We Are All Sinner!

0:02 Looking at our world from a theological perspective. This is the Theology Central podcast making Theology Central. Good afternoon, everyone. It is Thursday, September nineteenth, twenty twenty four. It is currently three twelve pm Central Time, and I am coming to you live from the Theology Central studio located right here in Abilene, Texas. Now, I'm going to ask you to do something right now that is probably more important than you really will understand, at least at the beginning of this. You may not understand the importance of what I'm going to ask you to do, but it is really really important. I want you, if you can, to take a piece of paper right now, something to write with, and I want you to write down five sins that you have committed, maybe today, within the last twenty four hours forty eight hours. I want you to think about the sins you have committed in the last twenty four to forty eight hours, and I want you to write them down. You can burn the list after we're done, but for right now, write those sins down on paper.

1:23 I want you to look at them. I want you to see them sins you have committed. It may not be sins anybody knows about. It may be in private, it may be secret. It may be sins that you have committed internally. You've not done anything externally. It's all in your mind. It's in your feelings, it's in your heart, it's in your thinking, it's in your desire. Wherever the sin may have occurred, internal, external, by what you have done, or by what you have left undone. I want you to write down your sins, and I want you to to look at them. I want you to see them.

2:04 I want you to fill them. I want you to know your sin, because ladies and gentlemen, we are all sinners. Whenever we open our Bible and we come across any verse that says do this, don't do this. Those verses are what we refer to as law, and they condemn us. They show us our inability because we cannot keep God's law perfectly, we cannot even come close. We are always we are in a perpetual state of disobedience to God's law, a perpetual state of disobedience. Constantly, we're in sin. The law says love God with all your heart, mind, body, and soul. You never accomplish that. It says to love your name It says to be ye perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect. It tells you to be holy as God is holy. The law condemns, condemns, condemns. The law reveals your disobedience, it reveals your sin, and it condemns you. It breaks you, It crushes you, It humbles you, it humiliates you. It fills you with guilt and shame.

3:22 That's what the law does. And I want you to see your sin, and I want you to feel the weight of that law crushing you down, crushing you. Don't worry about anybody else, don't think about anybody else, Only think of yourself. See that sin. And when you feel that weight, you feel that guilt. You may be tempted to say, Okay, I'm gonna do better, I'm gonna try harder, I'm not gonna do this, I'm not gonna do that. And you may try to commit yourself. But no matter how much you commit yourself, no matter how much scripture you read, no matter how many times you go to church, no matter how much you pray, the reality, the reality is that nobody wants to admit, is that we are still sinners, and we are going to sin. We will continue to sin, perpetually, in a state of sin, all the way until glorification, when we are now freed from this body of sin, and then then we will stop sinning.

4:21 But for now, I know the Church believes so much that we can stop sinning, that we can say notice sin and yes to God. But that is just not the case. Reality all around us screams we keep sinning. I keep sinning, You keep sinning. And I'm not excusing it. It is sin, it is wrong, it should be condemned. I'm not excusing it. I'm trying to state that the reality is that we are guilty, and we are always guilty. We're continually guilty. We're constantly guilty, We're perpetually guilty, whatever word you want to use. Our only hope, our hope is not to try to do better, to stop it, to all the things that we know. Our hope is this, when we are crushed by the sternness of the law, when we taste the bitterness of the law and we feel the weight of it, our only hope is it for people to point the finger and throw more law at us, and throw more guilt upon us. What we need to hear is that Jesus died for you, that in Him there is forgiveness, that his blood washes away all sin, and that in Christ, by faith alone, you stand in Him, perfect, holy and righteous. Oh you feel the weight of that sin. Run to Christ, and in

5:51 Him you are declared to be holy, imperfect, because of an imputed righteousness, not infused. It is accredited to your account, even though if you are a sinner, even though you fail, and not excusing that. In Christ, though you are free from that condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. In Christ, not practically, but in Christ, positionally, you are a new creature. All things are passed away, all things have become new in Christ. Not practically, practically you are still a sinner. You are in a perpetual stat of sin. Practically, positionally you are perfect and you are holy. That is the duality of Christianity that sometimes Christians struggle with. We have a hard time processing that reality. But it's a reality. I don't care who you are. You are a sinner. Could we could literally say these words every ten to fifteen minutes, have mercy upon me, Oh God, according to thy loving kindness, according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies, blought out my transgressions, Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me against thee the only have I sinned and done this evil in thy sight, that thou mightst be justified when thou speakest and be clear,

7:23 when thou judgest, behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. I was born a sinner, and I have been a sinner ever since, every single day before I was saved. After I was saved, I continue to sin and thought word. Indeed, if I could sit here and list all of my sins, I could list them, and you would be You may be shocked, You may be appalled, you may be disgusted. You may want me crucified. I don't know, but I am a sinner.

8:04 Ladies and gentlemen, and guess what so are you Look at your list, admit it, acknowledge it, don't try to cover it up. Don't go run outside and grab some fig leaves and cover it up. Don't go find a robe of self righteousness and pretend to be something you're not. Let's all just look at one another and go, we are sinners. We sin, We continually sin, and when the weight and the sternness of the law crushes us, what we need is the sweetness of the gospel. We need the healing medicine that is found in the Gospel. And that healing medicine is this. Yes, you're a sinner, Yes you are condemned, but in Christ Jesus, by grace alone, through faith alone, you are declared to be wholly perfect and righteous. Even though you are a vile sinner and you're not made righteous in practice, you're made righteous and you're standing before God because it's an imputed righteousness. Christianity doesn't like that idea. We want to say, no, you are going to be this, You're going to be this.

9:17 You can basically be perfect, is the way it's sold. Well, no, you can't, because we're sinners. So guess what we should expect from anyone and everyone? Sin? I know nobody wants to hear you know what I should expect from you? Sin? You know what you should expect from me? Sin? You know what you should expect from your husband? Sin? You know what the husband should expect from the wife. Sin. You know what you should expect from your kids. Sin. Now, expecting it is not the same thing as saying excusing it. It's just an acknowledgement that you're a sinner. I'm a sinner. We sin. You know what should expect in the church? Sin. You know what should expect from Christians at work? Sin. You know what you should expect from your Christian neighbors. Sin.

9:58 Sin is what you should expect because because we are sinners and we sin, we still have a sinful nature, we still have a sinful heart. Now why am I emphasizing this because I want you to remember your sin, because over the next few hours, you're going to start seeing information about a very famous pastor well who's had to basically he's been removed. Let me, I'm going I'm not going to say the name. I'm not going because that I don't want to give any names. I have no desire to throw any more condemnation, shame, or humiliation on the individual in any way, shape or form. I'm not gonna mention it. It's already on the internet, there's already news articles. So I'm not going to say anything, you're going to hear it. But when you hear this, okay, I'm just going to give you I'm going to read a statement from the church. I'm not going to give you the name of the church, anything gonna. I'm gonna just leave those parts blank. But listen to me. When you hear it, don't think about who it is, don't think about what they've done. Think about yourself. Right here is the statement. The elders at a particular church regretfully announced that, effective immediately, a certain very famous pastor has been removed indefinitely from all ministry. Many days ago, the

11:34 elders that this particular church were informed, and then they go in to talk about what the sin was. I'm not gonna go into it. I'm not gonna describe it because I'm not here to put the focus on that individual. The focus needs to be on you and me. When you hear everyone talk about this sin, think about yourself. Don't think about them, Think about you. Think about if your sin, the sin inside of you, if it was broadcasted all across the internet. I want us to think about this. Romans, Chapter two, verse one. Therefore, thou art inexcusable, oh man, whosoever thou art that judgest, for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself, for thou that judgest doest the same things. Now you may say no, no, no, no, no no, I don't do the same things. You may not do the same things the exact same way. But I guarantee you there is the same or similar type sin inside of you. It may be in your mind, it may be in your heart. You may not have done it with your hands, you may not have done it physically, but you've done it internally. And if you've done it internally, you're just as guilty, because that's the entire point of the law. The law condemns us. The law demands perfection externally and internally. So you may be able to pat yourself on the back and go, I've never externally done this, but what have you done internally? See,

13:10 we're so quick to see everyone else's sin. We're so quick to throw rocks at everyone else's sin. We're so quick to judge everyone else. We have to look at ourselves. Romans too goes on to say, but we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth. Against them which commit such things and thinkest thou this o man that judgest them which do such things, and dost the same, that thou shall escape the judgment of God. Look, no one can escape the judgment of God except for this, unless someone's already taken the judgment for you, and that is Christ Jesus. In him judgment, he satisfied the judgment of God. He was our propitiation. We are declared righteous by faith. We are made righteous by faith, not in action, but we are declared to be at positionally. I want you to remember this. And I know some people don't believe this text belongs in the Bible. I understand that.

14:24 But the story is powerful. Jesus went unto the mount of Olives, and early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him, and he sat down and taught them. And the scribes and pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst they say, unto him Master, this woman was taken in adultery in the very act. Now, Moses in the law commanded us that that such should be stoned. But what sayest thou now the law God gave laws that what we don't understand is that law would condemn all of us. Then they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him.

15:06 But Jesus stooped down with his finger wrote on the ground as though he heard them. Not so, when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself and said, unto them, he that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And they, all being they all be being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one. Jesus was left alone and the woman standing in the midst And when Jesus had lifted up himself, he saw no he saw none but the woman, and he said, woman, where are thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee When people fall into sin, we can pick up rocks. We can try to throw them out of the king of God and say they were never saved.

16:03 Or we can approach it from a biblical perspective and say, this person send and I'm a sinner. And they need God's grace, they need mercy, they need the sweetness of the Gospel. They're already condemned by the law. They know they've been condemned. Once someone knows, when someone acknowledges their guilt, says they're guilty, and they've already been crushed by the law, they don't need more law. They need someone to come with the medicine of the gospel. We need to be battle filled medics right where someone has been blown apart by the law. And then we come run in with our medical badge, our medical bag, and we come in and we apply the sweetness of the gospel, the healing of the gospel, saying, yes, you send there's no excuse for that sin. It is wrong, but you know what you need. You need the Gospel that saved you is the gospel you need as a Christian. Christ paid for your sins in Him. There is there for now, no condemnation.

17:02 There is forgiveness. Now I'm not saying we cover up illegal activity, all right, illegal activity has to be handled correctly. But sin, there is forgiveness in Christ Jesus. Now that illegal activity has a sin element to it, obviously, and there is forgiveness for the sin, but there has to be legal consequences. We don't cover up, We don't cover up breaking the law. Can you understand that? But we need to be that. We need to be running around with a medical bag, maybe a medical badge, the red cross on our arm. And when we see people blown up, you know what we do. We don't go spread the information. We don't go tell everyone their name. We don't gossip.

17:43 That's why I'm not going to mention the name. I'm not going to say a word about the name. It's nobody's business. You know where? You know that where that person needs to be right now, standing alone before Christ Jesus and all of us with sin. We need to put down our stones and walk away and think about our own sin. And what this person needs is Christians running to them with our medical bags and saying, here's the gospel. Here's the gospel. Christ Jesus died for your sins. Christ Jesus blood, his blood washes away all your sins. If we will confess our sins. He's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There is hope, there is redemption. There should be able to be restoration. I know many Christians don't believe in restoration. You're gonna hear the story. It's gonna be everywhere again, it's already on one website. I'm looking at it right now, and it's gonna show up everywhere.

18:49 It's gonna be everywhere. It'll probably be on the Christian Post probably within a couple of hours. It's it's already. I'm not going to name the website that it's currently on. It's gonna be. It's gonna make its way actually because of the person's name and the positions that they hold and the ministries they are connected with. If you disagree with their theology, this is very important. If this was someone from Bethel Church, which I cannot stand their theology, I think they're heretics. You know what, I don't use someone falling into sin as an opportunity to attack their theology. I don't use someone falling into sin as an opportunity to attack my philological enemy. You know what, someone needs who falls into sin, no matter how much we disagree with their theology. They need Christians who show love, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, and our wartime medics, battlefilled medics. We run with our medical kit, our medical bag. We apply the Gospel. We don't slander, we don't gossip, we don't destroy and humiliate we want to cover, pick up, love, forgive, mercy, restoration.

20:07 And that's what Christianity is about. Jesus dying for sinners. And that message is not just for you when you became a Christian. You need the Gospel, you need the cross, you need his blood Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, every day of your entire Christian existence, because you may never commit the sins I commit, but you've got your own. Look at that paper today. Look at that when you see and hear, don't go spread that. Grab the paper and look at your own sin. If you want to go spread something on the internet today, spread your own sin. Oh, nobody wants to do that. Let's be very careful what we say in public. Let's think about ourselves and let's be grateful that Jesus died for sinners, and that is blood is sufficient to wash away all sin, not excusing any sin. I just want to change the narrative and that we approach this differently. You're going to hear it, you're going to see it. Please handle yourself biblically carefully because there's human beings involved and people are going to be filled with guilt. Shame, humiliation, hurt, pain, suffering, embarrassment.

21:43 Jesus wrote on the dirt. Everyone says, what did he write? Some people say he wrote the very commandments. The people who had the rocks had broken themselves. We don't know. I know this. You just write down on paper your sin, and just remember your sin. Whenever you see someone else's sin, remember your sin before you speak of their sin. Pray for the church, for the pastor for anyone involved in the sin, and for all the people who are associated with it. Are going to be impacted. There's going to be pain. There's going to be so much, it's going to possibly be it's going to be ugly for all the people involved. Pray and let's not make it worse.

22:34 Let's be medical. Let's be battlefilled medics. And we're there to bandage and to put the pieces back together with the only thing that heals, and that is the gospel, because when the law crushes, the Gospel is needed to put back together. Thanks for listening, God bless
