Royal author Tom Bower claims Prince Andrew was recently approached about voluntarily removing himself from the line of succession, describing it as “the cleanest solution” to an ongoing constitutional dilemma.

At the same time, reports suggest a widening investigation tied to Jeffrey Epstein—codenamed “Operation Ironville”—is examining what former staff and protection officers may have known. One source said, “Anyone who worked closely around Andrew Windsor is running scared right now.”

The report claims investigators are reviewing past trips and witness accounts, with insiders suggesting the scale of the operation indicates a complex and expanding inquiry.
Andrew’s legal position remains uncertain. Legal expert Simarjot Singh Judge noted, “The criminal law sets out precise legal definitions and evidential thresholds. If those elements are not met, then there is simply no basis for prosecution.”

Meanwhile, Andrew’s day-to-day life is described as increasingly restricted, with one insider claiming he spends much of his time “just getting up and wandering around in his pyjamas… binge watching shows on Netflix.”

Removal vans have also been spotted at his new residence, Marsh Farm, raising questions about the movement of valuable items from Royal Lodge.

1
00:00:00.240 --> 00:00:11.160
Ah Calorogus Shark Media. Hello and welcome to Palace Intrigue.

2
00:00:11.160 --> 00:00:14.359
I am your host, Mark Francis Boyle. Author Tom Bauer

3
00:00:14.439 --> 00:00:17.920
claims that Andrew mount Batten Windsor was recently approached about

4
00:00:17.960 --> 00:00:22.879
voluntarily stepping away from the line of succession. According to Bauer,

5
00:00:22.960 --> 00:00:26.519
an individual traveled to Sandringham to raise the issue directly.

6
00:00:26.600 --> 00:00:29.039
He said, as I understand it, someone went up to

7
00:00:29.160 --> 00:00:33.200
Sandringham last Saturday from the Palace to suggest to Andrew

8
00:00:33.200 --> 00:00:36.679
that you voluntarily give up the succession and he can

9
00:00:36.840 --> 00:00:39.520
do that. He can sign a form saying he renounces

10
00:00:39.640 --> 00:00:42.600
the succession that ends it straight away, and that would

11
00:00:42.600 --> 00:00:47.320
be the cleanest solution. Bauer added that the messenger acknowledged

12
00:00:47.359 --> 00:00:50.520
the sensitivity of the task, stating, they gave me the

13
00:00:50.600 --> 00:00:52.320
dirty work to do, but it's a good thing that

14
00:00:52.359 --> 00:00:54.479
they've started it, and that's the way to handle it.

15
00:00:55.679 --> 00:00:58.640
Former staff who worked around Andrew mount Batten Windsor are

16
00:00:58.679 --> 00:01:03.079
reportedly anxious as in investigators continue examining his past links

17
00:01:03.119 --> 00:01:07.040
to Jeffrey Epstein, according to claims made by sources familiar

18
00:01:07.040 --> 00:01:10.959
with the inquiry. According to reports by Radar Online, investigators

19
00:01:11.040 --> 00:01:15.599
reviewing material linked to the wider Epstein inquiry are examining

20
00:01:15.640 --> 00:01:18.799
whether anyone working around Andrew may have had knowledge of

21
00:01:18.879 --> 00:01:24.480
suspicious behavior during visits connected to the financier. One source

22
00:01:24.519 --> 00:01:28.439
familiar with the situation said the discussion was preliminary in nature,

23
00:01:28.519 --> 00:01:31.400
but it was conducted in a very straightforward and candid way.

24
00:01:31.760 --> 00:01:35.840
Investigators were clearly trying to establish what background knowledge might

25
00:01:35.920 --> 00:01:40.400
exist among people who previously held senior responsibility for royal security.

26
00:01:40.840 --> 00:01:43.560
That conversation alone has people who used to guard Andrew

27
00:01:43.560 --> 00:01:47.000
Windsor extremely nervous about being interviewed about what they might

28
00:01:47.120 --> 00:01:49.840
have known or witnessed. None of them want to be

29
00:01:49.879 --> 00:01:52.959
seen as accessories or enablers, and none really want to

30
00:01:52.959 --> 00:01:55.840
be grilled on what they really knew about Andrew's slees.

31
00:01:56.640 --> 00:01:59.599
Another palace insider suggested the anxiety is not limited to

32
00:01:59.680 --> 00:02:03.519
former protection officers. The source said it is not just

33
00:02:03.560 --> 00:02:06.760
the police minders who are worried. Anyone who worked closely

34
00:02:06.840 --> 00:02:10.560
around Andrew Windsor is running scared right now because investigators

35
00:02:10.560 --> 00:02:14.560
appear determined to reconstruct exactly what everyone knew at the time.

36
00:02:15.599 --> 00:02:19.439
Investigators are reportedly paying particular attention to trips Andrew made

37
00:02:19.439 --> 00:02:23.199
to properties connected to Epstein, including visits to New York,

38
00:02:23.240 --> 00:02:26.479
where Epstein maintained a townhouse that later became central to

39
00:02:26.520 --> 00:02:30.800
a number of allegations. The police source said detectives want

40
00:02:30.800 --> 00:02:34.039
to understand whether anyone on the protection teams noticed anything

41
00:02:34.120 --> 00:02:37.479
unusual during those visits. The focus is on what people

42
00:02:37.520 --> 00:02:41.680
observed firsthand and whether any concerns were ever raised. Internally,

43
00:02:42.120 --> 00:02:44.639
officials are said to be encouraging former staff to come

44
00:02:44.680 --> 00:02:47.800
forward with any details they may recall, even if the

45
00:02:47.840 --> 00:02:53.080
information seemed insignificant at the time. One source said, at

46
00:02:53.080 --> 00:02:56.400
its core, the inquiry is straightforward. Detectives want to know

47
00:02:56.439 --> 00:02:59.080
exactly what people observed at the time and whether there

48
00:02:59.159 --> 00:03:01.560
is anything they are made that could shed light on

49
00:03:01.599 --> 00:03:05.479
the wider picture. It's not really about getting former officers

50
00:03:05.520 --> 00:03:08.199
in trouble, but there could also be consequences for them

51
00:03:08.599 --> 00:03:11.240
if it turned out they enabled, ignored, or covered up

52
00:03:11.280 --> 00:03:16.319
illegal behavior. Another person familiar with Royal protection operations said

53
00:03:16.319 --> 00:03:20.400
that the long assignments around high profile individuals can sometimes

54
00:03:20.479 --> 00:03:23.759
blow a professional boundaries. They said, in a few cases,

55
00:03:23.800 --> 00:03:26.400
it began to look as though certain officers were absorbing

56
00:03:26.479 --> 00:03:30.199
the habits, speech patterns, and attitudes of the individuals. They

57
00:03:30.199 --> 00:03:35.400
were tasked with protecting, which raised eyebrows among colleagues. When

58
00:03:35.439 --> 00:03:39.319
protection officers spend long periods around the same high profile figures,

59
00:03:39.680 --> 00:03:42.840
there was always a risk that the relationship becomes overly familiar.

60
00:03:43.120 --> 00:03:46.199
In some situations, it gave the impression that the officers

61
00:03:46.240 --> 00:03:49.599
were moving within the same social environment, rather than maintaining

62
00:03:49.639 --> 00:03:54.680
the clear separation that the role normally requires. The investigation

63
00:03:54.759 --> 00:03:58.520
is being handled under the code name Operation Ironville, suggesting

64
00:03:58.560 --> 00:04:01.639
authorities believe the inquiry has grown into a significant and

65
00:04:01.759 --> 00:04:07.199
complex operation. One insider tells Radar Online. When an investigation

66
00:04:07.280 --> 00:04:09.680
reaches the point where it has formally labeled something like

67
00:04:09.840 --> 00:04:13.360
Operation Ionville, it usually means authorities believe the case has

68
00:04:13.360 --> 00:04:16.879
grown into something substantial. These kinds of code names are

69
00:04:16.920 --> 00:04:19.680
not handed out lightly. They are typically used when a

70
00:04:19.720 --> 00:04:23.920
probe involves numerous lines of inquiry, intelligence coming in from

71
00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:30.079
different directions, and multiple teams working together. References to Operation

72
00:04:30.160 --> 00:04:33.639
Ionville reportedly appeared in a search description connected to the

73
00:04:33.759 --> 00:04:38.160
Major Investigation Police Portal, a system used by law enforcement

74
00:04:38.240 --> 00:04:41.319
agencies to gather intelligence and tips from witnesses and informants

75
00:04:41.319 --> 00:04:44.759
across the UK. Another source to the code name helps

76
00:04:44.800 --> 00:04:49.360
investigators manage complex operations, they explained. In practical terms, a

77
00:04:49.360 --> 00:04:54.160
code name like Operation Ionville allows officers across different departments

78
00:04:54.160 --> 00:04:58.120
to coordinate information quickly and efficiently without constantly referencing the

79
00:04:58.160 --> 00:05:01.879
sensitive details of the case itself. The source outed that

80
00:05:01.959 --> 00:05:06.360
such designations often indicate a probe involving significant evidence gathering

81
00:05:06.399 --> 00:05:11.920
and potentially cooperation between different agencies or jurisdictions. In practical terms,

82
00:05:12.040 --> 00:05:16.000
investigators are likely coordinating information from around multiple sources, previewing

83
00:05:16.079 --> 00:05:19.079
documents and witness accounts, and enduring different units can communicate

84
00:05:19.120 --> 00:05:22.399
efficiently about the same investigation. A code name is a

85
00:05:22.439 --> 00:05:25.000
strong indication that the matter has progressed well beyond the

86
00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:28.600
stage of simply asking preliminary questions or conducting a small

87
00:05:28.639 --> 00:05:32.959
internal check. The Sun reports Andrew was referred to as

88
00:05:33.040 --> 00:05:36.199
Detainee A during his arrest. A source told the Son,

89
00:05:36.600 --> 00:05:39.000
it brings it home, doesn't it to go from Prince

90
00:05:39.040 --> 00:05:41.959
and Duke and Earl Baron Knight, all those fancy titles,

91
00:05:41.959 --> 00:05:45.639
and then suddenly your detainee A. He must have thought

92
00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:48.480
just being plain and he was awful at one point.

93
00:05:48.720 --> 00:05:50.680
I don't suppose he thought he could get much worse.

94
00:05:51.279 --> 00:05:54.319
Police in Norfolk are fed up that he's effectively been

95
00:05:54.560 --> 00:05:59.759
dumped on them and made their problem. Andrew's legal position

96
00:05:59.839 --> 00:06:02.399
is under anew scrutiny, but one legal expert says any

97
00:06:02.399 --> 00:06:05.360
further action would depend on whether a very specific threshold

98
00:06:05.439 --> 00:06:09.160
could be met. Despite the reputational damage caused by his

99
00:06:09.199 --> 00:06:12.199
friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and his appearance in the Epstein files,

100
00:06:12.279 --> 00:06:15.439
experts say that does not automatically translate into a viable

101
00:06:15.920 --> 00:06:21.079
criminal case. Speaking to The Mirror, Simrajot Singh Judge, managing

102
00:06:21.079 --> 00:06:24.959
partner at Judge Law, said some offenses, such as misconduct

103
00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:27.800
in public office, do require the individual to be acting

104
00:06:27.839 --> 00:06:31.439
as a public officer at the time. That is a

105
00:06:31.560 --> 00:06:35.920
relatively narrow legal category and is not automatically satisfied simply

106
00:06:35.920 --> 00:06:37.959
because someone is a member of the royal family. It

107
00:06:37.959 --> 00:06:41.040
would depend on whether they were performing an official public

108
00:06:41.120 --> 00:06:45.360
function recognized in law. Judge went on to explain that

109
00:06:45.399 --> 00:06:48.920
even if someone could be considered a public officer, prosecutors

110
00:06:49.040 --> 00:06:51.959
was still need to show serious wrongdoing connected to that role.

111
00:06:52.319 --> 00:06:55.879
He said. In addition, misconduct in public office requires proof

112
00:06:55.959 --> 00:06:58.680
not just of status, but of serious misconduct connected to

113
00:06:58.680 --> 00:07:01.240
that public role, and that the conduct amounted to an

114
00:07:01.240 --> 00:07:04.319
abuse of the public's trust. Financial gain can be relevant

115
00:07:04.360 --> 00:07:08.560
to some offenses, but is not always a strict legal requirement.

116
00:07:09.480 --> 00:07:13.480
The criminal law sets out precise legal definitions and evidential thresholds.

117
00:07:13.759 --> 00:07:15.959
If those elements are not met, then there is simply

118
00:07:15.959 --> 00:07:20.800
no basis for prosecution under that specific offense. Judge also

119
00:07:20.879 --> 00:07:24.319
drew a distinction between legal exposure and public fallout. He

120
00:07:24.360 --> 00:07:27.879
said it is also important to distinguish between legal liability

121
00:07:27.920 --> 00:07:32.160
and reputational consequences. The absence of a criminal charge does

122
00:07:32.680 --> 00:07:36.959
not automatically resolve public or institutional concerns, which operate under

123
00:07:37.120 --> 00:07:45.519
entirely different considerations. More palace in just a moment, Andrew

124
00:07:45.560 --> 00:07:49.360
was reportedly living a highly restricted and increasingly isolated life,

125
00:07:49.839 --> 00:07:55.160
described as huffy teenager style, with an insider telling Radar Online.

126
00:07:55.519 --> 00:07:57.639
People who know what is going on say Andrew spends

127
00:07:57.680 --> 00:08:00.759
much of his time in his fairly slobby check this way,

128
00:08:01.319 --> 00:08:03.720
just getting up and wandering around in his pajamas without

129
00:08:03.759 --> 00:08:06.920
showering or changing. And said he passes time just eating

130
00:08:06.959 --> 00:08:10.240
and huffily playing video games and binge watching shows on

131
00:08:10.319 --> 00:08:14.680
Netflix on his sofa and computer. From what people around

132
00:08:14.720 --> 00:08:18.160
the estate understand, Andrew is more or less confined to

133
00:08:18.279 --> 00:08:22.279
wood Farm for the time being. His routine seems very restricted,

134
00:08:22.360 --> 00:08:24.800
with clear limits on how freely he can come and

135
00:08:24.879 --> 00:08:29.759
go what activities he can pursue. Removal vans were seen

136
00:08:29.800 --> 00:08:33.159
at Andrew's new residence, Marsh Farm. Three lorries from specialist

137
00:08:33.240 --> 00:08:36.240
to fine art firm Gander and White were spotted outside

138
00:08:36.240 --> 00:08:39.320
the five bedroom property. The company, which holds a Royal warrant,

139
00:08:39.360 --> 00:08:43.240
is known for transporting valuable artworks for major institutions and

140
00:08:43.320 --> 00:08:46.840
private collectors, raising questions about whether items from Andrew's previous

141
00:08:46.960 --> 00:08:50.879
residents are being relocated. It remains unclear exactly what the

142
00:08:50.960 --> 00:08:54.320
removal vans were carrying, although Andrew's former home, Royal Lodge,

143
00:08:54.360 --> 00:08:57.279
was known to house a number of valuable pieces connected

144
00:08:57.399 --> 00:09:02.080
to the Royal collection. In the Mirror, Juliet Banham describes

145
00:09:02.120 --> 00:09:05.320
Andrew's new home. She writes, standing on the other side

146
00:09:05.320 --> 00:09:08.039
of Marsh Farm's modest fence, it's difficult to believe you're

147
00:09:08.080 --> 00:09:11.200
looking at the home of the Sun of the Monarch, Molehill,

148
00:09:11.279 --> 00:09:14.720
puckered lawn, and all chosen for its privacy. The abode

149
00:09:14.799 --> 00:09:16.960
is by no means hidden, just a future. It meters

150
00:09:16.960 --> 00:09:19.159
away from the country Lane, where vans and tractors make

151
00:09:19.200 --> 00:09:22.519
their steady way along the bends. Passes by walking their

152
00:09:22.519 --> 00:09:24.840
dogs can easily see through the windows or note the

153
00:09:24.879 --> 00:09:28.039
ghostly steam billowing from the pipes out into the chill air.

154
00:09:28.559 --> 00:09:31.679
Local resident Shanna told The Mirror, I don't really particularly

155
00:09:31.879 --> 00:09:33.639
like the things he's done, so I'm not very happy

156
00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:35.639
about it, to be honest. But you can't stop it,

157
00:09:35.679 --> 00:09:37.440
can you. You just have to get on with it

158
00:09:37.480 --> 00:09:41.519
and hopefully he moves somewhere else there ah. But if
