Case 006 - Marion Barter

 

Mother of two, Marion was a popular primary school teacher at the Southport school on the Gold Coast when, in March 1997, she suddenly quit her job, sold her house and announced she was going to take a trip of a lifetime to the UK and Europe. 

 

On Sunday 22nd June 1997, 51 year old Marion boarded a plane and left Australia for the UK. Sally Leydon, Marion's daughter, received postcards and a call, but she never saw her mother again. By October Sally became concerned that she hadn’t heard from her mother and contacted her bank. She discovered money had been electronically transferred from Marion’s account to an unknown account. And then Marion vanished. Laura is convinced the answer lies in the victimology and the timeline and the months before Marion left for the UK.
