Recovery Catalyst Intro
Welcome to Recovery Catalyst Podcast. I’m Cat York and as a woman in recovery, I created this show for anyone navigating the ups and downs of sobriety without the dry, textbook lectures. Whether you are sober curious, finding your footing in early recovery, working through traditional programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, or exploring an alcohol-free lifestyle, you have a home here. We talk openly about mental health, the heavy weight of trauma and the complexities of dual diagnosis. Our mission is to foster honest conversations around addiction, recovery and emotional healing. If you are looking for an authentic community that truly understands the challenges of substance abuse and building a meaningful life after addiction, you have found your place.

Hi. Welcome to Call Her Cat, where we keep it real even if it hurts. I'm Kat and I'm the black sheep my family loves to hate. The wannabe generational curse breaker, if you will. Join me on this wild ride to unring some bells and hopefully heal a little bit. So what are we gonna explore here? Well, we're gonna explore what it's like to grow up in an alcoholic home filled with mental illness, violence, neglect, loneliness, sorrow, anxiety, depression. But there's also a story of hope here, of healing, of resilience, of second chances, of redemption. But it's a hard story to hear. You know, there's no real happy endings. Life isn't all happy endings. I'm gonna tell you my story. And along the way, I'm gonna have guests, people in recovery. I'm gonna have counselors, other podcasters, um, authors. I don't want to just live in an echo chamber where I'm the only voice you hear. I I wanna have I want this to be like a family, not just a podcast. I don't have much of a family right now. That's a big reason for me starting this. You know, I want to try to reach out and reach out to those that that need it. And I'm not gonna lie, there's no fluff here. Um, you know, I'm just doing this from my home. There's no big team, it's just me. There's gonna be mistakes. I'm gonna screw up. It might not sound perfect, you know, but you're gonna get to know me. There's gonna be episodes every Tuesday and Friday, maybe more, but we're gonna start with that. You'll be able to find me on Spotify, on Apple Podcasts. And I'm working on building um an Instagram and a Facebook and a website. So give me a little bit of time, and I hope we can really come together. And maybe on the days when you're feeling lonely and need a friend, you can listen to this. But just uh trigger warning, you know, again, there is there's violence in my story, there's addiction, there's overdose, there's abuse, there's language, there's mental illness. So um, if you're looking for something warm and fluffy, this isn't the place to start. Um I'm gonna start with the first chapter coming out this Friday. And it's gonna be from um a book I'm working on called Sins of the Father. And every week, twice a week, you're gonna get a chapter of that book. Um, because I feel it's most important. I feel a calling to tell this story through a podcast. I don't know if written word is the best way to tell it, so I'm gonna tell it through my own voice. And hope it reaches you. I hope it touches you, and hope together we can all heal. Thank you for listening to my long winded introduction, and I look forward to getting to know you. Thank you.
