspective of a juror. I definitely recommend. #JusticeforJasminePace
