Thank you for your wonderful podcast! I enjoyed listening to Edward Gibson very much. Would you consider interviewing a scholar about natural language semantics. Please…:)
Simply my favorite podcast
I’ve tried a lot of podcasts, and on the balance, as a show and as a host, Lex Fridman is my favorite. Thank you and keep up the great work.
thank you for creating beauty!
if Myshkin is right and beauty will save the world, then Lex will have contributed heavily to bringing about that end. in a world where so many intellectuals choose to devolve into ideological mud throwing contests, this show is a beacon of nuance, openness, and curiosity. Lex has distilled interviewing down to an art, and i highly recommend giving it a listen! also for all the people who make fun of his “peace and love” takes, what’s your solution? hate and war? 😂
More Please
Big fan of the deep content exposed by critical questions. Please interview: Bartle Bull, author, Land Between the Rivers: A 5,000-Year History of Iraq
Great cast
Love the podcasts and have some great guests on! Only thing I’d add is that the political stuff just isn’t for me.
Episode 446
You are onto something with your observation of the link between freedom of speech and thought. This is the incubator for innovation because of a conservation of energy reality. The mind can only track so many things at once and greatness requires full subject attention. When the mind is distracted by unproductive thoughts like speech codes especially when there are real world consequences to those banned thoughts being expressed, the mind isn’t completely free - energy isn’t free to explore and expand understanding. It becomes trapped in a cage of worry and fear. This inhibits innovation. The mind, like a pie, becomes carved up to the extent that a lesser percentage can focus on one’s natural interests and passions and with it the expression of intelligence is compromised. I hope this makes sense.
Deeply insightful - AI
Deeply insightful interviews that are evolving our collective understanding of science, technology, and AI. I hope he will interview Frederico Faggin, the inventor of the first microprocessor and the clearest thinker I have ever encountered on the nature of consciousness, AI, and why machines can never be conscious. Truly remarkable insights. If you listen to him carefully (or read Irreducible) you will never be the same again, in the best sense! An intellectual journey to the farthest frontier but grounded in experience, insightful and deep thinking, and sound science. Frederico Faggin.
Unusual
Someone sent me a link to a Lex podcast, it took me 2-3 months to finally listen to it because I didn’t know who he was and it was a couple of hours long. But over time I started listening more regularly and have grown to really appreciate his unemotional but intelligent style - and a few choice words along the way. I’m an ME by education/profession and am used to thinking things through, not having emotional reactions. Here I get that too but about subjects I don’t much about but know are important.
Biased, but obvious about it
Love the podcast, particularly when Lex lets the other participants talk.
Amazing
Lex is clearly a great human being. Extremely balanced debate, wonderfully researched. Gives all sides the opportunity to be interviewed. I’ve learned so much from these podcasts. Thank you, Lex.
Not Antisemitism, dude.
Douglas Murray acts baffled over how/why the world is so disturbed/disgusted by Israel’s genocide & torture of Palestinians IN ORDER to land grab. HERE’S WHY: Evidence overwhelmingly proves it. It’s unfortunately a factual matter & history will continue to prove it.
Reflections
This pod has given me so many amazing glimpses into different worlds and opened my mind to some amazing concepts. It felt organic and purposeful. Wading into politics was a brave attempt but Lex gave Trump some feedback and I’ll give the same to Lex- you are at your best when painting an inspiring vision of the future. Thank you Lex.
Ezra Klein episode
Loved the Ezra episode.. it’s amazing how clearly intelligent people spend hours creating elaborate theories to obfuscate the truth. My favourite has to be the 30 minutes of weapons grade waffle as to why the left don’t do long form podcasts. The answer is of course obvious, how can the left defend ideas on gender and open borders for 3 hours. It’s not possible, when the arguments are deconstructed all that is left is ‘be kind’, morally decent sentiment but not a building block for policy.
Good work must be admired
Simply excellent. A great job done by Lex Friedman. I address all the people of the world. As noble citizens of mother planet earth and urge all to listen to this interview completely as it has got solutions to all existing problems with the persons within the society and with the nations. Keep it up Lex Friedman.🌈👍
The Great Debate
Once again, an excellent example of a good human. Possibly my favorite interview. Thank you 🙏🏻 Lex, are truly blessed ! And you are needed in our world.
Fair
Gives everyone from every viewpoint a fair chance to speak their mind
