Todd Smith and Jody Sanders have interviewed so many professionals, I have a much better understanding of how appellate courts work behind the scenes, the types of arguments they like and do not, and they do it all with humor and curiosity. If you are an attorney(you don’t have to be appellate) listening to these episodes will help you become a better one.

Todd Smith and Jody Sanders, two of the greatest civil appellate lawyers in Texas, conduct excellent interviews on diverse topics of interest to Texas litigation attorneys. The Texas Bar should give CLE credit for this podcast, but that would put them out of business.

This is a great resource for all. The guests are always entertaining and the hosts do a great job of covering a variety of current and practical topics.

The Texas Appellate Law Podcast is a one-of-a-kind resource for Texas attorneys, particularly trial and appellate attorneys practicing in Texas state and federal appellate courts. With a weekly podcast, unlike monthly CLE meetings or periodic written publications, you can keep up with the most recent events and new legal trends, technology, and court opinions. And the closing guests’ tips or war stories never disappoint. I never miss an episode.

As a law student, I have found this podcast to be a great supplement for regular classes. I highly recommend this to any other students interested in appellate law, and also currently practicing attorneys!

As a law student preparing for practice, I’ve found this podcast to be incredibly insightful. The discussion with practitioners informs me of what the day-to-day appellate practice entails. The behind the scenes discussion with jurist gives the listener a sneak peak of law from behind the bench and lets the listener know that judges are human too. Finally, the commentary from court personnel and staff provides practical advice for somebody learning the particulars of how courts function.
