Self-love is one of the most basic yet misunderstood notions in the world today. Some view it as a new age idea that can't be put into practice.

However, this could not be further from the truth. This self-love meditation will walk you through the process of building self-love. It will also define it and discuss its history, as well as how it has been a key foundation of all spiritual teachings.

Self-love is the most powerful technique to increase your self-esteem and become a completely healed and integrated human being. People frequently approach the concept backward. They examine characteristics such as how a confident person walks or examines their qualities.

However, any radical transformation begins from inside. You begin to value yourself as a powerful producer of your own world, deserving of everyone's love and respect. Self-esteem is the polar opposite of selfishness.

You cannot unconditionally love another person unless you first love yourself.

Self-love should not imply indulging in detrimental behaviors and turning a blind eye. It has nothing to do with conceit or narcissism, but rather with becoming a totally whole and integrated person.

Your life will be so much easier if you can practice self-love. This is because you will not undermine yourself as much, as everyone does when they believe they are unworthy.

You'll also have a lot more stability in your life because you won't have to rely on people for contentment. Your emotions and behaviors will be stable, and you will become detached (but not indifferent) from much of what is going on in the world.

The ultimate building block of the universe is love. Humans are born into the arms of loving parents and die surrounded by their loved ones (ideally). They only live and die for love.

"In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you," Gautama Buddha said.

All that really important is your ability to love yourself and others. The question of how to get there is quite different. You must first figure out who you are and then totally adore yourself.
