Treating The Cause, Not Just The Symptom

Treating The Cause, Not Just The Symptom

In this epsiode Dr. Emily Guiterrez discusses her work with children using functional medicine, or as she calls it, Bio-Hacking.  A label she can proudly stand behind with a 95% success rate.

Emily focuses not on the symptom, but why the symptom has appeared. Seeing the body as an integrative system she has a unique approach to diagnosis and a broad approach to treatment including lifestyle, and nutritional changes. The co-author of Amazon's bestseller within 48 hours, A Parents Road Map to Autism, A Functional Medicine Approach, Dr. Guiterrez has a passion for helping motivated patients, especially children, who come to her with conditions ranging from Anxiety to Autism.

Dr. Emily Gutierrez received her doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University as a doctor of nursing practice, is a certified pediatric nurse practitioner and mental health specialist, and a certified practitioner through the Institute of Functional Medicine. She co-owns and operates one of the first pediatric functional medicine practices in the country, Neuronutrition Associates, where she and her partner specialize in children with neurodevelopmental delays and all things pediatric functional medicine. Dr. Gutierrez recently wrote a book, “The Parents Roadmap to Autism; A Functional Medicine Approach” where she helps families with children on the spectrum navigate through how to apply functional medicine principles to their child’s journey of development.

Hi, I’m Ashleigh Tolliver, and this podcast is a road map to Parenting That Kid. As a mother to a highly sensitive little boy, I know what it means to parent a child who does not fit into the ‘box’ modern society has put children into. My mission is to help other parents of “that kid”  feel less alone, more confident and more equipped by asking the tough questions to the professionals, gathering tools and resources and connecting with other moms who are wrestling with the same struggles.

If recording my journey as I seek a clear starting point, community and effort to normalize life with a highly emotional, sometimes out of control child, supports at least one parent, then my time is not wasted. And if it doesn’t, there’s documented proof that moms deserve a glass of wine.

Cheers
