Indonesian fishers paid to catch plastic instead of fish

Marine protected areas work well to protect fisheries and biodiversity if the areas are not fished during protection. But what happens to the fishers during those closures? Fishers could have a tough time finding alternative income during closures in areas where they used to fish to make a living and feed their families.
