Not Passionate About Your Job? Here’s Why!

You may feel unfulfilled in your job because, while it funds your calling, it doesn’t align with the deeper passion or purpose God has placed in your heart. When we juggle career and calling, it’s easy to lose passion for a job that doesn’t seem to connect with our true purpose. But sometimes, God places us in these roles for a reason and a season—to prepare us, provide for us, and grow us. Even if your job isn’t your calling, trust that God has you there for a purpose, and it’s part of your journey. The Life-Changing Answer to Career and Purpose!

Are you juggling career and calling? This has been me for the past five years. As a career Federal employee, I have had to find pockets of time to dedicate to God's calling. It has been so difficult. Tentmakers sacrifice much during this season - Time, Finances, Energy, Sleep and sometimes, their Sanity. Here is what I have learned: This is a season of preparation. The job (i.e. the tentmaking) is what is funding the ministry and building the framework for something bigger. It is also a time where God is preparing YOU. Tentmaking seasons are not forever. Ease is coming, so please do not give up. Be encouraged that God is preparing something amazing! Baby Steps

Setting boundaries doesn't mean making dramatic declarations or cutting people off overnight. Just like learning to walk, we can start with small, wobbly steps that gradually build our confidence. Maybe it's taking a few extra minutes before responding to a text, saying "I'll think about it" instead of an automatic yes, or letting a call go to voicemail when you're eating dinner. Celebrate mini-steps and be patient as you develop this new skill of boundary-setting.
